vegas shepherd rescue. good morning, ladies. >> good morning. >> all right. so beth, julie, you're teaming up. tell us about it. >> i was so honored that i got to head a committee here at our station to dole out money that the foundation said they would give to the las vegas community which is so generous of our parent company. and as we began looking at organizations, we want to do give the money to vegas shepherd rescue, one of julie's favorite, was top on our list. so honored on behalf of scripps howard foundation to present you with $1,500. [ cheering ] i know the money will go to help lots of animals. >> oh, most definitely. we don't get any help from anybody, so we have to raise everything. so this means the world to us. >> no government assistance? >> no, no. >> wow. so with this money, what are some of the things that it goes to? >> i wanted to talk about a very special dog named kennedy because it's more than just
9:02 am
it's really about rescuing them from desperate situations. and kennedy was one of these dogs. this is him when we first picked him up from the shelter. he's very extremely, dangerously underweight. >> wow. >> and basically he was going to be put to death because they said that he was despondent and he didn't -- was having a difficult time breathing, having a difficult time eating. but they didn't investigate why well, we picked him up and took him straight to our great doctors at craig road animal hospital and what we found was that he had a ball lodged in his throat. and that's why he couldn't breathe. that's why he couldn't eat. >> wow. >> there -- >> there is the ball that was pulled out. >> oh, my gosh. >> of course, i'd be a little depressed if that thing was stuck in my throat. no telling how long it had been there, but obviously quite a
9:03 am
dangerously thin. but fortunately, we got it pulled out and now you should see him now. he is just a happy, healthy, perfectly fine dog. look at him now. he was adopted. >> working the camera. >> yeah, he is. >> and he's got a family. he was adopted by a metro detective right there. >> no kidding. >> and jack had adopted, previously adopted from us anotr featured on the "morning blend" a couple years ago. but anyway, so yeah. he's a happy, healthy dog. and he still loves balls, believe it or not. that one is really big. and it can go down. >> can i tell i couldn't we chose vegas shepherd rescue? because there are over 100 employees at ktnv and we so badly wanted to support organizations that our employees feel passionately about. all of our employees give of their time and money.

9:30 am
wherever they can get to. >> okay. for our viewers watching who may have diabetes, what are some steps that they can take? >> important thing is regular interval checkups with your doctor. i think it's important to just keep an eye on things. we can do foot inspections, make sure the eye exams are okay. so that's a big one for me is doing that. regular checking of your blood sugars. it's important to monitor your levels, make sure they're not going high or low. then based on those levels, we can readjust the medications. it's important to do those things. always check the instructions on your medication. sometimes they'll have certain things in timed intervals. due diligence is important for diabetes. >> yes. dixon, we're in open enrollment period right now. let's talk about seniors and medicare. what's important right now for seniors? >> right now open enrollment, it started october 15 and ends on december 7. this is a time when seniors can make a change or enroll into a

a tart shell. this is very good, too. >> oh, wow. >> you guys are the pros here. do you have holidays tips for us at this time of year coming up? >> yeah. everybody gets intimidated with desserts at home. but it's kind of like what we tell our team, too. it's really about the baker. so yes, there is a science to it, like when we do our cranberry creme brulee and i believe this is going to be on the web site. you want to make sure that you scramble the eggs. when you see alfonzo torching this, he puts a little sugar, carmelizes it with the torch, keeps it moving and puts another layer on. there is little tips like that. but remember it's about you and the love you put into the desserts and the attention to it so if you have a recipe and it says ten minutes or whatever, use your judgment. you kind of know. it's really not that
9:40 am
done. >> he's obviously not talking to me. >> you have to pay attention. >> you do. >> listen, this beautiful desserts in front of us, if you don't have time to put in that love and attention that baking requires, and i'm a mean cookie maker, you could consider coming down to one of the westgate properties and picking up a dessert like this. >> for sure. this one is our pumpkin cheesecake. it's very, very tasty. >> oh. >> this i >> if you showed up to someone's house at thanksgiving with that cake, you would be popular. >> yeah. we're having some pumpkin pies. we're baking pumpkin pies for homeless people now that we're gonna be giving away tomorrow. so it's very good. >> thank you very much. >> thank you so much. >> thank you for feeding us. absolutely delicious. for delicious desserts and great thanksgiving specials, visit westgate resort and casino this

your friends and family, i know you want to look your best. today we're joined by our friend, lifestyle expert scott defalco. he's here to share a secret on how to look and feel great this holiday season. and best of all, only takes five minute. >> you didn't say holidays. >> happy holidays. >> my wallet just got lighter as you said that. >> yes. but your wallet is not going to go lighter with this. >> not with this. it will be a great way to improve your appearance because you are going to see friends and family. you don't want to be insecure this time of year. especially for frien family, you don't really want to see but you have to, you have them, they shall remain nameless. you'll knock their socks off. >> you want to kill them with kindness with a really, really white smile. >> we'll get your teeth as bright as my shower. this is powerswabs. >> about the same color. >> powerswabs, this is a revolutionary product. it's clinically proven on average to whiten your teeth two shades in less than five minutes, which is after the
9:45 am
six shades over seven days is changing the way we whiten our teeth. >> five minutes. you see a lot of these things, it's the trays with the goop and weeks and weeks and kind of burns your gums. >> the biggest complaints, it's going to be less than five minutes. they're time consuming and messy, and taste bad. the worst part is the sensitivity. that's the worst part. that's the biggest complaint from people. i used to use the strips. i can only get through two sessions. people say why does that happen? because when you use them, they dehydrate your enamel, suck the moisture out. so that's why you get the sensitivity. this product a moisturizes and hydrates the enamel so you don't get that. that's a make or break for a lot of people. >> this is different than anything else you've seen? >> it was developed by a dentist. he's an award winning dentist. but in the business over 30 years. he took everything that was wrong with the other products and eliminated it. he really did. the results in less than five minutes. you'll see that in just a second. as you're looking at your shade chart. >> wow. >> that's after the first use. then that's after the seven days. so number one, results in less
9:46 am
number two, we just talked about the sensitivity. another reason why this product has been so popular the last couple years, i've been doing this for over two years now, is because it lifts stains off your caps, crowns and veneers. >> which is huge, because typically they say the whitening won't work on that. and this will. because i have six crowns. >> you get it. when you get the procedure done, it looks great. a lot of people have this done. over time, they will tell you that their smile goes uneven, they're told there is nothing they can do about it. until now. you see all the >> it's a patented technology. rub it on your top and bottom teeth. i love these close-ups. rub this on your top and bottom teeth for two minutes. this is the stain out swab. over that two minute, we accomplish two things. we remove the stain. the other products we talked about, the whiten -- they whiten stain, but they don't remove it.
9:47 am
enamel with the stain out swab and that is to prevent sensitivity. that's why you don't have that. now you whiten. same process. notice i'm going right up to the gum line. >> notice he's not wincing. >> no. it doesn't hurt at all. this is a party, you're allowed to double dip at. get in there, get all the solution. >> there is plenty of powerswabs to go around. >> so you do that for the full two minutes. we have tv time constraints. what i just did, less than five minutes results last for up to six months. >> look at the pictures. it's phenomenal. >> look, you leave with your smile. it's the first thing people notice about you. you can not avoid it. you can not hide it. and even when you smile, my eye goes right to your teeth. people should pay attention to that in conversation because it makes a big difference. >> before i got the crowns i had a dark tooth. it was beyond perhaps what this was. it was a root canal situation. but to have darker teeth, to have the teeth that aren't bright, you get very
9:48 am
things in our life. >> that's another advantage of using the swab. i had the same issue. i was blessed with white teeth, but i had a tooth that was a little bit yellow. because of the swab and like you said, people have this issue, you can focus on that one particular area to get it to the same shade of white. >> which is phenomenal. there is a quick stick. >> yes. this is a great stocking stuffer. this is the on the go stain out. we're going to give you three of these today if you take advantage of the "morning blend" special. th maintenance. tide for your teeth. so results last up to six months. >> don't put tide on your teeth. >> but this is great because during the day we're drinking coffee. when you're at work you have lunch. you don't have time to brush your teeth. you use this. you pull it out of your pocket, you spin it. the gel will come up. you rub it on your top and bottom teeth like i did with the swab. it actually lifts the stains off of your teeth before they set in. it's like brushing your teeth. keeps them bright and white throughout the day. >> without having to do the stuff like that.
9:49 am
again, this is another example in seven days, you can go from fairly -- obviously coffee -- >> it's a dramatic improvement in your appearance. people will talk about anything these days. they really will. i don't like my nose. i'm too fat. i need more hair, i need bigger whatever. i'm from l.a., i heard it all. >> vegas. >> but they don't talk about their teeth. >> of course. >> it's a real personal thing. to other those people with that issue, this will change their lives. the special offer is 60% off. buy if you call that 1-800 number on your screen, or go to powerswabs.com, if you call, tell them you saw scott on the show with shawn and they'll give you that special. and we're also going to include free delivery. free shipping. >> ho, ho, ho. >> we love that word free. >> great having you. >> thank you so much. >> thanks for having me back. >> great christmas gift. my goodness. call now. mention that you saw this on the "morning blend." you'll get 60% off with buy two,
9:50 am
comes with quick sticks. if you want brighter hospital or need a great gift, order power swabs by calling now. you can go to powerswabs.com. they're also on facebook and twitter. >> thank you. and now it's time for your beauty tip of the week sponsored by phaze laser medispa. it's finally starting to feel like winter and that makes kicking off the flip flops and snuggling into something warmer. most of us neglect our feet after summer. why do we do that? the dry winter months can lead to dry, cracked feet. luckily our friends at phaze laser medispa have a few tips on how to take your feet from barbed wire to baby soft. gently scrub away dead skin cells with a pum miss stone once per week. do not attempt to remove all the dead skin at once. aggressive scrubbing can damage the skin. store the stone inside your shower for a constant reminder to scrub those heels.

this holiday season. >> well, in theaters two of the ones that i can recommend most highly are "lala land," which is the new musical with ryan gosling and emma stone. yes, i said musical with ryan gosling and emma stone. >> you had me at ryan gosling. >> i bet i did. i think a lot of people feel that way. they're such a great couple. this is the third movie they've made together. he can really dance. she can really sing. it's going to get a whole bunch of oscars. it's a beautiful film. takes place here in los angeles. they're trying to make entertainment world and keep their relationship together at the same time. it's great. and then my other favorite is called "lion" with dev patel and nicole kidman. it's the true story of a young boy in india in the 1980s who got separated from his family and got on a wrong train and was taken 1,000 miles away. didn't really know his full name or his town. he gets adopted by an australian family and then 20 years later with the help of google earth, tries to find his mom and his hometown.

movie that i cannot recommend highly enough. and then there is a whole bunch of great stuff on hulu. think of hulu as the service to watch tv shows on, but there is thousands of great movies on hulu as well. some of the ones that are new that i would recommend, if you're a music fan, ron howard directed a documentary about the beatles called "eight days a week." all about the years that they spent touring in their early and mid '60s. there is all this great footage of them performing. so that one i can hily recommend. if you like sports, i know you're a big runner. >> yes. >> serena williams fan. there is a documentary called "serena" that follows her all last year as she tried to win the tennis grand slam. all of this behind the scenes footage. you learn so much about her. it's a very intimate and emotional and intense documentary that's also available on hulu right now. i cannot recommend it highly enough. >> wow. that sounds super interesting. thanks for that.

hulu is you can also go on and you can find a lot of the holiday classics. the films that we've seen over and over again. but i like to pull up some of the films from my childhood even. >> you know what's a fun holiday kind of movie on holiday is "when harry met sally." that's a great one for the holiday time. if you have got kids, another one i would recommend for this time of year is called "shawn the sheep" it's this british company called ardman that does these really great clay mation movies. they did this one a couple years ago called "shawn the sheep" which is so fascinating. there is mo dialogue in the whole movie, but it's absolutely brilliant. super funny. that's one that i would recommend as well. >> see, i love that because sometimes it takes a personal recommendation like that because you could scroll through hulu and look at all the titles, but unless you hear from somebody else, hey, that's a great movie,

might never click on it, right? >> exactly. trust me on shawn the sheep, it's great. >> okay. i will make note of that for sure. most of us will be spending a lot of time with our families this holiday season. what about romance? if we have a little time with our spouse or maybe someone we're date to go sit down and watch a romantic film, does anything come to mind for you? >> well, i think "when harry met sally" is a great one for that. and "good will great breakout story for matt damon. there is a great love story with him and minnie driver. if you and your date want to have fun, watch "fargo." it's the most unromantic movie. but it's great comedy in minute machine that i love. >> i love it. there is plenty of snow and the wood chipper. who can forget that scene? >> there you go. make you feel cold and you can snuggle even more. >> thank you so much.
