in the last ten years. paul nelson joins us live from the grand sierra resort -- after talking to officials with william hill race and sports book. paul -- what a day for sports books! kristen -- as you know the super bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year for sports betting, and it was no different yesterday. and it wasn't just a win for the broncos. nevada also came out on top. tax revenue from the game is nearly 900-thousand dollars. "10-15-16-17-18. thank you." it's all smiles at the william hill race and sports book at the grand sierra resort. especially for fans like andrew yun -- who won 200-dollars on a 40-dollar bet. andrew "i bet for the broncos to win the super bowl, a month ago, because peyton's been carrying his teams for like 18 years and this is the first time he had a number one defense." yun is one of the lucky ones -- just like 194 sports books

a record 132.5 million dollars were bet on the super bowl in nevada. it was also the biggest day for william hills race and sports books. ben "we took more, as far as handle yesterday, than we ever have, in the history of william hill u.s." the broncos-panthers game shattered the previous record from two years ago -- of 119.4 million dollars bet. ben "early in the week, we had about 85 percent panthers money to about 15 percent bronco money. the broncos money did end up coming in, over the weekend. so, i think at game time, we were about 65-35." the broncos 14-point win was favorable to the sports books -- but they would have won the most panthers win. prop bets were also big. ben "we took $75,000 in handle on the coin flip." knutson says the amount bet shows the magnitude of the super bowl. and fans say having a wager on the game adds even more interest. andrew "i feel like it's easier to bet when there's only one focus game to talk about because it's easier talked about, people understand it better, people focus on the stars better, and

nuances that you can find." ben "even for somebody who isn't interested in football on a day-to-day, week- by-week basis, for the super bowl, they're gonna choose a side, come out and have some fun, watch the game." you can already bet on next year's super bowl. the 49ers have 50-1 odds to win the big game -- and the raiders are 30-1. knutson says sports betting slows down after football season is over. the next big events are march madness and the kentucky derby. covering the big story live, paul nelson, channel 2 news. if watching super bowl commercials is your favorite part of the game... then you've probably seen the beloved budweiser clydesdales. well, four of them... now retired... live in west monroe, louisiana. mary beth harter got marshall four years ago. and from there... bill... casino.. and sammy. she's helped turn m-b-h farm into a clydesdale retirement home. and she says caring for these guys is a 24/7 job.
