good evening. well, the votes have been counted and the results are first-in-the-nation primary. donald trump and bernie sanders won clear.. early.. and decisive victories in the granite state tonight. danielle nottingham has the latest on from manchester, new hampshire. cbs news is projecting donald trump is the winner of new hampshire's republican presidential primary. "new hampshire i want to thank you. we love you, we're gonna you." exit poll data showed that nearly half of republican voters wanted a political "outsider." he's a little different from everyone else. he's not a politician for one john kasich's intensive ground game paid off...with cbs news projecting a second place finish for the ohio governor "tonight the light overcame the darkness of negative campaigning." trump won with broad support from independent voters. independents were also key for the democratic winner. cbs news is projecting democrat

significant victory over hillary clinton. "we won, because we harnessed the energy and excitement that the democratic party needs to succeed in november." clinton conceded the loss, but said she's in it for the long haul. "we are going to fight for every vote in every state." the next contests take place february 20th with the democratic caucus in nevada and the gop primary in south carolina. danielle nottingham, cbs news, manchester, new hampshire. with the nevada caucuses less than two weeks away, local groups are offering classes for voters to familiarize themselves with how the process works. amanda ketchledge is live in the newsroom after visiting both parties and their training sessions. amanda-- both the democrats and republicans in washoe county are doing what they can to make sure their supporters know when the caucuses happen, and how they

on caucus day, voters will head to their nearest precinct site where they will meet other members of the community before casting their vote. pam dupre, washoe county democratic party: "this is how we decide in the state of nevada who we want to see on the ballot come november." the two parties operate their caucuses differently though. for democrats, voters will gather at public places and declare their support for a candidate. as for republicans, they too will gather three days, but will be casting a secret ballot that will be added up statewide. adam khan, washoe county republican party: "it allows people to not just cast their ballot and go home. it allows them to go in and really engage in the process, ask their neighbors, see what they think." at the washoe county gop headquarters, participants like kime king are learning about the process. kime king, reno: "it's good to get the training because it's so chaotic when you get to the caucus, that sometimes you get confused, or maybe you won't. not everyone does. but it's nice to know what's going on before you get there and get that refresher." democrats are simulating the caucus process to get volunteers ready to run their local precinct caucus on the actual day.

found today. 26-year-old michael anthony beaton was reported missing yesterday after taking a canoe out on the lake. his vehicle was found at popcorn beach... where multiple units, including the raven helicopter performed an unsuccessful search for beaton last night. crews resumed the search this morning, and found beaton's body in the lake near anahoe island. he was pronounced dead on scene. beaton was an active duty member of the united states air force. his last known address was in las vegas. turning to the crime beat... lockdowns were issued for three schools in stead for a few hours today -- while police searched for someone suspected of stealing a vehicle in the area. police tried to stop the vehicle near stead boulevard late this morning, but the driver took off. officers eventually found the vehicle near mt. baldy, but the suspect had already left the scene... police with the help of raven helicopter searched for him but called off the search after 1 p- m. investigators have not released a description of the

lawsuit to challenge the clean power plan. a federal appeals court will hold a hearing on that suit in june. but for now, the clean power plan cannot be enforced while the rule is legally challenged. today president obama submitted his final annual budget proposal to congress. the budget for fiscal year 2017 -- which starts on october first.. just three and a half months before he leaves office -- would top 4 trillion dollars. that would be spent on a number of initiatives - including the launch of a new war on cancer.. combating global warming.. and fighting growing threats from isis terrorists. "the budget that we're releasing today reflects my priorities and the priorities that i believe will help advance security and prosperity in america for many years to come." the budget would increase taxes by more than what the president sought and failed to achieve in last year's budget proposal. the

fire from the g-o-p controlled congress. and flint, michigan mayor karen weaver is no longer politely asking for new pipes in flint. she's demanding them outright... whether governor snyder is on board or not. weaver: "we have to get new pipes and i can not imagine that he would not support this plan because if he doesn't shame on him." her "fast start" plan will cost a projected 55 million dollars. it is designed to remove and replace flint's residential lead service lines as quickly as possible. households with a high risk of lead exposure will get top priority. the mayor does need the financial support of the governor. governor snyder is expected to present a budget plan for fiscal year 2016-2017 to the legislature tomorrow. it appears to be a showdown between the u-s department of justice and the city of ferguson. the u-s department of justice says the ferguson city council has created an "unnecessary delay" in efforts to reform its police and court systems.

tonight in cone zone... after years of planning and litigation -- construction of the southeast connector is moving full-speed ahead. phase 1 was completed in july of 20-14 -- but the permitting process delayed phase 2. let's show you where the project is happening... the southeast connector will extend veterans parkway in south reno -- stretching 5-and-a-half miles from south meadows parkway to greg street. construction crews are now working on a 2- mile stretch on the rosewood

as many as 250 people will be on the job during the summer months. right now, about 100 people are working on phase 2. the project includes the construction of five bridges -- along with two that have already been built. the road is expected to open in late 20-17. garth "a lot of earth work, a lot of environmental care is being done and then we do have two winters within that time period, that obviously, we have to slow down a little bit for what we're doing with construction." crews have already removed 3.8 million pounds of trash and nearly 470 million pounds of invasive weeds and contaminated soil. officials say the project will create an 80-acre wetland complex that will help the flows and quality in the steamboat ditch. the public is invited to an open house about the southeast connector. it will be held at the best western airport plaza hotel, from 11-7 this thursday. dallas: the nevada wolf pack return here to lawlor events center tomorrow night to face
