good evening. well, the votes have been counted and the results are first-in-the-nation primary. donald trump and bernie sanders won clear.. early.. and decisive victories in the granite state tonight. danielle nottingham has the latest on from manchester, new hampshire. cbs news is projecting donald trump is the winner of new hampshire's republican presidential primary. "new hampshire i want to thank you. we love you, we're gonna you." exit poll data showed that nearly half of republican voters wanted a political "outsider." he's a little different from everyone else. he's not a politician for one john kasich's intensive ground game paid off...with cbs news projecting a second place finish for the ohio governor "tonight the light overcame the darkness of negative campaigning." trump won with broad support from independent voters. independents were also key for the democratic winner. cbs news is projecting democrat

"we won, because we harnessed the energy and excitement that the democratic party needs to succeed in november." clinton conceded the loss, but said she's in it for the long haul. on caucus day, voters will head to their nearest precinct site where they will meet other members of the community before casting their vote. pam dupre, washoe county democratic party: "this is how we decide in the state of nevada who we want to see on the ballot come november." the two parties operate their caucuses differently though. for democrats, voters will gather at public places and declare their support for a candidate. as for republicans, they too will gather three days, but will be casting a secret ballot that will be added up statewide. adam khan, washoe county republican party: "it allows people to not just cast their ballot and go home. it allows them to go in and really engage in the process, ask their neighbors, see what they think." at the washoe county gop headquarters, participants like kime king are learning about the process. kime king, reno: "it's good to get the training because it's so chaotic when you get to the caucus, that sometimes you get confused, or maybe you won't. not everyone does. but it's nice to know what's going on before you get there and get that refresher." democrats are simulating the caucus process to get volunteers ready to run their local precinct caucus on the actual day.

found today. 26-year-old michael anthony beaton was reported missing yesterday after taking a canoe out on the lake. his vehicle was found at popcorn beach... where multiple units, including the raven helicopter performed an unsuccessful search for beaton last night. crews resumed the search this morning, and found beaton's body in the lake near anahoe island. he was pronounced dead on scene. beaton was an active duty member of the united states air force. his last known address was in las vegas. turning to the crime beat... lockdowns were issued for three schools in stead for a few hours today -- while police searched for someone suspected of stealing a vehicle in the area. police tried to stop the vehicle near stead boulevard late this morning, but the driver took off. officers eventually found the vehicle near mt. baldy, but the suspect had already left the scene... police with the help of raven helicopter searched for him but called off the search after 1 p- m. investigators have not released a description of the

tonight in cone zone... after years of planning and litigation -- construction of the southeast connector is moving full-speed ahead. phase 1 was completed in july of 20-14 -- but the permitting process delayed phase 2. let's show you where the project is happening... the southeast connector will extend veterans parkway in south reno -- stretching 5-and-a-half miles from south meadows parkway to greg street. construction crews are now working on a 2- mile stretch on the rosewood
