in crime beat... reno police have now named a suspect in connection to a stolen vehicle case in stead that put three schools in lockdown yesterday. police have identified the suspect as 19-year-old rylin wolfe. he is described as 5 foot six inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes. he is considered armed and dangerous. police say around 10-30 a-m...

wolfe while investigating a stolen vehicle case, but he fled on foot. investigators say he stole another vehicle that was left running in a driveway and he drove through a residential area, where police called off the chase for the public's safety. anyone with more informaton is asked to call or text secret witness. and the highway patrol has identified a stolen vehicle suspect who was involved in a hit and run last week, who they say crashed and killed himself. investigators say 21-year-old edy martinez-ramirez stole a yellow ford f-150 last thursday in carson city before hitting a parked vehicle. while he was being pursued... troopers say he drove over a sidewalk and through a fence at the carson city airport, where he was ejected and passed away. in money watch... today the nugget casino in sparks announced marnell gaming is acquiring the property. marnell gaming currently owns two properties in laughlin down

the deputy... who later passed away... was targeted because of his uniform. a second deputy caught up with the suspect - a 67-year-old man who was wanted on several warrants - after he left the restaurant. they exchanged gunfire and the suspect was killed. the second deputy later passed away. no bystanders were hurt. the country's leading medical experts went before congress today to press for nearly two billion dollars in emergency aid to help combat the zika virus. there are now 67 reported cases in 19 states... alabama and oregon were recently added to the list and a mild case was announced in sacramento area today. eighty percent of people who get zika don't show symptoms... but the virus has been linked to a rare birth defect which causes head and brain abnormalities. dr. tom frieden/director, cdc: "we're working around the clock to find out as much as we can as quickly as we can, to inform the public and to

mammal is illegal. paul nelson joins us live along the truckee river, where deer are known to spend their time. paul -- why is the department of wildlife urging people to leave these animals alone? feeding them can put the animals and even people in danger, landon. some people think the deer are hungry and feel obligated to feed them -- but in reality, the animals are usually healthy and know how to take care of themselves. and by feeding them -- you could be inviting trouble. crack, crack nevada's legislative building hasn't seen this much head-butting since the special session. and it seems these deer spend as much time here as politicians. chris "we've had some natural events like drought and wildlife that have driven animals towards the urban interface and into neighborhoods." residents of this carson city neighborhood say this herd of deer wanders through eveve day. and they've gotten very

edward "i can walk up. i can actually pet some of them." edward "they're like family, almost. you know, it's fun." lazar says he doesn't feed the deer -- but n-dow says that is a growing problem. healy says people often feed pumpkins, corn and other grains to the deer -- often attracting other wild animals. chris "we had a case up in galena, this year, in late october where a warning was issued to a man. he says "but i was feeding the deer,' and i said 'well yeah, but you're also bringing in a bear.'" and predators might not be far behind. healy "you can concentrate them so mountain lions come in and have an easier time of it, killing those deer and consuming them." healy says that can also put pets and humans in danger. and while deer seem harmless -- they're still wild animals. edward "i just grabbed one of his antlers, messing around one day, and he just turned his head and if i had held onto him, he would have

officials say larger groups of deer are more likely to spread ticks and diseases to each other. traffic and humans pose another kind of threat to the deer. chris "it's never a good thing when somebody's car runs into a deer. there's usually great damage to the deer. it's usually dead, and great property damage to somebody's car." ndow is handing out these brochures -- hoping to educate the public on this problem. nevada law says anyone caught feeding deer will be given a warning for their first offense. a second offense is a 250-dollar fine, and a third is 500 dollars. covering the story live, paul nelson, channel 2 news. but with all this sunshine... is our snow pack in jeopardy? what experts think in our channel 2 news big story at 5:30 our busy winter season seems to be suspended for now. good evening i'm landon miller. and i'm kristen remington. thanks for staying with us. above average temperatures... and blue skies.... it feels really nice outside. however, looking out over the northwest side of reno - it doesn't appear there's much snow on the hills. angela schilling was able to speak with a hydrologist this morning and joins us live from rock park with more. angela? kristen, a good way to see how our snow pack is doing is by looking at our rivers and streams. here at rock park, the river seems to be flowing at a good

so are local hydrologists worried about our snow pack? well, as i learned today, the answer, has to do with more than just the temperature. on days like this, sometimes you have to hit the slopes and take advantage of the sunshine. jeff anderson: "if you go skiing on mt. rose today there might be some soft snow on top of that's melted a little bit." but no need to worry about our snow pack just yet. jeff anderson: "the water is still there." jeff anderson: "any water that is coming out of the snow is going further into the snow pack and refreezing down into the snow pack." it's not common to have a few dry spells during an el nino. here' a look at consecutive dry days from the weather service in sacramento. rain or snow you just don't want it to go on for months. we've been dry here in reno since the beginning of february. we started off the month with temperatures in the thirties. now it feels like spring. jeff anderson: "what you'll notice during these dry periods is that the snow pack decreased about one or so percent a day on a dry period." jeff anderson: "that does not really mean the snow is melting.
