candidate -- holding it's caucus this saturday. and the silver state will be the fourth to select a republican nominee, a week from tomorrow. as paul nelson shows us -- both parties are eager to get the vote out. caucus training washoe county democrats are training precinct captains -- working to be as prepared as possible for the caucus. party leaders say they're hoping for a big turnout, saturday -- when voters will decide who they want to represent their party for the white house bid. cecilia "it's time for folks to step up and get involved, get involved with your neighbors and come on out and make a difference." nevada has the first-in-the-west caucus. while iowa and new hampshire have already chosen their nominees -- she says the electorate is much different in the silver state. cecilia "we have a much more diverse economy, rich in minorities, blacks, hispanics,

the reno fire department is investigating a house fire that sent one man to the hospital tonight... and killed three animals. crews responded to reports of the fire around 8:30... in the 14-thousand block of stead boulevard just off of i-80. leighton: "this was a duplex so both residences were displaced because power and gas had to be

unit itself involved with the fire had heavy fire damage." chief leighton says crews were able to quickly put out the fire.. but one man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. two dogs and a cat did die in the fire. the cause is still under investigation. turning to the crime beat... secret witness is now offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in a shooting death that happened in sparks friday night. officers were called to the 200- block of pyramid way - just after 11 p-m - for reports of a person down with an unknown medical condition. the victim was taken to saint mary's, where they died from what was determined to be a gunshot wound. the victim has not been identified. if you have any information, contact secret witness at 3-2-2 49-hundred, or text 8-4-7 4-1-1. the better business bureau wants to warn you about a phishing scam they say targets chambers of commerce and local

they say people are calling... claiming to represent the american chamber of commerce-- an entity that doesn't even exist. the caller then asks for an employee by name and claims to be updating the company's listing in its directory. they ask to verify basic business information-- such as address, business name, main contacts, and phone numbers. while this may seem harmless.. scammers can use this information to commit identity theft or target the business with other scams-- such as phony invoices. looking around the nation now... president obama could decide who will fill justice antonin scalia's seat on the supreme court as soon as next week... but election year politics in an already divided washington dc, are making his decision complicated. jan crawford is at the supreme court with the more on the late justice.. and what his death means moving forward. 2:02-2:16 1:25-1:30 when the justices return to the bench next week, it will be the first time -- for all 8 -- they will serve without justice

people give up the fitness goals they started with at the beginning of the year? apparently it's true. so... we're highlighting fitness trends to helplpou get back on track. andi guevara takes a look at 'aerial arts' -- and how it's kept one man in shape. graceful moves...up high...using silks or rings techniques usually just seen in circus shows but now regular people are getting in on the tricks with aerial arts, a fast growing fitness trend. "it's kind of invigorating. it's a big rush" josh grohman, tried it out three years ago and was hooked. "i got a groupon and i tried out flying trapeze and it was really fun." a pleasant surprise, considering the 32-year old says he could never get into the swing of other workouts. "it always felt kind of boring. it was just something i had to do. i was just taking up time

looking to our community now... valentines day doesn't always happen on the same three-day weekend as president's day...but with the two holidays falling back to back this year it certainly did some good for some of our local casinos. tracie barnthouse-communications manager-definitely saw an increase in occupancy over the weekend and you know contribute that to a couple things the weather was beautiful so we saw a lot of guests coming in

barnthouse says a lot of the business at the atlantis this weekend came from locals... but there were also a lot of tourists who came from out of town to celebrate the holidays as well. she says many of the hotel guests were couples who found their entertainment inside the casino... but they also saw some people head up the hill for some turns on the slopes. several hotel guests we spoke to said the larger crowds were evident all around town and they hope the extra business will be great for our economy. "most of the time the holiday weekends are busier and i can't get to my favorite machines as often." it's a good city, it's a good town, it's good clean fun, it's not too crowded but you know you get some crowds on the weekends and especially like valentines day weekend was pretty crowded but it's really all in all a wonderful place to come stay." and the atlantis says the crowds haven't left just yet... they've had many guests choose to extend their stay this holiday weekend and stay until tomorrow. skiers and snowboarders enjoyed

day weekend on the slopes. mt. rose ski resort said they had thousands of people the past couple of days. murry blainey, director of operations mt.rose ski: "this weekend was extra good because of great snow. and the weather was beautiful so clear and clean roads so no issues going to lake tahoe." resort officials tell us that presidents day is historically one of the busiest ski weekends they have in the season, second only to the week of christmas. while the final numbers aren't yet in, mt. rose expects to have hit a record-number of presidents day visitors this year. they say that's because it's the last holiday weekend for skiers and snowboarders. with clear skies, warm temperatures and plenty of snow to enjoy, many families brought their gear to the mountains. franklin alioto, san rafael, ca: "today was gorgeous. we're actually trying to get all our fleece and jackets off because it's so warm today." gary goodman, san jose, ca: "it's president's weekend, the kids got the week off, so we came up for a couple days. and we finally got some snow, some great snow."
