reno area. as the front moves through wednesday night snow levels will fall from 7,500' all the way down to near the valley floors, although all the heat left over from our recent warm temperatures should limit valley accumulations. high temperatures in the low 60s will crash down to the upper 40s on thursday. for the mountains, a winter storm warning will go into effect wednesday evening, with the heaviest precipitation expected to occur overnight. possible accumulations are in the one to two foot range above 7,000', with significantly less at lake level. by friday, the storm system should be out of the area, and it looks like things will warm up and dry out in time for the weekend, with valley temperatures approaching 60 degrees by sunday.

for two decades ndot has had a warning system in place when winds are too dangerous for drivers. but this year, they've enhanced the safety protocol by adding additional signs that include flashing lights to warn drivers there used to be nine of these kind of warning signs.. but now there are 34. ndot hopes this will make it easier for drivers to recognize the wind restrictions and plan their travels accordingly. meg ragonese- ndot pio-either delay their travel or they can reroute themselves, we actually have positioned these signs so that they are well in advance of particular exits so if drivers need to take a certain exit prior to going through the valley, they can do that and

ndot say this system is just another way they are enhancing safety for everyone traveling between reno and carson city. in crime beat... sparks police have a man in custody who they say fired shots from within a home early this morning. police responded to the three thousand block of keogh drive on a report of shots fired inside a home where there were also two teenage girls and a woman inside. a fourth woman was able to escape through the backyard. swat teams surrounded the home and negotiated with the suspect, who eventually surrendered. the women were not hurt. gordon mellinger is charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a structure and two counts of child neglect. reno police have arrested a man for murder... accused of stabbing a man to death in an apartment near midtown. police arrested ... 32 year old michael robbins... on sunday night for driving a stolen car in sparks. officers then received information that he had possibly stabbed a man in an

police responded to the apartment in the 100 block of malone avenue. there they found a man... who had been killed. he's been identified as 43 year detectives interviewed robbins... who police say admitted to the murder. he was arrested last night and charged with open murder with a deadly weapon. the carson city sheriff's office is asking for help finding a woman who went missing last summer. 40-year-old deanna rebelez was last seen in july... that's when when she was released from the carson city jail. she's five foot 3... about 135 pounds and also goes by deanna byars. if you know where she is call carson city deputies at 283-78- 54. well, as reno's image continues to change, more non-gaming hotels are popping up. especially downtown where casino hotels are historically located. hotels such as the whitney peak and the recently bought out siena hotel, which is being turned into a renissance by
