"the easiest thing about ours is that you can vote and leave we would like them all to stay for the precinct meetings but a lot of people work, they're just getting off work, they have kids at home it's just not something they're ready to do." nearly seventy people are volunteering here today at the caucus inside the nugget. organizers here in carson city have even made arrangements for representatives of the presidential candidates to be here to speak with today's participants. once people cast their ballot for the candidate of their choice they will then be given the option to leave or stay for the pricinct meetings those meetings will be held at 6pm and it will be at that time that they'll be electing delegates to go to the county convention. marti cockell-"we've tried to make it as pleasant as possible, i'm going to lead everyone

welcome back... in health watch... u-s officials are looking into more than a dozen new reports of sexually transmitted cases. several involve pregnant women. the agency says in two of the new cases, the zika virus has been confirmed in women whose only known risk factor was sexual contact with a male partner who had recently traveled to a zika hotbed.

recently traveled to zika- infected areas should use condoms or abstain from sex if their partner is pregnant or if the couple is concerned about transmitting the virus for any reason. meanwhile progress is moving forward on a vaccine for the virus in texas. as omar villafranca found out, scientists at a lab in galveston have been studying the virus for decades. the dirty white powder in this glass vial is the zika virus. "we have a sample of it! heh" doctor robert tesh of the university of texas medical branch at galveston has known about zika since the 1960's. dr. tesh: until the virus really got to brazil and there was a lot of cases, nobody was really interested in zika." omar: "times have changed" dr. tesh: times have changed and now times have changed and we realize how much we don't know" baby crying zika may be linked to the birth defect microcephaly. the condition is marked by abnormally small heads in babies due to stunted brain growth.
