with the current drought, we need all the snow we can get... and march could possibly be a good month for us. that is tonight's channel 2 news big story at 5:30 we've been dry for days now in northern nevada. and after a slow february we need a good march to further help our snow pack this year. good evening i'm landon miller . and i'm kristen remington, thanks for staying with us. could march be our miracle month? we've had both dry and wet marches in years past. angela schilling joins us live from the national weather service with more. angela? kristen, it is definitly possible to have a good snow season in march. the past few years have been poor, but the climate books shows promise in some years. 2011 was a great year for us. dawn johnson: "so a miracle march is not out of the question." the year 2011 brought us a lot

city picked up over ninety inches of snow that year. dawn johnson: "we had storms that were dropping three to five feet of snow at a time in march." and the national weather service has lots of pictures to prove it. for the month of march, tahoe city averages just under five inches of precipitation. down about an inch from february. which is not a huge difference. dawn johnson: "march we can see a variety of things take place, but it's still considered a wet month for us." in reno the average is about three forth's of an inch. as the jet stream beings to move northward, temperatures can be a little bit more of a mystery this time of year. dawn johnson: "temps can be all over the place in march." 1952 was a cold and snowy march for us in reno. that year we saw only eight days above fifty degrees and received just under thirty inches of snow in one month. just like for tahoe city, we had a good march in 2011. picking up five inches of snow out at the airport. the

a new security flaw has been uncovered, that could affect wireless mice and keyboards. john potter has more on the so- called mousejack vulnerability, that could let a hacker hijack your computer, by going through your wireless mouse. a popular way to connect a wireless mouse or keyboard to a computer is through a usb dongle. but that connection may also make you vulnerable to hackers. rouland: "they can do anything to your computer that you could as if you were sitting at it." security firm bastille discovered the new flaw and are

rouland: "if you have a wireless mouse i can attach and impersonate a wireless keyboard and arbitrarily send it, whatever, any commands i want to your computer." a hacker needs a 15 dollar antenna, several lines of code...and to be within 650 feet of a vulnerable device. in a demonstration, bastille took over this computer and was able to control it and type commands. the mousejack flaw does not affect bluetooth connections that usually show this symbol. logitech released a statement saying: "the vulnerability would be complex to replicate and would require physical proximity to the target. it is therefore a difficult and unlikely path of attack." logitech also released a software update for its wireless keyboards and mice. rouland: "in the case of microsoft, amazon, dell, hp and gigabyte users, they may need to purchase new devices, they can switch to wired devices." bastille said they discovered the flaw last november and

people between the ages of 18 and 60 -- need to sleep at least seven hours a night. that's according to two major sleep-related associations. but a national survey by the cdc shows -- more than one-third of us -- sleep less than seven hours. and that's a problem. here's why. research shows the less sleep you get -- the more risk you have for obesity -- diabetes -- heart disease -- and mental illness. to make sure you get enough shut-eye -- try to stick to a schedule. go to bed and wake up at the same times each day. including weekends. keep your room dark -- turn the thermostat low -- and get rid of electronics. yes -- put that phone away. before bed -- don't eat a big meal -- drink caffeine -- or alcohol. and during the day -- try to exercise. if you do all that and still can't get enough rest -- go to your doctor. there may be another problem that's preventing good sleep. so -- consider this your wake-up call -- to start sleeping more.
