body following yesterday's deadly boating accident. four men went into the body, two with found yesterday. we've learned today that the search for that fourth victim has been suspended indefinitely. one of those confirmed fatalities is henry medrano. he was found yesterday. the other confirmed fatality is 67-year-old melvin cox jr. from arkansas. so far authorities have not released the names of the other two men who were on that boat. the boat the men were fishing on capsized in 8-foot waves yesterday afternoon. we are learning new details about the rescue efforts according to the marin county sheriff's office. a team of us navy seals who just happened to be training in the area aided in the search and rescue efforts. the helicopter and water based search has been suspended, but rangers on shore will continue

combing the beach looking for that fourth victim. >> the beach patrols will continue for several more days, certainly, and that will be looking for the fourth individual. the clean up effort will begin tomorrow to search and remove the debris from this sensitive habitat. >> reporter: take a look, you can see how foggy conditions out out here in point reyes. that's part of the reason the search has been called off. none of the men found yesterday were found wearing any kind of protective or floating gear or life vests. at this point we're unsure whether the fourth victim was wearing a life vest, but park rangers were unable to answer that for us. we're live here at point reyes national park, christien kafton, ktvu news.

the mothers of four uc berkeley graduates are have new hope tonight after an iranian was released and sent home to tehran today. oakland police released more than a dozen photos today of their most wanted looters. police are asking for help of those raiding business in downtown oakland the night the mehserle verdict was announced. >> reporter: it's been weeks now, this sears department now on broadway is still boarded up. but today oakland police released photographs of some of the people they say were involved in the vandalism and the looting. oakland police say the images

were captured by camera phones, police and store surveillance equipment. police are asking the public to help identify people on the videos. >> the photographs are very clear of individuals that were involved in this, i know citizens of oakland are very upset about what happened in their city about having outside people come in and break into businesses. >> reporter: police say with 80 police officers laid off this week, oakland needs strong communities to help combat crimes. >> we understand that we have to be smarting in how we do our police work. >> reporter: concern other crime and police lay offs is so

connection with a string of street robberies. the teens surrendered just before noon. investigators say he's one of three suspects that are all members of the clayton high school football team. the teens are accused of stealing ipods and cell phones from other students walking down the street. a state senate committee approved a bill to keep autopsy sealed. the bill would let family members request that autopsies be sealed if their children were killed during a crime. a driver in the east bay today came across something to disturbing while passing a ranch near tracy, it prompted a quick call to authorities. it was a field with dead horses. maureen naylor is near tracy

now with the latest on what happened, maureen. >> reporter: the horses were found blind this past. the first responders of alameda county actually ran to get a bucket of water for the horses still alive but for most it was too late. we must warn you some of the images you are about to see are disturbing. the dead horses were discovered off this property near tracy around an electric tower and visible to motorist. >> i just drove by and saw the horses and -- turned around to see what had happened. i just can't imagine anybody leaving animals out here like this. >> reporter: a rancher driving by spotted the caucuses from the road and called authorities this morning. in all five horses were found dead. two still alive but very

dehydrated. investigators say this trough on the property was bone driest mated to have been empty between three and four days during which the temperatures reached into the high 90s. >> they were well nourished, it wasn't that they were without food, but water, the lack of water is what killed them. >> reporter: investigators are looking into if the water was turned out of and if this is neglect. >> if it's neglect we will make sure that the case gets submitted to the district attorney and seeks the appropriate charges. >> reporter: ktvu has learned investigators spoke with the horse's owner this afternoon who told them the owner believed the horses had access to water in a near by property, but the doors to that property

were locked. demonstratorred gathered outside to protest a downsizing in st. luke's. the medical center is trying to concentrate its efforts in richer parts of the city. >> there are only two mayor hospitals where there are about 10 hospitals and the north western part of san francisco. >> they have plans to spend $750,000 to upgrade the hospitals. an estimated 1,100 members of the nurses union protested outside meg whitman's home.

the nurses union has endorsed jerry brown for governor. they say whitman wants to pay and breaks. >> what she's doing is going after the most vulnerable are. >> reporter: whitman is campaigning in southern california and did not see today's protest first hasn't. meantime jerry brown has filed a lawsuit to force the federal government to reconsider its decision to block a clean energy program. the property assessed cleanage program or pace uses bond funds to pay for home improvement such as solar panels and better insulation. home and business owners repay that money through increased property taxes. federally regulated mortgage giants freddie mac and fannie mae say that institutions a loan.

brown says freddie mac and fannie mae already ignore similar certain assessments. june sales rose by 1.3% in the bay area with almost 8,400 homes closing escrow. the median home price was $170,000 which is unchanged. stocks turned around in the final hours of trading today on word of a possible deal between goldman sachs and the government. the settlement ends a lawsuit against the company. california has the largest number of illegal immigrants who qualify for the dream program.

california has 553,000 or 26% of the 2.1 million immigrants who could apply for legal status through the proposed federal program. texas is second with 258,000 illegal young people, followed by florida with 192,000. it is finally happened, bp today plugged its leaking oil well. details ahead. and this is gulf seafood, but is it safe to eat. today scientists are starting to find out. now we're learning who paid a record amount to own the warriors. it was near 100 degrees in some neighborhoods today. how warm or how hot will it get tomorrow? details are coming up.

own 25 minutes, but this afternoon oil stopped flowing into the gulf of mexico. bp says a tightly fitted cap is successfully keeping oil from gushing. this is the most significant milestone so far in bp's effort to control the worse oil disaster in u.s. history. the news was greeted with excitement but bp remains cautiously optimistic. >> i have to stress, we have to manage our expectation, depending on what the results are could depend on what happens next. >> i think it's fantastic, probably the best news we've had in the gulf coast since the bill back from katrina. >> engineers will spend the next several hours inspecting the well. and ktvu's john fowler is live in berkeley.

>> reporter: i'm at the popular sea salt restaurant in berkeley known for it's sustainable seafood. 45% of americans unwilling to eat gulf seafood, with the oil stopped, and an industry on the bubble, the government is eager to convince people that worry is unfounded. >> the real suffering is yet to come financially for fishermen. if we stop buying prematurely, it compounds everything. >> reporter: seafood is thighly regulated. the first sign of defense is a specially trained people take the seafood and smell it for the aroma. but scientists say there's a better way. scientists were doing tests. selected by the government.

i said warriors, it's the golden state warriors. and the fog comes in tonight and makes it out of here quickly tomorrow. 99 tonight in antioch. 99 in livermore. 99 in fairfield. high tomorrows about the same, maybe a little warmer. i think we'll see a couple of 100s officially tomorrow. high inland, mild to cool coast side. that's what we've been forecasting all week and that's what's been occurring. it will cool slightly as we head into saturday, then sunday it'll cool further as we get a lot of fog into the coast. 90degrees at noon. overnight lows in livermore, 60s. those are your overnight lows. so it'll be very warm where the fog has no penetration. the forecast today of course was warmer. friday a little warmer still. as we head into the weekend. it stays hot in the inland bay

valleys. you get the picture. this is kind of classic summer too. there's nothing that out of the ordinary here. temperatures are 100 degrees, a little above average. but if you've lived here for an amount, you expect this. those inland valleys get hot, redding, red bluff, stockton, fresno, it's going to be very hot in the inland bay valleys. low 100s in the hot spots. most of us low to upper 80s. the forecast highs, there's the heats. those are your 100s right. look at all of those coming out of the valley. still kind of cool right along the coast. i think we'll get some upper 60s right along the beaches. 83 tomorrow in richmond, 78 in salsalito. down in san jose or in san jose, 93 degrees.

it's just a very hot day tomorrow. no red flag warnings or advisoried expected. cooler big time by the end of the weekend. >> you can tell it was hot today. officials want an engineering firm to fix vibrations on the s bar. a toll authority voted yesterday to fund an engineering firm to fix the problem. a feud is brewing in santa cruz as a new law requiring i.d. to check into a hotel is closing to approval.

some 100 children are enjoying a break from their intercity surroundings tonight. many of these low income children age 7 to 16 rarely have a chance to leave their intercity neighborhoods. >> they get to swim, they get to hike, they get to do archery. it's a fantastic time. they have a blast. they do fire pits, you name it. it gives them a chance to leave the city, it gives them a new perspective of life. >> reporter: parents pay a nominal $25 registration fee. but the real cost is $200 per camper. a lot of guys thought it was going to be larry ellison but it wasn't.
