is speak egg out from his jail cell. the concord police made the arrest on two felony charges after the boy's death. here's more. >> reporter: just hours after being brought to the county jail in martinez, a soft spoken grandfather spoke out about the attack that killed the grandson. >> my wife found my grandson in the garage mauled. i don't know how long he was in the garage because i wasn't at home. if i was at home, it wouldn't have happened. >> reporter: the 51-year-old was not at home at the time of the attack and says he doesn't know how jacob got into the garage.

>> reporter: there were a total of five pit bulls at the home. neighbors told ktvu that the dogs scared them, but the grand nor says he never saw the dogs acting aggressively toward the children. >> >> reporter: still, he admitted that a year ago, one of the dogs killed the family ease chiquaqua. he said he kept all of the dogs because his son wanted him to. >> keeping the

claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police released the name of a man shot and killed in front of his home this morning right after he returned from work. they have identified the victim as a 53 -year-old. the shooting happened outside the home just before 2:00 a.m. the neighbors said they heard gunshots and when they looked outside, they saw him lying in front of his car. they said he was a pleasant person who kept to himself. >> he is a kind man. he doesn't mess with anybody. he goes to work and comes home. >> homicide detectives are trying to determine a motive for the killing. criminals have been keeping the police busy in oakland.

nine customers inside the green bubble restaurant were robbed just before 11:00 last night. the restaurant was robbed as well. there's no word yet on the discorruption of the suspects. two years ago, there was a take over of the restaurants. and is police were involved in a chase. taz police pursued the car, the riders opened all of the doors and jumped out. the police caught up with the driver of the car. he was arrested. police say the car was stolen. things are getting back to normal between bart's line and the airport. service was interrupted for a short time because of reports that a man was on the track. witness say they saw a young, white man with a mohawk jump

tori. when the wind blows, you can still smell marijuana in the air. the fire spread to all three floors. now, around 5:15 this morning, oakland firefighters responded to the call of a fire at this building. firefighters say the flames were come frog the backside of the building on the first floor and quickly spread to higher levels of the apartment building. >> we chased the fire onto the second floor and discovered a marijuana plant on the third floor. >> reporter: now, chief usher said his crew had to battle the fire on different floors. once on the top floor, that's when firefighters found dozens of pot plants in dozens of stages of growth. >> the third floor, there were extra rooms in there and both of the

continues but no trial date was set. the court is concerning the accusation that he knowingly used enhancement drugs. today's hearing comes one month after prosecutors lost a crucial fight in the case. the judge barred them from using positive blood and urine results. veteran news man daniel shore has died at the age of 93. shore spent the bulk of his career on cbs news and was on president nixon's enemy list in the 1970s. he left cbs to teach at uc berkeley and joined cnn the year before it went on the air.

in recent years, he worked on the radio. a spokeswoman said he died at the hospital after a short illness. today, we learned the identities of the six people who were killed in the bus crash in fresno. the authorities are saying that the three women died after the suv flipped. a bus ran into them and the bus ran down an embankment, hitting a tree. the bus driver who had driven for greyhound for 33 years was killed. two ladies from mexico on their way to visit relatives were killed as well. people who appreciate the beauty of the park are shocked over the vandalism. 14 young elm trees and one

thieves stealing personal information at an atm. a card skimmer was used and it's an electronic device that attached to an atm. the information is used to create fake cards. they may have stolen information from as many as 50 customers. we are learning more about the man arrested at the end of a big man hunt along the bay in sals lee to. 30 officers searched for a fugitive considered armed and dangerous who was found hiding between the docks. it happened after an officer recognized him riding in a car. the driver pulled over, but the fugitive took off running to
