trying to dub them over looking for clues about their suspect. police say the victim and his daughter pulled into this gas station this morning. the father got out of the car to pay, left his five-year-old daughter in a car and that is when a mini van pulled up alongside and the unthinkable happened. one of the suspects from that vehicle gets out and gets into his cadillac. our victim had left his keys in the car and the suspect takes his car and then was last seen driving on to carlton boulevard. >> investigators say the father immediately called 911 but he was so distraught it took a while for dispatchers to figure out exactly what had happened. by 6:05 neighbors a few miles away were calling police to report an abandoned 5-year-old girl. police put two and two together. >> we were quickly able to link the two. the father and the doughtry united after ten mitts but i can't imagine would it be like to not know where your child was for that long. >> reporter: by 7:15 this morning neighbors from a few blocks away called police to report that the distinctive

gold and black cadillac had been dumped, no signs of the suspect. the little girl was only able to describe him as a black man with a baseball cap. police seized the car and are processing it for evidence. investigators say this is not just a simple car theft. >> it is a kidnapping. because the girl was in the car, whether the thief knew it or not the fact is that the girl was in the back of the car and she was taken for some time because she was dropped off. >> reporter: back out to our live shot again you can see those detectives still in there with the attendant here at the gas station, again looking for any clues. investigators again told me they do not believe that the suspect knew that the little girl was in the back seat of that car but they say that makes no difference. they are still treating this like a kidnapping. live in richmond, christien kafton, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, christian. antioch police are investigating three overnight shootings to see if they are connected. the first shooting killed a 20- year-old man on banon way after
