sight? -- weather in sight? good mornling to you. welcome to mornings on 2. >> i am dave. >> i am tory campbell. danville police are interviewing witnesses after a tragic overnight accident involving a group of teenagers. craig is at the police station where the latest. good morning craig. >> reporter: good morning tory, police will need more time before they issue a citation or perhaps refer this case for charges to district attorney. police say they interviewed and are interviewing several teens at police headquarters right now. police told me what happened overnight appears to be an accident. the victim was standing near the intersection of dell amigo and glen around midnight last night. a group of the men's friends pulled up in a white toyota land cruiser.

they were headed to a nearby home. they jumped on the side of the vehicles as it started to pull away slowly and fell off. the man died on the scene. >> i can tell you the driver of the car felt very upset, and was heartbroken that this accident occurred. he was one of the people that called 911. >> reporter: the chief says it appears all teens are friends they will do a toxicology report on the victim and test the driver for drugs and or alcohol but right now there are no obvious signs of either. why police believe the victim was on the particular street last night waiting for friends. reporting live in danville, craig devero, ktvu channel 2 news. we are following developing news in columbia. one person has died after a jet liner carrying 13 is people crashed -- 131 people crashed

police from several agencies were on scene within minutes after a midnight caller reported two gun men went inside. police ordered the dozen employees to leave the super market while they searched for nearly an hour. they didn't find anyone inside and the employees told them they didn't find any gun men. there were no customers inside at this time. breaking news a las vegas news station reporting there has been a shooting at the valley hospital in las vegas. police reportly say there is a man dead and a woman is in critical condition. these are live pictures right now there outside the valley hospital in las vegas. see a couple police cars. one man dead, a woman in critical condition we will continue to follow the latest developments and bring you an update as soon as we get it. >> federal agents leading the investigation into the fire that destroyed the post office

downtown heels burg it started saturday evening sonoma county city near the russian river. there is no sign of arson and believe it is electrical wiring in the old building that may have started the fire. long time residents say this former safeway store has been far more than a place to drop off mail and buy stamps. >> this is heart breaking it was never the most attractive building but the center of town, you ran into everybody at the post office. >> they talked about tearing it down. people's wills prevailed. you saw everyone you knew. it is a shame to lose it. >> it is not clear how much mail was lost in the fire the postal service says mail delivery will continue today out of the other post office. this is the first day back to school for some bay area school districtfor students and teachers at a school in san jose things will be

on trace elementary. the fencing contractor was here before the sun came up, he said he just wanted to make sure crews would be here to put final touches on the fences to makeure things are safe. we have seen them welding and spray painting. there have been a lot of long hours this last month as they raced to get things up and ready. the superintendent says really everyone has come together and says it will take a little getting used to. >> so our first and second graders will be across the street, the building that burnt down holds mostly first and second grade classrooms. brought in extra staff and they will be here throughout the year and that will be assisting with safety with extra crossing guards and because safety of our students is one of our primary concerns. >> reporter: if you take a look at images from that july 5th fire you get a look how far they had to travel to get here today. it was a six alarm fire

10 heading eastbound toward pomona out of baldwin park. completely shut down. dramatic because two people who allegedly burglarized and actually robbed a shooting range and taken the money and perhaps guns from this shooting range, lead police on a high speed chase. a man and woman. they were just taken into custody eastbound on the 10, in the area of baldwin park, los angeles county they even had some of the surrounding roads below the freeway shut down as they did this high felony stop here. now they are looking into the vehicle. apparently the -- they have two people in custody but they are being careful. this came to an end with no shoot out they did take two people in this truck into custody after the truck got a flat tire, speeds 90 miles an hour at some points city

7:22 a.m. burlingame city council will decide whether to merge its police department with san mateo's. council could also okay paying half the bill for the $88,000 feasibility study. if that happens san mateo is expected to approve the other half of the money. both cities are looking for ways to save money in the face of a tough economy. new information on that disastrous off track racing accident in mohave desert. hundreds of stunned fans watched in horror as 8 people were killed during an off road truck race. chp says 7 victims were from los angeles, one from las vegas. the deadly crash happened saturday night during a california 200 race, 100 miles northeast of los angeles witnesses say one driver lost control of his truck which smashed into the crowd. >> i was facing the other way and the truck had come over and when it came up it caught air

ktvus craig devero is at the police station where officers are interviewing witnesses. good morning craig. >> reporter: good morning tory. this looks like a horrible accident police say that could change depending what other witnesses may have to tell them or if they find out drugs and alcohol were involved in what happened but right now, that does not look like the case. police say the unidentified 19- year-old died after falling off the side of an suv. the man was on glen road near del amy go when a group of friends in a toyota land cruiser. they may have been in the area attending a party. the people in the vehicle were on their way to a nearby home and the victim wanted to join them. it is not clear why the victim jumped on to the vehicle as it pulled away at a slow rate of speed. he died after falling from the suv. his death looks accidental. >> we have to get all the facts, identify potential witnesses, we will go through

run driver in san francisco. a german tourist was killed friday night after big hit. the 38-year-old driver fled the scene but was arrested two blocks away. time 7:31 a.m. oakland, four people shot during a 3 hour period overnight. it happened in three different parts of oakland, one was at a recreation center inside a royal i have eye owe community park. good morning jade. >> reporter: good morning we've checked with oakland police and as far as we know they don't have a motive in this specific shooting involving two teenage boys but we know they are following important leads because the shooters left behind several different shell casings from different weapons. we can show you paramedics rushing the two teens to the hospital last night both teen boys are being treated for multiple gunshot wounds. the shooting happened before 9:00 p.m.

for the gunman who shot a man several times, 32nd and magnolia, 11:30 p.m. last night. the victim listed in critical condition. no word of a motive. also an hour earlier more gunfire happened during an attempted robbery 59th street not far from berkeley border. one victim was taken to a nearby hospital shot several times he is expected to survive. police are still looking for the gunman. so far police don't believe the shootings are related. 7:34 a.m. a man suspected of attacking three women at a walnut creek apartment complex due to make his first court appearance. 22-year-old man faces rape, attempted rape and burglary charges and accused of three assaults at parkeri gypsy apartments. investigators are trying to determine if he had friends there and why women there were targeted he was caught friday on bart after a chase. his bail is set at $12 million.
