>> it already has, pam -- [ inaudible ] >> -- they will drop, they being san francisco, about 20 degrees today. the fog is already back, the wind is out of the west at travis to 20 miles an hour and even a southwest wind at vacaville, that all spells cooler, so 50s, 60s, 70s and a few low 80s. more on this in about five minutes. here is sal with an update on your traffic. >> good on 80 westbound although getting busier to the bay bridge toll plaza. this morning looking at traffic moving along nicely at the toll plaza. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. we continue to follow developing news from marin county this morning. right now crews are putting out hot spots from an early morning fire. it started a short time ago just off highway 101 on southbound 101 near sir francis drake boulevard in larks spur. crews were able to keep the flames from nearby homes but the fire is still causing

traffic problems. sal will have more details later. >> this morning the coast guard resumes a search of the waters near tiberon responding to a may day call. last night a woman made a calm telling the coast guard she was dealing with some kind of emergency but didn't give details. it is believed that call came from an area east of the tiberon peninsula. the coast guard will send a helicopter over this area. we will be there as well. >> it was a violent night in oakland with a rash of shootings. they all happened right about the same time just after 10:00 last night. now a man was shot at foothill boulevard and scwond avenue. a woman was shot on 79th avenue and holly street and a man and a woman were shot at 36th street and west street. ktvu channel 2 reporter jade hernandez joins us now from oakland with more on all this violence, jade. >> reporter: good morning. investigations are not unusual

in oakland but last night the calls began rolling in. three shootings all within an hour as you minced. the first happened at foothill boulevard and 62nd avenue where a man was shot. someone shot the man in the back. let's take a look at that video right there. while officers were helping that victim someone drove up to them and reported another shooting on 79th avenue and holly streets. officers found a woman there. her finger had been shot off. paramedics rushed her to highland hospital. then decision patchers sent officers on their third shooting of the night. two victims were found in that shooting, a man and woman. their injuries were more severe, it appears they were sitting in their car when they were shot. both were rushed to highland hospital and surgery once they arrived. they are in critical condition. at this point these shootings don't seem to be connected but no information was reamessed about any of the victims. this morning the department is asking for anyone with any information about the shootings

to call police immediately. we have contacted the police department for more information. as soon as we get any more updates we will pass that information along town. reporting live in oakland their morning, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >> in just a few hours police officers and volunteers will return to pittsburgh's keller canyon landfill. they will begin day five of the painstaking search for frederick salas. the 35-year-old nursing aid from hercules has been missing for nearly two weeks. investigators fear he may be the 5th victim of last week's deadly rampage. efrain valdemoro is suspected of killing his father along with three other people. >> we are finding out more about a homicide. police found the victim near the hotel yesterday morning. that victim has been identified as 26-year-old julius hues from the brentwood area. investigators say hughes was a

suspect any homicide in san francisco two years ago but the charges were dropped. police say he was attending a big party that ended in gunfire. >> there was a series of between 5 and 10 gunshots very rapid fire and then some very very angry words and they used a racial expletive that you don't want to hear. >> ktvu news obtained this picture of that sunday night pool party on a twitter account. police estimate as many as 400 people were there. investigators tarnow questioning many of those party guests to search for that man's killer. >> well, the noise created by a bart train can be as loud as a jackhammer. the chronicle is reporting that several locations on the system can have noise level loud enough to cause hearing damage. kraig debro is in oakland now with more on this report, kraig. >> reporter: good morning, pam. we are at the west oakland bart station. a lot of people come here

before going into the city into san francisco. and if you have ever ridden on the transbay tube you know that once you are inside the tube the noise that the train makes on the track makes it hard to talk or even be heard. [ inaudible ] >> reporter: according to a story in this morning's chronicle the noise levels along parts of the system's 208 miles of track can reach unhealthy levels but are not sustained long enough to actually cause ears -- damage to the ears, according to the national institute for occupation safety and health. noise levels are measured in desbells, and there are 23 points along the track that reach levels that sound like a construction site. it has passengers thinking about their ears. >> i am not really sure. without a professional opinion, you know, loud music when you are young affects you too, so they say it is --

morning after a police chase and crash on the street of oakland at 12:30 early this morning after police tried to pull him over for speeding. the driver reportedly refused to stop, then sped down the parkway before crashing. >> he ended up running into the median and disabling his car. he fled from the car. officers gave foot pursuit of the vehicle and he was taken into custody. >> officers found a gun in some nearby bushes. a background check revealed that the driver was a parolee who was out on bail for another offense. >> all right. time now 6:08. let's check in with sal early on a tuesday morning right after a holiday. how are we looking sal? >> things are getting a little busier dave and pam right now traffic is moving along okay, though, for the most part off to a nice start. highway 4 looks good in bay point but slowing through antioch as is normal the case there in the two lane section just west of brentwood and

live with how the church is responding. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, dave. and in just the last hour the head of a small gainesville, florida church went on live tv and said while he is concerned bought putting u.s. soldier's lives at risk his church will likely still go ahead with plans to burn the koran on september 11th. the church with just 50 members has sparked an international uproar, it wants to burn the core rashes to draw attention to what it calls radical islam but in afghanistan the top u.s. commander general david petraeus and others say the act would hurt the u.s. mission and put u.s. troops in danger. pastor terry jones said it would be tragic if troops lost their lives but he wants to stand up to islam. >> overseas we see they have no problem burning our flag, they have no problem calming for the death of america or for the death of our president so we feel it is time to stand up. >> reporter: now, if the church goes ahead with its plans to push the koran this weekend it

will be breaking local laws the church has twice aplayed for local permits to build a bond fire but has been denied. reporting live from washington, d.c., alison burns, ktvu channel 2 news. >> overnight police in los angeles made several arrests during a violent protest. demonstrators faced off with police late last night, some throwing bottles and setting trash cans on fire. now the protests stemmed from sunday's shooting death of a caught maland man who police say was say was armed with a knife. more complaibts about pge ut pge and e's smart meters.

they say they smarts emitting static after smart meters were installed. the pg&e response is that the problem is we the dwoises not the meters. >> san francisco supervisors will vote on whether to add a new tax to the cost of alcoholic drinks called the alcohol cost recovery fee and would add three to five cents to the cost of a bottle of beer, a glass of wine or any drink. now the idea is to help the city recoup up to 16 million dollars a year in healthcare costs related to school abuse. alcohol distributers and san francisco restaurants are opposing that fee. >> our emergency transport and our fire department, for treatment, prevention services and hospitalization of people whose lives are really shattered by alcohol. >> pretty soon the customer is going to get fed up and not- maybe you know drink in a hotel room. buy their liquor in a liquor

is fueling a wildfire in the foothills near boulder. hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate and there are reports that dozens of homes have been burned, including at least four owned by firefighters. high winds have grounded firefighting planes and helicopters, there are no reports of injuries but man yay evacuees say they could feel the heat from the flames as they left. crews are expected to return to the petalooma river this morning to clean up an oil leak. it covers a two mile stretch from downtown petalooma to highway 101. the source is an old tugboat being torn apart. it was first noticed yesterday morning, so far 600 gallons have made it into the river. officials say there is no harm to wildlife in the area but it is still unclear how long the clean up will take. the cause is under

investigation. >> an incident in a dog park area could lead a limit on the number. police say a 69-year-old woman scratched and bit a 37-year-old man as he tried to break up a fight between her and another dog owner at the city's dog park. next month a park and recreation committee will consider whether to change the rules. some people say the economy is playing a part in the increasing number of disputes. >> there has been a lot of layoffs and people losing their jobs. i have seen a lot of people come into the dog park where you know this is where they come with their pets because they are stressed out. >> now some dog owners suggested people are taking dog squirm issues a little too personally, while others say people simply need to use some common sense. >> well, a busy night for oakland police. the string of shootings that happened all within one hour. >> in just about 15 minutes we expect the coast guard helicopter to go on a search

the end of the week. what is going on in that system, the leading edge of a cold front starting to move in that is going to increase the fog, that it has done. it will lift it starting tonight into tomorrow and also picked up that west wind, so cooler and breezy, the fog has returned. upper 70s low 80s inland. san francisco 84 yesterday. today 64. fog and low clouds. cooler and breezy. 50s santa rosa napa. a chill for some. a couple of upper 40s, mid-50s to upper 50s including livermore and concord, pal a alto and redwood city both 55. 40s and 30s blown tans, 70s desert, 50s and 60s the coast. ukia 51. decent system for this time of year and an even stronger one next week. the pattern will continue so this gives us a cool down today. that will linger right into tomorrow. an additional drop in the temperatures. now, this time of year we start to get late in the season for the fog so this may be strong
