voted against a bill. you will recall the whitman campaign showed bill clinton attacking jerry brown. also today, carlie fiorina responded to an ad about hewlett-packard outsourcing jobs by calling on her opponent, senator boxer, to return campaign donations from contributors also outsource jobs overseas. the upcoming election will bring about a first for oakland, berkeley and san leandro. they will use a new system that allows voters to pick their top three candidates for local races. allie rasmus is live to complain. >> reporter: heather, usually when you cast your ballot, you pick one candidate and your vote goes that one person, but in parts of alameda county, that is going to change next month. there is a new system called ranked voter choice and according to the sample ballot, you can see that troat voters choose their first, second and third-place candidates. >> your first choice is who you really want to win.

sean. tarquin thomas claims he was mentally unstable of knowing that sex with children was wrong. the software designer made videotapes of sexual encounters with three underaged boys. thomas will be sentenced on december 3rd. three men have been acquitted of assault and torture charges in connection with a brutal beating of a high school basketball player in vallejo last year. attack at jesse bethel high school was captured by surveillance camera and left 17- year-old lee unconscious and with certification injuries. defense attorneys argued that lee's teammates and three girls started the fight. five other people charged in the attack are still awaiting trial. oakland police chief is weighing in for the first time on the shooting of a family's 11-year-old labrdoor retriever.
