receiving text messages that were supposed to intimidate her son. sal castaneda has the story. >> reporter: the team in the blue, that's the freshman football team. they are without at least six of their players tonight after they have been suspended for a hazing incident that allegedly took place in the locker room. seven players on the freshman team are being investigated for a hazing incident involving one of their teammates last wednesday before practice. the incident occurred in the locker room which at the time was not being supervised by an adult. school officials say surveillance video and the recording by one of the students doing the hazing allowed them to see exactly what happened. >> they taped his legs together, a couple of kids held him down. there were some punches thrown and there were a group of students that were spectators but were egging on the whole thing. >> reporter: the hazing victim's student quickly called

school administrators and filed a report with police. >> upset not only about the event but after the event there are students who started texting her son. you know saying be a good guy. don't get us all in trouble, don't tell what happened that kind of stuff. and it was really, that's where you startedded to see the cyber bullying, the intimidation. >> reporter: after the incident came to light, the freshman team football game was cancelled. students were suspended, six were kicked off the football team and one was suspended. one girl tells us she's upset about what happened. >> school is supposed to be safe, how is it supposed to be safe whening when this is happening in the locker room. >> reporter: this parent says that bullying is different from when he was in high school. >> now they are able to go home and continue the bullying through the computer. >> reporter: and the school

plans to teach all the students or send all the students to anti bullying classes later on this school year. live in martinez, sal castaneda, ktvu news. the bomb squad was send to craigmont school. the school was evacuated and some schools adjacent were closed down as a precaution. the bomb squad detonated the package. investigators say it appears to be a lunchbox with wires in it. no one was injured, the school was not damaged. a second lawsuit has been failed against pg & e in connection with last month's explosion. it demands that pg & e turn over a victim's fund to an

independent party. pg & e has not commented on the suit. an angry protest in san francisco led to several people being taken into custody. the protest was aimed at attorney general jerry brown. at issue a program that is either horrible or making the city safer. all depends on who you're talking to. ktvu's david stevenson live in san francisco tonight with more on this. david. >> reporter: things have calmed down outside the state building since a ruckus protest this afternoon that led to 15 people being taken into custody. four dozen immigrants rights activists denounced jerry brown this morning outside his san francisco office. demanding he help the county opt out of a community's program. >> he was the one that allowed i.c.e. into california to implement

this horrible program. >> reporter: secure communities giving agents access to a state data bay of fingerprints taken at county jails. i.c.e. officials says scom is making the nation safer by catching criminals that shouldn't be here. protesters say s-comm is hurting the áf the state. six were taken into custody after they refused to leave brown's office. >> we have done nothing wrong but ask that someone come speak to us about this. >> reporter: since s-comm, 1,600 people have been deported, 18 had previous convictions ranging from serious crimes to misdemeanor.

anymore, the same way she did with her housekeeper. >> reporter: one of whitman's main focuses is jobs in california and that she would be open to meeting with the farm workers to discuss their concerns. authorities have set up a statewide dragnet in their attempt to find a man who they say intentionally ran over a motorcycle officer in freemont. tonight that policeman is continuing his recovery. ktvu's maureen naylor with new information from investigators, maureen. >> reporter: gasia, freemont police issued a warrant to release this man. they released this photo this afternoon, they say the parolee tried to kill one of their officers and may be headed to southern california. the suspects name is alejandro diazen parol for grand theft. diaz stole this delivery truck then intentionally ran over a freemont motorcycle officer who spotted diaz on warm springs road. >> someone should know who he is or have contact with him,

please call your police department. don't try to contact him yourself, he's obviously a very dangerous person. >> reporter: police also released a photo of the injured officer. 43-year-old patrick brower, the husband and father of three is recovering of a broken leg in san jose. his colleagues say that it's a miracle brower survived. >> it's a miracle he survived he voiced that to me this morning. >> reporter: investigators were at the hospital to show officer brower a photo line up. it comes after an associate of his was detained last night at the south hay ward bart station. >> right now it's pretty much getting the word out to the difference agencies, especially that in los angeles, southern california and we're with working closely with them to try to locate people who might know him. family, acquaintances.

>> reporter: brower is the second officer to be injured. officer brower is likely to go home later this week. here's one more like at alexander diaz. border patrol officers were advised to keep a look out for him. he is still at large at this hour. maureen naylor, ktvu channel 2 news. contra costa county sheriff's invest investigators are now asking for the public's help to find a man who attempted to rape a fourth woman. they released a sketch of the suspect. he's described as white, about 5'9" tall, he had a medium build, white hair andfacient hair. the rape attempt happened on oak road near walnut creek. another suspect is being charged in three prior attacks and was in jail when the two most recent assaults happened. one person remains in critical condition at this hour

when a three car accident happened this morning. the crash blocked traffic for nearly eight hours. the driver slammed head on into a toyota carolla critically injuring the driver of that car and injuring two people in another car. at that point, police say the driver of the suspect vehicle ran off. >> the driver and another male passenger of the vehicle took often on foot. the officers began the investigation and rendering aid to the people involved in the collision. >> reporter: tonight the suspect is being charged with suspicion of felony dui. the treasury department said today that the federal government's ball street bail out program will cost far less

than previously thought. the widely unpopular bail out was designed to help companies. the two year $700 billion program is now expected to cost taxpayers $50 billion. a treasury report says the bail out succeeded in many of its goals preventing a deeper financial crisis. the program officially ended last friday. droid phones are increasing in popularity. they captured 32% of u.s. smart phone sales in august. and they outfold both the iphone and the blackberry. the new numbers are a big improvement from january when new android phones trailed competitors. following promising news about if service sector, stocks rose. investors were reacting to a

tonight a heroing story of a little girl kidnapped then recovered in fresno. she was lured by a man who said he would buy her some toys if she would come with him. later, a good samaritan jumps into action and recovers the girl. >> she's saying, please whoever has her daughter, to bring her back. all she wants is her daughter back home. as the girl's daughter pleaded for her daughter's safe return. police launched an all out search. >> we know that the more time that passes, the less opportunity we have of finding this child alive. >> reporter: the abduction happened last night, police say the man now identified as 24- year-old gregorio gonzalez grabbed her and took off. police say he's a fresno area gang member on felony

possession. gonzalez took her to a wooded area and sexually assaulted the little girl and threatened her with more violence. then gonzalez drove back into the city, where his truck was spotted by a man who knew about the abduction. gonzalez exposed himself to two girls. at first he saw only the driver then saw a little girl's head pop up. >> evidently she had been on the floorboard or laying down on the seat. and he realized right then and there he had the suspect vehicle. >> reporter: police say the good samaritan blocked the truck and the suspect opened the girl and pushed the little girl out. >> the fact that we were able to locate approximately 11 hours after the abduction, truly a miracle of god that she's with us today. we certainly beat the odds.

>> reporter: tonight gonzalez is facing a string of charges including kidnapping, sexual assault and false imprisonment. several people have identified him from the good samaritan who saw him in the vehicle to others from the kidnapping scene. governor arnold schwarzenegger has signed a bill requiring auto manufacturers to reduce the amount of cooper used in brakes. there's concerns about the tiny pieces of cooper that fall on to the street every time drivers use their brakes. scientists say those particles ends up on watershed run off and can solve salmon. they say cooper confusing the salmon's sense of smell. from record setting heat to record setting rainfall, an early winter storm has swamped reno. more than half an inch of rain has swamped reno breaking a record set back in 1984. the storm has dropped enough snow on top of the sierra to

force the closure of the 101. and there's a weather advisory for reno, carson city and fresno. the u.s. geological service says a 4.4 magnitude quake was located west of eureka. the u.s. geological service says the largest was a 3.3 magnitude quake that hit just before 6:30 this morning. the quake struck an area north of henry coast state park in the foothills about 20 miles east of san jose, the usgs says the quake was the tpoáufrts in this region since last night. we talked about the rain in reno a second ago. and bill martin is here to tell us, there is rain just not right here just yet. it's definitely a wide

to europe. the alert was made after a terror suspect in u.s. custody warned of a mumbai style attack. as four year colleges are getting more crowded and more expensive there's a renewed focus now on community collegeless. according to a new ap stanford poll released today. 70% rated community college education as excellent or good. the survey also says that 62% think community colleges prepare students for the work force. that's only a slightly lower number than the 68% who said four year colleges adequately prepare students for jobs. the survey comes the same day as president obama and education leaders gather in washington for a first ever community college summit. joe biden's wife jill biden who is a community college teacher was the host of the event. president obama said community colleges are the gate ways to a better life and called them one of the keys to boost jobs and the economy. >> we know for example that in

surveillance camera that appears to show two people breaking into a home. the flier identifies them as thieves and encouraging people to hunt them down. the flier accuses the two suspects of burglary and states they have been stealing medical marijuana and anything else of value. the pictures were taken from surveillance video. though the video tape owner has not made his or her identity public. the flier invites victims to watch and hunt the guy and his buddy. people we spoke to said they weren't upset of the fliers. they say it's a good thing to be vigilant. >> they're not into it for

go until election day, democrats need immigrants, especially latino's to show up at the polls. out of latino registered voters nationwide, 2/3 say they would support democrats in local congressional races. the question is, will they show up at the polls. >> comes to motivation, how likely are latino's to actually turn out to vote. what we found is we found latinos are less motivated or less engaged than the general u.s. polllation. >> reporter: the survey allegation found that immigration trails education, jobs and health care as a top voting issue among latinos. we're just learning now sort of puzzling scene is happening south of the bay area. researchers are helping to identify the cause of death of a whale. the whale is about 80 feet long

for the financial future of its financial future. frito lay is pulling their environmentally friendly chip bag. the company is returning to its old bag only 18 months. it has received a lot of complaints that the bag was too loud. some people were comparing the noise from everything from a lawn mower to a jet engine. sun chip sales have declined over 11% in the past year. according to a new study, people who work in noisy places for at least a year and a half could have triple the risk of heart problems. those heart problems include severe chest pain and in some cases heart attacks. authors of the study say 22 million americans work in environments with a hazardous noise level. >> there's a new guideline concerning the iron needs of children.

weather system is my point. let me show you what we have in terms of cloud cover. none of it, let me tell you, i wish it would rain. i wish we would get a good dose of rain. this is a nuisance shower activity that will be with us tomorrow. and here is 12 hour loop and you can see how everything is spinning our way. right now the activity is mainly out toward bakersfield and fresno. the winds will stay up between 10 and 14 hours an hour. they will be out into the north- northeast is what we're going to be seeing. temperatures into the 60s for most of us and low 70s. mid-70s for some of us. the computer model does this, and you see this is forecasting rain. we're going to stop it right here. about 3:00, we have a little activity shower here. these are not a big deal, but this gives you an idea. the computer model says, there's a chance for something
