released from an iran prison last month appearing with her mother and close friends in oakland she once again asked iran officials to set free her fiancee and their friend. the two have been held in a prison for 14 months now. and she says she will keep fighting for their freedom until they were released. >> i can hear shane and jussen telling me now to speak louder for them, cry out for them and to ask the world to help me and help us to release them. >> she says she has had no communication with the two since her release. she and her friends also wrote letters of support to the two in prison today and urged other people to do the same. the daughter and son make budget measures taken by uc berkeley officials is leading to action. a money raising campaign so save sports kicked off today. alley joins us now live with

details, salary? >> reporter: well heather, it is come coming weekend and there is people wearing their gear after today's game but there was a homecoming valley not about football but instead the future of five other sports on the uc berkeley campus. they smiled for the cameras, stood together and seemed upbeat but these student athletes say they are worried about the future of their sports. >> we view the sport as untouchable so getting news like that wasn't very pleasant. >> reporter: cal baseball player cal is talking about the university's decision to cut men's baseball, rugby, gymnastics and lacrosse. >> we're in toff time now and the budget concerns with the university are a big issue. >> reporter: but the members of the save cal bears committee say these student athletes shouldn't be punished. the group hosted a homecoming pep rally of sorts this morning

and announced the start of a campaign to raise money to keep the team going. >> so that comes from a lot of friends of baseball and there are a lot of us out there that can make it happen. >> reporter: dan says it's not just a matter of the baseball team being self-sufficient. >> it needs to be a package solution. >> reporter: that's because of title nine requirements which man dade the university have a certain number of male and female athletes. >> we're for that and got the women's gymnastics team here. we're about supporting all the programs here. >> reporter: he says to sustain all five teams, donors need at least $80 million. >> nothing is impossible but it's a mighty steep hill to climb. >> reporter: cal alumni came out to show support. brittany says she and others want their teams restored and will consider taking legal action to do it. >> the last thing i want to do is file a lawsuit because i wouldn't want to then take away from the students that are are

tab. a san francisco nightclub known for its salsa dancing turned into a crime scene early this morning. san francisco police say they received a report of gunfire at cafe cocoa moe at 12:00 this morning. officers located a 23-year-old man who had been shot inside that club. the victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. police say there is no description of the gunman who witnesses say fled the scene. in say know ma county a 43-year-old woman was killed and three girls injured when the trailblazer they were riding in hit two trees and rolled interest a ravine. the deceased victim is identified. highway patrol says the driver was an 18-year-old and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. in san francisco police are serging for a hit-and-run driver who slammed into a car injure i three women. the incident began when officers tried to make a traffic stop

near 17th. officers say the driver immediately sped off crashed a few blocks away, got out of the car and ran from the scene. police say they were not engaged a high speed pursuit when the accident occurred. the three women suffered minor injuries. there was a rally to drum up support for the controversial sit live proposal before it goes to voters. the mayor police chief and city councilwoman were all in attendance. it's actually a supervisor there. the proposition l would prohibit people from sitting or lying on city streets. the homeless but the mayor argues it may force people into getting help. >> there is nothing compassion et about walking by someone who is suffering. there is nothing compassion et by just looking the other way. >> i just want to talk about -- >> the group also urged people to vote no on proposition m. that's the measure that could

near southbound 101 north of mckee road in san jose. the blaze began a little over an hour ago setting fire to trees and grass along the side of the highway and sending smoke. the chc says it has closed a right lane to traffic to allow fire trucks to circle the flames. an accident occurred on 101 the same time the fire was reported but it's unclear if the crash caused the fire or drivers were just districted by the blaze. more on the weather conditions there in the south. let's check in with our meteorologist mark and a little windy. >> a bit of a breeze out there healther and mike. no red flag warnings but a freeze of 15 to 16 miles an hour. the fog bank is just offshore is mostly skies. san jose airport the fire out of the forth west around 16 miles an hour and a current temperature around 72 degrees.

reports of apple making an iphone for verizon users are gaining steam. a new new york times report out late last night sites sources briefed by apple that say that iphone could be coming to verizon by early next year. rumors about the move have been swirling over the last few days and currently the iphone is only available through at&t. apple and verizon have not gone on the record to confirm or deny that deal. >> sure would make a lot of people happy out there.

speaking of happy, cows really really great performance by them today. >> ran all over them you might say. the cal goal and bears had two weaks to study and the extra homework seemed to work. they are already starting the brewins 7-0 when ucla's jonathan gets the ball stripped and josh hill recovers at the 17-yard line and cal running back who rushed for 151 yards today scored twice makes a great stiff arm. bears ran for 304 yards today and held the brewers to 267 yards on the ground. quarterback kevin raleigh keeps the play alive and that's a 10-yard touchdown and 21-0. here is the icing on the cake. the fourth quarter reverse. look at marvin jones. jones doesn't even get touched but scores from 48 yards out and cal wins 35-7 and they are three
