with a single punch. and after holding the bat in the fireplace, he struck him. if waders is found guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parol. live in stockton, jim vargas, ktvu channel 2 news. a san francisco man is out on bail today after he was accused of allegedly tracking down and beating a priest. william lynch says he was abused by that priest back in 19. lindner has denies abusing anyone and has not been charged. right now we don't know the condition or the where abouts of the priest. lynch is accused of assault with a deadly weapon and released on bond. he is expected to be arraigned

sometime last month. a note is shedding new light on a suicide pack made by two hayward teenage twins. one committed suicide and the other was stopped. >> reporter: we know now the 15- year-old was found was affixuated with a rope. did he act alone, did he act with help? officials cannot know until they talk to his brother. scaring the resident out and stabbing himself with kitchen knives and urging arriving officers to shoot him, even lunging at him. but seeing that he was suicidal, they tasered him. the note describes a genuine

unhappiness with life. >> there's no real reason why, there's nothing specifically pointed out. there's no traumatic incident that's pointed out. it just basically says that they are unhappy and they have been unhappy and when they seem that they are happy, it's a facade. >> reporter: the note isn't explicit about suicide, but says the two plan to disappear, it apologizes to their family. reassures them it's not their fault and urges them not to search for them. now the surviving twin is still in the hospital, but expected to recover and detectives don't think they'll have a clear picture of what really happened in that ravine until they can talko him. reporting live in san leandro, debra villalon. in the moments after mehserle shot oscar grant, the former bart police officer said he learned they shared a common bond. father fatherhood, for thfirst time

cowboys just within sight of the stadium will also have a game. so it'll be a lot of traffic around the stadium. ken pritchett. while the giants are playing in texas, san francisco wants to make sure that fans get to see the game should the team clench the series. so the city says it will put up a big screen when the team is one game away from clenching. if the giants win the game tomorrow, you'll be able to watch game four on sunday. you can watch all of the games including game three right here hon ktvu channel 2 news, or ktvu channel 2 sorry excuse me. and tomorrow's game starts a little earlier than usual. coverage begins at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. two prominent san franciscans, newsom and harris

are hoping to make the leap to holding office. at least one of them has a pretty good chance. randy shandobil reports. >> reporter: according to a new ktvu field poll, gavin newsom's chances of becoming california's next lieutenant governor appear to be brightening. he has a five point lead over republican able maldonado. 42% for newsom, 37 for maldonado. >> i don't care. >> reporter: you don't care? >> no it's irrelevant. >> reporter: newsom told us what matters more is getting his supporters out to vote and he's worried. >> if the pundents are right, and voters do go out, people like me lose. >> reporter: voters frantically removed seats so that the room won't look empty for our cameras. young democrats were hoping for hundreds, but only about 50

people showed up. a similar problem for able maldonado who pulled up to a campaign today who pulled up in a giant bus, huge bus, small crowd, perhaps a handful. >> it's a pretty close race. >> we showed maldonado the numbers. the other big race involving san franciscans for attorney general. harris against the da from los angeles republican steven cooley. it's essentially a tie, cooley ahead by a single point. >> there's a huge gender gap as you might suspect. men are voting for cooley, women are voting for harris. >> reporter: in both races there's still a lot of undecided. bottom line both races are still too close to call.

san francisco police are investigating a brawl at a mcdonald's restaurant near at&t park. it happened wednesday night after game one of the world series. this video is making the rounds around the internet.

dozens of people from the game were at the restaurant. there's no official halloween party, but hundreds are expected to pack the castro, put that together with giants fans and it might be chaos. >> reporter: harvey milk students paraded through san francisco castro district, police this afternoon were gearing up for crowds in the castro in the hundreds. >> based on what happens on saturday, i think you're going to see an escalation, i think a lot of officers will probably be called in. >> reporter: the concern is that a giants world series sweep this weekend coupled with sunday's halloween celebration

on the street this sunday. >> some light showers rolled through the north bay this morning and they made it as far south as san fran san francisco. this is what it looked like in the embarcadero. the weather may be the reason two trees fell early this morning. it happened near 18th and arkansas street on san francisco's potrero hill. the trees just missed parked cars. crews had to block the street until the fallen skis were moved out of the way. time to take out the skis because one bay area resort is now open. boreal made snow on monday and tuesday night to help skiers get a jump start on the season. >> already skiing in the mountains. >> no kidding. we want to check the forecast now, the weekend

forecast, a lot going on. let's go back over to our chief meteorologist bill martin in the newsroom. >> looks like it's heading offshore. let's look at the first frame, you see this area right here, that is some significant rain, almost like a little bit of a squall line where you might even see some real heavy rain. i don't know about thunder and lightning but this has a bit of rain with it. it's moving in this direction, about 45 miles off of san francisco. proper, so the next hour or so 45 minutes, hour this system is going to move on shore, and bring some heavy rain to the areas of the north bay, from about san francisco north. that's where the rain has been all day, that's where it will stay. up to an inch of rain in santa rosa today. for the rest of us, barely any overnight rain in oakland about 1/10 of an inch.

overnight rain in san jose, basically nothing. this frontal system orientated from the north to the east. in the next hour or so, through tonight into early tomorrow morning, then warmer for your bay area weekend. tomorrow morning it's slight chance of a sprinkle. then sunday you're dry. that's halloween, so earlier in the week there's been some folks talking about some rain in san jose. i know you hear it on the other sources. looks like halloween is dry, so that's good news there. the radar, or the computer model shows showers. saturday morning, in the area, but clearing out. here goes saturday afternoon, sun comes out, there we go right into sun. right now everything looks good. the computer model keeps us dry. we're dry into next week as well. there's more rain into next week, at least one of the models is suggesting.

the police. >> similar ceremonies were held in san jose, sunny vale and santa clara. residents of a apartment complex were finally allowed back into their home after a hazardous material incident earlier in the day. hazmat was called after a resident claimed of a burning odor. the building was evacuated and air samples were taken. fire officials tell us the source of the smell was never found and the odor has now dissipated. coming up here tonight, high school football game of the week. it is our north bay high school game of the week, and grudge match it's a private school newman against the public cool rancho cotadi. we'll break it down when we come back.

state budgets cuts are crippling my classroom. they can't believe the sacramento politicians will give our state's wealthiest corporations a new billion dollar tax giveaway. lobbyists have the ear of people who are just thinking about wealth. when you cut the budget, then you cut these students' opportunities. passing prop 24 can change all that. prop 24 repeals the unfair corporate giveaway and puts our priorities first. vote yes on prop 24 because it's time to give our schools a break. tonight's ktvu high school game of the week is a match up between cougars and cardinals. >> newman high is taking on rancho catadi high. and mark ibanez is there live with a preview. >> it's nice and calm.

be the best defensive team we've played this year. whether we keep up that pace or not i don't know. but we should score some and we have a very good defense. when you score a lot of points your offense gets a lot of notoriety. we're going to be playing the best defense we've faced. will we score, i think we will. it's going to score less i think. >> every time there's a rivalry game, emotions are high. does that pump you up as a coach? i mean how do you keep your kids level headed for a game like this. >> all yearlong we talk about tempo of play. we want to start the game being sky high, we want to stay at a high level throughout the game. i have to say this year's team is very, very calm team. we have great team captains, they do a great job with that. you know i said confident and they are pretty calm. it's just about the level of play we're going to play.
