bridge. beyond that all the way out to highway 101. this morning's commute on the approach to marin county are going the other way around. still off to a good start. 6:00 let's go back to the desk. thank you. giant fans are hoping to witness bay area baseball history tonight. san francisco's mayor is inviting everyone to a special outdoor party. ktvu kraig debro joins us from city hall. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we spoke to the mayor last week. we were working on negotiations with major league baseball allowed to put a big screen here. there is copyright issues they were worried about. apparently the negotiations are over. they have permission to put up a big screen. you remember that was the first thing they did. the giants pitching has been pretty clutch all series long. last night though they made some great defensive plays too.

>> line drive. caught by freddy sanchez. what a grab. >> reporter: second baseman freddy sanchez catch prevented one run from scoring and putting it in. sanchez also snagged a ball that hit pitcher madison bumgarner. edgar renteria made one play in the defense side and scored the third run of the game on andres torres double. it's another one of the giants that bounced around from team to team. it's no strange tort world series. renteria knocked in the winning run in game seven of the 1997 series. >> they throw everything i got. & everything follow to me. everything to me. but i have to keep working. keep being focused and do the best i can do.

75 firefighters rushed to the scene. the fire is under control. no one was hurt. the cause of the fire is under investigation. oakland police are offering a reward of up to $45,000 to find the gunman that shot nine people at a halloween party. that happened early yesterday morning at suits nightclub on broad street. a party called the fright fest was being held. six people were at that party when people started shooting inside the building. >> it was mayhem after shots were fired. when the shots were fired everybody scattered and we could not -- there was no -- no one found the shooter. >> a man who was shot in the back seemed to be the target. other victims were hit from stray bullets. none of the injuries seem to be life threatening. san francisco misare investigating the death of a man who was -- san francisco police are investigating the death of a man who was found in

the bay. they pulled the body of a man near pier 41. he was in his 40s or 50s. az transit riders you will have to deal with longer waits and crowded bus buses on the first commute day. ac implemented service reductions yesterday to almost 70 of its lines. some of the big changes deal with reducing the frequency on 28 lines. they are rendering services to the bart stations. az transit expects these cuts will save them more than $11 million. right now 6:05. let's go to sal. how sit look something >> it's doing pretty well so far. weaven't had any major problems. perhaps people are waking up a little bit later today.

right now at the toll plaza there is a small delay. speaking of san francisco northbound 101 traffic looking pretty good. approaching the 80 split. traffic looks pretty good. northbound also looking good down to king street. this morning's drive on the peninsula 101 to 280. also if you're driving on the coast highway 1 is a little crowded but so far still okay. a happy monday. a lot of clouds this past weekend. clouds to the north and then when we cleared out and under mostly clear skies. sfo has clouds around 600 feet. there is not much standing in the way. a lot of sunshine and warmer weather. that alaska front right there. so your school forecast a little cool. clear conditions 40s and patchy fog and sunny by noon.

sunshine. looks pretty good coast bay and inland. slightly cooler thursday. thank you, steve. an overnight shooting in san francisco seriously injured a three-year-old girl and two adults. it happened at 25th and connecticut streets. claudine wong is at the scene with more information. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we are just up the street from where this shooting happened. at least one of the shootings. down the street from me is 25th and connecticut. that is only one of two scenes. the first scene that's where this grandfather and granddaughter was shot. it happened at 10:00. witnesses told ktvu the three- year-old and 54-year-old grandfather just came ck from a halloween event and were standing outside of their apartment. the police told us the 54-year- old was shot once. the three-year-old victim was shot multiple times and she is

suffering life threatening injuries. those two victims are in the hospital. there is one that was found a short distance away. the 20-year-old man was found on dakota street. police say he was also shot multiple times and his injuries are life threatening as well. what we don't know is how these victims are connected. we know they happened within a short distance of each other. that is one of the things police are investigating this morning. there are no new updates in this opinion no suspect information. we will continue to talk to people out here and contact police and keep you updated. live in san francisco claudine wong. there was a mad dash scramble for votes before election day.

reluctant to allow drone attacks or a more raids from special u.s. special operations teams. now investigators are revealing that they've identified the al qaeda bomb maker behind the latest terror attempt. he's believed to live in this house. he's a member allegedly of al qaeda in the peninsula and suspected of developing the under wear bomb that a terror suspect wore an a u.s. flight. president obama's counterterrorism aid is talking about taking on the threat. >> we will destroy that organization as we will destroy the rest of al qaeda. >> reporter: the incident shows gaping holes in the screening of air cargo, the transportation facility is screening all cargo on u.s. bound flights. a weakness al qaeda wants to try to exploit.

reporting live from washington d.c. alison burns. we are hearing the death toll has risen to 52 on a catholic church in iraq. the attackers stormed the baghdad church during a sunday service. it took 120 iraqi christians hostage. iraqi security forces stormed the building. the gunman wanted to trade the hostages for al qaeda prisoners. jan brewer in san francisco this morning to attend a hearing at the ninth circuit court of appeals. brew eres lawyers will try to convince the judges to allow arizona's a judge froze parts of the new law including the provision that requires police to check the immigration status of people they stop if they suspect they may be in the country illegally. bay area opponents plan to protest outside the courthouse. a new poll shows latinos

views have changed over the last three years. in 200750% of latinos surveyed told the hispanic center the growing number of immigrants was a positive force. in a new survey that number dropped to 29%. time now 6:14 republican candidate for governor meg whitman will kick off her last day of campaigning this morning. she spent the weekend campaigning in southern california. the latest field poll is showing whitman trailing jerry brown by 10 points. he will make four campaign appearances today up and down the state. he will start in san diego and move to los angeles then on to salina is and wrap up his campaign at 5:00 in oakland. the u.s. senate race

palo alto to 51. jet stream. river. however. 60s and 70s with mostly sunny skies. partly cloudy tonight. there could be a isolated shower or two. it should be all right. there should be a shower north of fort worth. warmer weather tuesday and wednesday. a little cooler with more clouds. pam and dave. a regional airline as american eagle, united airlines fly more than half of the commercial crafts. two-thirds of business travelers have voiced fears about flying on smaller airlines. 80% say they avoid turboprop planes because of safety concerns. an industry group for the airline says the members adhere to the safety standards. there are no more pontiac dealerships in the world. it ended at stroke of midnight.

they announced it would file for bankruptcy. during the 1970s pontiac products were costars in the dukes of hazards. known for powerful engines and fierce looking grills. two dozen unsold pontiacs remain on the dealership lot. the u.s. supreme court will hear a case that bans the sale of violent video games. it puts ratings on its products. there is no penalty at all for roadway tailers that sale matcher rated games. it calls for a 1,000 fine in those cases. video game makers filed the lawsuit that blocks the law from taking effect. a bay area police chief was caught double dipping. it's not illegal. even he admits it's something he doesn't want to talk about. also the business of legal marijuana may not be so clear

bay area bridges right now looking pretty good. there is a little bit of a backup on the bay bridge. switched the metering lights on. heading up to the tunnel. bridge crews are aware of it. richmond looks good. so does the san mateo. 6:22 let's go back to the desk. a scammer is using cal fire's name so get money out of people. the agency says someone is calling around asking for money to pay for cal fire crew training. its budget pays for all firefighter crew training. tiburon police chief michael is one of many government employees that is double dipping. it's not illegal but it's causing concern. even he admits it something he is sensitive about.

chief cron anyone -- cronni,. but he told the new york times after he time he got bored so he went back to work as tiburon police chief where he earns another $146,000 a year. and another two years he will qualify for a second government pension. time now 6:23 marijuana themed businesses could start to pop up all over the state if californians vote to legalize marijuana tomorrow. but the rules might not be the same from city to city. if prop 19 passes cities and counties will be able to control how much pot can be bought and sold but it would also allow the legislature to pass statewide regulations. the unclear the vague rules has made it tough for people looking to get into the commercial pot industry.

>> in one town you could be purchasing marijuana in a liquor store. in the next town you could be buying it in a pot cafe. another town it could be banned complete by. >> proposition 19 would make it legal for adults to have up to an ounce for recreational use. support for proposition 19 seems to be fading. exclusive ktvu field poll says 49% surveyed are against the proposition. 42% are now in favor and 9% remain undecided. the cal pal lets are -- the cow pal lets are being -- the cow palace is being investigated again. now party goers as young as 16 were allowed in.

one emergency responder said there appeared to be drugs including ecstasy and cocaine. >> we saw a lot of altered levels of consciousness. a lot of vomiting. >> five months ago at another cow palace raid nine people were hospitalized. two of them died. state senator leeland yee says more should be done to prevent this. a disabled man that was hit from a bart train remains in critical conditions. bart officials say 64-year-old curtis fuller and wheelchair fell off the hayward station station. it took rescuers ten minutes to get him out. an investigation continues. well a shocking crime in san francisco. a shooting has injured a three- year-old girl and two other people. we have the latest on their conditions up next. and what is going to happen

we are watching bay area traffic now. watching the traffic getting much busier on highway four. as a matter of fact if you're driving through you will see slow traffic coming in. by the time you miss bay point it will be evened out. we want to go to the bay bridge now was at the bay bridge the metering lights are on a little exslow. there is a stalled suv. trying to get it out of the way. near the island. traffic is going to be much busier. worth predicting a 10-15 minute

you. monday the 1st day of november. i'm dave clark. >> good morning i'm pam cook. the giants could make bay area sports history tonight. they are on the verge of winning their first world series title since the giants moved to san francisco in the 1950s. ktvu kraig debro is joining us live. good morning. >> reporter: dave, i too am excited about this. news from city hall it looks like they have worked out an agreement. that means there will be a big screen tv here at civic center plaza tonight so giants fans can share in the experience of this potentially clinching game been now the giants have had a lot of success. they are one win away. being so close has made them very caseous. it does heighten the senses. >> we're one game away. we can all fill it and taste it

adults. it happened around 10:00 last night. witnesses tell us at ktvu the three-year-old victim and 54- year-old grandfather were shot outside their apartment building after returning home from a halloween party. police say the child suffered multiple gunshot wounds and life threatening injuries. his grandfather injuries are less severe. a 20-year-old man was also wounded in ha shooting. police say his injuries are also life threatening. we do not know if he's related to the other victims but all three at a local hospital. san francisco police say they have no information on a suspect. an oakland police search continues after a 16-year-old boy was shot to death. that happened late saturday night. police say chapman was riding a bike on richy street when someone confronted him and shot him. he died heartily afterwards at

highland hospital. reportedly the victim was at a party before that shooting. the highway patrol believes dense fog may have lead to the death of a man that was hit on highway 101. investigators say an 86-year- old man had pulled over to the center divide yesterday morning. he walked out into northbound traffic and was hit by a woman driving a honda. the highway patrol says she was not driving under the influence and may not have been able to see the man due to the fog. license plate numbers recorded and filmed by new security cameras will soon be cross checked. the four cameras will -- about two weeks ago. cars enter and leave tiburon photos are taken of every license plate. this week the software will be in place which allows the police to check the recorded license plates are connected to any criminal axtivity. right now 6:35 we want to go back over to sal to check in

on the commute. sal. >> we are starting with the toll plaza. i want to show you that the traffic has indeed became a lot slower. the metering lights are on. there was a stalled vehicle on the upper bridge. right before treasure island. they have removed that. traffic will be busy as you drive into san francisco. they have turned the metering lights on extra slow for the crews to get in there. let's move along. take a look at 237. westbound 237 near 85. there was a hit and run accident with no injury. it may cause slowing as you drive past the police cars. also this morning if you're driving into livermore valley we have slow traffic. slowing down. a little color on the mass. westbound 580 dagobas. last. if you're drive into san jose looks good.

6:36 here is steve. thank you. a very good morning. happy monday. last week was tough challenging forecast. had at low sitting out there. it sat there and teased us. finally came through and brought the rain. this week will be much easier. much easier if you work outside you have nothing to worry about. everything looks good until friday. completely different pattern this week. actually see everything lifting there to the north. it will be a week of sunny and warmer weather. forecast still cool. 40s clear and fog. by noon sunny and warm or warmer. this evening 70s. on the coast 60s near 70 degrees. 65 at noon and 71 for a high today. even san francisco 55 been there for a couple of hours on the current temp. 64 at noon and 75 for a high.

arrested on charges that he lured the brees to a lobby of a retirement home and attacked him. 44-year-old will lynch of san francisco surrounded to authorities on saturday. lynch says the priest molested him when he was seven years old and brother who was fives at the time. >> he sexual abused both of them. forced them to actually have sexual acts with each other and physically tortured them as well. that's the history here. >> father lives at the retirement home. he was never criminally charged but there was a settlement of $625,000 with the brothers. is a trial starts today in oakland for a professional poker player accused of killing his parents.

here a quick look at some of the top stories we're following for you. the giants just one victory away from their first world series title since the team moved to san francisco. the giants beat the texas rangers 4-0 last night and the giants lead the series three games to one. oakland police trying to find the shooter that opened fire at a halloween party and wounded nine people. this happened early yesterday morning at suits broadway. and the yemen based al qaeda group accused in the christmas day attempted bombing has been connected to the male bomb

plot. authorities say the same kind of explosives were involved. we're following developing news in san jose firefighters and investigators are still on the scene of a fire. it started this morning at two buildings at north tenth street. jade hernandez is live with an update. >> reporter: firefighter cannot leave just yet. there is smoke coming from the two buildings that caught fire earlier this morning. that fire engulfed the two buildings connected by an alley way. one of the buildings is a metal recycling facility. the other is a bar. san jose firefighters say this fire was called in at 238 and quickly grew to a four alarm fire that pulled in 70 firefighters and multiple strucks and enjoins. firefighters don't believe anyone was inside when flames broke out. we've been told by several sources working this fire it is

suspicious and there have been other fires in the area in the last couple of days. the fires spokesperson has nod confirmed this or the origin. an investigator has been out here and look into that. we are told we should have more information in about an hour and a half. several calls about the fire came in at once. >> the fire was reported to the rear of the building. both buildings are destroyed. san jose metal the last of the second half. 50% totally destroyed. >> this fire is still effecting union pacific cargo trains. the trains have been stopped and i just spoke with the fire department. they told me they still do not know how long they have to keep the tracks closed. as i mentioned we should have more information in about an hour and a half. reporting live jade hernandez. time now 6:45.

that volcano in indonesia erupted again today sending clouds and dust and debris into the air. the most powerful eruption yet. it has been erupting for a week now. 38 people haven't v been killed. 60,000 people that were living on the slopes of the mountains were evacuated. they are now living in these crudded refugee camps. very expensive tsunami warnings did not help. a huge wave washed away their homes and their loved ones last week. experts say the warning systems can be effective for people that live hours away from where a tsunami is starting to take place. they are not able to help those at risk. a ten foot high wave struck the

islands last monday. just minutes after a huge earthquake offshore killed more than 400 people and destroyed hundreds of homes and 20 vile annals. the national hurricane center predicts tropical storm tomas could be the latest. slipped from hurricane status. forecasters say it could regain strength as it crosses warm caribbean waters. they predict tomas will head north. >> 6:47. back here at home. a man has been arrested a bomb scare. police found a suspicious device in the trunk of a car yesterday after pulling over a man that was driving with stolen license plates. evacuations were ordered. the san leandro coliseum. bomb squad says that device contained a timer, a cell

phone, and wires but no explosives. the driver was arrested on drug and stolen property charges. right now 6:47 sal is checking in on the toll plaza. how does it look? >> it's pretty busy. kind of made it slow. because they turned the metering lights on slow when something like that happens. but the traffic is backed up for at least a 15 minute wait. if you're trying to get into san francisco. factor that into your plans. if you're driving on the east bay freeway so far pretty good. this is a live look at interstate 880 near the oakland coliseum. looks pretty good here. we haven't heard of any major problems or slow downs. 580 at livermore is a different problem. once you get into dublin it looks okay. if you're driving to the south bay so far it looks okay with more of the freeways beginning to show some signs of slows. >> happy monday morning

amount in 14 months. let's check in on wall street. pretty nice opening there in response to what happened overnight as i mentioned good manufacturing report in china sent stocks up pretty significantly across asia. european stocks are up. but this week consumer spending and income down kind of surprising the dow jones is up 40 points. but it's at 11,209. and nasdaq posting pretty good gain as well. a wall street journal survey says many are overestimating their kills. 72% said they never questioned their ability to lead others. they also rate themselves as strong on planning, decision making, and communication. the stanford business professor says many managesment misunderstood feedback. there is a warning about parents that lie to get their
