with you. ktvu's paul chambers is live in oakland where he got new information. >> reporter: about 20 minutes ago for the second day in a row, the family came together and members of the community in a peaceful rally. but they left this time, they didn't march to the fruitvale march, but they left behind us a candlelight vigil and a makeshift memorial. they say they just want justice for jones. but for the first time we have learned new information about oakland police about that shiny object they first thought was a weapon that was on jones. >> i don't even believe they found anything, first of all because my believes on that is if they did, what took them so long to bring it out? >> tonya sehiliss is jones' sister. she says while police do not reveal the identity of the officers that shot and killed her brother, they are going to hold peaceful rallies. >> we will do this as many days

future. >> reporter: you are looking at video of an interview ktvu did back with jones in 2007. i'll let you know what he had to say about snitching. you can see this is a sign that they have posted and spray painted on the wall next to quick cuts. it says rest in peace dd. we will have more information about today's rally and that interview we did back in 2007 coming up at 6:00. live in oakland, i'm paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. across the bay san francisco police are looking for who men who were inside an suv that struck and dragged a police officer conducting a traffic stop. police say it happened just before 2:30 this afternoon at buchanan and phelps street. the officer pulled over a tan or gold chevy blazer with two men inside. the driver took off dragging the officer for several feet before he broke lose. another officer shot at the suv but it's unclear if anyone inside was hit by the gunfire.

the vehicle was located near by. but police are still looking for the two men. police say the officers injuries were minor and that he did not need to go to the hospital. the man accused of killing a woman inside her russian hill apartment pleaded not guilty today. gary scott holland appeared in a san francisco courtroom this morning. we have blurred his face at the request of the judge. prosecutors say on october 29th, he posed as a utility worker to gain access in a woman's apartment. he spent 10 years in prison. >> at the end of 1-1/2 years he is just released to the street. i think we've seen this happen before in san francisco. >> holland's charges include murder, attempted rape, robbery and burglary. the next hearing in the case is scheduled for december 8th. the bridge stand off still has many drivers steamed.

afternoon that carlos valentino faces charges of felony threats and brandishing a firearm. he will be arraigned on monday. ktvu channel 2 news. a san francisco man accused of beating his 65-year-old roman catholic priest appeared in courtroom today. the courtroom was filled with lynch's supporters, some of whom claim the priest also molested them. lynch filed a negligence suit against the vatican nine days ago, two days before he surrendered to police. his lawsuit alleges the vatican is liable because lindor was an employee of the church. many of us are planning, even shopping for our thanksgiving feast and plan to sit down at a table laiden with food. but organizers who work year round to help the needy say they are falling short of providing everyone the basics

this year. jim vargas has our report. >> reporter: this might be a prime example of people are going through. we're at the antioch campus of the salvation army, where the organization has been planning to give 150 families bags with the fixings. but they only have six turkeys donated so far. they are short of other food too. jackie smith says she thinks the donors are waiting till the last minute to give because of their own shaky foundation. >> they don't have a promise that when they go to their job there's going to be a job there. you're going to go a lot slower. >> reporter: we are hearing much the same story, more demand, not guilty as much supply for many people not helping the needy. the community food bank which feeds 49,000 people a week has seen the total yearly food give away mushroom from 12 million pounds in 2007 when the recession started to 20 million

pounds this year. >> we distributed more food this year than last year. that follows a 13% increase from the year before. >> there are organizations such as weight watchers that are donating food and money. the el cerrito office packed up the canned food today. people are being asked to donate food or money for food to their local food banks, soup kitchens and pantries. the boy scouts has a nationwide campaign next saturday in which scouts pick up bags of nonparishable foods on doorsteps. alameda expects 1,050 pounds from the scouts but that will go quickly. even though the cost of turkey is going down, the total cost of a thanksgiving dinner will likely go up this year.

the oakland fire department is investigating a two alarm fire. the fire started just before noon in a downstairs apartment on seminary avenue. firefighters arrived a few pháeups after they -- a few minutes after they got the call and saved two people from the second story. the cutter aspen returned after helping with the oil spill in the gulf of mexico. crew members came down the plank into the waiting arms of

passengers are doing. the plane resumed it's flight about an hour later. the uss professor is challenging claims that body imagine x-rays are safe. it says the x-rays can increase the risk of skin cancers, especially in people who fly frequently. air travelers can ask for a security guard to pat them down instead. but the pat downs require close body contact. a petalum a ship recycling companies have received two grants to help for clean up. $3.1million will be paid to salvage two ships. the plan is to tow the ships to the former mayor island shipyard early next month, that will be a big savings over the method of towing the ship

through the panama canal. federal scientists say a coast guard decision to burn oil from the gulf spill did not pose any added cancer risks. the 411 fires the coast guard set between april and mid-july to burn off some of that spilled oil did release a small amount of toxins. but they say it wasn't enough to create a health danger. the fires burned an estimated 13 million-gallons of oil. another cold morning, but boy the views out there are just spectacular, the weekend is just about here. what are we looking at bill? >> cold this morning but great air quality. if you're looking out from ocean beach to francisco, you are seeing to point rays. it was cold this morning, frosty out there. frosty again tomorrow morning. there's the satellite of you from live storm tracker 2. you have the wind advisories through the higher elevations. winds are going to get gusting

lawsuits against over the gas pipe explosion in san bruno in september. so far at least 115 people have filed suit. the judicial council is expected to respond within 60 days, the september ninth blast killed eight people and destroyed 35 homes. pg & e has concluded it does not have to be repaired or replaced as first thought. the 18-foot segment is near dunbarton avenue. in september, pg & e placed the pipeline on a high risk section. >> here's the veto letter. i just think this goes too far. >> the san francisco board of supervisors passed the law this
