i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. it's monday, november 15. in the news right now, police following overnight news in marin county, police are out there searching for the driver involved in a high-speed chase and crash in tiburon. we've learned the man they are looking for may be connected to other crimes. ktvu's jade hernandez is join us live. good morning, jade. >> reporter: good morning. this car thief may be tied to other car thefts. tiburon police have opened up the perimeter and scaled back the search. the only reason they've done that, they've searched every yard in that initial search and those yards have been covered so far this morning. the search began along tiburon boulevard. you see the boulevard behind me at 2:00 a.m. here is a map to show you where they are searching. tiburon in this area has been

covered. police believe the suspect who was driving this stolen acura earlier is part of a bigger auto theft ring. now, the situation earlier this morning began after officers at blackwell and tiburon boulevard heard a crash just down the road at tiburon and bay vista, where an an acura smashed into a signal light. the driver did not stop there. he led police on a high-speed chase on tiburon boulevard. the chase continued down tiburon and both vehicles crashed. now, for four hours, officers searched the area where we showed you before. tiburon's police chief explains why they are not giving up on finding this car. >> we had a similar incident last sunday at 5:00 a.m.

a resident saw vehicles going through mar east street. when he confronted them and said he was going to call the police, they got in the car and they left. a short time later, they were lecated by belvedere and chased them up corte madera and they lost contact of them there. >> reporter: this vehicle is registered in san lee san leandro. no arrests have been made. despite the smaller-scale search, no command post has been set up. but police have told me they haven't given up on finding this thief. jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >> okay, jade. thank you. doctors in san francisco are treating a cable car conductor who suffered life- threatening injuries when he was attacked on the job. it happened around 4:20 yesterday afternoon at may son and jackson streets. a cable car was not in service at the time of this stabbing attack.

no passengers were on board. police say minutes after that attack, police arrested the suspect, 32-year-old george wong, at a home on himalin police. >> witnesses saw. someone called the police. police responded right away and one of the witnesses led them to the street. >> police arrested three other people at that house for resisting and delaying charges. they say there's no indication whether they ew the cable car conductor. sheriff deputies are investigating a tragic accident, a man shot and killed while he was out hunting with his 11-year-old son and his friends. deputies were call to near highway 37 and highway 121 just after:00 yesterday afternoon. when they arind, they -- arrived, they found daniel of napa shot. he was pheasant hunting with

his 11-year-old son and had two of his friends. at this point, we don't have any information about would shot him. detectives say it was an accident. craig carlos valentino faces several felony chargeds, tied to his alleged threats to blow up the bridge while holding his teenage daughter inside his suv. the frightening incident brought traffic on the upper deck for a standstill for two hours. investigators say the 52-year- old man was distraught over financial and marital problems. we are astill following developing news -- we're still following developing news in san francisco. a protest by truck drivers is supposed to start any moment. ktvu's kraig debro is joining us now to explain how all of this could affect your drive to work today. good morning, kraig. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we just heard from the organizers of the protest.

they are staging at mayville and cargo, which is near at&t park. they are gonna be over here in a few minutes. they are protesting the lack of jobs coming from the stimulus package. behind me is the transbay terminal. if you see the sign, you can see this is being funded by the american recovery act. and the truck drivers say they are not getting jobs from that act. and they are very upset about it. right now, they are staging them and menville and cargo. i just spoke to the spokesperson for the bay area truckers association. they have about 15 big rigs. they are gonna be driving over. this is at mission between first and second. since a lot of people get off on freemont street there is the potential of blocking some traffic down here. in addition to the politics of this protest you might be interested in the traffic as

well. from here, they are gonna go over to city hall because they say the truckers say that city hall is not following through with their agreements to offer the prevailing wage to truck drivers. what this all means is truckers feel like they are getting undercut, the people who will work for less and that's how they are being cut out of these jobs. not only is it a trucker protest but also a possible traffic situation in downtown san francisco. we'll find out more about what they are doing and why. back to you. >> thank you, kraig. :07. we want to check in with -- 50707. we want to check in with sal castanedo. and we'll keep an eye on the protest when it starts because it will have an impact in the commute. >> yes, and it will have an impact on muni. well, said, tori. hopefully it won't cause too much of a problem but i think

it does look warm and cold. by the time we get to fridays, we will be looking at highs in the 50s. possible record highs today but a cold rain will arrive by this weekend. we'll see 40s and maybe some snow in the hills. yesterday, concord cass 81. that was a record. kentfield, 81. the old mark was 80 in 1923. sacramento, 81. mountain view is 80. most of the records go back to 2008, mountain view and sacramento. today, almost all of the records go back to 2008. there will be a couple of record highs today. you can see why. high pressure aloft on the surface. that northeast wind. that just scours everything out of here. sunny, breezy, 7 -- 70s, 70s. the old record is 80. oakland, 83. the oakland mark was 85. 2005 for them on that 83. mountain view, 80. you will be close.

81. san jose, 79. 83 is the record, 2008. but look at average temperatures. we're a good 15, 20 degrees where we should be. 60s and 70s. san francisco is 70 degrees. 58 palo alto, that's one of the cooler locations. 27 up in tahoe. 47 cool degrees in ukiah. same for fresno and santa maria, santa barbara. but that's a big dome of high pressure. it's here today and tomorrow and then it's packing its bags and getting replaced by an extremely cold system coming out of the gulf of alaska and that's going to drop our temperatures and bring in a cold rain. it doesn't look like a heavy rain but it will be big news for the temperatures. today the big news is they are warm. 70s and 80s. breezy conditions today. cooler and then increasing temperatures on thursday and then the cold rain arrives over the weekend. a british couple is enjoying freedom after being

held captive by somali pirates for more than a year. this couple there, you see them there, they met with officials yesterday. they were sailing on a yacht off the coast of africa, when they were captured by the pirates. a $00,000 ransom -- $400,000 ransom was paid to the pirates in june and then more money was demanded. >> it's nice to be a -- alive. >> now, the chandlers had had been flown to kenya and according to regional observers there, somali pirates are still holding more than 500 hostages. 7:11. alameda county is considering new campaign limits. and we'll take you live to washington, d.c. as the lame- duck session of congress

this. >> raising taxes on anyone is destructive. our number one goal would be -- should be to get everybody bag to work. >> reporter: if the outgoing congress does not decide on this, i'm told the new congress will. i'm told the u.s. and house are touring the capitol. they are looking in the basement at space and will have lunch later this afternoon. back to you. >> thank you, scott. 7:17. well, today a senate subcommittee will hear about the growing number of threats made against judges handling social security disability cases. the social security administration says over the past year, at least, 80 judges or courtroom staffers have been threatened with either bodily harm or either death. that's an 18% increase over the year before. those threats are made by those people angry over denials but

others are frustrated at long delays and getting their claims processed. nearly 2 million people are waiting to decisions on their disability claims with many having to wait more than two years to see if they qualify. after a three-week delay, a military hearing will continue for major nidal hasan, who is accused of killing 13 people and the hearing will determine if he will stand trial. today thary something expected to wrap up -- today the hearing is expected to wrap up. his lawyer says he needs information from the government that he has been asking for for a year. without it, he says, he can't provide an effective defense. 7:18. the alameda county board of supervisors is considering setting campaign spending limits for county races. that's after record campaign spending in the supervisors' race in the november 2nd election. the winning candidate in the district 2 race, nadia lockyer,

recorded $1.5 million in contributions with 1.2 of that coming from the campaign hundred of her husband, state treasurer, bill lockyer. in comparison her opponent raised $90,000 for her campaign. the biggest spender in the recent election in terms of california's propositions is an unlikely source. he's this man. you are looking at him right now. charles t. munger, junior, the son of warren buffett's billionaire investment partner. munger put $12.6 million of his inherited wealth into proposition 20 for restricting reform. munger says he's pleased the proposition passed with 61% of the vote. he feels he gave voters back their democracy. 7:19. tear are call force a federal investigation now into reusable grocery bags after tests found many of them were contaminated

with lead. "the tampa tribune" purchased bags from a dozen different grocery stores to have them analyzed. many of the reusable made in ch today, facebook is going to launch a new e-mail system, according to several new on- line reports, those reports say facebook could easily compete with g-mail and ya -- yahoo! mail. facebook users could use this and -- would be easier to direct and redirect specifickedked -- specific ads for its use yers -- users. a warning where prices are

expected to go up. and muni has found something that people like. so the agency is bringing a popular program back. speaking of muni. if this truckers's protest that's developing right now in san francisco has any effect, it will likely slow down the 14 mission and other buses near the transbay terminal. these truckers are now heading up to the terminal to stage a labor protest. we'll keep you updated as to what happens.

strong winds knocked down power lines and that triggered this fire yesterday near santa rosa on todd road. luckily, no buildings were damaged. we haven't heard of any injuries. the power outage affected more than 12,000 customers. there is a warning for renters in san francisco. prices may be going up.

research firm royal facts says levels are going up they haven't seen since 2008. the average went is about $2,080. experts say rental rates are going up because of the foreclosure prices and the unpredictable job market. 7:23. the muni ambassador program is back up and running in san francisco. muni tried out the ambassador concept on a two-month pilot program in august and september. it was so successful, the city pieced enough money together to fund it in until june. under the program, 12 ambassadors ride the muni train on the third street t-line and the nine san bruno line during the -- during the early-morning and evening hours. sal is watching all of our

we're following developing news. right now a truck driver protest is getting underway in san francisco. it could affect the morning commute in the busy part of the city. kraig debro is live in san francisco to let us know what's

going on. good morning, kraig. >> reporter: good morning. we don't have an exact route for them right now. my guess is since the protest is about the transbay terminal, that they will go around the block. they are out here protesting what they are calling unfair treatment and unfair distribution of the federal stimulus act. we showed you these pictures from newschopper2 just a few moments ago. the truckers are staged at mandel and cargo. this is south of at&t ballpark and from there they caravan to the transbay terminal. now, the truckers say the jobs that are being -- the contractors are giving the jobs to people who are gonna work for less money. therefore, they are being shut out of the jobs here and to --

and to, i guess, you could say register their discontent, they are having this caravan of trucks. it's not just the federal stimulus money they are angry about not giving. truckers are also upset that the city of san francisco, they say, is not meeting their obligation to pay a prevailing wage on other trucking jobs. so so far you have 15 truckers out here that i can tell right now and they have turned right or southbound on west street -- excuse me. on first street. they've turned west on first street. their goal is to come in front of the transbay terminal and draw alength to what they say is unfair treatment in terms of the federal stimulus dollars. if you are looking at a live -- you are looking at a live picture here. there is a lot of traffic here. this mightn't fear with people getting into san francisco. you can see five or six trucks turning -- turning west on first.

some of them have signs on the cab. i can't really read what that one says. something about arrived in america. those are the last three words. hopefully, i'll get a chance to talk to the spokesperson for this group of truckers and ask further detail about their protests, why today and why city hall is also involved. reporting live in san francisco. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you for the update, kraig. 7:32. richmond police are investigating an overnight homicide, police say the victim's body was found near a homeless camp on regatta boulevard about 1:30 this morning. police say this started as a domestic dispute between two people. police say the suspect chased down and killed a third person who tried to break up the fight. the suspect is now in police custody this morning. san jose police are waiting for autopsy results on the body of a woman found floating in the guadalupe pay river. now, police got a call about 6:00 saturday night about a

body found in the without -- near the water near jullien and highway 87. they say the unidentified woman is a transient and pie -- and appears to be in her 40s. the medical examiner's office is helping investigators figure out if -- if this is foul play. someone found a severed arm near the polo field yesterday afternoon in the park. that person flagged down an officer about the discovery. but there are few details. the coroner says the body of a male was also brought in from the park. but it's not clear if the two are connected. 7:34. a manhunt continues for a man wanted in connection with a double murder in fairfield. 50-year-old ricardo day leon is accused of killing his ex- girlfriend and her new boyfriend. now, according to police, deleon may be driving a 1999, white dodge van with a blue strip on the -- stripe on the side. the shooting happened early

saturday morning on crowley line outside the apartment complex of day leon's ex- girlfriend, marina torronos. police say the incident started hours earlier in the parking lot, when the two were arguing. police were called but day leon left before police arrived. investigators believe he came back at about 1:00 in the morning and waited for the victims to come home. >> was laying on the couch in the living room and heard all of this. police are searching for three armed men responsible for a frighting restaurant robbery at the chuck e. cheese. police say the three men burst

into the restaurant and immediately ordered 40 employees and customers to move into a storage room. some of those customers were children. the gunman cleaned out the cash register -- the gem cleared out the cash registers and left. thousands of jelly fish washed ashore on ocean beach over the weekend. most of them have been washed away. but as ktvu's tara moriarty tells us, there's still a lot of questions about what happened out there. >> reporter: they mysteriously washed ashore friday night. they are called moon jellyfish. they are about the size of a small dinner plate or a frisbee. most of them have been swept away by the tide. if you were lucky enough and strolled by, you could see that this stretched for nearly three

miles. 10,000 jellyfish between the boulevard and lincoln way. scientists say it's pretty rare for them to show up on shore. hundreds of beachgoers got a lesson as they roamed around the creatures. everybody had a theory about why they drifted ashore. >> if these things -- there's something in the water. the warm weather? >> reporter: now, ocean beach did experience a heavy-duty swell before the jellyfish invasion and that's what scientists believe is partly responsible for the mysterious appearance. last time, thousands of these jellyfish came ashore was six years ago. these jelly fish are so mild that the toxins rarely

penetrate your skin. but you are still advised not to go barefoot like i am doing right now and stepped on one. when they are dead, they can still sting you. you really do need to be careful. the tide has taken most of them away. there's just a couple of them here. marine biologists are expected to come here this morning to investigate this phenomenon. hopefully, we'll learn more and get those questions answered later this morning. >> tara, how did it feel when you stepped on it? >> reporter: i think i yelled out a big yelp. my photographer was laughing [ laughter ] >> be careful out there. you can see a slide show of the jellyfish at ktvu.com. click on the "bay area news" tab on the front page. giants' fans may have more to celebrate than just the world series championship. this morning they will learn if

but in san francisco we've been talking about this truckers' protest. these truckers driving around the block at the transbay terminal. this is a very busy area. and we'll see if that starts to cause traffic issues. right now, it's a minor inconvenience. these truckers are going to make a point. kraig debro will have more on that coming up. let's take a look at westbound bay bridge. it's backed under for about a 15-minute delay. no problems in san francisco getting on the bridge. but just be waiting here as usual for the metering lights to let you on to the bridge. let's move along and take a look at 280. that traffic is not doing well at all getting up to highway 17. northbound 17 traffic is moving along okay as you drive down to campbell, it gets slow. i don't see any major problems in the south bay. i see a minor accident at blossom hill road. that one came in a few minutes

ago. let's go to steve. we have clear skies and already some very mild-to-warm conditions. temperatures will be recall warming out fast because of that northeast wind and temperatures will continue to be very mild with 70s already starting in san francisco. so it looks warm, then cold. what do you mean by that? well, we'll start the week off warm and then it's going to get much colder by the time we get to the weekend. possible record highs again today, we had four of them yesterday that i know about. concord, kentfield in there. mountain view, sacramento, all 81, 81. cold air and a cold rain arrives by the weekend. we'll go from 20 above on some of these highs to about 15 below. there could be some rain by the time we get to the weekend. 84 in santa rosa yesterday. went 80 today. it looks like they are losing the north-northeast wind.

it could still pop up. 82 in san francisco. that could be a -- that would be a record. 83 in oakland. stila northeast wind coming off the caldecott. oakland, berkeley hills. san jose, 79. san jose really doesn't get as warm as the other locations in it pattern. concord is 51. alto, 58. san jose, 64. 67 san rafael and napa. 27/35 up in tahoe and reno. 37 in ukiah, even down to fresno and bikersfield. there are some in wind- protected areas. it's large and in charge. the high at the surface will start to move so the wind will

be replaced by a cold system. 70s and 80s on the temperatures. we'll still have a sunny day but not as warm. wednesday the fog will be back. friday cloud it up and it gets much colder. air travelers, really not big fans of those luggage fees. now we know how much airlines are raking in with these additional costs. and where former president bill clinton just finished suiting a few scenes for the sequel 2 "the hangover."

stocks are starting the week higher amid some strong retail sales for october and also a big acquisition by caterpillar helping the markets this morning. the dow is up 49 at 11,242. nasdaq at 5. s&p up nearly 4. australian airline qantas is dealing with the fallout of another mid-air incident. today, a qantas plane bound for argentina rushed to sydney because of smoke in the cockpit. there were 141 people on board. no one was injured. qantas officials say it was an electrical problem. this is the fourth incident since an engine exploded near singapore. a san diego man made headlines over the weekend. he refused to go through the security at the airport. he refused to go through the body-scanner machines or get a pat-down at the security

checkpoint. he says he feels like too much privacy is given away just to get on a plane. >> i said, "if you touch my junk, i'll have you arrested." >> after that, a tsa spokesperson said he would have to leave the area, then. and the man said, "i'll see new court." >> janet napolitano said the body images are not a health risk and the images are kept privacy. she says everyone wants to fly safely and the procedures being use resident a good balance between security and privacy. travelers may hate airline budget fees but they are real budget safers forethe airlines. the federal government reports

the biggest airlines racked up $1.6 billion in baggage fees -- $1.6 million in baggage fees. del tall saved the most. there is a new report that raises if you concerns about the safety of california's gas pipelines. "the chronic kell" examined puc records and other documents between 2003 and 2009. they reportedly show the state had only had nine inspectors to

check the gas lines. the state acknowledges it has been short stopped in the future. but they say they've handled all of the recent disaster since san bruno. mechanical problems with a toyota camera may be to blame for an accident that killed two people in utah, after the driver apparently tried to stop and could not and slammed into a wall. the highway patrol officers suspect the crash is related to one of toyota's recent safety recalls. toyota has recalled millions of cars because of floor mats that can snag gas pedals and accelerators can become stuck. 7:49. a deadly co cholera outbreak in haiti is spreading. 1,000 people are hospital ice -- 14,000 people are

hospitalized. former president bush is holding a reunion of his administration in dallas. but there will be one noticeable no-show. former vice president dick cheney will not be there. cheney's office didn't release any official reason for that. but it's been reported widely that the two got into a really heated argument during the final days of the bush administration. it's believed cheney was angry that former president bush did not pardon cheney's former chief of staff, "scooter" libby. ready for this? former president bill clinton is reportedly joining the cast of the sequel of the movie "the hangover." "people" magazine reports mr. clinton will play himself to the followup to that popular comedy which is being filmed

right now this thailand. it's reported that he filmed his part over the weekend while in that country to talk about clean energy. the sequel is due to hit the theaters next spring. ten minutes before 8:00. the crime that shocked the nation moves back to court today. the seven suspects in the richmond gang rape case are going before a judge. two men had to be rescued from some dangerous cliffs. but the national park service says it may not be the hikers' fault they were there.

the seven suspects in the richmond gang rape are due in court this morning for a preliminary hearing. that hearing will determine whether there is enough evidence to put them on trial for last year's gang rip -- gang rape of a 16-year-old girl. it's a case that made

nationwide headlines. investigators say several onlookers did nothing as they watched the man attack the girl outside of her homecoming dance. richmond high has increased campus security ever since that happened. >> you can feel the difference in the campus. you don't see people loiter org using profanity. this parking lot is full. but they are engaged in destructive activity. now, the seven defendants face several felony charge, including forcible rape and robbery. that preliminary hearing is expected to last several days. it is 7:54. the national park service rescued two mikers and their dog after they wandered into airport a yaw that's closed to the public this past weekend. the two men became stranded on a cliff near san francisco's lands inn. they used harnesses and dogs to rescue the men. no one was hurt but the april

degrees. we should be around of 2 -- 62 to 66. we're in the umer 70s to lowed a mid-80s. you know it kanteles. the high will kick out and the surface high will move off. by the end of the week, a very cold system says you want me -- you think it will be sunny and be warm weather? it will an cold rain. temperatures will start to slide down tuesday. wednesday cooler, thursday cooler and then on friday, a cold rain arrives. >> reporter: a truckive -- a truck driver protest is happening right now in san francisco. we're watching how it's effecting the morning commute in a busy part of the city. a 4-year-old napa man accidentally shot and killed

while hunting. it's who was with him who makes this story even more tragic.

>> reporter: take a look at the transbay terminal. this is why there was the protest this morning. this, according to the truckers, is funded in part by a $7 billion grant if you will from the american recovery act or stimulus funds. the truckers say they are basically being cut out of the job because the contractor on the job who bought another company is giving the truck drivers the jobs that will take less than $65 an hour. now, when i talked to one of the chief architects this morning, i asked him why that was not enough money for this particular job. >> $65 an hour. that sounds like a lot of

money. >> you see that truck right there? >> yes. >> you think that's a lot of money. fuel is damn near $a gallon -- $4 a gallon. you burn about 20 gallons a day. >> reporter: now, it's a little complicated but the truckers are now headed to san francisco city hall, what they want to do is ring city hall with trucks. they believe the city of san francisco should be getting involved in this dispute. because the city of san francisco, they say, has an agreement with truckers and other unions and whenever a new contractor comes in they have to pay the prevailing wage and because this new group is getting a lesser wage, they want them to intervene and wage the prevailing wage for what it should be and that way they can compete for jobs and not only

keep for jobs and -- compete for jobs but keep their wage and living. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. let's go to sal for information on traffic. one of the things we want to let people know, craig, is the route of the protest in san francisco -- now, they are down at the transbay terminal which is at first and mission street. the truckers will be taking a route down mission street and making a right turn on 9th and crossing market street to get to city hall. of course, this could be somewhat of a traffic issue. the 1 mission does -- 14 does run up and down mission street as well as the mission express and some other buses run up and down mission street. so if the truckers make a long enough line, some of the lanes could be delayed. we didn't see that many trucks. it could be a minor inconvenience. but we'll be watching that. i will have another traffic report coming up in a few

minutes. and let you know -- i'll let you know. >> okay. right now, police are still searching for the driver involved in a high-speed chase and crash in tiburon. we've learned the man they are looking for may be tied to other crimes. ktvu's jade hernandez joins us live from tiburon with new details. >> reporter: good morning, jade -- good morning, tori. we just checked in with police and they believe they are -- they believe this man is tied to other crimes. this area is the area where the officers set up the perimeter, near where the driver crashed hissable cue raw this morning. this is the acura here. the tiburon police chief told us initially the officers heard the crash while they were parked near tiburon and blackfield. the accident found the accident down the road near bay vista.

an acura had trashed into a traffic light. the officers were not hurt. but the car thief was not finished. he got out of the stolen car and ran. >> the driver reversed his course there, came back tout tiburon boulevard and here on tiburon boulevard between bay vista lost control of the car and crashed. and the suspect fled into a yard and over a fence. >> reporter: tiburon police have seen this before. last monday, a tiburon resident noticed a man acting suspicious. he cop fronted him and he got -- confronted him. the police tried to stop him. ten minutes later, another car was stolen. police are looking into whether that attack and possibly this morning could be linked to a

recent carjacking in the area. so far no arrests have been made but i've been told tiburon and belvedere police are still looking for the car involved in the overnight accident. back to you. >> thank you. a cable car conductor who was stabbed on the job is in the hospital this morning with life-threatening injuries. the attack hooped around 4:20 -- happened around 4:20 yesterday afternoon on mason street in san francisco's china town. the cable car was not in service at the time. no passengers were on board. police say the officers arrested the suspect, george wong, at a home on himalon place. >> someone called the police and police responded right away and one of the witnesses responded to the street. >> police say there's no indication the suspect knew the conductor and there's no known

motive. this morning, sonoma county sheriff detectives are investigating a tragic accident, a man shot and killed while he was out hunting with his 1 1-year-old son and his friends. deputies were called out at about:00 yesterday afternoon -- about 4 yesterday an. according to the sheriff's department, downs had been pheasant hundreding -- hunting with his son and his friends. detective says this was an accident, the shooting. in just one hour, the man arrested in last week's bay bridge standoff is due to be arraigned in a san francisco courtroom. craig carlos valentino is facing several felony charges tied to his alleged threats to blow up the bay bridge while holding his teenaged daughter inside of his suv.

that frightening incident brought traffic on the upper deck of the -- of the bay bridge to a standstill for two hours. investigators say the 51-year- old antioch man was upset about financial as well as marital problems. seven minutes after 8:00. speaking of traffic, we want to check in with sal to see what's happening on the roads this monday morning. >> fortunately, there is not a lot going on. we have a lot going on in the south bay. let me show you a map here. i want to show you that the traffic -- that traffic is going to be busy in the city. we have two crashes on westbound 237. i have a feeling when police get there, they are gonna find only one crash and i have a feeling. it's 237 at the lawrence expressway. we'll see. traffic is very slow getting into the sunnyvale area. if you driving opt peninsula, 101 heading south from burlingame to highway 92 is also pretty slow. i would say 280 is your best --

best bet. and in corte madera -- at the exit there is a minor crash that's been moved to the shoulder. at the bay bridge toll plaza, it's going to be slow. we'll get to that in just a second. highway 4 westbound has been cleared out nicely. i talked about the toll plaza. here it is. it's about a 12 to 15-minute delay heading west. here's steve. we do have clear skies and temperatures, very mild for some already and warm. in fact, 70-degree temperatures currently for me. 65, though, in oakland. but there are a few that are sitting at 70 degrees. we still have that easterly breeze. although it's starting to turn more east-southeast. i think we'll lose the north- northeast. still about 15, 25, some of the higher elevations. concord, 81. broke the mark of 80. kentfield, 81.

people angry over denial as but others are frustrated that long delays, nearly 2 million people are waiting for decisions on their claims. some wait more than two years to see if they qualify. after a three-week delay, a military hearing has resumed at fort hood for the army psychologist charged with a deadly massacre. major nidal hasan is accused of killing 13 people and the hearing will determine if he will stand trial. but today, the hearing is expected to wrap up without any evidence from the defense. hasan's lawyer says he needs information from the government that he's been requesting for a year. without it, he says he cannot an effective defense. 8:18. we just checked. the secretary of state's website and in the back-and- forth state attorney general's race, san francisco's district attorney cau ma law harris has pulled ahead. she has 45.9% of the vote, compared to los angeles district attorney, steve

cooley, with 45.7%. now, tens of thousands of ballots still have to be counted. the counties are required to have a final vote count by december 3rd. 8:18. the alameda county board of supervisors is considering setting campaign spending limits for county races. that's after record spending and a -- in a supervisors' race. nadia lockyer reported nearly $1.5 million in contributions with 1.2 million coming from the campaign fund of her husband, state treasurer, bill lockyer. in comparison, her opponent raised $90,000 for her campaign. the biggest spender in the recent election, at least for california propositions, some of you might not recognize. charles t. munger, junior. a san francisco university physicist and the ton of warren buffett's billionaire investment partner. munger put 12.6 million of his

a truck driver protest is underway. it started at the transbay terminal more than an hour ago. it's now moving towards city hall. kraig debro is live in san francisco with the very latest. good morning, kraig. >> good morning, dave. the truckers are now ci if i look behind me. there is a truck over there on mcallister. it will turn the corner and come right in front of city hall. this begun this morning. truckers gathered there and caravaned to the transbay terminal. the reason they are at the transbay terminal has everything to do with the $7 billion transbay terminal rebuilding project going on over there. the trucker saying the general contractor 0en that project is a japanese company. they say that company is len eye -- is only paying $65 an hour. i said what's wrong with $65 an hour?

the truckers say by the time you get finished paying for gas, the wear and tear on your truck everything it's not very much at all. they say they want the company to pay more because it becomes from stimulus money. the american recovery and reinvestment act. they believe they should be getting more money for that contract. they say if this protest works out well, they will had have another one at city hall next week. >> we got about 80 but most of them didn't want to come. they are afraid of the police towing their vehicle. some of the guys came and -- but when we come next week we're gonna try to have at least 50 trucks. the reason that truckers have come over to city hall despite the fact that this american reinvestment and -- the stimulation funds, the reason they were come -- they are coming here is because they say the city of san francisco has an agreement with unions to

pay a prevailing wage. they say the stimulation project over at the transbay terminal is not paying that pro vailing beige. so they are looking at the city getting involved and trying to do something about that. again, the union is promising to be out here next week if they are successful. they eventually say they will go on strike if they don't get what they want. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. 8:33. police in richmond are investigating an overnight homicide. police say the victim's body was found near a homeless damp on regotta boulevard about 1:30 this morning. police say they believe this began as a domestic dispute between two people. police say the suspect chased down and killed a third person who tried to break up the fight. that suspect is now in custody this morning. san jose police are waiting for autopsy results on the body of a woman found floating in the guadalupe river. now, police got a call about

6:00 saturday night, about a body in the water near jillian street and highway 87. they say the unidentified woman is a transient. she appears to have been in heir 40s. the medical examiner's office is helping investigators figure out if there was foul play. 8:33. san francisco police are investigating a disturbing discovery in golden gate park. someone found a severed arm near the polo field yesterday afternoon. that person flagged down an officer about the discovery but there are few details. the coroner says the body of a male was also brought in from the work. but it's not clear if the two discoveries are connected. a manhunt is underway for a man wanted in connection to a double murder in fairfield. 50-year-old day leon is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her new girlfriend. according to police, he may be driving a 1999 white dodge plan with a blue stripe on the side.

the shooting happened early saturday morning on crowley rain. police say the incident started hours earlier in the parking lot where the two were arguing. police were called but he left before they arrived. investigators believe he came back about 1:00 in the morning and waited for the victims to come home. >> i was laying on the couch in the living room and i heard beige! and the screaming, the lady screaming. and i saw the dangerous gunfire and he said get away from the window! and i heard two more. >> police believe he may be headed to mexico or new mexico. officers say terrones had a restraining order against day leon but it had not been served. police are searching for three armed men who robbed a

chuck e. restaurant. police say the men burst into the restaurant and sorded the -- ordered employees and customers to get in the storage room. some of those customers were children. police only have a vague description of the suspect. they cleaned out the cash register. thousands of jelly fish washed ashore -- jellyfish have washed ashore at ocean beach. as tara moriarty explains, there's still a lot of questions unanswered and you have advice, too. >> reporter: well, if you are heading to ocean beach, bring your shoes. this is why. they are called moon jellyfish. they are still littering the shoreline. they don't sting you. but -- they do thing you but it's a mild sting. so you definitely don't want to

go barefoot. more than 10,000 jellyfish were stuck concentrated in a 20-foot section. surfers and swimmers frequently spot them out in the waves. it's pretty ware to have them wash ashore. it looks like jewels when the sun hitting the jellyfish. they look sparkly. to me they -- it looks like a mystery. why are they here or what happened to them? >> well, ocean beach did experience a heavy-duty swell before the jellyfish invasion. that's what scientists believe is partly responsible for this national phenomenon. the last time thousands of jellyfish drifted on beach, it was six years ago them were a

jobs. 8:48. a new report is raising new concerns about the safety of california's gas pipeline. the chronicle refused the p.u.c. records and other public documents from 2003 to 2009. they showed the state only had nine inspectors to check california's roughly 110,000 miles of gas pipeline. the state acknowledged it has been shortstaffed in the past but it's since added inspectors following the recent disaster in san bruno. mechanical problems with a toyota camry may be to blame for a crash that killed two people in utah. the car slammed into a retaining wall on november 5th after the driver apparently tried to fix but couldn't. highway patrol officers think this is related to a safety recall.

we just found out the man accused of killing washington, d.c. intern chandra levy will not take the stand in his own

defense. he's on trial for the 2001 murder and attempted sexual assault of levy from modesto. her disappearance made international news after she was romantically linked with then congressman gary condit. the seven suspects in the richmond gang rape case, they are due in court this morning for a preliminary hearing. that hearing will determine if there is enough evidence to put them on trial. reports say they did nothing. richmond has increased security since then. >> you just feel the difference in the community. you don't see people loitering or using profanity. this parking lot is full. but they are engaged in constructive activity. the seven defendants face several felony charges

including forcible rape and robbery. the preliminary hearing is expected to last several days. five san francisco school district administrators are under criminal investigation. they are accused of funneling district money into their personal bank account. according to documents on tabeed, they took a few thousand to 40,000 from community organizations they hired to do work for city schools. an attorney says his client approved the payments from the community organizations to her staff as bonuses. 8:55. there's new research out showing women in the work force have caught up with men in at least one way but it's not something you would really want. a federal ily-funded study shows women in high-stress jobs face twices the risk of having a heart attack or stroke as women in less demanding jobs. and women who worry about

losing their jobs no matter how stressful had higher blood pressure, cholesterol levels and body weight. the study for men showed similar results. and google's pay hikes making news. a few top executives at the mountain view deposit will reportedly get 30% pay hikes next year. some executives will be eligible for bonuses up to 250% of their base pay. last week google told all 23,000 employees they are getting 10% pay hikes in january. this morning, the commerce department released better than expected news. october retail sales jumped 1.2% last month. that's the biggest jump in seven months and much better than economists forecast. much of the gain could be credited to auto sales. retail sales were up 4/10th which is exactly what market
