planned today, right, jade? >> that is right. organizers told us they didn't want to divulge where or when they would hold the biggest protest today but that has not stopped campus police from keeping the barricades up this morning. media was not allowed in to a meeting with protesters last night with berkeley and neither were authorities and their decision to protest spontaneously maybe because of what happened here at the community center. three uc officers faced a crowd of four dozen trying to enter a hall by a garage. they scuffled with the crowd as he tried to clear it. he then drew his gun. san francisco police chief called those gathered an angry and unruly and aggressive crowd. >> where an officer was rushed and surrounded by a group of

demonstrators. the crowd disarmed the officer of his be toll on the. the officer was injured and he drew his weapon to protect himself. >> reporter: 15 people were pepper sprayed. 13 people were arrested. 11 students and four uc police officers suffered injuries. >> an officer was rushed. the barricade was used against the officer. another officer was attempted to pull over the barricade by the crowd and pepper spray was used as a defense to that activity. they discussed demonstrations planned today. media was not allowed, neither were authorities and protests are expected to take place at the campuses within the uc system today. we just don't know the

specifics. the regents vote will be around 10:00 this morning. the meeting will resume in an hour and a half. as i mentioned, police are out here this morning and they have bare dades in front of the building where the meeting is supposed to take place. it has been a year and a half since general motors filed for bankruptcy and basically became the property of the u.s. government. now the u.s. automaker is making its comeback on wall street. allison burns reports taxpayers are getting some of their money back, right, allison? >> reporter: good morning. that's right. the u.s. government bailout of general motors totaled $50 billion. now it looks like taxpayers are on track to get about half of that back. nowing we showed you the new ceo of general motors ringing the opening bell at the new york stock exchange, as the

company marked its return to wall street just about 30 minutes ago. in an interview this morning the cio said he expects to boost profits and hiring and to continue to pay back the government as it becomes a publicly traded company. unions stand to make a bundle today but 401-k holders, pension funds and anyone who owned gm stock before the bailout are losing out. gm stock offering is potentially worth $23 billion and could be the largest ipo in history. gm set the initial price of $33 a share. it is already up to $35. now the feds today are unloading 400 million shares. and after today the government will no longer be the majority shareholder in the company, but still have about a third stake in general motors. reporting live from washington, d.c., allison burns, ktvu, channel 2 news. >> thank you, allison.

looking live at the big board right now, you can see the dow is up significantly right now. it has gone to -- up 148 at the moment, due partly to general motors' ipo but also a bit of confidence that ireland will work out details for a bailout. the dow up 147 and the nasdaq up 35 and the s&p is up 15. he's known for stealing bases, but one little known member of the giants is accused of stealing from his former boss. investigators in new jersey say darin ford stole $2,000 from a car dealership where he once worked. ford originally claimed that a gunman stole the money from him. police say they found evidence that no such robbery ever happened. darin ford briefly played for the giants this year after getting called up from the minors in september. we're now hearing that the

former attorney for unicef is resigning from the practice of law after implicated in a plot to kill witnesses in the bailey murder case. according to court papers, brown smuggled a hit list out of jail in march that named witnesses that her client wanted to have killed to prevent their testimony in his upcoming trial. following her implication in the plot, brown resigned as bay's attorney and they tell the bailey project that brown is giving up the law practice. she's not been charged with any crime. more chilling testimony is expected in the richmond gang rape case. a judge is deciding whether there is enough evidence to put the seven defendants on trial for the horrifying gang rape of a 16-year-old girl. yesterday the testimony of one arresting officer stunned the martinez courtroom. officer lewis says one suspect claimed the teenager girl was drunk and had consensual sex

with the men. however, prosecutors say they have evidence she was the innocent victim of a savage attack. >> dare to say that contribute critical was putting it minor. she had injuries that were life- threatening, and that's going to be introduced through these records. >> reporter: so far only five of the scheduled 20 witnesses have testified in a hearing that was expected to wrap up before thanksgiving. i want could now last until christmas. 7:07. b.a.r.t. will be voting on fare prices for the west dublin pleasantton station. construction is expected to be funnished next -- finished next year. a round trip ticket for san francisco would be 10.80 there's and getting to and from the airport would cost $20.80. all right. it may be a little difficult

getting around valet hoe. there is a crash in valet hoe near the 780 interchange. put it on the map and show you traffic will be busy getting up. there westbound traffic is typically the commute direction here. it is at 780 east. i don't see a lot of red but a little yellow. not a lot of slow traffic yet. i see some slow traffic on highway 12 but not on 80 so far. move the maps to the peninsula. southbound 280 an accident at 380. and there is one also the exit beforehand. my suspicious it is the same accident. if you are going to the airport use 101 for now. it's better than 280 at this point. look at the bay bridge toll plaza. westbound a 15-minute delay but nothing unusual going on. in is a typical commute. looking at 280. it is thick through downtown for the trip to the west

valley. no major problems on 101, 280 or 85 trying to get in the valley. here's steve. >> thank you. we have a partly cloudy skies, cold out there but the really cold air will arrive saturday, saturday night in to sunday. right now the leading edge of the first system getting rain to the knot coast, and it is possible this could slide far enough south in to mend seen know county. this weaker part of the system begins to move over the bay area and then it is reinforced with the colder air. after that, saturday and sunday look for us, this time of the year really cold. the system continues to slowly march south. some low clouds in advance. you can see them in the gray there and higher clouds from the southwest. keep an eye on that. that could enhance the rainfall. we don't expect that to happen but something to keep an eye on. the bigger story is the cold

says there has been no activity in his bank account or credit cards more than a week and his family is growing more concerned as each day goes by. this is the day where brian was last seen. the 33-year-old father of two was leaving the restaurant his father owns in pleasant hill. he had just finished hi work shift. it was a tuesday night, november 11th. his dad said he had an argue with his wife the night before bit was still out of character for him to take off abruptly. they say he went back after work and grabbed, money, clothes and camping gear and they believe he could be in the big sur area where he sometimes goes camping. the mood around think restaurant has been heavy. >> really sad cause he's missing and he's a really friendly guy. he was always here in the morning and laughing and it's really, really sad that he is missing. >> reporter: authorities say

erb was driving a large, dark blue, 2004 four door ford pickup with rnia license plate number 7 p 34 t 09. it has a long bed, pinted windows and a fox motorcycle sticker on the back window. investigators do not expect foul play, but consider brian to be at risk. so they need to find him to make sure he is okay. the lead detective at the concord police station has been working on the case and is due back right now. we will hopefully talk to him this morning and bring you details later in the show. live in concord, channel 2 news. it is 7:18. an unusual kidnapping for ransom case. san jose police stressing the importance of reporting crimes. a business owner was kidnapped at gun point earlier this month but the family did not contact investigators until the next

day. >> in this case there was a delay. we want to encourage others if a crime occurred notify the police department as soon as possible. >> reporter: five people are under arrest for the kidnapping. police say the men dressed as police officers and kidnapped the victim at gun point on november 4th. the suspects then reportedly asked the victim's family for $1 million. police eventually rescued the victim. sarah palin says she believes she could beat president obama if she decides to run for president in 2012. in a new york times magazine interview, sarah palin said she is considering running for president and is talking about it with her family and advisers. in an interview with barbara walters, sarah palin was asked if she thought she could beat president obama and she said "i believe so." nancy pelosi says she is looking forward to working with republican colleagues when they take over control of the house of representatives in january.

yesterday democrats chose pelosi to represent them as minority leader. >> we extend the hand of friendship to the republicans. we look forward to hearing their ideas on job creation and deficit reduction. >> reporter: the republicans chose the current minority leader john boehner as the house speaker. the upcoming hearing on proposition 8 will be carried on live tv. the court of appeals in san francisco will allow c-span to broadcast the december 6th hearing. a judge overturned prop 8 saying the voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. now supporters of the ballot measure are appealing that ruling. the senate may vote on ending the don't ask don't tell policy in the military but the outcome is unpredictable. senate majority leader reid says he will call for a vote after thanksgiving to allow gay service members to serve openly in the u.s. military.

but several leading republicans, including senator john mccain oppose an end to don't ask, don't tell. some valet hoe parents are angry about an anti-bullying campaign that deals with sexuality. it is called respect for all. it involves students watching a short film for year but some parents say they should be allowed to choose whether their children see the film and others were angry they were never notified. it is part of a settlement reached with the american civil liberties union after a gay student was harassed. the student body president at fresno state revealed he is living in the country illegally. pedro ramirez has lived here since he was years old. he didn't find out about his illegal status until he applied for scholarships and grants in high school. a state bill allows him to pay

check this out. right now all of the rescued miners from chile are on a plane to los angeles. when they arrived in atlanta's airport, from chile, a couple of hours ago, they then boarded a flight to l.a. they have been invited, along with five rescuers, to be the special guests at a heros tribute on saturday night. while in southern california

they plan to do sightseeing and shopping and for many of them in the first time they have ever been outside of chile a van that provides services to the homeless will take place today. it will provide flu shots to hair cuts to veterans benefit and employment health. the events will be on bay road from 9:00 in the morning until 2:00. a 65-year-old woman is dead after hit by a ucf shuttle bus in san francisco. police say the victim was in a crosswalk at gary leavenworth yesterday afternoon when the passenger van made a turn and hit her. it was caught on a nearby surveillance camera. at the top of the screen, you can see the woman crossing the street. the ucf bus then makes the left turn and suddenly stops. ucf says the bus driver involved in the crash was hired

three years ago and had a clean driving record. the driver stayed on the scene and gave a statement to police. it is unknown if the driver will face charges. let's see what is happening on the roads now. how's the commute? >> we will start with the south bay this time around. northbound 280 traffic is busy in to the valley, which is typical. looking for crashes and i don't see anything going on right now that would cause alarm. traffic is moving well. a couple of things in the east bay and one in san francisco i will tell you about in just a moment here. go to the bay bridge. it is backed up for a 15 to 20- minute delay. nothing unusual. there crossing in to san francisco. if you are going to get off at the ninth street off ramp, there is an injury accident reported there. the vehicles have been moved to 8th and harrison or they are being moved now. this caused traffic in san francisco to be slow if you are on 101 or westbound 80.

violent protests yesterday ended with a dozen arrests. jade hernandez is live from the mission bay campus where there is already a police presence there. >> yesterday we knew protesters were going to be bussed in from various uc schools and we knew demonstrators would be outside of the mission bay community center. that's because uc regents board members were going to discuss an 8% tuition hike. today they did not want to divulge where they would hold the biggest protest and this is the reason why. police clashed with 300 demonstrators here at the community center. ktvu watched as they tried to get through the garage. a crowd of four dozen, pushed and shoving ensued. one officer who appears was left behind as fell he officers exited through a garage elevator scuffled with the crowd. as he tried to clear it, he drew his gun on those around him. >> we tried to get in going

through the stairwell and they started to go up the stairwell. they were like hitting the steps with the billy clubs trying to get us to get out. >> the officer was rushed and surrounded by a group of demonstrators. the crowd disarmed the officer of his baton. the officer was injured. while he did draw his weapon to protect himself. >> reporter: outside the garage, behind the building, at least 15 people were pepper sprayed and police pulled out batons on protesters who tried to charge past officers and barricades where board members and regents were meeting. 13 were arrested and four police officers suffer minor injuries. students are upset because the proposed tuition hike vote will follow last year's 32% fee hike pushing tuition up $822 from this year. about 40 demonstrators last night held a meeting on uc berkeley's campus to discuss

demonstrations planned today. the media was not allowed inside. neither were police. i want to bring you back here to the mission bay community center. this is ucf's building right here. you can see campus police are here. they have barricades up, and this time yesterday morning there were already protesters out here. this morning, not the case but police are not taking any chances. they are still a heavy presence here in san francisco. reporting live, jade hernandez, channel 2 news. mixed news about jobs this morning from the labor department. initial unemployment claims are up 289,000. that is what was expected. officials say it is an indication that fewer jobs are being cut but not many new jobs are being created. well n the bay area, one of the largest biotech companies

plans to lay off 750 workers. rumors at again tech have been swirling last year when it was purchased by roche roche. more than 600 people would lose their jobs at genetech headquarters in south san francisco with 100 more let go from the vacville manufacturing facility. but employees say they don't know who will be let go. >> people are guarded about it. they, you know, they are worried about the future. they have no control over what's going on. >> reporter: a spokeswoman says the first round of cuts will come in mid january with more cuts continuing through december of 2012. state farm insurance is also cutting bay area jobs. the company plans to close the regional office and move the operations to bakersfield. state farm says it will help

relocate most of the 850 employees to the new kern county offices. state farm will also close nine smaller offices, including one in san francisco. the changes were part of a statewide restructuring plan that state farm says will improve efficiency. foreclosures are forcing home prices lower, and some of the hardest hit markets. san francisco based firm trulia says some markets have hit an all time high. minneapolis had the steepest reductions. fresno, long beach and sacramento were also on the list. trulia says individual sellers are having a tough time competing with low prices on foreclosured homes. a big announce by two big social networking sites. facebook and my space sent an e- mail to news organizations overnight about an invitation only event at noon.

walking his dog found a body and severed arm. on the south side of the polo thing. police have not identify the body or said how the arm was severed but said both were the homeless encampments but no evidence that there is any connection between them and the body. >> i'm a runner and i live a couple of blocks from here and i love to go to the park and using the park and it makes me less comfortable going there. >> i bike every day and i run three times a week in the park and i would love to be in there at 5:30, but it is dark. >> but you are not. >> i know i shouldn't. every once in a while i do and i live to get up in the morning -- i live for the opportunity to get up in the morning and take a run but i know it isn't safe. >> reporter: a man attributes

it to underground economies in the park but it is not only homeless people but their pets. in july two unleashed dogs attacked three people in the park sending them to the hospital. san francisco police officers had to shoot one of the dogs and wound it before it could get away d escape. a second ago, before we came on. i was talking to a group of people who say they live in the park and they say there is a suspect in custody and the stabbing happened on tuesday night. i will find out from the police station around the corner if that is in fact the case. reporting live in san francisco, channel 2 news. >> thank a wanted man led pitts police on a wild chase in a stolen car. police first saw lloyd harris in the back of an suv last night. when they tried to pull the vehicle over, harris jumped between the two men in the front seats and forced them out. harris drove away, but he crashed in to a center divider

delay. so steady with no major issues. show you the peninsula. we had an accident at 280 at 380. the area is not looking so good. daly city, south san francisco, not that great right now. 101 is okay to san mateo. across the bay if you are driving on 880 southbound speeds are down to 17 miles an hour, which is pretty slow obviously. when you see red on the map map it means traffic is pretty slow. on the san mateo bridge it is nice and green across foster city. let's go to steve. partly sunny, low clouds and a lot of fog last night reduced visibility. that's lifted a bit. the big message for friday in to sunday is it will get really cold for us. i know it is november but this is an extremely cold air mass that will be moving in on saturday and sunday. if you must travel, there is nothing up there right now. the wind picked up.

the dow is 17 -- is up 170 right now. and the nasdaq and s&p 19. california lawmakers packed their bags for hawaii to mix business with pleasure. pam cook is live from the newsroom now with some details. good morning, pam. >> good morning. in the midst of a huge budget deficit, several state lawmakers are on the islands mixing with special interest groups. taxpayers are apparently not paying for the trips, but the travel and lodging is provided by donation groups. some of the most powerful special interest groups. drug companies, pg&e and southern california edison are there. critic says they are basically vacationing with corporate executives and lobbyists who are looking for their vote when they head to sacramento next month. organizers of the conference argue that taking trips to relaxing settings such as maw by allow public policymakers

marijuana dispensaries are following the attorney general race. the l.a. district attorney said he considers the dispensaries to be illegal retail outlets. the campaign manager for the san francisco d.a. says she supports the legal use of medical marijuana. the attorney for philadelphia fill phillip -- are sealed. his attorney says releasing the grand jury transcripts and other documents would jeopardize his right to a fair trial. the hearing on that request is set for next month. sacramento attorneys involved in a bang beating case are vowing they will drag facebook in to court for access to postings by one of the jurors. they say the juror posted trial updates and they want to see a feedback from friend -- they want to see if feedback from

after a brief scuffle the suspect ran off. 30 minutes later, police say another man was approached by three people near university avenue and seneca street. one of them had a gun and demanded money. a fight broke out between the victim and the suspects, and those suspects ran off. police aren't sure if the attempted robberies are connected. you have got to see this. police in the east bay hope surveillance tape will lead to an arrest after a terrifying takeover robbery. three gunmen targeted a newark restaurant that prides itself on family fun. the three men burst in to this chuck e. cheese restaurant on saturday night and ordered the 40 customers in to a storage room. a lot of those customers were children. >> i'm sure it was traumatic especially for the children and very aggressive takeover. >> i wouldn't feel safe to bring my kids back there. >> it is an unfortunate thing but there are people out there that are on drugs and certain other things that is going to affect them and they are going

with 300 demonstrators here at u cbs sf community center. protesters tried to get in through the garage. a crowd of four dozen surged, pushing and shoving ensued. one officer who appears was left behind as his fellow officers exited through a garage elevator scuffled with a crowd as he tried to clear it and he drew his gun on those around him. >> we tried to go down the stairwell an they pushed up the stairwell. someone fell across me and they were like hitting the steps with the billy club trying to get us to go out. >> the officer was rushed an surrounded by a group of demonstrators. the crowd disarmed the officer of his baton. the officer was injured. he did draw his weapon to protect himself. >> reporter: outside of the garage, behind the building, at least 15 people were pepper sprayed and police pulled batons on protesters who tried

background checks in to cell phone records and credit card history and have no information on his whereabouts. >> reporter: authorities say erb was driving a large, dark blue pickup with california license plate number 7p34909. it has a long bed, tinted window, and a fox motorcycle stick attorney back win de. police say that he went back to his house after work and grabbed money and clothes as well as camping gear. he frequently camps in the big sur area. so they have located the authorities in that area. time is 8:18. an unusual kidnapping has police stressing the importance of reporting crimes. a local business owner was kidnapped at gun point earlier this month but the family didn't contact investigators until the next day.

being hit bay shuttle bus in san francisco. police say the victim was in the cross walk at gary and leavenworth yesterday afternoon when the passenger van made a turn and hit her. it was actually captured on a nearby surveillance camera. look at the top of the screen. you can see the woman crossing the street. the ucf bus makes a left turn on gary and suddenly stops. the bus driver involved in the crash was hired three years ago and had a clean driving record. the driver remained at the scene and gave a full statement to the police. we still don't know if the driver will face charges. we want to check in with sal. what's happening on the bridges? >> things are getting busier on the bridges. also in san francisco, just heard san francisco fire department dispatched to an accident northbound on ma sonic at ofarrell. and we will see what's going on there. with the commute. this is a look at the westbound bay bridge. that traffic looks pretty good.

about campus police officer who pulled his gun on a crowd of protesters yesterday. this happened when police were holding the line near elevators in the campus parking garage. protesters tried to get in the conference hall. this officer pulled his gun as he struggled with the student demonstrators. now, a professor at uc hastings college of law saw this. this is what he said about this incident. >> i can't watch that tape and say that the officer made a mistake. i can say the campus police should have had it better staffed. >> reporter: the chief said the crowd hit the baton out of the officer's harm are arms and he was hit in the head with the baton but you can't see it in the video. an investigation continues. this morning's labor department report on unemployment is mixed news.

initial claims are up by 2,000 to 439,000. that's about what economists had predicted. continuing claims fell by 48,000 to 4.3 million. those numbers indicate few jobs are being cut, but there are also no signs for any new ones being created. one of the biggest biotech firms plans to layoff 750 local workers. rumors about layoffs have been swirling since last year when it was bought by roche. a company e-mail announced the news most were dreading. more than 600 people would lose their jobs at genetech. but worker says they don't know who will be let go. >> people kind of a little guarded about it. they are worried about the

future. they have no control over what's going on. >> reporter: a genetech spokeswoman says the first round of cuts will come in mid january with more cuts through december of 2012. state farm insurance is also cutting bay area jobs. the company plans to close the regional office and move the operations to bakersfield. state farm says it will help relocate most of the 450 workers to the new kern county offices. state farm will also close nine smaller offices, including one in san francisco. the changes are part of a statewide restructuring plan that state farm says will improve efficiency. the time is 8:33. state subsidies for child care will continue until december 31st under the welfare to work program. 55,000 california kids were originally supposed to lose their child care slots on november 1st because of budget cuts, but now this third extension of time gives parents

time to find a new program. some state lawmakers were hoping to restore funding when they reconvene next month. two dozen state lawmakers are spending time this month discussing green energy, health care, government reform and other big issues at a conference in maui. the lawmakers airfare and lodging for the conference are paid for in return for their participation. representatives will be joining the lawmakers at the conference. critics say the lawmakers are basically on vacation with corporate executives and lobbyists who will be looking for their votes when they head back to sacramento. 7:30. the latest numbers in the state attorney general's race show democrat harris is maintaining her lead over republican. harris lead is a little over 30,000 with 46% of the vote compared to 45.6 for cooley. several hundred thousand ballots remain to be counted.

the outcome must be officially announced by december 3rd. supporters of medical marijuana dispensaries are closely following this state attorney general race. steve cooley the l.a. district attorney said he considers the dispensaries to be illegal retail outlets. the campaign manager for harris, san francisco's d.a. says she supports the legal use of medical marijuana. we're still getting new information about a man who was shot in emeryville last night. police say the man flagged down a chp officer near powell street and christy avenue at 9:30 last night telling them he had been shot. the man was rushed to a local hospital. he continues to recover this morning. still no arrests have been made. a richmond teenager has died after a shooting in broad daylight. now, police say the 18-year-old was near south 30th street and cutting boulevard with at least two oh people yesterday morning. a gunman walked up and opened

fire on the group. the teenager died at the scene. investigators say the shooter jumped in to a dark blue chevy suburban and took off. they say the getaway vehicle is about 5 to 10 years old. san francisco police are investigating a stabbing at golden gate park. it's the latest in a string of violent incidents at the bay area's most popular park. craig spoke to one man who has firsthand knowledge of the problem and he is joining us live with an update. >> reporter: good morning. in fact a couple of people we spoke to this morning say they were here on tuesday knight. i did just speak with not only the park police, which is basic lay substation here at golden gate park, just around the corner and police headquarters within the hour and both say they have no information on whether or not there is a suspect in that tuesday night stabbing. it happened 6:15 on tuesday night. police say a 19-year-old man was stabbed twice in the back and it is the latest in a series of violent episodes here

at the golden gate park's recent history. sunday's news maybe the most disturbing of them all. a man walking his dog found a body and a severed arm of on the south side of the polo field. police have not identified the body or said how the arm was severed but said both were decomposing when found. the area is known to have homeless encampments but there is no evidence there is any connection between them and the body. although homeless people we spoke to said the victims and the suspects are often other people who live in the park and not people who use golden gate park for only recreational purposes. >> that makes me feel safer, yes. but it is still concerning that it is happening at all in this neighborhood. i feel like it is overall a safe place to live. >> i noticed in the news it is supposed to be transient on transient crimes but i don't see where people in the park might be next or someone from

the south bay right now. we have partly sunny skies and kind of cool and breezy for many. temperatures come down today. not bad yesterday just not as warm as sunday and monday where we had the mid-80s. but that is long gone. by the weekend some locations hard pressed to get over 50 degrees for high inland. and the coast 55 or 56. inland it will turn cold. little cooler today. the system is moving in to lake county and sonoma county. fog some of it hit and miss. some sun and fog. sun and clouds, cooler. 50s and 60s for temperatures. had a couple of 30s for a while and then fog came in and wind picked up. everybody is close. the big news is the front coming in but that's the first of what will be a rather strong surge of some very cold air as the low off of vancouver

counties are suing erstock.com. the suit claims the company misleads customers about how much money they actually save by shopping on the site. and since 2006 overstock's claims of discounts were often based on the company's own arbitrary markups ratherrer than competitors prices. one example cited in the lawsuit a patio for $449 that overstock said sold for $1,000 elsewhere. when the outdoor furniture was delivered it had a 249 wal-mart price tag. executives at overstock.com say the company is known for offering quality products at great prices. and that the company has tried to work with the northern california offices on the issues mentioned in in the lawsuit. civil complaint was filed by district attorneys in self counties and it requests $15

a northern california school employee has received death threats over an american flag story. this 13-year-old boy was told to remove a flag from his bike saying it was prompting complaints and raising some racial tensions. the school reversed the decision after getting complaints from all over the country. the threatened employee did not want to be identified but

sacramento tv station kcra confirmed two school board trustees have also received threats. britain's fragile economy could make it tough to plan the wedding. it must be grand but not so expensive it offends taxpayers. they may exvows at westminster abbey. money for the wedding could come from the government but the queen, prince charles and middle don's parents are expected to help to foot the bill. marriage may be becoming obsolete. that's according to four in ten people surveyed in a new study by the pugh research center and "time" magazine. the study found 29% of children under the age of 18 live with a parent who's divorced, separated or never married. that's five times the amount in 1960. this news follows the new census data released in september that showed marriage is at an all-time low of 52%
