who police say broke into a berkeley home and sexually assaulted a young girl. ktvu's tara moriarty joins u nlive from the neighborhood with more on the investigation. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning, tori. police say it was was through a window similar to this one, the rapist was able to gain access to a girl. we're off evelyn avenue, where authorities say omar sosa c limbed into an unlocked window and sexually assaulted a girl. she was treated at a hospital and released. police say they wouldn't have been able to identify him without her help. >> you want to talk about a valiant effort? she's been traffic. >> reporter: berkeley investigators believe sosa may be headed to mexico to avoid g etting arrested. they say he could be be driving

a gray -- could be driving a 1997 ford ranger, gray in color. they have contacted border patrol. it's unclear whether the suspect and victim new each other. when he returns, he faces c harges of sodomy and rape. back to you. >> thank you. a benicia man is in jail this morning accused of molesting his girlfriend's 7- year-old daughter. police say they arrested 40- year-old james garcia yesterday. garcia lives with the girl's mother. police say the girl told her mother that garcia touched her inappropriately. he's being held on $200,000 bail as the investigation continues. a marin county man accuse of starching his 19 -- of starving his son to death -- and abusing his other children

is being released today. he served the minimum time after 16-year prison sentence. 7:03. we've just learned that a little boy, a toddler has died after falling 50 feet after the warriors! lakers game in los angeles. a little boy fell out of a luxury suite, just minutes after the lakers defeated the way yers at the staples -- warriors at the staples center last night. he was about 2, 3 years old. coming up in the next hour, we'll take you live to leaks to find out more -- los angeles to find out more about this t ragedy. residents in this house on r esa road woke up to the smell of smoke. the homeowner said he left logs smoldering in the fireplace. that triggered a fire in the living room. he acted a garden hose and put out the fire even before the

firefighters arrived. luckily, no one was hurt. the firefighters are reminding all of us, make sure fireplace fires are completely out before you go to bed. 7:04. pack your tire chains if you are heading to the sierra this week. they are required on all of the highways now. over the weekend, blustery winds blew the sleet on the roads and part of the road looked like a parking lot. an entire lane of traffic is pulled over so drivers could install chains. vehicles were only allowed a few miles past this point without them. the chain requirement caught some drivers offguard. >> it's just a lower snow level. i think that's what is -- that's what is causing people s urprised. it's more of a january weather thing. >> the news is better for you skiers and snowboarders. the lifts are up at squaw v

alley, heavenly and boyle. sugar bowl and alpine meadows open up on the 10th. this is mount hamilton is in the south bay -- hamilton in the south bay. up to 5 inches of snow fell on hamilton. we're watching gas prices for you. the average price across the country, $2.88. of course, here in the bay area, the price is higher. sanfrancisco posting the highest price at $3.27. in san jose, it's 6 cents cheaper. oakland, $3.19. that's nearly 23 cents a gallon more than last thanksgiving w eek. >> wow. that's quite a jump. let's see how people are getting with their gas mileage. >> some people are doing better

than others. i want to show you in contra costa county, a lot of idling, unfortunately, in antioch. red means stop-and-go traffic. green means traffic okay. if you are looking at the fremont commute, heading down to fremont out of hayward, near highway 92. and then some slow-and-go traffic in union city. the bay bridge toll plaza is backed under for about a t en- minute delay. you will start to see people are gonna work a short week, depends how short. some people work three days. others two. some people have the whole week off. we'll see. we've noticed that some of the retailers will be open on thanksgiving thursday. we'll see how many are out there shopping that day. let's go to steve. here you go. pretty picture. we do have a cloud of breaks in the clouds. thank you. it took me about a half our to

morning. in the mornings, inland areas will be in the 20s. inland areas will see some 2 0s, 30s, low 40s near the coast. smoke packing up and then there will continue be to -- continue to be more snow t onight. the system starts at 9:00 p.m. and goes until 6:00 on tuesday. tahoe/truckee could be below zero as we get to thanksgiving morning. that will bring a cold analysts rain. clear it out wednesday. there will be 20s. highs will gradually warm up thursday and friday. information just coming in. losgatos-based netflix are raising the prices of some of their subscription accounts. netflix says subscription plans

ramatic. there's this youtube video from over the weekend that shows the young boy with his shirt off g etting a pat-down in the security line. the boy's father reportedly took the shirt off to hurry the process along but the -- but the people in line, the passenger who took this youtube, were o utraged that the boy was s ingled out by security. then there's the story of the bladder cancer surviver who had his bag bust and had to get on the plane covered in urine. >> this is so embarrassing, almost humiliating. i don't think anyone is prepared for this to happen in a large airport. >> reporter: pistole says there's no immediate plans to change the screening procedures but he does says tsa is e xamining ways to do this in the least controversial way in order to keep bombs and

terrorists off planes. now, one man slipped down to his underwear to say he's not a danger to anyone. when he refused to put his clothes on to go through the p at-down procedure, he was arrested. police confiscated his iphone which he was using to record everything happening, also a video camera used by someone else traveling with hill. some of those who oppose the enhanced security procedures are calling for a national opt-out day this wednesday, the day before thanksgiving, and a giant holiday. those calling for the protests are urging passengers to refuse the screening methed this. >> it's a horrible invasion of privacy. i don't want people to be inconvenienced but mainly, i don't want them to be eradiated and sexual lip assaulted by tsa

agents. 7:16. defense secretary robert gates says he does not believe north korea's new add vanceed n uclear -- advanced nuclear facility is part of a energy program. gates says it a -- there appears to be an enrichment facility. last week, north korea showed off the once top-visiting facility. hector told "the new york times" he was stunned by the p hysicalcation of the plan. iran has set a new trial date for the three uc berkeley graduates accused of spying. sarah shourd, shane bauer and josh fattal were originally scheduled to go back on -- to go on trial and that trial date

has been delayed because shourd was not summoned to attend. the top military commander here in the u.s. says he sports congress using its lame-duck session to repeal the military's don't ask/don't tell policy. admirable mike mullin says he would rather see congress address the issues than have it decided in the courts. admirable mullin says he s upports ending the ban on gays searching openly in the military because he says aspeop goes against the integrity. 7:18. the state could be blocked from selling 11 buildings it owns after a court hearing today. two taxpayers trying to block the sale. a financial analyst says selling the buildings could raise $ 1 million but would cost the state muff more than that over the next 30 years. the state plans to lease back office space from the

building's new owners. and questions are being raised about the new art museum being built in the wake of tuition hikes. the project is expected to cost $90 million. only half of that has been r aised, recordly. it is unclear where the extra money would come from but a campus spokesman said no count fees could be used -- would be used. 7:19. plan to spend more money to buy thanksgiving dinner this year compared to last year. the food institute says the price of a turkey is up more than 25 cents a pound. higher prices for potato, onions and sweet potatoes are making many of the traditional side dishes more expensive as well. there is another group who says the typical dinner for 10 people will cost $44.17 this year. that's up almost $4 compared to

last year's costs. beginning wednesday, b.a.r.t. will run longer trains, along the pittsburg/bay point line to sfo. more long-term parking spaces will also be available. b.a.r.t. is also planning to run longer trains on sunday, november 28th. a lot of those travelers come back home to the bay area that day. >> that's right. one bay area city made national headlines with its r ules on pot. today, the wheels start turning on this ground-breaking program. also, storms really hit up the skies especially saturday. look at these pictures of the bay bridge. how much damage that lightning may have caused.

starting today, the city of oakland will start deciding who will get the four valuable permits needed to run a medical marijuana farm in the city. hundreds of groups say they are interested but these permits are expected to go to the wealthiest growers since the price of a single permit is $211,000 a y ear. last summer, the city of oakland became the first city in e whole country to license large-scale pot cultivation. b.a.r.t. officials say two weekend incidents are reminders to watch where you step when you get off the train. one man got his leg stuck in the gap between the train and the platform saturday night at the walnut creek station. fortunately the train opquickly an's leg was freed in 20 m inutes. no word op extent of the injuries but the incident

caused some delays. and in la fayette, a woman did the same thing but she pulled her foot out quickly and was uninjured. some incredible pictures of the bay bridge hit by lightning over the weekend. this is 5:52 saturday evening. keep watching the towers. two towers were actually hit simultaneously right there by those bolts of lightning. this roof was -- shot was taken from the roof camera at our bank of america building in san francisco. caltrans said the lightning didn't cause any problems on the bay area's busiest bridge. >> those towers are all steel and they act like a lightning rod. >> caltrans says it's not unusual for the bridge to be lit by lightning. they have never seen it hit

simultaneously by two lightning bolts. caltrans says the strikes may have caused some blackening by the tops of the towers. that area may have to be painted again because of that. >> an incredible shot. i suppose this week are be lighter than normal? >> yes. >> on this monday we're not seeing it yet but i think we'll start to see it closer as we get to -- as we get closer to thanksgiving. let's go out and take a look at what we have now. the traffic is going to be busy this morning if you are driving over the bay bridge. there's also slow traffic on the bridge itself in san francisco. also this morning we're looking at 880. not too bad here in front of the oakland coliseum. traffic in both directions moving along very well. on the nimitz freeway a little bit further down. hayward heading south.

across the bay, we have traffic that's going to be okay on highway 101, it looks like southbound 280 there. 380, they are clearing an accident. it's 380 near el camino real. but that accident is not really causing a big slowdown on 880. let's go to steve. thank you, sal. we do have some scattered showers around. a little bit of sun, clouds, showers. that's the forecast with temperatures staying in the 50s for many. it looks like a few showers p opping up near sebastopol and petaluma. mix of sun, showers. 50s on your temperatures. we continue to see snow up in the sierra-nevada. we're looking for light snow up there. i just heard from our observer up in the keys, three feet has fallen since friday. that's at the keys. that's at lake level. if you are on the north shore somewhere, you can always e- mail and say i picked up less or m ore.

so we do have one more system coming down the pipeline, a mix of sun, clouds, showers. temperatures actually gone down the last couple of hours. one arctic system, yes, arctic coming right down off vancouver island. that has to slide by tonight in to tomorrow. 50s for your temperatures today. a very cool day with few scattered showers around. a very cold rain arrives tomorrow. then we clear it out. it will be cold w ednesday/thursday northerning. inland areas will see some 2 0s, not the coast, not the bay but inland areas. be careful of that there could be ice forming. oakland and richmond have both made a list of -- of the top cities in america. also, rescued rats, the bay area city is now the home to these rodents and the reason w hy. why air travelers -- a dash

passengers are noticing when they book a flight out of san jose.

this shooting follows the release of the cities with the

most crime. >> reporter: all of the violence in the city of oakland and richmond has put both cities on the list of the most dangerous in the nation. four people were shot at east 28th street and 12th avenue. one of the people died there at the scene or the hospital. people say the three other victims either drove themselves or were driven to the hospital. one person is in critical condition. police have not made any a rrests. the crimes done by the survey track crimes and property theft. california has two cities in the top ten. oakland is number 5. >> that's the statistic. but i've lived in oakland all my life. i know down in the flatlands on the east side, there are a lot of killings that have been going on. but i think oakland is a pretty good city. >> it's usually bad guys

killing bad guys. so as soon as all of the bad g uys kill all of the bad guys, we can live happily-ever after. >> reporter: according to the poll, the most dangerouscy in america, st. louis, missouri. the safest is colony, new york. california not the only state that has two cities. michigan does, too. detroit and flint, michigan made the list. we found out that camp -- compton, california is lower on the list than oakland. we have some reaction on that that we would like to share with you. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 n ews. >> thank you, kraig. a vallejo man is in critical condition after being shot at a comedy club in fairfield. police say the 29-year-old victim was shot once in the stomach but is expected to

survive. police say it was a chaotic scene at the club. officers called in other answers to help after several fights broke out and people refused to leave. officers are still trying to identify the shooter and the motive. later today, investigators are expected to give us new details about the mysterious death of a concord man. on friday, police found the body of 3 -- of a 33-year-old man in a room at a lodge in northern idaho. investigators say there's no sign of foul play surrounding this, but that's all they are saying about his death. brian erb vanished n ovember 10th. his father says he left with c amping girl but he didn't tell his wife and two young daughters where he was going. police in san anselmo are working to identify the people they say broke into 37 vehicles over the weekend. the break-ins happened on seven different streets. ate of the vehicles had -- eight of the vehicles had

property stolen. police encourage people not to leave valuables in your car and to never leave your car u nlocked. an emergency shelter has been set up in san jose for 1,000 domestic rats. these baby rats are just some of the runs rescued from a home in los angeles. volunteers helped transport the rats to the pet shop over the weekend for the show "hoarders." if you are interested in volunteering to care for the r ats or would like to adopt one, contact north star rescue. passengers flying out of san jose are paying more c ompared to sfo passengers. average airfares have gone up 12% at mineta airport. fares went down by 8% at san francisco international airport over the same period.

sanjose airport says fewer flights are to blame for driving up thosary fares, not the $ 1.3 billion makeover. and fares may be cheaper out of sfo, weather-related delays are more common. sanfrancisco is on the top ten list due to fog at the airports. the top spot -- chicago's o'hare because of the weather and the volume of people. 7:35. some very sad new developments about a tragic accident that happened right after last n ight's warrior games against the l.a. warriors. a little boy has died after f alling 50 feet at the staples center. bob decastro joins us live from the staples center with some of the details. just a terrible story, bob. >> reporter: horrible, tori. behind me you can seeland

investigators are still -- and lapd investigators are still here trying to figure out what happened last night. right after the laker game. the toddler 2 to 3 years old, we're told he may have been taking some pictures from that luxury suite. we have an image of that luxury suite. it's a third deck or third-tier luxury suite. and then you can see the security personnel above and below. it gives you an idea of the distance there. we're told he may have fallen some 50 feet below to some lower level seating. witnesses say that after he f ell, he may have been moving his arms, his legs, even his head. paramedics came here to the scene very quickly. they rushed him to the medical center nearby. had his name has not been released as of yet. but again, just a horrible tragedy here. a lot of folks in this area are really stunned by what happened and investigators are still here trying to figure out exactly what led to this boy's

traffic is moving along okay. now, across the bay on the peninsula, highway 101 southbound past the airport, i a know a lot of people are worried about getting to the airport. nothing that you especially need to worry about on the bayshore freeway. 280 will be slow at 380, which is typical. if you are leaving the city, i would say 101 is a better bet. let's go to, sal. some sunbreaks, some clouds. cold out there. a lot of 40s and a few o ff-and- on showers. still a few more showers in the system. more snow in the mountains. today would be a good day to

travel. a cold system drops in late monday night, tuesday morning for us. after that, we'll see clear, better conditions but the lows for wednesday and thursday are gonna be very cold. we'll see some 20s in the w ind- protected areas. still a few showers popping up, coming down to the northwest. with some afternoon heating that would trigger in more showers. mix of sun and clouds. livermore starting off 44 degrees. 52 at noon. a high of only 56 degrees. same for san francisco starting off 9. sun and clouds. we'll also go 56. 42 now in napa and santa rosa. seems popular. livermore, concord, 49 oakland, berkeley, san francisco. 40 cold degrees up in eureka. they had a cold rain up to crescent city and 40s all the way down to palm springs with 20s and 30s up in the mountains. that's extremely cold air. this will be a low snow

producer for northern california, the northern mountains and tahoe truckee leaving behind some very cold readings and we get towards wednesday and thursday. today, sun and clouds. still cool. off-and-on showers. that's that cool rain tuesday morning. after that, we clear it up but the mornings away from the coast will be really cold by wednesday and thursday. snow totals have been stacking up. i there's been 5 to 6 at the elevations. one more system has to drop in. the winter system starts at 9:00 tonight and goes until 6:00 p.m. on tuesday. 50s for your highs today on the temperatures, one more system drops down on the -- down out of north. we clear it out and we'll see slightly warmer weather thursday and friday. twenty minutes before 8:00.

peg is considering raising the pressure in two natural gas pipelines that run alongside the run that -- the one that blew up in san francisco. that's the possibility that's alarming many residents as well as lawmakers. meantime, state legislators are taking new action in response to last september's disaster in super. they are calling op -- in super. they are calling on -- in san bruno. they are calling on california to hire more inspectors. and they say -- rescue crews in new zealand trying to reach those 29 trapped coal miners now are saying for the first time they may not have survived friday's mine e xplosion. still, the rescue teams plan to send a military robot into the mine where the men are trap. this robot will be fitted

fitted with a camera and also send back video. toxic gases have prevented them going into the mine. there's been no contact with the missing men. two of the men were able to escape. in china, it was a happy e nding for more than two dozen men in a flooded coal mine. they were actually pulled out alive after waiting a day for rescuers to pump out water. none of the 29 men were seriously hurt. thirteen other miners managed to escape yesterday after the water flooded in. those workers who were trapped found a dry spot about 125 feet down and waited out the rescue. 7:6. president john f. kennedy was assassinated 7 years ago today. for decades, many of the secret service agents assigned to protect the president have remained quiet about the assassination. now two agents are breaking

their silence. sandra endo joins us with more from washington, d.c. with more on their story. >> reporter: good morning. it's really a remarkable account of what exactly happened 7 years ago today. we all know these images of president kennedy, a very charismatic young president, going through the parade route here in dallas, texas, wanting to really be in connection with the people and -- according to this book "the kennedy detail" written by two former secret service agents, jerry blaine and clint hill, they say the president just days before this account, he told the agents he really wanted to be mingling with the crowd. it was during an election year that he really wanted to be with the people and that's why he told agents to really back off a littleby. the aent -- the agent said they don't blame the president for giving them the orders, nor was it a measure that could have prevented the shooting h appening -- the shooting from

new studies show there's been a drop in emergency room visits from children because of

certain medications. some parents are still giving their infants and toddlers the medicine. the government is warning to get rid of the medicines or at least keep them out of the -- out of use of children. pharmaceutical companies say expense of drug take-back do drive up the cost of drugs. supporters say unused drugs are often thrown in the trash or flushed down the toilet. 7:54. posting clever tweets in oklahoma city could get you a much bigger audience. well, an advertising has a digital billboard that receives thousands of tweets every day only for our five get picked for the billboard. old tires will be used to

girl. ktvu's tara moriarty joining us live from berkeley police headquarters with new details. good morning, tire raw. >> reporter: good morning. berkeley police are supposed to be speaking to us about this rape case within the next hour or so, giving us until sou information. they've notified law enforcement agencies throughout the state in hopes of catching this rape suspect. they believe he's 27-year-old omar sosa. he entered his way through an u nlocked bedroom window on evelyn avenue in north berkeley. this is where they say he sexually assaulted a young girl early saturday morning. investigators believe he's fred the -- he's fled the bay area. >> i want too reassure our citizens that the immediate threat posed by mr. sosa is g one. we're confident he's no longer amongst us and we're working hard toward his capture.

>> reporter: they believe he could be driving a gray pickup, a camper shell, ford ranger. they believe they could not have identified the suspect out the victim. they are calling her heroic. one of the things we'll be f inding out is whether the two knew each other. if caught, he faces charges of sodomy, rape. a benicia man is in jail this morning, accused of molesting his girlfriend's 7- year-old daughter. police arrested 40-year-old n ester james garcia yesterday. garcia lives with the little girl's mother. the girl told her mother that garcia touched her i nappropriately. he's being held on $200,000 as the police investigation continues. a ma principal county man convicted of star everyoning it's 19 -- starving his 19- month-old to death and a busing

others is being released from prison today. they will continue to monitor him after he's free. wright was a self-professed lead he after cult-like family that included five women and 13 children. he served a minimum time of a 16-year prison sentence. we've just learned this morning that a toddler has died after falling 50 feet after the lakers/warriors game in los angeles. investigators are still at the staple center this morning. the boy fell from a luxury suite just minutes after the lakers beat the warriors last night. police say the boy was two or three. there are reports he may have been trying to take pictures when he fell. in overnight news, a house fire in pacifica hours ago was serving as a reminder, the homeowner says he left logs smoldering in the fireplace and that triggered a fire in

the living room. he called -- he grabbed a garden hose and put the fire out before firefighters arrived. firefighters are reminding everyone to make sure all fireplace fires are competely out before you go to bed. chains are -- are required on all heirs right now. jade hernandez is live with us on the telephone. you are in south lake tahoe, is that right, jade? >> reporter: yes. we're about 15 minutes from ski run mow rena. we've seen caltrans workers p lowing through the snow. we've been taking -- clerking with the executive director from the lake tahoe visitors association all weekend. i just got off the phone with a spokesman a few minutes ago. most resorts have received up 250 minutes of snow. as for us driving up here, we

got east of placerville, when a caltrans stopped us anded to us we needed to put trains on our live truck. a little unusual this morning. that worker did see a quite -- did see quite a few drivers head up to lake tahoe last night. everyone hopes to see the snow. but this year -- but this year it's unexpectedly fallen sooner than years past. temperatures are supposed to warm up on wednesday. we haven't been able to go live

because our mast on top our live truck is freezing. it's about 28 degrees out there. it's? ing. we are seeing ice and snow mix. so be careful when you come out here. >> how frustrating has it been to drive up there and get around there? >> it's slow. it's slow going, definitely. >> we had chains on our tires. both broke on the back side of the truck. we've just been taking it snow this morning but the snow and sleet mix can be difficult to get through as a driver. when we spoke to the s pokesperson this morning, it seemed like people were really prepared for this. it's a lot earlier in the season than they are normally used. some of the bay area's highest peaks are covered with.

prices. across the country, the average price is 2.88. here in the bay area, it's higher with san francisco p osting the highest price in the mainland states at 3.27. in san jose, it's 6 cents cheaper and oakland is at 3.19. that's nearly 23 cents a gallon more than thanksgiving week last year. and sal is here. >> it's 3.09 in costco if you have a costco card in south san francisco. there is a crash at southbound 101. nearby there is a one-alarm response apartment fire. chp was telling us that -- was telling us at first some of the smoke was visible from the highway. so far limited this a one-alarm

exempt prescreened passengers from the process. reporting live from washington, d.c., allison burns, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, alison. 8:16. a passenger at san diego's airport upset about the new tsa screening procedures stripped down to his underwear, he says, to show that he's not a danger to anyone. when he refused to put his clothing back on, though, to go through the pat-down procedure, he was arrested. police also confiscated the iphone used to record the incident and a video camera used by a person talking -- traveling with him. some of those who are opposing this are calling for a national opt out day this wednesday, the day before thanksgiving and a huge holiday travel day. those calling for the protesters are urging them to force the screeners do the pat- downs, the more time-consuming procedure.

>> it's a horrible invasion of privacy. i don't want people to be innvenienced but mainly i don't want them to be eradiated and mainly i don't want them to be eradiated by the tsa. 8:17. defense secretary robert gates says he doubts that north k orea's new advanced nuclear facility is part of a peaceful energy program. gates believes it's really a uranium-etch rin month facility that could help north korea build more nuclear bombs. last week, north korea showed off the top-secret facility to a visiting scientist from s tanford. he told "the new york times" he was stunned by the p hysicalcation of that plant. iran has net set a new trial date for the three uc berkeley graduates accused of spying. sarah shourd, josh fattal and shane bauer were originally

scheduled to go on trial two weeks ago. but yesterday, iranian authorities set a new trial date of february 6th. they said the trial scheduled earlier this month bass de-- was delayed because shourd had not been summoned to be there. the top military commander in the u.s. says he supports congress using its lame-duck session to repeal the military's don't ask/don't tell policy. mike mullin said he would rather see congress address the issues and have it -- decided in the court. admirable mullin says he s upports the this, because he says asking people to lie about themselves goes against the integrity of the armed forces. the state of california could be blocked from c ellingsh -- from selling off 11 state-owned buildings after a court hearing today. two taxpayers are trying to block the sale.

a financial anna sis says s elling off the buildings could raise $1 billion but it would cost the state much more than that over the next 30 years. that's because the state of california prance to lease back office space from the new o wners. a new museum planned is expected to cost $96 million. so far, only half of that money has been raised. the university said it could reportedly provide some money. it's not clear where the money would come from but a s pokesperson says no student f ees would be used. "the san jose mercury news" reports big internet companies are looking for experts to help them create new businesses and fine-tune existing big ones.

big news coming from n etflix. this directly involves anyone who gets movie from that bay area-based company. one mare city made national news with its rules on pot. today the wheels start unturning on this ground- breaking program. if you're driving on interstate 80, westbound of the bridge looks good. but there are chain requirements op 80.

starting today, the city of oakland will decide who will had receive the four valuable p ermits needed to run a medical marijuana farm in the city. the permits are expected to grow to the wealthiest growers since the price of a single permit is $211,000 a year. last summer, oakland became the first city in the nation to license large-scale pot

cultivation. well, lightning strikes twice at bay bridge over the weekend. you can actually see it y ourself. it happened at 5:42 saturday evening. incredible pictures. two of the towers on the bay bridge were hit simultaneously right there by the lightning bolts. these pictures were taken by our roof camera on top of the bank of america building in san francisco. the caltrans spokesperson said the lightning didn't cause any problems on the bay area's busiest bridge. all right. speaking of bridges. traffic is moving on the bay bridge. let's check in with sal for m ore. we're beginning to see the pattern of this. it is a lot lies -- lighter than unusual. the bay bridge has a small d elay. sanmateo bridge looking good. the richmond traffic is looking good. if you are going to the sierra, there are chains required the gold one and state one and

number one. >> reporter: the press says the most dangerous cities in the bay area are in oakland. richmond number 6 and then number 8 is compton. 39 stockton, 57 salinas. 72 sacramento and antioch also made the list at number 91. california, by the way, wasn't the only state with two cities in the top ten. detroit and flint, michigan are numbers 3 and 4 respectively. a vallejo man is in critical condition after being shot at a comedy club in fairfield. this happened just after midnight yesterday. at pepper bellies theater. the 29-year-old victim was shot once in the abdomen area but is expected to survive.

the family of a german t ourist killed near union square in san francisco is reportedly planning a trip back to the bay area. the woman was caught in the crossfire of a good night while walking with her husband down mason street on august 8th. the couple was celebrating their wedding anniversary and her 50th birthday. "the examiner" reports her husband and two sons plan to visit san francisco in april. on friday, police found the body of a 33-year-old in a room at a lodge in northern idaho. investigators say there's no sign of foul play but that's all they're saying about his death. brian erb vanished november 10th. his father says he left with c amping girl but did not tell

his wife and two young daughters where he was going. police in san anselmo are trying to identify the thieves who broke into 37 victims -- into 37 vehicles over the weekend. eight of the vehicles had property stolen from inside. others were just picked through and then just left there. police believe these break-ins happened between noontime saturday and:00 a.m. on sunday. now, the police are encouraging residents not to leave valuables in your car and never leave your car unlocked. an emergency shelter has been set up in san jose to house 1,000 domestic rats. these are little baby rats. they are just some of the ones recued from a house in house during the taping of a reality show called "hooders." volunteers helped -- called "hoarders." develops helped transpore the rats. if you are interested in helping to volunteer for the baby rats or even want to adopt

tara moriarty joins us live with an update from investigators. >> reporter: berkeley police have notified bordered patrol and mexico. they want authorities to be on the look outfor -- lookout for a man they believe to be responsible for raping a girl in her own house over the weekend. joining me live is officer jamie perkins from the police department. can you tell us where the investigation stands? >> at this point what we know is on november 20th, a suspect, 27-year-old omar sosa forced his way into the victim's home and brutally sexually assaulted had her. it's certainly an unfortunate situation. he's not in custody and he believes he may very well be on his way to mexico. >> we have a description of the seek -- we have a description of the vehicle. they believe he could be driving a 1987 ford ranger pickup truck. it's a double cab with what white camper shell. police say they wouldn't haven't have been able to
