more about a 60-year-old man who was killed. some critical questions still need to be answered. >> reporter: the victim's door was blown wide open. the wife leaving everything just how it was before her husband was shot and killed by police. apparently the victim kept a stash of pistols inside his house and neighbors wanted to make sure none of them were stolen. we're here off meek avenue and east spring street where the 60- year-old lived. his wife called 911 yesterday around 3:00 in the afternoon s aying her husband was suicidal and making threats. he worked at psychiatrics

hospitals. when officers arrived, they convinced him to come outside to talk to them. >> there was a confrontation in the intersection just down the street, involving the subject. one officer deployed a taser. another officer deployed his firearm and the subject is deceased at this time. >> reporter: according to the napa valley register, neighbors say he was acting paranoid. one friend said he's not surprised things played out this way. he views this as suicide by cop. but one neighbor said said he was doing everything the o fficers asked him to do and they had no reason to shoot him. the four officers that were involved are on paid leave. the big question was, was the man armed? that is a question that will be left to the napa county s heriff's department. we're live here in napa. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2

news. president obama and hillary clinton will bothing make -- will both be making statements responding to the release of tenses of thousands of secret diplomatic documents. the obama administration is c alling the leak dangerous and reckless. >> reporter: good morning. that's right. the website wikileaks is at it again, releasing secret documents. this time it's state department cables and the obama administration is scrambling to contain the diplomatic fallout. anyone in the world can see t hem, tens of thousands of once confidential documents are now online. the documents revealed that secretary of state hillary clinton and condoleezza rice before her directed american diplomats to spy on allies at embassies and at the united nations, to get information like their credit card numbers and fingerprints. the cables also reveal that gulf states are extremely worried about iran's nuclear program. they are concerned iran has

obtained missiles from north korea. some members of congress want to shut down the wikileak's website and prosecutor the founder. >> leaking the leaks is deplorable. they could have blood on their hands. >>reporter: and president obama has all ordered president agencies to review how they secure their documents. we'll have more live coverage throughout the morning as the administration responds. for now we're live in washington, d.c., alison burns, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. 7:04. one firefighter is among the two people who suffered injuries in an overnight fire in san rafael. it started shortly after midnight at an apartment house on lincoln avenue. crews had the fire under control in just 15 minutes. one firefighter suffered injuries to his face during that cleanup operation and the woman living in the destroyed apartment unit suffered burns

and smoke inhalation. investigators believe a cigarette set off the fire. one person living in the apartment complex may have prevented the tragedy, though. jade hernandez will explain why in a live report coming up at 7 :30. just moments ago, we got new information on a homicide in r edwood city. officers found the victim's body lying in an ally on madison avenue last night -- alley on madison avenue last night. investigators say he was a hispanic male. police are looking for six suspects all believed in their teens. they believe this may be g ang- related. police are still searching for suspects in a drive-by shooting. three men were hurt. it happened yesterday morning near can vess and clay. the three men told police they had been followed for several blocks. all three suspects -- all three victims are expected to

survive. four people are in custody accused of robbing a walnut creek store. a witness reported three area going into the store near the broadway plaza. police say they stole several hand baggings and wallets worth about $9,000. officers were able to find the suspects. the chp's maximum e nforcement program ended at mit need with more people being arrested for dui this year compared to last year's thanksgiving holiday. as of yesterday, chp officers arrested more than 1400 people for driving under the influence. last year's total for the same period was around 1300 people. 249 arrests this year were here in the bay area. so far eight traffic deaths have been reported statewide. it's traffic we're gonna

the capital christmas tree has just arrived in washington, d.c. there is a live look there. this year's tree has traveled more than 4600 miles. it began in wyoming on n ovember 12th. an actual website has been created for the tree and it also has its own twitter account and facebook pages. 7:22. sanfrancisco's push for more composting seems to be a big success. city officials are crediting a year-old composting mall at

apartment buildings. "the san francisco kron nin kell cal "say 600 tons of compost and materials corrected every day and not taken to a junkyard. last year, 300 tons were c ollected on a daily basis. foster city could limit the number of dogs that can be brought to that city's dog park. the parks department says there have been at least two incidents since august. one involved a man witten -- bitten by his own dog as he t ried to stop a dog fight. another involved a physical altercation between a man and a woman. there would be a fine for anyone who breaks the three-dog limit. >> some folks that come here with more than three dogs and never take responsibility for the dog's, you -- for the dogs'

commutes start doing the same. it's about a ten-minute delay which all in all is not all that bad. but not much. you can see the ramp from 880 isn't too full once you get on the bridge. if is a decent drive into san francisco. let's go to the south bay where 280 is a little bit more crowded right through there coming up to highway 17. i've been looking here not many crashes here that we know of on 280 northbound. there is a stalled car, northbound 280. and that may be adding to the slowdown here. let's move out to livermore, 580 at greenville there is a crash there reported. 880 southbound is busy as you approach 82. you can see traffic is slow as it normally is coming up most of antioch westbound. let's go to steve. we have another cold start to this mon monday morning.

president obama has scheduled a news conference at 8:30 our time to comment the release of documents by w ikileaks. and secretary of state hillary clinton is scheduled to speak. her comments have been moved to 10:00. already the administration is ordering government agencies to immediately look at how they protect classified information. firefighters among the two people who suffered injuries in an overnight fire in san rafael. it started shortly after midnight at an apartment house on lincoln avenue.

one mayor -- one neighbor may have prevented the tragedy. >> reporter: good morning. we're live at the apartment building. the apartment at 1323 lincoln is a complete loss. two people were hurt. a firefighter and the only resident inside the one bedroom apartment. firefighters kept this to a o ne-alarm blaze and put out flames in about 15 minutes. there are a dozen or so apartments in this building and no other units were damaged. but residents were evacuated and allowed back in inside. sanrafael's battalion chief explained to us how a firefighter suffered a deep gash to his face. they were picking up afterwards and a piece of equipment slammed down and hit him in the face. >> reporter: the firefighter was release -- treated and

released from the hospital. the woman hurt suffered first and second-degree burns and smoke inhalation. the fire department says this fire was got intentionally set. the only person inside the apartment was a smoker. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, jade. it's now 7:31. a man is recovering from injuries after being shot in oakland last night. it happened around 7:20 on the 5800 block of international boulevard. oakland police say the victim was found suffering from a single gunshot wound and taken to a local hospital to t reatment. police are now looking for the treater and are hoping anyone with information about this incident will call them. this morning we're learning more about the fatal police shooting of a 60-year-old man in napa. it happened yesterday at a home on meek avenue in the city's alta heights neighborhood. family members called 911 t elling police the man was suicidal and making threats. officers then raced to the s

the street. authorities are expected to release more information later today. a search is underway for the driver who injured a s kateboarder near martinez. the accident happened around 3 :15 yesterday afternoon. a pickup truck an 18-year-old who suffered moderate injuries. the suspect vehicle is described as a red, 2002 chevy silverado. officers say the truck is d amaged on the front driver's side. anyone with information is asked to call the highway patrol. the man accused in a h it- and-run drive of a cyclist in san francisco will be back in court. joshua calder is accused of b eing drunk when he hit another individual behind. he arrested -- he fred but was arrested.

the former leader of your black muslim bakery was m otivated to plan a journalist's murder because he was desperate to save the bank from b ankruptcy. he's accused of murdering three oakland men in 2007, including chauncey bailey, the eddie -- editor of the paper. jury selection begins today. 7:34. sanfrancisco officials say the public art collection is suffering due to vandalism. officials say in the past, strand as would strike of two or three -- vandals would strike every two or three months. the city has 3500 pieces in its collection. the next time that cal football team plays a home game in berkeley, memorial stadium will have a new book -- a new look.

today the contractor will fence off the stadium and start participations on a 320 million renovation project. the university says it's being funded by sales and that no state money is being used. the final old game. next year the bears will play their home game at at&t park. the stanford cardinal football team is headed to a big bowl game. but the university's fan base could determine what invitation is receives. only one home game has been sold out this season. bowl game officials could take that into consideration. official official -- school officials say on average, fabs filled a smaller percent of the stands. >> stanford has only been successful the last few years.

it is 7:44. the two uc berkeley graduates still inprisonned in iran were allowed to make a rare phone call to their families over the thanksgiving holiday. this is the second thanksgiving shane bauer and josh fattal have spent in prison. we have cindy on the phone, the mother of shane bauer on the phone with us. thank you for joing us. >> thank you. >> i understand you smoke for about five minutes on saturday with your son and his friend. what did they have to say? >> well, shane called early in the morning. his main concern was his family, he asked right away how we were and how sis sisters were. it was -- how sisters were. he had no idea what was going on about the case. he was very frustrated. they are totally isolated from that. >> i understand sarah shourd, your son's fiancee was with you and got to speak to josh and shape.

how is she doing? >> she's doing okay. i mean, she's fighting very h ard, as you can imagine, for release of shane and also josh. he was actually at the -- she was actually at the fattal h ousehold and got to speak to josh for a second which i think was very good to hear their voice on the outside of prison. their trial has been rescheduled until february 6th. what are you feeling about this trial? is this going to win their freedom? >> we really don't have official verification of the trial date. but our bottom line is, we want them home. we want them released on a humanitarian basis. this is how it should happen. sarah's free. we want them free. really we would like them home for the holidays way before any trial. >> will sarah shourd go back to iran to stand trial with them? >> there's been no invitation

box, pharmacy stores in 14 nations. starbucks wants to end their relationship with kraft. kraft denies the charges and says the agreement bring in $ 500,000 annually. starbucks says it plans to end the partnership march 1st. whole foods is recalling seven kinds of cheese because of the risk of listeria. all of the cheeses are cheddar sold in the dairy sections of the store. they are wrapped in clear plastic and have a ticket on them. the cheeses are all part of a factory wide recall. whipped cream, usually does not sell well in liquor stores. but a new kind is flying off the shelves. it's alcohol infused whipped cream.

the search has resumed this morning for three missing boys from michigan. the five -- the 5, 7 and 9-year- old boys were last seen the day before their father t ried to commit suicide last week. the fbi, police and numerous volunteers have scoured field,

farmland and wooded areas near the ohio/michigan border. authorities say john schedule ten claim -- skelton claim he gave the boys to a relative. parents of sikh children in the bay area are starting a new campaign to combat ig gotti -- combat big getry in the bay a rea. a sikh cabdriver in west sacramento says he was brutally beaten because of his relidgen and turban. police found the 56-year-old man early yesterday morning.

he says he picked up four people in sacramento who led him to a dark neighborhood before robbing him and beating him. police say one attacker referred to him as al qaeda and t hreatened to kill him. the cab driver said he was able to escape when one of the other members in the party tried to stop the beating. investigators are looking for two men who tried to rob a bay point liquor store. one man pointed the -- pointed a gun at the clerk. the clerk fought back. and the two men left without any money. congress may take up the dream act during its lame-duck session. that's the legislation that would allow young people who came to this country illegally as children to be hoffered -- to be offered a path to c itizenship. nursing student steve lee will join a rally in san francisco
