anotheres another resident heard and saw. multiple shots were fired but not hit the intended target. the victim wasn't the only thing hit with gunfire a bullet pierced a window in the building next to where the shooting took place. a victim was taken to highland hospital. our witness says the victim was well enough to sit on a parked car until help arrived. this hand around 11:15. a woman heard arguing between two or more people and five or six shots rang out. a resident said the neighborhood belies any prig

prejudices. the thieves shot their victim over a cell phone. our information is not complete however, we have not been able to confirm the number of assailants involved. i will see if we can get details. looks like a shooting over a cell phone. thank you, craig. it is 7:02, pleasant hill police are searching for a man who pepper sprayed two radio shack employees during a rob rhode island happened before 9:00 last night. police say the suspect pretended to be a customer and asked to see merchandise. the suspect pepper sprayed the employee and took off running towards the door with the items. police say a second employee tried to stop the suspect but was also pepper sprayed. time now, 7:03, police are investigating the deadly shooting of a man in the city's

richmond district. the victim was found inside as apartment last night about 9:00. paramedics were called here but the victim died there at the scene. we don't know the victim's name, police will only say he is between 20 and 30 years old, so far no arrests have been made and no information about a possible suspect has been released. also new this morning, san francisco police want your help, they are trying to find a missing elderly man. his name is ja joe, he is 91 year-old old. he suffers from dementia and last seen yesterday. he is 5 feet tall. wearing a tan jacket and a tan hat. he only speaks canty knees. a young girl has been killed by a car. police say the girl and another

person were hit by the car around 5:30 yesterday evening, near cinder lane. authorities have not released anymore information. this morning the pipeline disaster in san bruno moves closer to the courtroom. an attorney for pge will meet with the attorneys representing the explosion victims for the first time. they will discuss the more than 35 lawsuits filed against pge. that september 9th explosion and fire killed 8 people and destroyed dozens of homes. we went back to the devastated san bruno neighborhood this morning. here is a look at what we saw. a man who grew up in the neighborhood set up this christmas tree on an empty lot. it's complete with solar powered lights. rob henceel said it's his way of getting past the pipeline tragedy and sending out holiday

message of hope. . released a few minutes ago, numbers show the housing market is gaining strength according to the national association of realtors. the pending sale of previously owned homes jumped unexpected 10.4% in october. that is well ahead of analysts expectations. for a gain of 3 to 5%. realtors say they are worried about the availability of credit. a new report this morning shows the sales of homes in foreclosure is down. they still made up one quarter of all u.s. home sales between july and september. to compare that foreclosures accounted for 1% of all housing sales during 2005, the peak of the housing boom. realty track says the freeze did not seem to effect sales of homes in that category. bart is doing something giving away thousands of free

gifts this morning. 120,000 bart tickets are handed out to bart riders trying tone courage everybody to ride bart when they do their holiday shopping. each is for a one way trip. the give away started at 6:00 this morning, it's going to continue until 9:00 a.m. in san san francisco. in oakland the free tickets will be handed out at bart's 12th street station and bart's berkley downtown station. bart says ridership during the thanksgiving period was up slightly this year. more than 62,000 rider took bart to san francisco international airport from last wednesday to this monday. that's slightly more than 1% increase over last year. 7:07. we want to check in with sal who is letting us know it's

reinhardt's impartiality because his wife is a outspoken opponent. she has taken part in legal proceedings against the ban on same sex marriage. if he rescueses himself another judge would be chosen at random and the hearing would be postponed probably. there is a new report that says 50,000 prison inmates from all over the country are claiming tax refunds this year. the report says none provided wage information to the irs. the refund claims top $130 million. this report doesn't say the claims are false, but does say the irs needs to investigate this. california's criminal justice system is facing a back up, the state supreme court says it's because a shortage of lawyer willing to take on post conviction challenges made by inmates on death row. there are 700 here in

know who posted the videos. a spokeswoman says youtube would reveal the identities of the person who posted the video if a judge orders them to do so. in a life or death situation a restaurant owner in tahoe says he was forced to take matters in to his own hands and shoot a big bear after it broke in to his restaurant and charged at him. bill hunter says it was a 500- pound bear that broke in to the restaurant four times in the same week. on one of the break ins the bear broke threw through a window and ate up two, 3-gallon tubs of ice cream. he tried yelling at the bear and tried to scare it away but he went to get his gun when the bear charged at him. >> the bear got really agitated, charged around the table, there shot him right here, he went towards the fireplace, across the 30, 35 feet, within a heartbeat.

welcome back. because of a san mateo house fire is being investigated and the crews rushed to a house on otae avenue at 7:00. firefighters say when they got, there flames were shooting out the back of the two story house. they were able to keep the fire from spreading and luckily, no one was hurt. we are getting new details about an attack that ended with a standoff at a motel in pet lieuma. 31-year-old christian valdez had a knife and followed a man outside of a bank on mcdowell victim. the victim was punched several times before a employee rushed out to help. the suspect ran to this motel room across the street, you can see police s.w.a.t. teams responded quickly and used a police dog to get him out. valdez is held on $40,000 bail. 7:23. the state supreme court rejected the appeal of a san francisco woman trying to have her murder conviction

scarves and coats because there is no heat. in an effort to trim costs, the oakland unified school district decided to turn the heat off over the thanksgiving holiday. the district controls the heat through a centrally operated system but the trouble is some of the sites have older equipment and that equipment just doesn't fire back up the way it used to. >> that is something we are analyzing right now. obviously the system is not working as it should. it needs revision. that's something we are discussing. over christmas we will handle it differently. we don't expect a repeat of this. >> reporter: after three days of cold classrooms, many parents are questioning the district's decision to turn it off in the first place if they knew the heating system had a history of problems. the district has apologized and the heat should be restored here at brick middle school by 11:00 this morning. time now, 7:35.

police in vellejo are searching for two men who attacked and robbed a elderly woman inside her home. the men knock odd didn't 74- year-old woman's door yesterday when she hoped the door they grabbed her by the groat and forced her inside. they stole the woman's purse and jewelry. the woman suffers from dementia, surprisingly she was not hurt. oakland police are offering a $30,000 reward to help them find two men wanted in connection to three rapes. these are sketches of the suspects police are looking for, they are described as african american men in their 20s, they robbed and sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman at gunpoint on market street last month. then police say they forced her to take them to her home where they robbed and raped her roommate. >> this is a very terrifying event that took place involving

robbed two out of state diamond dealers tuesday afternoon. the dealers had just left a store on first street they were getting in to the car when the robbers pulled up alongside them in a sedan and stole their diamonds. no one was hurt in this. the diamond dealers made several stops in the bay area to visit their clients. the central valley city is hoping to overcome christmas tree curse in time for the annual holiday parade tonight. the city tried and failed twice to get a christmas tree set up before the parade. first someone cut off the top ten feet while being transported from the sierra. a man offered to give a 60-foot tree but the branches fell off as it was being moved. the city is hoping someone will bring them a 30-foot tree before the parade starts tonight. sal, can you give the

good morning welcome back to mornings on 2 i'm tori campbell tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. it's thursday, december 2nd. we will begin now with a shooting, this involved a dispute over a cell phone. it happened last night in oakland not far from lake merit. kraig debro just talked to the police and back with us live from oakland with all the new details. good morning, craig. >> reporter: good morning dave. police are confirming a lot of the account we were reporting earlier. it happened at 15th and madison a block north of 14th street the main thoroughfare through downtown oakland. 11:15 the shots were fired. according to police this morning, this was over a cell phone. the victim has nonlife threatening injuries. police say they have a person of interest that they are talking to right now. the shooting that happened injured a person but the shots could have injured more than one person.

we are getting new details about an attack that ended with a standoff you are seeing here at a motel. 31-year-old christian valdez had a knife and followed the man outside of a bank. the victim was punched several times before employee came out to help out. the suspect ran to this motel room across the street. the s.w.a.t. team quickly surrounded the motel room and used a police dog to get him out. valdez is held on $20,000 bail. three teenage boys are accused of killing two pet chickens at an elementary school in concord. the chick ps were found strangled on the el monte el mary school campus, they arrested two 15 year-old boys and 1, 14 year old yesterday. all three were booked for animal cruelty and burglary and released to their parents. tahoe restaurant owner says he was forced to take matters

we lost you momentarily. we had a little technical glitch. school started five minutes ago, we spoke to a teacher that said it's colder in sides than it is on the sidewalk. about a half an hour ago we did see a worker from the oakland unied school district pulled up and started hauling the tools to begin repair work on the heater. students have been bundling up in scarves, gloves and coats for three days. district decided to turn off the heat during the thanksgiving break in an effort to save money. it's a decision that back fired however. angering many parents. >> i was very upset. i told her my tax dollars pays for her to have heat. she should have heat if she is cold. >> reporter: was it hard to concentrate. >> yes. she is sluggish now. i'm hoping that with her gloves and hat, she will be a little better today. >> reporter: the heat is controlled by the district

vellejo police are searching for two men who attacked and robbed an elderly woman inside her own home. they knocked on the woman's door yesterday morning when she opened it they grabbed her by the throat and forced her inside. one man held her down while the other ransacked the house. hey stole the woman's purse and jewelry. the woman suffers from dementia. amazingly though she was not hurt. a $30,000 reward is offered this morning by oakland police to help them find two men wanted in connection with three rapes. take a look at the police sketches based on the victims descriptions. they are look for two african american men in their 20s. they robbed and sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman at gun point, on market street last month. then police say they forced her to take them to her home where they robbed and raped her roommates. >> this is a very terrifying

with candidates including state senator ye and dusty. the high speed rail authority may hear pretty loud complaints today during a big meeting about the first phase of the project. engineers recommending that the first 65 miles section be built in the central valley between boarden through fresno to corcoran. critics call it a train to nowhere going from a little known town to a federal prison. the rail authority is under a lot of pressure they got a deadline to pick a route by the end of the year or they will lose federal funding. supporter says the central valy plan makes sense due to disputes over track placement near san francisco and los angeles. nouses of bay bridge commuters were stuck in traffic for hours during that standsoff last month on the bay bridge. their frustration didn't end when the police arrested the man responsible for it.

claudine wong is here now getting reaction from some of the commuters about what we are finding out about this. >> reporter: good morning. that morning was a headache for commuters . it happened around this time of day, they were coming on the bridge trying to get across and service it was shut down. that's what is happening and it is coming in the form of a ticket in their mailbox. these are the pictures from back on november 11th when that morning commute was basically shutdown after a man stopped his car on the bridge and held police at bay for hours. the bridge because it was shut down meant that obviously no one could get on and the commuters had to be turned around. technology didn't take in to account what was happening that day. as far as fast track was concerned those drivers were trying to get out of paying their tolls. as an automatic kind of function the folks are getting the tickets in the mail.
