♪ well, good morning to you. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm pam cook. tori campbell has the day off. steve paulson has the day off. but mark tamayo is in. how's the weather? >> still the active weather and that potent frontal system moving across the bay area early this morning. we still have some lingering rain showers out there. there's main activity moving out to the east and that trend will continue. here's our forecast model at 7:00 this morning. still showing you lingering

rain showers. throughout the course of the d ay, there is not a lot to show you. it looks like a break d eveloping. i am tracking a forecast that will impact your weekend. i will have more on that. sal has traffic. >> good morning, mark. that's northbound 280 on the right. you can see no major problems there. let's take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. that traffic is moving pretty well getting up to the top s tory. once i -- get up to the toll plaza. back to the desk. as sal and mark made so clearly, a powerful storm b attered the bay area overnight. ktvu claudine wong is on storm watch this morning. she's out there. in fact, you're in marin county. what is it like out there? >> reporter: well, the rain continues to fall. it's a very light rain. it's been on and off with out

heavy it's gotten. behind me, 101 if you are headed out here and this is part of your commute, things are looking pretty good. no problems out here to report. traffic moving along just fine. leave yourself extra time. we came out here to shoreline drive. this is just off the 101 because this is an area that does generally flood. you see the caltrans signs out here. i don't think i moved out here for the last few days because this is the area that floods. so because of the steady rain, because of the high tide, this certainly is an area to keep an eye out for. things are looking okay on the roadways. give yourself extra time. back to you. >> thank you. right now mudslides are a major problem for residents in orange county down in southern california. mudslides were triggered by a

powerful new storm moving into the area this morning. in fact, it's blocking access to some houses and residents there are being asked to get out. to get out. evacuation orders are in place. authorities are going door to door telling residents to evacuate as soon as possible. those who don't are being told to sign a waiver releasing the county of liability. a big concern is flash flooding and mud slides and those areas burned by summer wildfires. governor schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in the a rea. back here in the bay area -- back here in the area, some beaches are closed. jade hernandez has more. >> reporter: good morning. you can a nice trail along the water here. today's warn something to stay out of the water until further

notice. this is a popular place. walkers and swimmers. but today they are being add v ied to stay out -- advised to stay out of the water. and he's doing his best to keep nike, his golden retriever, out of harm's way. >> yes, i would. yes. i usually walk my dog every day and let him go through the w ater. >> reporter: he says his dog nike loves the water, so he will had do his best and thanked us for letting him know about the warning. officials have posted signs at the four beaches. the health department has closed linda mar and rockaway beach and lakeshore park and aquatic park, both beaches in san mateo's marina lagoon. the county tests for chloroform bacteria once a week. according to the state's r esources water control board, heavy rain sent thousands of

sewer water overflowing into the streets and creeks this morning. these types of closures can be typical this time of year and usually happen a couple of t imes. posted signs warn any one of a problem. the beaches should be closed until further notice. reporting live in san mateo, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, jade. well, ktvu.com also has tools to track the storm as well as information on where to get free sandbags. just look for the storm watch section right on the front page. 7:06. less than half an hour ago, it became official. president obama signed a law repealing the military's controversial don't ask, don't tell policy. among the attendees at this very special signing ceremony were house speaker, nancy pelosi, senior military officials and various members of congress.

the law will allow openly gay military officials to serve in the armed forces. president obama says he's proud to sign the bill, as he's doing right there, and he says it will strengthen national security. ktvu's alison burns will have much more on today's signing in a live report. that's coming to you in less than ten minutes. an oakland man is in the hospital right now after being pulled beneath a train near jack london square. it happened at about 3:40 this morning. we have video of the scene. the man near the wheelchair somehow became pinned. firefighters were able to pull the man out using the jaws of life. they say he was unconscious a nd -- he was conscious, that i s, and talking during the rescue. we don't have an update right now on his condition. again, he's in the hospital and the train has since been moved. one lane is still closed on 101 northbound in santa rosa right now after a pedestrian was hit and killed overnight. it happened around 1:30 this

morning just north of the mendocino avenue overpass. the chp says the victim was in the right lane but that it is still unclear why that person was on the freeway. chp says the right lane northbound will remain closed until about 8:00 this morning to complete the investigation. the name of the victim has not yet been released. time now, 7:07. let's go to sal. those wet roads, a lot of crash, fender-benders, it's been quite an interesting morning. >> yeah. we've also been work ong trying to get information on -- working on trying to get some information from b.a.r.t. last time we spoke with them, they had some equipment problems on the trains from d ublin/pleasanton to daly city. if you are a smart rider, you're gonna give yourself extra time anyway. although there are not major delay, that's for sure. but if you keep to the schedule you might be a little off this morning. let's take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza.

that traffic looks okay. the roads have been nice and quiet for the last two minutes which leads me to believe t hat -- well, maybe we'll be lucky and stay this way for a while. and look at the 880 commute. that traffic looks okay. no major problems. it looks like the rain has s topped. this is 280 in the south bay. that traffic is moving along relatively well getting up to highway 17. so cross your fingers. so far right now on the roads, anyway, it doesn't look that b ad. filling in for steve today, is mark tamayo. >> we're taking a live look outside over san francisco. kind of a neat scene. you can see the high clouds in the upper overcast and the lower overcast. this will be the primary c oncern, we we have a dry weather pattern developing but with the rain storms moving out of town, we're expectthing fog. you can psyop the radar the bulk of the action, had quite an active morning between about 1:00 and 2:00 this morning,

bulk of the action heading to the north and east but we still have a little bit of some lingering cells right around parts of the bay. but the overall trend will continue. so the plan for today is this across the bay area -- we're expecting the morning showers out there but as we head into the afternoon hours, a mixture of clouds and sun. thursday and try we've been t alking about the dry weather pattern. satellite and radar, you with h e -- you can see the main focus of the activity heading out to the east and also down towards central and southern california as well. here is the plan for thursday and friday. high pressure returns. the biggest trouble had will be some fog, especially for the inland valleys but a dry pattern with a sun! cloud mix. the next storm is set to move in this weekend, especially saturday afternoon for christmas day. we could be talking about more rain chances for sunday as well. at 7:00, showing you still some

we have clouds, a few l ingering showers for this morning. there's changes for this afternoon. ly have more on that coming up. as we told you a couple of minutes ago, president obama just signed the landmark mark law repealing the don't ask, don't tell policy. this now allows openly gay men and women to served in the -- to serve in the armed forces.

alison burns is live with more on the signing ceremony. alison? >> reporter: good morning to y ou, dave. let's get right to a look inside the big auditorium at the interior department. more than 500 people mooked the room to watch and celebrate as president obama moved to repeal the 17-year-old policy against gays serving openly in the military. now, the woman in the brown suit is zoewy dunning, a former navy commander from san francisco, who was discharged for being a lesbian and then being r einstated after fighting it in court. >> your country needs you, your country honors you and we are welcome you. >> reporter: now , zoey has been watching this.

this will stay in effect for the next 60 days until the pentagon figures out how to undo it. back to you. >> thank you, alison. 7:15. the u.s. senate is expected to take a crucial vote on the healthcare that would benefit the first responders to the 9/11 attacks. the legislation would provide nearly $6 billion to the rescue workers after becoming ill from the toxins. it needs 60 votes to move forward. but there's some concern that lawmakers who oppose the measure may try to stall a final vote. the federal government is now joining the investigation into a tragic case of school bullying here in california. department of education investigators want to know if kern county school district officials could have prevented a gay student's suicide last september. family members say the death of 13-year-old seth walsh was the direct result of a -- of vicious schoolyard bullying.

they say other students were constantly picking on him for his mannerisms and style of dress. san jose city manager is not commenting on a published report that she's ready to fire a veteran police officer. officer kenneth siegel is accused of using excessive force during a secretly- videotaped arrest of a vietnamese college student last year. "the mercury news" reports that the city manager wants to fire him for hitting the 20-year-old more nan a dozen times with his baton. 7:17. well, oakland city council wants more information before they decide whether to build a new ballpark for the oakland as. the city council approves $ 750,000 to pay for an environmental impact report on a possible stadium site. now, this proposed complex would include office space and housing along with the baseball only stadium. now, the city of oakland is looking at a location between the nimitz freeway and the embarcadero right next to the

lake merritt channel. oakland's city attorney plans to lawsuits against hotels believed to be used for prostitution. the legal action is part of a broader effort by alameda county to fight sexual exploitation of children. we won't find out the names of the hotels until later this morning but they say there's one particular interest in a business where child prostitution and other criminal activity may be taking place. a mother of northern california wants an apology from the makers of barbie. she says she and her 10-year- old daughter were trying to upload video on the barbie video girl site. she said when she tried it, though was led to this -- a graphic porn site. she said she called mattel and told them about it and now has a warning for other parents. >> make sure your parental controls are on. even if they are in a safe

environment, you thing it's a disney channel. any hacker can get in. >> well, mattel, the makers of barbie, released a statement apologizing for the incident s aying the website in question is managed by a third party but says they are investigating the matter. the blacks on hit the m ilestone. the blackops hit the milestone. acti-vision is already s uing. now it is adding electronic a rts. they claim the new company f ounded by the executives was lured into an exclusive distribution deal with ea after

they left avti-vision. a new york college professor claims it's possible, believe it or not, to find food that's good for you to eat on airlines and that some airlines are better at it than others. he puts united at the top of the list, giving it out of five stars. >> he says jetblue airways comes in number two, with american airlines coming in third place. u.s. airways received the lowest score, less than two cars, for, according to him, poor y oreall -- overall choices. find out how the rain is affecting people who are not used to so much water.

we want to take you to arizona this morning where voluntary evacuations are taking place. four homes in arizona were w ashed away. dozens of others still at risk. now, the red cross has set up an evacuation center along the arizona border for people who want to leave their homes. there are also concerns about massive power outages throughout that area.

7:23. in modesto, a salvation army volunteer tried to stop a thief from stealing his kettle, well, this morning he's recovering from bumps and breezes. he was in front of the rayly's on tully road on sunday. he says one of four men in a toyota celica snatched the kettle and jumped in the car. they say the volunteer dove through the passenger window t rying to get the kettle back and they dragged him across the parking lot. >> i worked hard for that money. i wasn't going to let them get if and so that's why i went after him. >> well, he eventually let go of the kettle. the location can generate up to $00 a day in salvation army donations. a good sparery ton, we can tell you -- a good samaritan, we can tell you, dropped off a $500 check to help cover the loss. let's go back to sal.

>> pam and dave, it's been wet out there. it hasn't been a typical c ommute. we've had some crashes. let's go outside and take a look at interstate 880. north and southbound. you can see traffic is moving along pretty well with no major delays. the commute is not bad if you are driving southbound to hayward. it still is a commute. a lot of people remind me, i'm still working, but just enough people are not and some schools are already out for the christmas holiday. traffic is light. there's been standing water. if this were a normal commute day with even this much of wet weather, we would have a terrible commute. fortunately, it's not. if you are driving in san francisco, it looks like the rain has stopped. northbound 101 coming up on the 80 split there on the left, you can see. traffic is busy, but it looks good. let's go to mark. >> good morning, sal. we have the -- we had the heavy

rain move across the bay area this morning. still a few lingering showers but the activity will move out to the east. you can see our live camera in san jose, currently, mostly cloudy skies and a temperature of 52 degrees. here we go with some of the numbers, mainly the in the lower 50s. we're not gonna warm up too much this afternoon. in fact, the warmest locations only in the mid- to upper 50s. you can pick out on the radar, all of the activity that moved into the region overnight. you can see all of the action heading out to the north and the east. still a few lingering showers out there but nothing too significant but still enough to wet the roadways. as far as the significant rainfall heading out to the sierra in the form of snow and a winter weather advisory, snow levels around 4500 to 5,000 f eet. for this morning, clouds and showers, temperatures right around 50 degrees. the chance of a shower by 12 o :00 and then by 3:00, a s un/cloud mix and temperatures

we are definitely on storm watch, heavy rain pounded the bay area all night. it's still raining in a lot of bay areas right friday -- right now. luckily, we have mark tamayo here. how are we looking now? >> well, dave this storm mover is quick. it's now moving out of town but we still have a few lingererring rain showers out there. as far as totals ever the last 24 hours, pretty -- over the last 24 hours, pretty much -- >> here's the plan for today,

as you can see, throughout the day, we have lingering showers this morning. a cloud/sun mix into the afternoon. dry for thursday and friday. then the weekend we're talking about some more rain. there you can pick out the action moving out to the north and east. but still a few lingering rain showers out there. as far as the forecast we can tell you this. for this morning, still the possibility of lingering showers but not a lot to show you this evening and the afternoon. coming up i'll have the timing of the next storm offshore. >> thank you, mark. in sonoma county. crews will be searching for more leaks around a damaged levee they are even sandbagging. that's after yesterday's emergency repair to the levee. the levee protects wetland area with sensitive wildlife habitat but it had a hole in it, made worse by all of the rain and tides there.

crews are bracing for more n eeded repairs, if need be, in the coming days. >> they are all ready to go. if the crews have to go, we're ready to go. >> don't like giving you your holiday? >> no, this is our job. >> now, the levees date back 50 years to grow hay. there is a lot of bay should which -- mud there which can crumble. a powerful rain storm is, once again, dumping on southern california and it's making a mess of things in orange county right now. we're gonna show you new video from downtown laguna beach. take a look at that. the roadway is under water. that doesn't usually happen in that area. authorities have been forced to close down several street the there because of heavy flooding from days of unrelenting rain. in other parts of orange county, mud slides are blocking roads and access to homes, at least six people had to be rescued from their cars after they drove into flooded roads. also, take a look at this

video, outside las vegas, officers went door to door in mesquite, nevada yesterday, encouraging people too evacuate. there is a -- to evacuate. there is a flash flood warning in effect for clark county. an emergency has been declared. and the overnight rain here in the bay area could mean more delays at sfo. now, you should call your airline ahead before heading to the airport this morning. we did take this video at sfo just a short time ago, pretty clouded. once again and it's a good bet that flight delays will begin soon, possibly the next hour. our wet weather has been causing delays all week. of course, wet weather across the country but not every holiday travel -- every holiday. travelers are worried. >> i have time. i'm on vacation. so if it gets delayed, that's fine. >> the stormy weather in other parts of the country also making a bad travel situation even worse. we're gonna update this situation coming up at 8:00. you can also get more information on elays any time of day by going

to ktvu.com. a bird-watcher was out and found a body near doolittle drive and harbor bay parkway yesterday afternoon. police say this unidentified woman was only partially c lothed. she had been shot several times. her throat had been cut. a $10,000 reward is being o ffered to help solve this case. six defendants will head back to court next month to be formally charged in the richmond gang rape case. yesterday, a judge ruled there is enough evidence to put those six suspects on trial. however, the same judge d ismissed all charges against the senseth and youngest -- seventh and youngest defendant. the young men are accused of gang-raping a young girl after

a homecoming dance last year. propers say the victim was repeatedly kicked, pickup offed and sexually assaulted. home sales rose last month. the national association of realtors show sales rose 5.6% in november to a seasonally a djusted annual rate of 4.68 million homes. sales still down about 28% below last year's level and also below sales in june when the home b uyer tax credit was still available. the median price edged up about half a percent nationwide. this is the season for giving and that's why a toy giveaway is happening right now in the east bay. despite all of the help there's still a lot of people who need help. kraig debro joins us live. he's the richmond ymca with all of the details. kraig, it's noisy. i see a lot of people but i see a lot of people smiling, too. >> they are trying to get toys

and food but some of them are trying to get on tv. this is the coronado ymca. hook at the line of people for the toy giveaway. some people coming as early as 5:30. that was the person at the front of the line, about 40 people back. they have the intersection blocked off because the way they are gonna do it is extend the lines out into the street and bring people in to get their t oys and food. i talked to a woman who said she's a homemaker. she said words barely describe the emotion she feels being able to get one thing -- one thing every kid wants -- a present for christmas. >> reporter: you happy? >> yes. >> reporter: it means that much to you? >> yeah. >> i came last year and they really give you nice gifts and extra food for the holidays. >> reporter: and that really helped you out? >> yes. you have chicken for a long t

[ laughter ] >> reporter: some say the economy is getting better. some say it's not. some people who donated bikes and toys last year are in this line this year. they expect 1700 families will get something they need to have a traditional holiday. families who register will get toys for their kids, a bag of groceries and frozen food for the freezer. the man who started this program two decades ago says he knows firsthand what it means to get that bag of groceries. >> theres with a time when our family was in need and without saying anything, somebody left toys and food on our front door. when i got hired with the fire department, i said lord what am i supposed to do? give me something to give back. he put this in my lap. >> reporter: i've seen t-shirts from other fire departments and other police departments from west county.

this toy giveaway is benefiting the families, part of contra costa county, a county that's been hard hit by unemployment. and the loss of jobs. and you can tell by the u mbrellas if you look at the street here, you look at main street, which is the cross street of south 20th, you can tell by the umbrellas just how far this line goes. like he said, like rod wood s aid, 1700 families. but he also told me that they have 500 more families who still want to get on the list and get in here and get some groceries. when we come back from my next report, you will see pictures of inside. because when i come back, people will be in there and the children will be getting toys. we look forward to that. >> it sounds like it's not too late to help, then? >> reporter: no. they are not rejecting any food or anything you want to donate. >> okay. thank you, kraig. >> 500 people still waiting. my gosh. let's check in with sal for

traffic because the roads have definitely been a little challenging in some parts of t he -- in some parts of the bay area. watch out for the ramp to be partially ramp -- blocked. a vehicle hit the center divider there. southbound 808 at high street there is a crash. now, look over on the right. you can see that northbound 880 traffic is aeffected because they are slowing down to look at the crash which is in the other direction. and people tend to be curious -- someone hit the center divider. someone hit something. they ran out of controls. it's a two-car accident there. this morning's drive at the bay bridge is light. westbound traffic looks good coming in to san francisco. it's 7:39. let's go to mark. good morning, sal. we still have lingering clouds

storm r epresenting -- developing in the pacific. rain develops saturday, especially for the afternoon hours. we could still be tracking some rain clouds for the second half of the weekend as well. this morning, still some l ingering activity out there. you will notice a -- there is still the possibility of a popup shower. but nothing too extreme at 6:00 and then by 10:00 and 11:00, probably just a few lingering clouds. we still have this -- a winter weather advisory on the west slopes of the sierra. snowfall around 5 to 10 inches. snow levels coming down to 4 500 feet. back here in the bay area for today, pretty much right now, we do have the clouds, still some lingering showers and then into the afternoon hours at 12:00, the chance of a shower, 53 degrees. a sun/cloud mix. temperatures around 53 to 56. not a big change from the current levels. the look ahead to your five-day forecast finally a break in the action for thursday and friday

[ laughter ] >> thank you, brian. our time is now, 7:45. well, in just a couple of hours right now, san mateo assemblyman jerry hill about will announce a proposed bill, one designed to crackdown on underaged drinking on party buses. this is in response to the february death of 19-year-old brett studebaker. he was killed after dranking for hours on a party bus. the bill would require bus drivers to check if their passengers are over the age of 21. violators face fines of $2,000. we'll let you hear from a ssemblyman hill and brett's mother coming up in our next hour. a memorial will be held tonight for a san francisco police officer killed in the line of duty four years ago.

28-year-old brian tavare was shot by a suspect wanted on a felony warrant. officers were chasing the man on foot when he broke into a nearby garage. as officers moved to arrest him. he opened fire. tonight's memorial begin at 8:00 at the taralave police department. oakland police are giving us more information about monday's deadly officer- involved s hooting. officers say they were forced to shoot after edwards pointed a gun at them. they also say edwards was a member of a violent street gang. >> we're trying to protect the community. we did everything we could to stop these individuals from going out and ill canning some innocent people -- going out and killing some innocent people. >> edwards was among four people in the car. police arrested one man but two

others managed to escape. they are still out there on the loose. the state is hoping a new reward will help solve the k illing of a vallejo teenager. they now offering $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of ivan o rozco's killer. he was shot during a robbery in november of last year. police say he died trying to protect his girlfriend. an east bay couple is asking for help after someone shot their dog in the head with a pellet gun. the dog escaped when a contractor forgot to close the door. the dog was found on the side of the road the next day by police. >> i don't understand how they could do that to an animal. >> now, vets say it appears kevin will recover and the search is on for the other dog

>> we have trouble on the nimitz freeway in oakland. 880 southbound at high street. there is a crash. it's blocking two lanes. they are moving it now but the traffic is slow not only southbound but on the right s ide. you see northbound traffic g etting a good look at the crash and slowing down past the scene. there are no imagine -- the bridge delay, the bridge advisory has been cancelled but it still may be gusty opt advisory but the good news, they have just cancelled that alert. heavy rain did pound the bay area overnight and it created treacherous driving conditions. the chp reports a large number of fender-benders and spinouts during that rain storm. this is some overnight video from marin county. there was the golden gate bridge on the freeway. the heavy rain should let up for a while but another

powerful storm is due to hit the bay area christmas day. the situation is even worse in southern california. right now, evacuation orders are in place -- are in place in los angeles county because of the rain pouring in. authorities have been going from door to door telling people to evacuate certain neighborhoods. those who refuse to leave have to sign a waiver releasing the county from liability. the main concern is flash f looding and mudslides, particularly in regions that were burned by those summer wildfires. small irmudslides are -- smaller mudslides are blocking some homes and people are being asked to leave. rain is also causing four san mateo county beaches to close. ktvu's jade hernandez is joining us live with all of the details. jade, you are right there, what's happening? >> that's right. we're live at lakeshore park

may not have been an accident. ktvu's claudine wong is there in santa rosa with the detail. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. yes, this is still a developing story right now as they try to figure out what exactly happened here on highway 101. let me show you the scene behind me. that's santa rosa police heading up to this investigation. we're northbound on 101 south of the gun river road exit. police say they will be out here for at least another half hour while this investigation continues. chp said this started jew before 2:00 this northerning when a driver called in to say that someone had been hit on the r oad. they came out here thinking this was a pedestrian that had been hit on the freeway. they started treating it as a collision accident and then during their investigation, they say they saw signs of a h omicide. that changed the situation very dramatically. they called the santa rosa police department and are out there heading up this investigation that's turned into a homicide investigation.

two fireghters have died after being trapped by a collapsed wall inside an abandoned b uilding. we're taking a look at the scene right now. firefighters searched through the rubble for more than an hour to pull out four men who were trapped. we're told that 16 firefighters have been injured, six are in critical condition. this tragedy comes on the 1 00- year anniversary of the biggest fire disaster ever in chicago, where 21 firefighters died in that fire. 8:22. sanfrancisco police officers will get special training this week, about a new law that bans people from sitting on s idewalks. it's the sit/lie law. it went into effect last week. police officers will have an hour of training and they will be watching a video. police will be holding a series of community meetings about t his. enforcement will probably begin in february. now, the law applies to sidewalks in commercial d istricts during the daytime. well, in modesto, a salvation army bell ringer who

traffic is restricted on the 101 in santa rosa after a body was discovered. it happened around 1:30 this morning just over the mendocino overpass. now but we're hearing this incident may not have been an accident. claudine wong is there and has the details. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, yes. the coroner has just taken away the victim from the scene along highway 101. you know, as you said, this started as an investigation accident just before 2::00 this morning, the chp got a call from the driver passing by. at that point they believe the pedestrian was hit on the r oadway. the chp came out here to start a collision investigation. but they took a closer look at

the victim and ream identified this was a homicide they were dealing with. evidence of a homicide had them calling santa rosa police. you see santa rosa police out here beginning to take down the crime scene that's been in place for hours along this highway. we don't know exactly what happened. santarosa police at this point not saying anything. say they -- they say they are still trying to do notifications about the victim and what happened. in the meantime how far, we look like we're on the cusp of g etting this roadway back home. if you can pan down you will see there's only two lanes open for traffic. caltrans has their vehicles p arked here to make sure this is safely shut down and the crime scene investigation van is out here for santa rosa police. they said they wanted to get this open very soon but the question remains, what happened to this victim? we just don't know the accidents but we're staying on

a bird-watcher found the body near doolittle drive yesterday afternoon. police say the unidentified woman was only partially c lothed. she had been shot several times and her throat was slit. a $10,000 reward is weeing o ffered in this case. six defendants who will head back to north next month to be charged in the richmond gang case. yesterday, a judge ruled there is enough evidence to put those suspects on trial. the same judge did dismiss all charges against the 7th and youngest left -- defendant, at least for now. >> our next step is to review and determine what charges. we may file an information with fewer charges that they were held to answer on or we may add charges. >> the men are accused of the gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl after a homecoming dance last year. prosecutors say the victim was

let's bring you up to date on some of the top stories we're following for you right now, the chp trying to reopen the lanes in santa rosa. they are wrapping up their investigation of a possible homicide along the roadway. a body was found overnight. the investigators soon realized it was no accident. they are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. the stormy weather is directly blamed for the closing of four beaches in san mateo county. two beaches are in san mateo, the two others are in pacifica.

the city council voted to send a letter to the county about concerns they have about the plant. neighbors worry the plant on steve beson is releasing harmful amounts of mer rue -- mercury. they say the plant does not belong in an area where there's homes, schools and parks. last night, opponents wanted a draft issued. the supervisor also have the final say on the matter. plans to issue licenses and tax is on hold, at least until february. oakland city council voted last night to suspend licensing and regulating, industrial size cannabis growing businesses in the city of oakland. applicants have already asked for a permit will be notified. the council will also consider changing the cultivation ordinance after the city
