problem of the ruptured line. that's what's happening here. basically these crews are now charged with building a new temporary pipeline where the structure's located so they can get the sewage. the rupture is located along the creek. discovered last friday when sewage started coming out of manholes. large amounts of construction debris have been shoved down the manholes. when it burst more than 800,000 gallons of sewage came rushing out. since then they've been trying to slow the flow down by lowering the pressure. so remember that video that we showed you earlier this morning, that's where there's one temporary pine line one diversion area already been set up. there's another one on college avenue in kentfield. at this hour crews are still working on this third and final diversion area near marin general hospital. we're being told that work will be done over the next four hours or so. even though this diversion work has been underway for the last several days, the construction site that we're at now this morning actually has been here for the last several weeks.
6:35 am
that's because there was already an emergency replacement project ongoing in this area to replace pipeline because of the materials that pipeline was made on. again, they don't believe the disrupture is because of that material. but because of all this debris that was shoved down the manholes. again, you're taking a live look at what's been coming and what will be a busy area this morning as crews lay this pipeline. f.b.i. and regulatory agencies are all being brought in to this problem because they think it's some kind of maybe even environmental terrorism. but, again, the focus right now at this hour is getting this problem fixed, getting the sewage taken care of. after that they will worry about figuring out how all this happened. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. the man accused of fatally beating a man is scheduled to be back in a san mateo county court this morning. today's hearing will discuss the competency of the 22-year- old tyler hutchinson. he's charged with murder in the 2009 death of the 88-year-old.
