yet unidentitied object in the canal. obviously as you can see from news chopper 2 this difficult search is now more difficult now that the sun has set. we are here at the canal near interstate 5 a few miles from patterson. the sheriff's team on a tip came out to this location to start their search in the canal. they found one object first early this afternoon which turned out to be a part of the canal structure itself. then what you should be able to see -- they located a car submerged in the canal. they use aid tow truck after dive teams went in and then towed the car out of the canal on to the bank. that car turned out to be a stolen vehicle out of patter southern unrelated to the kidnapping of the -- the kidnapping of the 4-year-old. all of this -- all of this

search is taking place because a witness spotted a car matching the one in the alleged kidnapping last night -- that witness spotted that car drive into the canal. if you take a look at this surveillance video taken before the kidnapping this is the car police have been looking for. it's a toyota corolla. it was scene driving into the canal according to the witness. the 4-year-old was kidnapped 45 minutes before that witness account. he had been ripped from his grandmother's arms at their home in patterson. the suspect is the estranged boyfriend of the boy's mother. his name is jose rodriguez. the family said he visited several times before grabbing the child. the witness that the sheriff's department said is credible didn't report seeing the car into the afternoon.

>> he waited to tell us, he waited to come forward because he was afraid, he wasn't sure what to do. he spoke with his son today and his son came to the patterson police services sabotages to report it. >> reporter: it's a lot of information to go through as far as what they found in this canal. three objects, the first was part of the canal, the sect unrelated stolen car, and now the team has found a third object, not known if it's a car at this point. they will continue investigating that object. they will try to get down there to that rough cold water and attach something to that object if they can identity it as a car and tow it out. if they are unable to do that or if they disregard this particular object they will likely finish their search tonight and resume searching another area beginning tomorrow

morning. ken pritchett channel 2news. >> federal agents swarmed a small east bay christian school and the luxury home of its founder. agents raided tri valley university and the home of its president. she lives in the gated community of ruby hill in pleasanton. agents would only say today's action is related to an ongoing criminal investigation. the california bureau of consumer affairs said the school may no longer operate because claims it made in its application could not be verified. >> the highway patrol investigating what caused dump truck to malfunction sending it's container into an overpass. the dumpster couldn't clear the 14-foot 9-inch clearance for the connector. the chp said the lift was somehow raised while driving. all of this happened about 8:50 this admonish morning. video shows the back up which i can see there.

. this is a live look in patterson. we have been monitoring the area all afternoon and evening as dive crews went in to the water there and brought up an old car. investigators say the car is not the one related to a missing 4-year-old boy. they now have located another object and aren't say what it is or if it's connected to the
