cardenas was snatched from his grandmother's arms there are candles from a vigil. and there's a tent for people who are helping search for the little boy. >> i just get nervous. >> reporter: the mother of jose rodriguez says he's worried for her son and the little boy. >> just bring the baby back home. that's all we want, and you to come back so nothing can get out of hand and everything will be okay. it'll be blind you. >> reporter: the mother of the boy continues to hold out hope for juliani. >> somebody is hiding him out, they need to be looking in the street, they need to be looking in the alleys and all these towns around here. >> reporter: after a day off the stanislaus searchers will continue searching a canal. >> whether the tracks were made by our suspect vehicle or

another vehicle we still have not located that vehicle. >> reporter: here in patterson, a growing community of just over 21,000 the boy's disappearance is the talk of the town. residents have been passing out fliers. >> everyone is talking about it and just trying to keep your eyes and ears open to try to bring him home. >> we're quick to get together in community to find out how we can help. >> the fliers, i mean just keeping their eyes out, you know. that's really big. >> reporter: juliani's mother tells us she's planning a candlelight vigil for tomorrow morning. rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. and the search into the shooting of an oakland police officer is continuing tonight. according to police, two officers patrolling the area saw 20-year-old brown and a woman sitting in a car then went to investigate.

turns out the car was stolen. brown attacked one of the officers prompting the other ones to shoot. the woman in the car was not injured. police arrested her later on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property. two teenagers today pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the killing of 16-year-old gene brisby. the student was shot january 10th outside his family's home in richmond. authorities say 16-year-old franklin fired the fatal shot. he will be tried as an adult. a motive has not yet been released. >> that was the scene as fire crews raced from house to house in ohio about 20 miles outside of cleveland. the built up pressure caused a pipeline to explode blowing up

a house. flames broke out in a dozen more homes and apartments. and dozens of people reported an odor of gas. >> seems like there's quite a bit of fires exploding. >> many residents were evacuated while others were told to shut off their gas lines and stay indoors. all the fires are out or under control at this point. crews will stay in the areaover night to watch out for flair ups. ktvu's tom vacar is live in bruno. and that's where a analyst had a scary evaluation there. >> reporter: uc berkeley engineer -- he's a renowned

analyst who has worked on everything from the new orleans levee failures to the bp oil spill. bea specifically referring to the 60-year-old welds that he says made the pipe wells a ticking pipe bomb. >> the people who made these welds knew the welds weren't good at the time they made them. >> reporter: this is what a weld should look like when two pieces are fused into one. but these are the type of wells that investigators found. incomplete, two shallow and leaving gaps. and in some cases, welds are made on only one side leaving the her side unsealed. even under normal operating pressures just under 400 pounds per square inch. >> if that pipeline didn't have

today the white house unveiled about 50 new initiatives to support military families. they include more counseling to prevent suicides, increased education grants and increased child care assistance. president obama says the measures represent support for the troops. >> we want the troops to know while you're out there taking care of the families we love, we'll be here taking care of the families you love. and the data out today just confirmed withdraws discovered at the pump. the aaa fuel gauge reports the average price of regular gas in the u.s. today is $3.80 that's up 8-cents from one month ago.

here in california gas is $3.36. specifically here in the bay area the average price of gas is coming in at $3.38. in san francisco, googles outgoing ceo is getting $100 million in stock. stocks made solid gains today with the dow nearing the 12,000 mark. the dow was up 108 points to close at 11,980. the last time it hit 12,000 was back in june of 2008. the nasdaq was up by 28 points to 2,818. wall street rally was headed by

the san jose police officers association says its plans to give awards to two officers who caught a homicide suspect friday night shortly after a shooting at one of east san jose's busiest intersections. the poa says officer hayes and brone thought it might be gang related and went to the back of ryan elementary school where

fact, frank more 50s, eventually we're talking about a few upper 30s across parts of the bay area. right now on the maps you may notice an increase in the clouds. no rain drops expected in the overcast but still it'll be a factor for tonight. when the clouds move out of town by midnight we are expecting those temperatures to really drop. as far as the forecast in the short term it is this. at 6:00 we are expecting partly cloudy conditions. those readings 55 to 60 degrees. by 9:00 or 8:00, 53 to 58 with fair skies, then here we go by 10:00, we expect clear conditions 45 to 50 degrees. that is setting the stage for some what of a cool morning. nothing too extremely cold but still in the upper 30s for santa rosa, and san francisco starting out tuesday morning in the lower 40s as 43 degrees. here is a spot forecast. up in santa rosa we'll have

dozens of people are dead tonight after a suicide bomb ripped through a busy airport in moscow, russia's president is calling the act an act of terror. the airport was hit by what authorities called a suicide bomb. killing at least 35 people and wounding 180 others. russian president condemned the bombing and ordered tighter security at airports. robert gibbs read a statement from president obama pledging support for russia. >> michelle and i offer our

deepest condolences to the russian people who have suffered greatly to the hands of terrorism. we share your sorrow and resolve to stand with you on our common fight against those who use terrorism for their political goals. >> russia has been rocked by a number of terrorists attacks over the past decade. in november of 2009, 28 people died in a bombing of a high speed train out of moscow. last march two suicide bombings on the moscow subway killed 40 people and in october, three separate explosions in the regional parliament left six dead. and today 35 people died in the airport attack in moscow. rebels have taken credit for most of the recent attacks in russia. but so far no run is claiming responsibility for today's bombing. the suicide bombings in russia have not changed security in our airports.

they have not received any notice from u.s. officials to change any airport security rules here at home. the terrorism attack in moscow happened in an unsecure area where passengers were picking up luggage and greeting relatives and friends. california federal officials have agreed to work together to announce new rules for efficiency. the rules would apply to trucks and cars for through the 2025 model years. california planned to announce tougher restrictions. legislators say people using cell phones or listening to music with cell phones near streets create dangers to both

budget committee. looks like rahm emanuel may not be able to run for chicago mayor after all. an appellate court in illinois took his name off the ballot because he didn't meet the one year residency requirement. emanuel rented out his chicago home and moved his family to washington to work for president barack obama for nearly two years. >> i had answered the president's obama's request to serve as his chief of staff. i still own a home here, i look forward to moving it into it one day. i vote from here, pay property taxes here. i do believe that the people of the city of chicago have the right to make a decision on who they want to be their next mayor. >> reporter: rahm emanuel has been considered the front runner in tomorrow's election. he may be the vice president but joe biden the not excused from jury duty. this video shows him overseas, but this morning biden and several secret agents were there waiting with other

hundred perspective jurors in a court in delaware. no word yet on whether the vice president will be selected to take part in a trial. experts today predicted an economic boom for the silican valley. the business forecasting center says quote robust growth is returning to the san jose area. bop predicts personal interest will rise this year and 3.5 next year. job growth should be up they say 1.5% this year and 2% in 2011. unemployment which peeked at 11.5% last year is expected to drop to 9.1% next year in the san jose area. >> oakland added new workers to a program that helps students. the idea here is to approach children on the street and get them back into school or into job training programs. a federal grant funded these nine new positions. >> what we're doing to do is

>> ever wonder where your tax refund is, well now there is an app for that. the internal revenue service has an app that will help you track your tax return. the information is incrypted so you don't have to worry about whether your personal information is safe. that app by the way is called irs to go. san francisco is making it easier for green minded consumers to avoid buying those plastic bottles of water.

the city is replacing those plastic bottle machines with refilling stations. 15 stations are planned for a total cost of $38,000. there's word that a dispute between students has been resoeverred. a plan has been put in place with students of pending financial aid awards will no longer receive eviction notices. a glitch called some of the students to receive their award money late and get behind on their rent. toyota has announced that it has opened three new offices. the offices are in response to a series of recalls of toyota

just about 30 minutes ago, contra costa sheriff's divers and the cost guard ended another day of searching but there's still no sign of a missing san francisco fishermen. harry lee was fishing on the delta on saturday. today napa county's sheriff divers continued the search. his family though remained optimistic that he will be found. >> we're still not giving up pe and i mean, the emotions will come in. but then we're not going to give up hope. and we do believe in miracles. >> the sheriff's marine patrol told us they plan to put more boats in the water tomorrow to try to find the missing fishermen. and a cruise ship is in the bay area for repairs and it brought with it hundreds of jobs. it is the only floating dry dog dock in the coast to hold it.

here we have the actual work being done. the ship pulled into pier 70 yesterday where it's getting a brand new engine. the port director says there's 800 people working on the ship at one time. >> it's going to mean thousands of hours of work for bay area plumbers, pipe fitters, welders, electricians it's just a real shot in the arm to our economy. >> reporter: now this is the ship that made headlines back in november when a fire on board left 4,500 passengers stranded without power, food or working toilets. the round the clock work will continue until it's ready for it's next cruise out of los angeles on february 20th. the new numbers indicate many of those who voted against

prop 19 actually support legal medical marijuana. a study shows that they were just in opposition to a part of the law and not legalizing marijuana. i want to show you the view from chopper 2 and show where those hoáf hov lanes will go in. about 100 trees will be uprooted before the construction. caltrans plans to plant 28 new trees near neighboring streams. the city planned to start removing sand that had drifted on to the road between slope boulevard. but public works manager said equipment that they needed for the project didn't arrive on time. once the work begins that stretch of the great highway will be closed from 9:00 a.m.

sightings so far this month. officials are advising residents as always do not approach the big cat and to avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or at night. see temperatures in the 70s. let's go now to our meteorologist mark tamayo who's in for our chief meteorologist bill martin. >> tomorrow temperatures a few neighborhoods once again hoovering right around at 70 degrees mark. those high clouds moving in to the north, you can see right on the satellite with at least partly cloudy skies that thin vail of high clouds moving into the region. but not producing any rain drops overnight tonight we could have patchy fog reform especially right around the delta. nothing showing up just yet. we could have a few patches developing late tonight. and you can see all the 60s showing up. temperatures on average eight to 10 degrees warmer than

average. you can see san jose 68 degrees, fairfield 64. your weather store, your forecast is this for tonight, we're expecting partly cloudy sky. still in the warm side, dry weather pattern will stick around. here's what's happening in the satellite, high pressure is strengthening, we still have high clouds moving in. now with this system in place you will notice some more winds in the bay area hills especially up above 1,500. up above 2,000 feet. we could have a bit of a breeze out there now approaching 35 to 40 miles per hour. the other result, those warm temperatures will stick around. that's the key headline for tomorrow. sunny and warm, breezy in the hills and there's the eventual temperature range from right around 60 to 70 degrees. as far as the high clouds for this evening, here we are at 5:00, this forecast model, i'm showing you some of the cloud cover that happens this evening. we'll have mostly clear conditions and overnight tonight we don't have enough to show you on tuesday morning it's 7:00. we could have patchy fog

the federal programming has been deporting illegal immigrants accused of serious crimes may have a consequence, penalizing victims of violence. and the city may start dimming light, and it's not just because of the environment or the committee, there's an -- environment or economy, it might be something that's an out of this world reason. right now much of the focus is for a woman who reached out for help but that could now be deported. david stevenson has her story. >> reporter: rights activists say a japanese woman here in san francisco is now facing deportation because she called the police in an alleged domestic violence case. >>
