a 90-year-old sausalito woman went missing. this morning the search will start again. yin cheng is 90 years old. she was seen getting ready to take her daily walk. a search and rescue team canvassed the streets until after midnight. they will be back starting up for that search again. now if you are see miss cheng or have any information please contact sausalito police. time now is 6:01. we have an update. we have developing news in the bay view district. police are there at the scene of a double shooting that left one man dead. another one is fighting for his life. in the past five minutes we talked with the police. they told us the shooting happened after a fight inside of a home. it happened about 1:30 this

morning at kirkwood and phelps. that area is still blocked off by police. police are investigating whether the shooting is gang related. we just spoke to a sheriff deputy about the search for juliani carr key that ifs. jade hernandez joins us now. jade. >> reporter: good morning, authorities are not giving up. they have used divers, sonar equipment, and search dogs and later this morning the california highway patrol will send up a helicopter over this canal. a birds eye view will allow for search teams to see anything that might float to the surface. one of the options has been to drain the canal but at a cost of $3 million an hour to the neighboring economies. it doesn't seem like much of an option since it takes 8-12 hours to drain the canal. one week ago today those two 27-

year-old jose esteban rodriguez and four-year-old juliani cardenas disappeared. tire tracks leading into the canal matched the car. we spoke to rodriguez's mother yesterday. worried she pleaded for her son to come back to her. we spoke to the sheriff an hour ago. >> we haven't had any sightings or spottings that is more credible that leads us to this canal if that is very frustrating. it leaves us with a grim hope that what our witness saw most likely did happen and that car and the four-year-old boy is in the water somewhere. >> the 27-year-old rodriguez who's had a criminal past hasn't used his cell phone or

as serious but the attack stunned family members including the victims sister who saw it as it happened. >> a group of males around her brother on the ground and they ran off throwing rocks. >> authorities only have a vague description of attackers. if you have any information, contact concord police. some residents in san francisco are pretty fed up with flyers on their doorsteps and now they are planning to make it all stop and go away. ktvu tara moriarty is joining us live with what the board of supervisors may consider doing. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. the people that live here are cracking down on these. they are fliers like these that advertise a restaurant. they are literally trying to get them off the streets. that are so-called handbills.

they advertise things from politicians as well as businesses. they can't ban them because it would fringe upon the first amendment right. but they can require distributors to make sure the flyers attached to their gate or door better so they don't create litter. if your flyer does fly away you could be facing a fine. the new rule would give public works authority to issue those fines. currently the police department has that authority. the proposal will go before the board of supervisors this month. i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. 6:06 is the time right now. let's go back to the sal. how is the commute? >> it's getting busier now we

are getting into the heart of the commute. highway 4 will show you traffic that is getting more crowded and also there is fog in some of the areas. so you will be driving in some of it. you might want to leaves house a little earlier. it is still light enough for them not to have turned on the metering lights just yet. westbound traffic is okay on the bridge. if you are driving on the san mateo or dumbarton bridges, the traffic looks good. we will take a look at livermore again. westbound 580 right near livermore avenue there is a new crash. traffic is beginning to slow down. let's go back to steve. >> thank you, sir. dry weather continues. one of our forecast models said maybe on the 31st monday we could see. i doubt it. this week is dry expect for fog. 35 kenwood now.

yountville, petaluma, san ramon 39. lafayette at 39. cold lows. but the days are nice. 36 fairfield. livermore upper 30s. napa is in there. santa rosa. patchy fog. component of an easterly breeze keeps some locations hayward and oakland in the mid 40s. napa at five. very thick fog in the valley could come back in. we can get some of the very low ground fog but it pushes off fast. high pressure is here. it's sticking around for awhile. it's deflecting everything rain to the north and we get that easterly breeze. so in the hills you can get gusts 25-35 miles an hour. 34-50 on the morning lows. it's clear for everyone else. 58-64 sunny to mostly sunny and then i will say fair.

blueprint for the nations economic comeback. alison burns got some of the insight in the speech from the press secretary. good morning, alison. >> reporter: good morning, to you dave. robert gibbs tells me president obama's focus here at the examine tonight will be boosting jobs and boosting americas competitiveness around the world. now gibbs says president obama will emphasize new investigatement in education and investment. local congresswoman hopes that can be a benefit for the bay area. >> being from silicon valley i know that technology has to be part of the answer to that question. and science, research, education, and those investigatements are what will give us a bright future. >> reporter: president obama is expected to talk more broadly about reducing the federal deficit and cutting spending. but at this point it's unclear if we are going to get many specifics on that.

for scalia to not go. former white house chief of staff rob emmanuel will appeal to the illinois court justice. emmanuel rented out his chicago home and moved his family to washington to work for president obama for nearly two years. and in just a few hours michael jackson's doctor acaused in jackson's death will be back in court. lawyers for dr. conrad murray say they will not seek a plea bargain. murray is accused of giving jackson an illegal dosage of medicine. one republican lawmakers is proposing a plan to have u.s.

states declare bankruptcy. california is one of the states facing a financial crisis. supporters of the plan say allowing them to declare bankruptcy would prevent a federal bailout. taxpayers would declare more. california lawmakers routinely rack up huge gasoline bills despite the budget crisis. today's chronicle is reporting that -- it's a perk you can only find in california. last year the gas bill was $208,000 for the state assembly members. $86,000 for members of the state senate. i know sal is keeping an eye on the roads, the bridges, highway 24, how does it look, sal? >> we've had a pretty good tuesday, dave and pam. we've had routine slow downs. we do have one crash i will tell you about in the valley in a moment. this is highway 24 westbound driving up to the tunnel.

it looks pretty good. no problems on 680 either. this is a look at 680 down the sunol grade. livermore valley. westbound 580 a noninjury crash. they are trying to move it off the freeway. the problem is people have been slowing down on it. at 6:18 let's go to steve. >> all right, sal. santa rosa, napa airport, and concord report fog. coming back in from the delta and very thick fog out toward stockton andmy december toe. after that it will be another sunny forecast. 40s and 30s. 39 walnut creek. palo alto is in there now.

patchy fog near san jose. i checked the web camera it looks like it's gone. sunny and warm after the fog. an easterly breeze in the higher elevations. the wind and hills and little breeze coming back in from the delta could give patchy fog to others. 60s low. if you're in that fog it will not get that warm. if you don't you will be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. redwood city in there. lots of sunshine. there are areas of patchy fog. we ll take that into the end of the week. cooler by late in the weekend. pam and dave. >> thank you, steve. 6:20 is the time right now 37s latest report on home prices show they can't to fall. the average price for homes in the 20 largest markets dropped 1.6% in november and in eight markin the west and sun belt prices hit the lowest

rescue search volunteer. allie. >> reporter: good morning, dave. this building behind me is the fire station on johnson street that it will up room you see on the corner that is the emergency operation center. you can see there is people starting to set up and opening the doors. 20 minutes from now is when search and rescue crews will meet in that room to resume the search for a missing 90-year- old woman. we have a picture to show you. yin cheng. she was last seen yesterday morning as she was getting ready to take her daily morning work. joining us now is lieutenant curtis scoop. tell us what area and what places are you going to start searching? >> last night we searched the

12th district. this morning we will be checking some of the same areas in the daylight and moving further north. we do have resources to check the coastline. >> reporter: it sounds like there are a quite a number of resources being put in this search. how many volunteers and other counties are assisting with the search? >> last night i believe we had 60 volunteers today we have 45. some will be from sonoma county. we have three canines coming to assist with the search. >> thanks for talking with us. 20 minutes from now volunteers will have that meeting. they are going to resume the search for yi n cheng. and that search is beginning to resume at 7:30 this morning. we will be back here to bring

calls. a man was tied to an antiabortion group who visited planned parenthood groups. planned parenthood says the man works for live action. funding for thousands of california children and their families is at risk under governor jerry brown's proposed budget. first five california provides early childhood services such as education and child care. the examiner reports that the proposal calls for taking away a billion dollars and cutting future spending by 50%. your time now 6:35. a plan on the drawing board is sure to be a big hit with alameda county bike riders. they want to build a bike rack underneath the bart systems.

it's called the east bay greenway. it will also be a pedestrian trail on that very same route. >> that sounds like a great idea. >> it does. 6:35 is the time. let's go to sal. hopefully no big problems. >> not too many. traffic is doing well. there is a little bit of slowing on interstate 880 now on richmond and panole. you will see it beginning to get crowded on the way to the bay bridge toll plaza. there are no accidents reported. toll plaza metering lights have been switched on. we are getting a little out of delay here. and this mornings commute is going to get a little bit slower in the south bay. 101 is getting into the act there with slowing coming in toward sunnyvale.

and if you're on the peninsula it looks good. let's go to steve. sal, thank you, sir. patchy fog is making its way back in. santa rosa has some fog. napa airport. fairfield, concord, and crockett. it's coming back in very shallow. it can be cold and thick in many spots. patchy fog, chilly. highs 60 to 70s. closer to 60s if you have that fog. if not santa rosa and santa cruz to be near 70. a north easterly breeze in the hills. still 20-25. some cold lows. kenwood is 35. yountville at 38. woodside 38. palo alto is in there. san ramon and gilroy checking in at 38. lafayette 39 degrees. you can get that fog.

good morning, to you. welcome back. here are the top stories we are following for you. president obama state of the union address tonight will focus on jobs. the president wants to convince the american people as well as congress he has a plan for creating new jobs faster. in just over an hour police divers will go back to a canal in patterson as they search for a missing four-year-old boy juliani cardenas. it has been one week since he's been abducted. his mothers exboyfriend is the suspect. concord police are searching for teenagers involved in a vicious attack on a mentally disabled man. a community program

designed to reduce crime and increase student success in east oakland launches today. jean quan will announce details this morning. a new group of outreach researchers will be deployed on the streets of oakland. they started training yesterday. they will be paired off. they will approach young people on the streets and encourage them to get back to school or into job training. a federal grant paid for nine new positions. last night mayor jean quan spoke about reinventing oakland. her vision includes attracting new businesses and improving high school graduation rates. there is already signs the mayors vision may be taking shape along lake shore avenue. one community activist says ten new businesses has opened in

the area. some neighborhoods in san jose could be getting less light. part of an energy saving plan that would dim many street lights. >> we are not proposing getting more than 50%. that sounds like a lot but you cannot see the difference in lighting at 50%. your eyes don't perceive it. >> some neighbors say before the move is made they want to say how much darker their streets will be. many lights with dimmers are operating in the arizona man area and also in east san jose. until the city council approves the guidelines about which light should be dimmed and for how long street lights have to remain at full power. scientists predict the worlds largest super volcano at a popular american national park could erupt again. there have been three catastrophic eruptions in the last two million years. researchers say the super

volcano underneath the wyoming park has risen by a record rate. however a devastating blast is not imminent. public works crews plan to close the highway. the highway between lincoln way will be closed starting at 9:00 this morning. as we told you yesterday morning that work was supposed to start yesterday but heavy equipment needed for the project didn't arrive in time. workers do plan to close the highway from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day until friday. be aware. at 6:46 sal is telling us about emergency road work in san francisco. where is it at? >> dave, it's coming in off the upper deck of the bay bridge. westbound 80 at ninth street. they have one of the lanes closed at ninth street and one of the off ramp closed as well. this is leading up to the

central freeway. this is going to start backing up traffic on to the bridge as people coming in off the bay bridge will start to slow down. the bay bridge itself we have a bigger backup at the toll plaza. if there is a backup on the bridge, with they do is switch the metering lights on slower and make most of the traffic wait here. we will see what happens. this is not good news for the bay bridge commute and san francisco bound drivers. let's move along and take a look at the south bay. that traffic is okay for slowing here. 280 is getting into the act. 6:47 let's go to steve. thank you. i could be there with my feet up on the desk. in the big picture nothing is going on. some fog has decided to reapair. that is mostly in the north bay and east bay. high pressure aloft at the surface. after patchy fog if you get it at all it will be a sunny and

mild to worm-- mild to warm forecast. there will be a cooling trend. i don't want to say rain but a couple forecast models are kind of insinuating there might be a little bit. for a system to come in through a long stretch of dry weather doesn't give us much. more of the same tomorrow. i don't see any changes until sunday and monday. 36 fairfield with a north wind at 10. santa rosa reporting fog. napa airport reporting fog. concord fog has come in. our observer in crockett says the humidity is up. 40s for many. especially peninsula. down to san jose. san jose clear at 44. they did have a couple of minute or two of fog. pretty good systems. they are heading to vancouver

street. live looks at the big board right now. dow jones not too bad considers we have mixed earning reports. home prices continue to fall in the area u.s. cities. those numbers coming in a short time ago. the dow jones down 17 points to 11, 963. we could soon see the end of plastic credit cards. analysts claim this will be the year the smart phone will take their place. they predict people will spend $22 billion in pay by phone transactions. you are about to see new nutrition labels on manufactured foods. they will have nutrition keys. they will list the amount of calories, the salt, sugar, and saturated fat per serving. they could also include other nutrients like calcium and vitamin c. it's not coordinated in a way to help you decide

what is really healthy. they are not expected to be in most stores until the end of the year. san francisco is fed up with seeing flyers at their doorstep. tara moriarty just spoke with residents. tara. >> reporter: if you very seen one of these. i don't know if you have read it. it's very informative. has a lot of options here for things you can eat. but there is a lot of print on this. a lot of people we talk to say they simply ignore it. that includes someone very surprising. a business owner himself. people that live around here say they are annoyed by their handbills. they say they are trashing their sidewalks and bills. they can't push to ban them because they would infringe upon their first amendment right. they can tighten up legislation. >> i don't pay attention to them. >> you just throw them in the

welcome back to the morning news. i want to take you live to new york. the dow jones down not by a lot though considering there were disappointing earnings coming in. johnson and johnson one of them. the federal reserve starts its two-day meeting today. we will learn more about interest rates. >> that is a big one. time now 6:56. san francisco did not make the list on the top ten of a new survey of the gayest cities in america. minneapolis is the number one gayest city. followed by santa fe, new mexico, las vegas. they used a formula. they counted each city gay theme businesses and compared that with the total population. that works against cities that has large populations. new york city and los angeles did not make the list at all.

rock star brett michaels had heart surgery to close up a hole in his heart. he had the surgery yesterday in phoenix. he's now recovering and still being closely watched. doctors discovered a hole in his heart last spring. vice president joe biden fulfilled his civic duty when he appeared for jury duty. he says he does not consider himself for any other person. it was an honor to be part of the system. we have an emergency road closure in san francisco coming in off the bay bridge. you can see cal tran crews there at ninth street. they are doing some sort of emergency work. this will effect traffic coming in off the bay bridge. speaking of the bay bridge westbound is slow. it's very slow at the toll plaza. this may have something to do with the traffic on the upper
