well, good morning to you. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. we want to go right to sal for an update on a road closure that's happening in the bay a rea. sal? >> er >> tori and dave, i'm not sure what they are doing here but they had to shut down one of the lanes of the freeway and the offramp for emergency road repair. you can see our live camera is there. westbound 8 o now, westbound 80, as weigh move the camera, you can see that traffic is already backing up on that skyway coming in off the bay bridge. in fact, it's quickly backing up all the way to the san francisco anchorage and this is affecting traffic object bay bridge. - - traffic on the bay bridge. as we pack pan to the left, you did -- as we pan to the left, you can see traffic is slowing down. and this will affect the m

etering lights on the toll plaza. so at the toll plaza you will see a big backup. as we move to the left, traffic is slowing down. give yourself plenty of time. you may also want to consider b.a.r.t. this morning coming into san francisco. they are doing well with all of those trains moving in. we'll have more on this coming up. 7:01. back to the desk. one minute after 7:00. in 30 minutes, the search will come in again for a 90-year-old sausalito woman. allie rasmus just spoke with police and joins us live with what they are planning to do. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tori. police say they are following a new tip they received last n ight. first i want to show you what's going on behind us. this group gathered in front of the building. these are some of the crews and volunteers that -- that will be resuming the search for this woman. we'll told 30, 40 people will

be doing the search. that includes sausalito police, marin and sonoma county search and rescue crews. let's show you a picture of the woman missing. yen chang is described as being 4'9" with long hair in a penny tail. she was last seen in the area of 400 north street in sausalito at 7::00 a.m. yesterday morning. she was getting ready to start what her family says was her daily one to two-hour morning walk. she never returned. a search began yesterday e vening. now, the sausalito police lieutenant told me about some of the challenges in the search. >> sausalito is a rather hilly area. so it's steep tur rain and there are a lot of bushes, the lady might have fallen. she might be on the side of the road. >> now, about the tip, police say they got a tip about a woman sitting on a bench on the

marin county side of golden gate bridge. now that it's light out -- light out, search crews are gonna resume their search. that will begin in about a half hour and a area is one of the areas -- and that area is one of the areas they will search. right now they are meeting to plan out where exactly they will go. we heard there is an extensive amount of resources being dedicated to this, along with fire and police, fire and police boat, dogs. there's also been a request for helicopters to aid with the search. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. in another search that's just about to resume, the focus is still on a canal in hopes of finding 4-year-old juliani cardenas. today, dive teams will get some help, help they haven't had

before. ktvu's jade hernandez joins us live in stanislaus county too explain what that is all about. good morning, jade. >> reporter: good morning, dave. it's tough. i can tell you, it's very, very foggy. we don't know if the fog will hinder the search for 4-year- old juliani cardenas who has not been seen in a week. they are also starting to feel the weight of this. >> we haven't had any sightings or anything that's better than this canal. >> reporter: despite that, authorities are not giving u the chp is expected to send up a helicopter up the delta mendota canal. the search in the water begins south of where officials believe hoe hey rodriquez may have driven into the can n. one

anticipation -- canal. one happens is to -- one option is to drain the canal. one week -- one week ago today, jose rodriquez and juliani cardenas disappeared. stanislaus county authorities say rodriquez ripped the boy from his grandmother's arms and has not been seen since. tire tracks leading into the car on tuesday matched a farmhand's report of a car rolling into the water after the abduction. it's still the strongest lead in the case. we spoke to his mother y esterday. he asked for a plea to bring him back. >> he thought he was not gonna see the baby. but he's hurting all of his family at the same time. hese hurting me. i'm his mom.

healthy mindset. we've learned this morning target will open one of its two new east bay stores just over a month from right know. in fact, we're peeking in live. we're in the pal of one of the new stores. this is the store on the oakland emeryville border. this store will open its doors on march 6th. a new target store in eastern dublin will open. both these could mean up to 500 jobs for the economy. >> that's a good sign for the economy. okay. we want to check in with sal. >> we watched this on the network. they've just picked up the cones in san francisco. they were right there. you see those yellow sand

barrels? they had been demolished in an earlier crash. the authorities thought it was unsafe to have no barrels there. all of the lanes are open. this is good news all of the lanes are open. but there was a big pacificup on the bridge and now there is a bag backup at the -- backup on the bridge and now there is a big backup at the toll plaza. they were scheduled to open at 7:45. they cleared it about 40 m inutes. so it took them about a half an hour to fix those sand barrels and then they took off, which is good news. westbound 580 traffic still very slow approaching livermore avenue. 880 north and southbound in hayward and union city. if you are driving to the south bay, 280, northbound and southbound near 17 is the s lowest point right now. 7:10. let's go to steve.

we do have mostly clear skies. that valley fog creeps back in north bay, east bay. any catches don't last too long but it comes back to a northeasterly breeze. so fog and a sunny craft. over all, we're looking to -- we're looking for patchy fog. plenty of sunshine. breezy, east bay hills. it's a northeasterly breeze. some of the lows coming in, core deal yu yaw -- cordelia 36. san ramon, gilroy, 389. brentwood '39. and la fayette and alamo are also 39. 39 fairfield with a north wind at 10. that's cold. concord was 39. the fog came in.

november has life-threatening injuries after a double s hooting. the shooting happened after a fight inside a home at kirkwood and phelps at 1:30 this morning. so far, no arrests have been made. the alarming rise in gang violence is prompting emergency action in the bay area's largest city. last night, about 100 people crowded in the san jose's neighborhood center. city leaders called the emergency meeting as part of their all-out effort to stop the killing. there have been nine homicides in san jose during the first three weeks of the year. three of those killings are tied to violent street gangs. >> i worry about my children. they are gonna grow up in this area. i don't want them -- i want them in be -- i want them to be in a safe place. >> certainly we're concerned. how we can address some of the best violence going on in the city -- >> police say these diminishing resources mean they need the

public's help more than ever. 2011 is getting off to a violent start in all three of the bay area's big cities. oakland has had 11 homicides so far this year. there have been nine killings in san jose. sanfrancisco has nine including the fatal shooting of a teenager early this morning. when president obama d elivers his third state of the union tonight he's expected to give us a blueprint for a merica's economic comeback. alley isn't burns has some insight about what he's going to say from the press secretary. >> reporter: good morning. here at the capitol, the theme is "winning the future." robert gibbs says president obama is going to focus on create be jobs. gibbs says president obama is going to emphasize how democrats and republicans can work together and he hopes the

this search effort. just moments ago. they left to presume the search for the missing 90-year-old grandmother. a total of 50 volunteers sauce lee co police are help with the search to find yin chang. she's been missing for 24 hours. she's 4'9". she has long hair in a ponytail and was last scene in the 400 block of hill street. she was starting her dale toy one to two-however morning walk and her family says she never rushed. the police say they are f ollowing up 0 a lead. a garbage truck worker reportedly saw her resuming on a bench near a barbecue. >> we did get a report that she was seen south of sausalito.

so is 85 and so is 101. i can't recommend one or the other. let's take a look at the bay bridge temperature. this seems to me like the heart of the commute, the busiest traffic we've had this morning. westbound at least a 20-minute delay at the toll plaza. the morning drive in san francisco is okay. we had some earlier road construction delays there. northbound 101 a little bit crowded on southbound 101. let's go to steve. sunny for most. but that fog has decided to come backen in -- come back in. up above it's sunny. but below it, it's cold. veer row visibility out to eastern solano and contra costa county. it wasn't there when i came in early this noshing. it does show up at 7:00, in the morning. it will burn off. but if you are stuck in it, it will be sunny and warm.

kirby cove cam. ground. we don't know her -- campground. we don't know her condition. she's been missing since 7:00 yesterday morning when see set out for her daily walk. in the last two hours, police told ktvu a witness spotted cheng -- they spotted her s itting on a bench near kavala point. 50 volunteers just set out 30 minutes ago. coming up in the next half hour, we're expecting to hear from chang's son and we'll have more on this latest development. right now, dive teams are getting ready to resume their search for 4-year-old juliani cardenas in the canal in patterson. jade hernandez has more. >> reporter: good morning.

you can barely see this through the fog. the stanislaus county mobile command center. dive teams are still expected to bring so nar equipment back out here -- sonar equipment back out here. we've been checking in with stanislaus county authorities this morning. they just are not giving up h ope. they've used divers, sonar equipment and search dogs. and today, the california highway patrol are expecting to send up a helicopter. a few hours, the authorities spent time rooking -- looking at the tire tracks that led to the canal, corroborating a f armhand's report, similar to the car seen driven by jose

aiting for them to arrive here. we do expect this to begin in the next few hours. we're still following overnight hours from -- from just a couple of hours ago. a double shooting. police say one man was killed. another has loyal injuries. there was a fight inside a home from kirkwood an phelps. so far no arrests have been m ade. the increase is prompting emergency action. city officials called this emergency meeting. it's part of their all-out effort to stop the killings. there have been nine homicides in san jose in the. three of them are tied to gang violence. >> my children are gonna grow up in this area. i want them to be in a safe place. >> certainly we're concerned with diminishing resources and

competing resources. how we can address some of the violence going on in the city. >> police say those diminishing resources say they need the public's help in the battle -- in the battle against gang violence. oakland has had 11 homicides so far this year. there have been nine in san j ose. sanfrancisco has also had nine, including the deadly shooting of a teenaged boy earlier tonight. the latest inemployment numbers were just released. it shows that california r eported the second highest hate in the runt, at 12.5%. the labor department says it rose in 20 minutes and fell in 15. the unemployment rate will l ookly remain high. pl ears in most state did not

rahm emanuel is asking the illinois support to overturn a ruling booting him off the chicago mayoral ballot. yesterday, an appeals court r uled that rahm emanuel does into the meet residency r equirements in chicago and that overturned an earlier decision that he did meet the r equirements. you may remember he stepped gown as cheap of stephanopolous of the white house and president obama in order to run for the mayor's race in chicago. meanwhile chicago's board of l ex -- elections plans to print ballots without rahm emanuel's ballot -- name on them. so he's, once again, asking the appeals court to overturn the appeals court decision. 8:20. we're also remembering governor jerry brown will deliver his state of the state address next monday night. virgin america airlines is dropping another route in april. they will stop flying to tron c o, canada. that will leave virgin with flights to and from 13 city, including new york, dallas and los angeles. virgin america, which is privately held, is expecting to post an operating profit for last year and a net profit this year. we, the profit margins of the eight major u.s. airlines are at their high left -- highest levels in a decade. after a decade of multi-billion dollar losses they appear to be making more money by flying l ess. they've laid off crews. they've eliminated flights which cuts down on their costs. that's also increasing the demand for the limited number of seats and that's also pushing up fares. tau, contra costa s upervisors will consider a rate hike for garbage collection in east parts of the county.

juliani cardenas, the boy kidnapped a week ago. the drivers are gonna move further down anderson road and they will be using sonar equipment in the search. a witness reported seeing a suspect's car plunge into the water 45 minutes after the child was snatched. we'll give you an update on that story if we get any additional information. san francisco police are still searching for the man they think is responsible for the female body found inside a car. source essay that suspect's name is almond j. johnson. several residents took video of the car fire. they say the times were as high as two stories. firefighters had trouble putting it out. one witness said he saw a man light a rag on fire, toss it into the driver's side of the car and then run away. concord police are searching for teenagers involved in a
