perfume. police swarmed the building when they investigated the double shooting inside. we don't know if this store was open at the time of that shooting but the coffee shop around the corner closes at 8:00 on sunday. we are told by employees the fisherman's wharf is very quiet on sunday nights. the small store is located at 269 jefferson street. two employees were shot dead. san francisco police arrested one man in connection of a shooting. or the connection between the suspected shooter or the store employees. the specksman did tell us police are not looking for any other suspects. the double homicide is common for this part of the city. the motive is unclear. coming up you will near from lieutenant dangerfield. reporting live from san francisco jade hernandez ktvu channel 2 news. there was more shaking in the east bay overnight.

the usgs reports an earthquake measuring 3.0 hit at 12:30 this morning. the quake did not cause any damage. but that early morning shaker did follow a swarm of quakes in contra costa county yesterday. half a dozen rattled the al motrin sunday from 3:00 in the morning to the afternoon. the mother of little four- year-old july than any cardenas believes her son is still aleave. at a vigil juliani's mother discontributed fliers. she is asking everyone to keep an eye out for the suspect jose esteban rodriguez. >> my son is little. a lot of people pay more attention to adults than they do to children. i mean, what if he has them all disguised or something.

if $15 million of fundraising will be enough to reinstate their sports. ktvu channel 2 reporter allie rasmus joins us with the programs that could be cut. >> reporter: gorge we are right -- good morning. we are right in front of where they start their practice. last year the university decided to cut the baseball mens and womens gymnastic. lacrosse said that move would save them $4 million a year. a group of alumni together to start a fundraising campaign. this is vid know of the launch of the fundraising event. today is the universities self- imposed deadline to decide whether the money raised is enough. >> we have been doing a bunch of different things to get pledges and donations. and we really would like to know if our hard work paid off.

>> reporter: now the alumni group has a website called save cal sports. according to that website the group raised more than $16 million in pledges. a university spokesman said yesterday the group needs commitments for at least $25 million. >> along with that they know they also have to possess a feasible viable plan to raise additional funds that would get an endowment that could support these teams from operating. >> reporter: if baseball is not reinstated this would with the last season they would play on this field. we will continue to follow this story throughout the morning. we do not yet have an exact timeline as to when the university will make its decision. according to the universities

growing kaunas-- chaos. first charter plane has landed in cypris. >> reporter: the state department said it will take several days to get out of egypt. a curfew is in place in cairo. it's too soon to tell how this curfew will effect the evacuations of americans stranded in egypt. according to the state department at last count some 52,000 americans were registered with the u.s. embassy in cairo. officials are expecting one more plane with americans to arrive. one stranded chicago couple that was able to escape to

for conservative political donors. the 25 who were arrested after they cross the street to the resort near palm springs where the seminar was being held. each year they invite 200 wealthy activist to their event. brothers have been largely criticized because of their funding fight against the laws. and the large amounts of money they have given to conservative causes. according to the san francisco chronicle the upcoming san francisco mayors race will be expensive for taxpayers. the paper says under new rules the city will be on the hook to match or exceed the amount of campaign money raised by each candidate once they bring in at least $25,000. now several candidates have already passed that mark. city attorney dennis has collected $250,000 in private donations so far. state senator lee land yee has

desk. >> thank you, sal. another wave of winter weather is heading toward the middle of the country and expected to continue on to the eastern sea board. the newest storm is the latest of series of harsh weather that has hit. forecasters say the upcoming storm could effect 100 million people in 29 states. snow, sleet, and freezing rain is predicted for tomorrow with snowfall topping two feet. a proposal to arm san francisco police officers with tasers will be back on the police commissions agenda next month. the commission rejected the proposal last year. the cities interim police chief wants to revisit the issue in the wake of three recent officer involved shootings. most major police departments in the nation used tasers. san francisco, detroit, and memphis are among those that do not. a man in a wheelchair that was shot by san francisco police may be preparing a brutality lawsuit against the

city. randall dunkin has hired a lawyer to determine whether or not not to file a suit. randall is facing criminal charges in that incident. donate blood? win free movie tickets for a year. the red cross will hold weekly drawings for 12 pairs of movie passes. blood donors must be in good health and 17 years of age. now according to the red cross january is one of the slowest months for donations. today the federal government will release its updated nutrition pyramid. this time they are focusing on strategy to reduce obesity and related diseases. sodium. nearly half of americans are being asked to cut down to a

(415)575-5544. that is a unanimous tip hotline. this is no permanent store front sign in front of it. there is a sign hanging above it that this store sells discounted perfume. police swarmed the store with a garage type door front as they investigated what happened inside. the shooting happened at the shop late last night. we don't know if the store was open when the suspect opened fire but we can tell you that this small store is located at 269 jefferson street in the heart of fisherman wharf. two store employees were shot dead. san francisco police could not give us any details on how they were arrested. they did arrest one man after the shooting. >> we don't know much about the

motive into this crime. it's something that doesn't normally happen around here. it's a huge tragedy for the city. >> the double homicide is uncommon for this part of san francisco. you can see joe's crab shack is right next door as is the pearl factory on the other side. lieutenant dangerfield told us again as you heard him say the motive is unclear. police are not looking for any other suspect in this investigation. and of course coming up we just spoke with a woman who was running in the area. she says she is very familiar with this area at what time it closes and she told us that she will tell us exactly about her feelings when she heard that there was a double shooting here late last night. reporting live jade hernandez. >> jade, before you go. most of us have been down to fisherman's wharf. can you give us a better idea of where you are? can you give us a landmark we would be familiar with? >> reporter: actually i can. as i mentioned joe's crab shack

the repairs. next month city officials plan to cover the board in vinyl until that memorial can be fixed. sanitary officials are ruling out ecoterrorism for a sewage spill last month. they have reported that sabotage lead to that spill near kent middle school. but an ongoing investigation reveals a sewage pipe is responsible for that spill. the district is refusing to pay the contractor that did the work. uc berkeley athletes will find out if fundraising efforts will be enough to reinstate six sports. ktvu channel 2 reporter allie rasmus is live with the programs that are in jeopardy. good morning, allie. >> reporter: good morning. the university is expected to make a decision some time today. right now we are sitting in front of the baseball field. this is where the team started their season practice over the

weekend. but that team's future along with the future of the mens and womens gymnastics team and lacrosse team is at stake here. last year they decided to cut those teams and deboat the rugby team to a club sport. after that was announced a group of cal alumni got together to raise a campaign. now today is the university's self-imposed deadline to decide whether the money raised is enough. the alumni group called save cal sports says it has gathered more than $16 million in pledges. however a universities spokesperson said they need $that 25 million to go. >> they will go with a significant amount of money in hopes of good faith demonstrating we are moving the needle in the direction of the number it will take to get

ilene has vanished. family and friends will hold a vigil this evening in dublin. the cj dugard case has given them new hope. jc was found alive after being missing for 18 years. this is amazing story. young fresno woman found her long lost father who had been living on the streets of san francisco. 23-year-old kelly christianson came to the city after spotting her dad in a newspaper article about san francisco's homeless. now early yesterday she found him in the cities mission district. marty christianson left his family 20 years ago while battling a serious drinking problem. he thought he would never want to see him again. his daughters trip to san francisco proved him wrong. proposed legislation in california could make it illegal for employers to fire workers that use medical marijuana. state senator mark leno introduced the bill. it would apply to workers that would use marijuana when they are not on the job.
