helped, tech analyst rob enderly says there are risks including egypt that may be considered as political. university of california officials say more than 30 members of the uc community have been safely evacuated from egypt to spain. expected back home in the next few days, it includes 19 students that were going to study at the american university in cairo. an 11 member archaeology team from ucla that was on a dig 200 miles south of cairo was also evacuated. an elementary school principal is being mourned after a shooting. the police chief says it is unclear whether there was a dispute between the janitor and the principal. no students were injured but

one may have witnessed the shooting. a spike strip stopped a chase in oakland that began on the bay bridge, a couple of hours ago, the chap says the driver may have been under the influence of drugs. it started at 12:30 when another driver said he was sideswiped by the suspect's car heading eastbound on the bay bridge. the people of that sideswiped car followed until the chase came to an end. >> i had my aunt call 911 and we were talking to the dispatcher and telling the dispatcher where he was going and what was happening. >> a spoke man could face charges of hit and run and driving under the influence. no one was hurt. the brother of san francisco giant's player nate sher hold pleaded not guilty --

guilty to charges of driving under the influence. a pedestrian was hit in danville last august in injuring four people. the businessman from fisherman's whar facing shooting charges is in the hospital tonight. 5 6-year-old waroo was supposed to be arraigned today but that was post posed because of observations takes place. a jury is now deliberating over molestation charges of napa state hospital, 63-year- old claude falk faces 35 counts of child molestation involving his stepson when the boy was 9 years old. he is denying any abuse.

the trial is in long beach where the abuse allegedly occurred. research shows the government is cracking down on illegal immigrants more than ever before but the step up in enforcement may not be deterring them. we have more from san jose with what this means from bay area communities. robert. >> reporter: well, julie waiting through the citizenship process is a goal of many people that come through immigration centers but the new studies indicate that many immigrants reject the service. the service group is planning a citizenship day in april just before the annual may 1st demonstration where thousands including undocumented immigrants march for immigration reform. the agency is encouraged from a new study from the hispanic center shows the illegal immigrant population holding study despite what are state and federal anti immigration policies.

gridlock as well as world events appear to be pushing reform down the government's priority list. live in san jose, robert handa. channel 2 news. the state department of education is praising the san jose school district for its efforts in bilingual education. the district received recognition for its part of a program called the seal of by literacy. it honors students and graduate high school in proficiency in english and one other language. last year the san jose school district graduated 77 students that met the requirements by studying spanish. employees at the shipyard will have to wait another day before their project starts. job seekers waited the arrival of the cargo ship solemn and turpin. it was postponed from the bay and the first ship dry docked

crashes. we have new in sight into where jobs are create the and lost in the bay area. a new report from the labor department shows that 86 positions were add in the san jose area and about 29 jobs were loss in the bay area. that is the second largest drop for a metro area in the country. on on wall street stocks were flat and finished just above 12,000 at 12,042. the nasdaq dropped about a point-and-a-half to 2049. a monster storm blocked travel across the nation. the options that travelers have tonight. a new security being tested by the tsa would turn the new pictures they take now into cartoons and will provide the same security.

starting at midnight verizon users can place their orders for a new iphone, the first sales of the verizon compatible iphone 4. the sales will start on february 9th and the phones will be available in stores on february 10th. in the wake of widespread complaints, airport officials are trying to make the scenes less revealing.

team in the country, that was a high honor. you don't get into that position often and it is difficult to get it and win. my hats off to these guys, they earned it and worked for it and beat a lot of good teams this year. they did it in style. it was a great year. this was also a national letter of in ten for high school players. kevin anderson and james videoders headed to stanford and cj anderson and quarterback kyle bam headed to cal. the at kin son twins are notre dame bound and marcus peters to washington and carlisle will attend usc and ricky lloyd to southern miss and dyland wind will attend oregon state. and that's it. a long list. that's true. that's part of it.
