at 6:00. problems continue in a santa cruz county neighborhood cut off by a massive landslide. >> oh my god, we better move. a cell phone camera captured this video as the mud and rock came tumbling down yesterday on nelson road in scotts valley. there are 26 homes on the other side of that slide. right now the only way to get there is on foot. through a makeshift trail, the geologists inspected the landslide today and is still evaluating the situation there. engineers are keeping a close eye on a cracked levee in southern county. work crews from a conservation core spent the day patching a section of the levee north of sacramento. they covered it with high grade plastic and weighed it down with sandbags. and ktvu.com has live radar so you can track the storm in your neighborhood. there's also a slide show of the best storm pictures sent in by viewers. just click on the storm watch

tab. two dramatic developments in court today as the barry bonds court trial was taking place. bonds' childhood friend was sent back to jail for refusing to testify against bonds. rita williams was in court, rita. >> reporter: opposition and prosecution, those two views were given in opening statements today. prosecutors said not only did bonds lie to the federal grand jury investigating balco in 2003. but he intended to. despite being given immunity. quote all he had to do was tell the truth but he couldn't do it. prosecutors said giant's trainers bonds exmistress and others will talk about changes

in bonds' body consistent with steroid use. and hoskins sister will talk about bonds' admissions and once witnessing an injection. plus a urine sample that contained balco's designer steroids. in court bond's attorney told jury bonds testified for more than two hours that day. more than seven years ago. quote he did his best, barry answered every answer he told the truth. ruby says bonds admits using it's just bonds believed what his trainer greg anderson told him. that he was taking flaxseed oil and arthritis cream.

she called the two witnesses bitter. his cross-examination continues here tomorrow. reporting live in san francisco, rita williams, ktvu channel 2 news. two guns were found today on the berkeley high school campus and one of them was fired. sal castaneda is live at the school with why school officials say they weren't surprised to find the firearms. >> reporter: students are reacting. this is the bathroom it happened inside there. then you see the bullet hole, that's where the bullet went through. students say they reacted after seeing that this morning. officials reacted quickly after they found two students had fired a gun inside of a portable bathroom. >> we don't have any indication that the bathroom was brought with the intent. the specific intent to cause harm to anybody. but again, at this point that's just speculation. >> reporter: the two boys were

arrested. later as police interviewed the first two it came out another boy was also known to be carrying a gun. that student was taken out of class and arrested after police found him carrying an unloaded semi automatic weapon. all three boys who were either 15 or 16 are now in berkeley police custody. a police spokeswoman told ktvu finding weapons brought to school is not that uncommon. >> this may be uncomfortable for some of the viewers to hear, but we're quite certain there are weapons in schools every day that we're not aware of. >> reporter: now this is a huge school, the school itself sits on 14 acres. there are more than 3,000 kids here. berkeley police say this is the fourth gun this year found on campus and officials say they are still increasing their safety policies. in berkeley, sal castaneda,

ktvu channel 2 news. a coast guard officer, petty officer involved in a boat crash was acquitted today of involuntary manslaughter. after a two week court marshal in alameda, paul ramos was found guilty of derelection of duty. his craft crashed into another boat killing an 8-year-old boy and injuring five other people. witnesses took the stand in the case of journalist bailey. a witness said that he saw a man shoot bailey and then turn around and shot bailey a second time. antwon mackey is accused of driving the van that was used

as a get away. a man is heading to prison after sexually assaulting his granddaughter at her school. pedro hernandez has agreed to a 12 year sentence for last june's attack on the 8-year-old girl. a teacher's aid called police after witnessing the assault at a stairwell. hernandez will be sentenced next month. the state senate public safety committee unanimously approved a bill that makes it illegal to smuggle cell phone numbers into bars. if the bill is approved, inmates caught with phones will receive extra time. the glass molders and pottery union says they are being asked to pay about 10% of

the rose for silican valley. >> reporter: tech specialist rob enderle says that solar power announced an extension of 400 jobs in texas. still the jobs in silican valley are growing. more than 14,000 behind san diego which gained 16,000. sacramento lost the most jobs 14,500. steve wright was the silican valley leader group says that more companies are being entized to expand elsewhere. >> we know several companies where the difference between the incentives from these states and the low cost of living in those states means the company can hire instead of

cruz harbor for boating. at 5:00, the coast guard allowed a safety restriction to expire. that decision came after a scan of the harbor sea floor found no more obstructions to navigations, so good news for boaters there. we've been hearing more wild and wet weather coming to the bay area. it's here, let's check in now with our chief meteorologist bill martin in the weather system. >> next couple of days it's going to be wet out there. your commutes are going to be impacted tomorrow morning and thursday morning. the rain moving offshore now. this rainfall is moving in right now. not impacting your commute. well some people it might be. most of the commuters have gone about their business. hopefully you won't have any problems moving through. as we head into the overnight hours we're going to see more rain into wednesday morning. that's why the national weather service has issued a flood flash watch for basically everybody. what they are saying is the

ground is saturated. if we get an inch of rain, you're going to have standing water on roadways for your wednesday morning commute. the headline here is commute. wednesday morning and then again thursday morning. wednesday morning is right in the heart of this thing. so is thursday morning in the heart of the next one that moves in. so the forecast then as we go into wednesday and thursday. rain, showers, even thundershowers. so here's how it shows up, tonight at 10:00 we've got rain moving in. it's picking up a little bit. computer model takes us into 5:00 a.m. that's the heaviest part of the rain. the roads are wet. they'll be standing water, this is your commute for wednesday morning. we get a break wednesday afternoon. we get to 5:00 wednesday. the roads are wet but not a bad afternoon commute. but then overnight thursday into thursday morning, we get into it again. okay so right now the commutes are right in the heart of this. the forecast for thursday afternoon more scattered showers. and just unsettled weather continues. you see the mountains they barely get a break. you can see two to 3 feet of

the city by the bay is attracting bigger crowds. the san francisco travel association said today the number of visitors jumped 3%. tourism spending increased more than 6%. mark ibanez here with the latest on the beard. a lot of fans were worried about him. >> yeah, opponents fear the beard and giant fans fear anything at all negative happening to bryan wilson.

ie an injury and i was down there this past weekend. the word in the press box saturday was that bryan wilson had suffered a strained oblique. if you know the history of that injury it takes about 30 days to heal. updated status now diagnosed as just a mild side strain in his left side actually. he will be ready for opening day which believe it or not is just a week from thursday. meantime, lots of giants having a good spring and most notably aubrey huff. he had 26 homers last year. great guy in the middle of the line up. solid spring once again, likes what he sees so far. the team lots of interchangeable parts and lots of versatility again. >> we can mix and match, go from place to place. it's not really going to matter to us. i honestly don't care if i play first ever game or after every game. i can switch every game. it will hurt my golden glove chances but that's more of an
