highway. at&t has gotten the lines off of the freeway and the chp has opened up all of the lanes. we have a ktvu news crew stuck in traffic. they say it's moving less than 2-miles-an-hour. san francisco's police chief says misconduct allegations against his offices just are not -- his officers just are not true. ktvu has obtained six different surveillance videos like this one. dozens of criminal cases have been dropped as a result. ktvu's david stevenson is live at the hall of justice where today the police chief fought back against the accusations, david. >> reporter: this latest investigation involving undercover -- plain clothed officers and surveillance tape prompted strong defense from top police officials. >> well trained officers who did a good job. and then they watched

themselves on television and they feel bad about it. >> reporter: the captain heading san francisco's richmond station today defended these of his plain clothed officers. seen entering a garage just prior to making a marijuana bust. >> these officers if my mom called the police, these are the ones i would want to go. >> reporter: a judge dismissed the case yesterday after the san francisco public defenners office said the -- defender's office said officers lied. >> this is the same thing barry bonds is being tried for. lying with consequences. >> reporter: 75 cases have already been dropped this year and at least seven officers are under investigation after surveillance videos raised questions about raids and possible police perjury. >> clearly we have a situation where not only isolated officers are not telling the truth. but we have groups of officers are being untruthful.

>> these allegations, this kind of misconduct has been going on rampant across the city. bring it to our attention and we'll deal with it. you can't keep crying that the sky is falling when it's not. >> richmond station, the plain clothed unit will not be shut down. i went to talk to officers yesterday, it's business as usual. >> reporter: the officers seen in this surveillance video face administrative investigation but remain on duty. it'll be at least another couple of weeks until we know who is going to take over as san francisco's new police chief. that's the word from mayor ed lee who will choose the next chief. the city's police commission has given him a short list of three candidates it recommends. in the barry bonds perjury

of the back door. the owner of this house says he was shocked at the the landslide. but as we learned today this area has long been known as an unstable zone. six homes are yellow tagged, unsafe to be occupied because of last week's landslide. this home belongs to leon walker it's just perched understood beneath the slide. >> i'm devastated. >> reporter: but arthur is not talking about the landslide. he's talking about these pictures shone today at city hall which shows another landslide in 1964. walker says if he had known, he wouldn't have bought this home. >> you would have had an interview with a different person. it wouldn't have been me, because i would have ran. >> reporter: the city says it is not responsible to inform home buyers but that it will investigate the matter. >> that's a part of the record

road for more than 30 homes cut off by the rock slide last week. santa cruz county public works officials say the work is expected to be finished by the ends of the week. a permanent fix will still be needed. near morgan hill this afternoon, crews cleared the debris from a mud slide. but vehicles are not allowed through yet because of a utility wire on the road. residents have been trapped blind the mud? unis county since last creek. residents say the creek overflowed last week and washed away 15 feet of land in mountain view. three mobile homes there are now red tagged. in hercules, the red cross is offering help for four families after a landslide. ktvu.com has complete coverage of the bay area

landslides. you will also find a geological map of slide prone areas. just click on the landslides tab. federal authorities want sonoma county to return $2 million in disaster funding stemming from major flooding back in 2006. fema provided funding including to the county dam. but plopper contract procedure -- but proper contract procedures were not followed. fema has determined the cost and work performed were within the agency's guidelines. the audit was conducted by the inspectors office. and a cow slaughtered for beef was found to have radio active intoxication. they said the level of contamination was slightly higher than the league limit. officials stress the beef was never put on the market. in about an hour, a vigil

some east bay firefighters are working tonight with a heavy heart. a woman who has served as an inspiration for years lost her battle with cancer. ktvu's rob roth joins us now. he has more on the remarkable life of cora green, rob. >> reporter: julie, to the oakland firefighters, police officers, and perhaps the thousands of people she helped feed and clothe cora green was like a mother. in fact, everyone just called her mom. firefighters still have their

job to do today, but they said they are doing it in sadness. >> she was playful. she was respectful. she was just a wonderful lady. she was our mom. >> reporter: cora mom green died last night of cancer. she was 77 years old. for the past 35 years, mom green provided food, clothes, school supplies and motherly love to whoever needed it whenever they needed it. >> i used to worry that, oh my god she's doing so much, it's going to be overwhelming. but i didn't realize for her, it wasn't overwhelming it was what kept her going. >> reporter: she was about to receive a lifetime achievement award. >> it's what mother teresa said, it's not what you do, it's the love you put into it. >> she was inspiration, she was a person who could put a smile on your face if you weren't having the best of days. >> reporter: cora green began

as a nurse. when she suffered a seizue, firefighters saved her. after that, her and papa green went to thank the firefighters. and that's when she devoted her life to helping. >> we can tell you ceremonial fire engine will drive her casket and she will receive a firefighters farewell. cora mom green would be the first civilian in oakland to receive such an honor. rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. some california republican lawmakers are on the defensive tonight saying their actions this week did not prompt governor jerry brown to call

off budget cuts. >> this was an honest attempt to try to make sure we are all on the same page. to make sure that we're all starting at the same point. >> reporter: the governor has released the list of the concessions he's made. it shows 12 proposed fixes to the pension system including a pension benefit cap. the pension fund for california's teachers reported today is facing a $56 billion shortfall over the next 30 years. a spokesman said public school teachers contribute 8% of their salaries to the retirement fund. the state contributes 2%. but the fund took a 25% hit during the recession. it must now increase the amount the state pays into the fund until there's enough money to meet it obligations. it will take californians two additional days to earn enough to cover their tax bill this year. californians won't reach tax freedom day until april 16th. that's two days later than last year. it's also four days later than

the national average of april 12th. the national weather service is cautioning some farmers in the central valley to watch out for water seeping. seepage starts at the 21-foot mark. the river was almost at that point this morning. no flooding though is expected. well on to our weather now. what more can you say? absolutely perfect out there. over to our chief meteorologist bill martin, just how you called it bill. >> beautiful day, some areas were a little cooler than the north bay. most of us warmed up a bit. out in oakland it was just beautiful. temperature there, it was warm lots of low 80s. folks enjoying the sunshine. look at some of the records we had. there's your old record and there's your new number.

oakland downtown 83 degrees. the old record was 80 degrees. san francisco downtown tied the old record at 82 degrees. 84 in san mateo. highs tomorrow will be slightly cooler. taás because there'll be a few more clouds -- that's because there'll be a few more clouds. cooler toward the weekend with maybe a chance of a sprinkle. this high pressure is weakening as we speak. by saturday this weak weather system gets close to us and it'll bring breezy conditions on saturday. maybe a sprinkle. main impact will be temperatures not in the 80s but in the 60s. mid-60s for the most part. saturday and sunday will be kind of mild too. a nice weekend over all. the computer model kind of airs this out. there's a few clouds in the valley. the green, weather system driving south of here. 6:00a.m.

on friday. watch the clouds right here. they start to fill in. instead of winds going this way. the winds are coming out of the west. that's the change. and here comes that chance of wet weather. saturday morning at 7:00 a.m., so the sprinkles possible. this is not a game changer right now. just looks like enough to cool temperatures. maybe give you some drizzle. maybe require a jacket at events out saturday morning. but by afternoon that should clear out. that's how it looks now. this model will change, as they change several times a day. but we'll watch it again tomorrow. tonight's solution will be closer than what we can expect. the forecast for saturday and sunday, saturday chance of sprinkle, clouds, saturday is your best day. forecast highs and plenty of them. these temperatures cooler than they were today. no records expected for tomorrow. temperatures still above the average for the most part. so really a heck of an idealic schedule. couldn't get better than that
