here in the bay area. the details on news conferences set in just a couple hours from now. >> reporter: it is pupping season. that means humans will be coming in contact with these guys on the beach. what you should do if it happens to you. and a tough loss for the giants against the dodgers. why some are still calling last night's game a win for fans. it's all ahead on the ktvu morning news. well, good morning to you. welcome to tuesday. it's april 12th. i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm maureen naylor. pam cook is off today. let's get right to weather and traffic. for that we turn to rosemary nor if steve. good morning to you. clearing out in the overnight hours and starting out mostly clear and cool this morning. we're going to have sunshine for the afternoon. most of us will be sitting in the 60s. breeze will kick up for the afternoon as well. anywhere from 15 to 20 miles per hour little closer to the coast. some of us only getting to

about 59 for the second half of the day. we'll take a look at your afternoon temperatures and your morning cool down coming up in just a few moments. sal. all right. right now on interstate 880 the traffic is moving well past the coliseum. it is getting a lot more crowded though as you drive around the bay area. and if you are driving on interstate 680 out of pleasanton watch for slowing there. we'll run that down for you in just a moment. northbound 101 approaching the 80 split looks good in san francisco. 6:00 let's go back to dave and maureen. all right, sal. we're still following a developing story coming from concord. a homicide investigation is underway. police found the body inside of a home on bedford road near lexington road. ktvu's jade hernandez is there now. and, jade, i understand there's new information, right? >> reporter: well, dave, we do have new information at this hour. we can tell you that concord is investigating this as a homicide investigation. they have the yellow crime tape up around the home where this homicide happened last night. now concord police told us that this involved one victim. but we've just witnessed two

bodies being loaded up into the medical examiner's van. as i mentioned earlier, police are not looking for any suspects this morning. but they did tell us this was a homicide investigation. we have now just learned two bodies have been loaded up into the medical examiner's van. this is the latest that we know at this hour. concord police went door to door to every home on this block. they asked neighbors what they saw and heard. and within the past hour as i mentioned, the medical examiner has arrived. now the m.e. will take the bodies away as soon as the detectives wrap up this investigation here at the scene. this home is located on bedford between belmont and lexington road in concord. you're going to hear from a resident in a few moment who is lives right next to where this investigation continues at this hour. first this is what we know right now. this might be a homicide related to a domestic dispute. that might explain why this is being ruled as a homicide investigation with only one victim. police are not looking for any suspects, but they are ruling this a homicide. police dispatch received a call for help at a home along the

2300 block of bedford road around 8:30 last night. concord police at this point won't say how the person died, whether the victim was a man or woman, age or name of the victim. but a neighbor explained to us this morning she believes a woman owns the home where police were called last night. that woman has two children. one of which an older son who stays with her. the son's girlfriend also resides at the home. the young woman we spoke to seemed very surprised there would be problems next door. >> i noticed around 9:00 p.m. and like there were all there was just cops and then ambulance, firefighters, we heard everything. and then we just found outside. [ indiscernible ] it was kind of weird. >> reporter: now police have been very tight lipped about this investigation this morning. but we've been told more information is expected to be released this afternoon. and anyone with information in this case is to call the department. i want to bring you back out live. the medical examiner van they're just now wrapping up. as i mentioned earlier two bodies being taken into that van. the medical examiner arrived

about an hour ago. keep checking in with us for the latest here in concord and we'll keep you updated. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:03. more details come today about a nevada man suspected of four murders around northern california including in marin. 77-year-old joseph naso in the marin county jail booked on suspicion of four counts of murder. he was arrested yesterday after being released from another county jail where he'd been held on unrelated charges. investigators say the homicides occurred in 1977, 197, 1993 and 1994. at least one of the killings was in marin and involved a woman. now the marin county sheriff's department has scheduled an 11:00 news conference. the what show county, nevada, sheriff's department will also hold a briefing. we'll bring you complete coverage on the ktvu channel 2 news at noon. time is 6:04. this week congress still has to pass the spending plan that

overted a government shutdown with $40 billion in spending cuts, it's the biggest slice of the federal budget in u.s. history. coming up at 6:15 we'll have a live report with the budget's winners and losers. the giants continue their three game series against the dodgers tonight at at&t park. first pitch at 7:05. and security is once again expected to be tight. last night san francisco police had an increased presence at the first game in the series. it was all in response to the attack against giants fan bryan stow outside dodgers stadium last month. the giants dedicated last night's game to stow and both giants and dodger fans contributed to a relief fund set up for the paramedic and his family. >> as a dodger fan it's really embarrassing to the rest of us that this actually happened. primarily it's just a group of dodger fans who really they get rowdy, go to the games, not really there for the actual base # baseball. >> we've learned fans contributed $50,000 last night for stow's medical fund. the dodgers held their own

fundraiser for bryan stow. they brought in about $61,000. the fans arrived at the dodgers stadium parking lot yesterday donating money to stow's medical fund. this is the same location where the giants fan suffered that very serious attack last month. the two men who attacked bryan stow, they're still on the run this morning. meantime, bryan stow's doctors say he hasn't shown any improvement, however, more tests are ahead. your time is 6:05. it's pupping season at beaches throughout california. and in the bay area dozens of baby seal pups have already been rescued. ktvu's kraig debro is live in sausalito with a very important message from the marine mammal center. good morning, kraig. >> reporter: yeah, good morning, maureen. usually when we're here we're dealing with seal pups. but in this instance there are a few elephant pups. look at this pen right here. it is pupping season. you're going to see color on their heads. each of these seal pups is named and they have the colors so they can tell who they are

while they're in the pool. pupping season basically means it's the time of year when people and marine mammals libel haven't seals and sea lions meet up on the beach more often. mothers abandon it, mother been victim of predator or maybe waiting around the corner waiting for a chance to go get its pup. so marine mammal center says don't go and pick up the pup and take it home or put it back in the water. you should call them at 289- seal and they'll get one of their volunteers out. somebody with expertise. now this particular year these seal pups are coming in a little underweight. here we go. >> you can actually see the folds in the skin and so forth. every year these animals are coming in here. the main reasons why these animals get rescued is because of mall nourishment ultimate as a result of abandonment. but what we're seeing is in addition to the mall nourishment they're really, really skinny. that can cause medical issues

as well. >> reporter: typically these are about 70 to 75 pounds. but take a look at this. now this is an adult male elephant seal. that's the sign right there. look at this. those seal pups grow up to be this size about 4500 pounds. look at this. this is me standing next to it. clearly i'm not quite 4500 pounds although some would say i'm close to that. but this is what they should be and hopefully with the help of the marine mammal center some of those pups will grow up to be this size. we're going to have more from here including how you can get involved later this week at the center. reporting live in sausalito, kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:08. this morning chp has a new lead in the investigation of a deadly hit-and-run accident. they're still out there searching for the driver of a 2009 toyota corolla that killed a pedestrian crossing 280 in daly city early sunday morning. investigators also looking for the car's registered owner 78-

year-old george of south san francisco. chp doesn't think he was responsible for the deadly crash. but he may lead them to the hit- and-run driver. muni meantime is reviewing security tape. it's investigating an incident that could cost a bus driver his job. today's examiner reports it happened saturday on the 24 line in san francisco. several passengers complained after watching the driver scream at a couple that tried to board the bus with their child in a stroller. they say the bus driver then ordered the family to get off his bus. muni hasn't identified that driver. the driver had only been on the job for six months. right now it's 89 after 6:00. let's get right to sal. more people hitting the roads right now. a few more problems out there. sal, what's the latest? that's right, maureen. we have more traffic out there. so any little thing is magnified further. let's go outside. i want to remember to point this out for you southbound 680 at bern el this accident is

there. and the traffic is still recovering. you can see though that coming out of the dublin area heading south we are still seeing slow traffic because of the emergency vehicles on that scene. so this is going to be an unexpected delay for you. 580 through livermore also going to be okay. let's move along to live pictures westbound bay bridge still looks pretty good coming up to the toll plaza. and no problems on the upper deck of the bay bridge. and this morning if you are driving on interstate 880 in either direction here in front of the coliseum the traffic is moving well. filling in for steve, it's rosemary. good morning to you. half hour to the sunrise. and coming into some of the coolest temperatures of the morning. 38 right now santa rosa. upper 40s san francisco. 49 oakland. hayward partly to mostly cloudy and 50 at this time. redwood city at 41. that's six degrees chillier than just yesterday. so notably cooler getting outside your door. satellite view showing you a nice view of that weak system that brought us the clouds. now off to the south and east. this is the next system that will pull in in time for

wednesday and bring us another chance of scattered clouds. for today we're going to be right in between. we're going to be mostly clear. we're going to be warmer. could be a little breezy in the afternoon. that system coming tomorrow looks a little more organized than yesterday. but still scattered showers in the forecast north bay getting the most of it and it could be just a few one-hundredths. little cool, little breezy expected for your wednesday. afternoon highs for today seasonal, a little cool in some cases but not bad at all. you may not need a jacket but maybe keep the pants. no shorts. 66 concord. 61 oakland. and 60 in san francisco. especially if it's breezy outside your door. 63 in fremont. 66 expected losgato and 60 for san jose. extended forecast typical for spring. mildweter and shot at some rain thursday and friday we begin a drying trend into the weekend. and our temperatures are going to climb as well. 63 expected for your thursday. upper 60s for the last business day of the week.

and then very comfortable into the weekend. a pretty fabulous forecast there. weekend looking partly cloudy, mostly sunny and sitting in the low 70s. time is 6:11. in japan they've raised the crisis level at the damaged nuclear plant from a5 to a7. the highest level on an international scale. japanese nuclear regulators say they raised the rating following new assessments of radiation leaks from the plant. the new rating puts the crisis in japan on the same level as the 1986 chernobyl disaster. leaking radiation has contaminated the air, tap water, vegetables, milk and sea water there. tonight here in the bay area there will be a panel discussion on the japanese nuclear crisis in berkeley. it features three scientists from the lawrence berkeley national lab. it begins at 7:00 at the david brower center on allston way. time now 6:12. on capitol hill some democrats and republicans say they're not going to vote for the spending plan that prevented that government shutdown. we will bring you live report

good morning to you. welcome back. time now 6:15. federal government agencies and some local programs are bracing for some big cuts now that we know what's in that budget deal that presented that government shutdown.

the details came out overnight. and ktvu's allison burns is live in our washington d.c. newsroom to tell us what is on the chopping block. allison. >> reporter: dave, nearly $40 billion will be cut from this year's budget on a wide range of federal government programs and services. we've been going through the numbers and compiled a list of some of the biggest winners and losers here. let's take a look at the losers. high speed rail projects lose almost $3 billion in federal funding. highway construction loses another $3 billion. and programs to prevent sexually transmitted diseases lose another $1 billion. as for the winners, the only two departments that saw an overall increase in spending were the pentagon and department of veterans affairs. education programs like race to the top and head start are also getting a boost. the cuts to the environmental protection agency and the food safety inspection service were just half of what republicans

had originally proposed. so we do expect to hear a lot of grumbling today from republicans who say the cuts are not enough. democrats who say they go too far. the voting starts tomorrow. reporting live from washington d.c., allison burns, ktvu channel 2 news. time is 6:16. two american troops were killed in afghanistan by friendly fire from a drone aircraft. they were apparently mistaken for insurgents. it's believed to be the first case of u.s. troops killed by a drone. in libya there are now concerns the battle between supporters of moammar gadafi and the rebels who want to kick him out is at a stalemate. about one-third of the government troop's ground armor has been destroyed by u.s. and nato air strikes. but both sides remain in their fixed positions unable to advance. rejected a cease fire proposal by african mediators because it didn't insist the libyan leader give up power. new york police think they've found more remains that

may be traced to a serial killer who is still out there on the loose. investigators now have located a ninth possibly a tenth body. dozens of officers you see them here they're scouring a remote part of long island near where the original eight bodies were found. all of the victim have said women. police began searching the area after a 24-year-old prostitute disappeared after she agreed to meet a client she met on craigslist at the long island beach. back here at home san jose city workers will gather today. they'll demonstrate against mayor reed's call for pension reform. now the mayor has blamed san jose's deficit on rising retirement and pension costs. however some city employees say that's not the case. those workers say they're being unfairly blamed for the budget problems. they'll be holding a forum at noontime today to talk about what they feel can be done to help close that budget gap. also in san jose today the city council will vote for a

$120 million expansion for the city's convention center. now this project would add 125,000 square feet to the already existing 425,000 square foot building. san jose officials hope this project would attract more conventions and more money to the city. the existing conventions that are opened in the 1989. time is 6:18. a free perk could soon disappear at a north bay shopping mall. the press democrat reports the company that owns the santa rosa plaza wants to start charging for parking. the group claims too many people who work in downtown santa rosa are taking advantage of its free parking right now. taking away prime spots from customers. the city council will discuss the issue at its meeting next week where it will likely call for a study to be done. all right. time now 6:19. let's get you to where you need to go. sal, it seems reluctantly quiet this morning. >> oh, but, dave, just underneath the surface. you too, listen, maureen. >> something lurking.

>> things are getting heavy. i was just being a little overly dramatic. i'm not that far off. this is about time when you start seeing things get just a little busier. i'll tell you why. 680 remember we had that earlier crash on 680 and the traffic is going to be held up a little bit. and this is exactly when you're going to start seeing some slow traffic coming up to this area driving to the south bay. also the morning commute is going to be busier at the bay bridge. you may not be able to tell right now but metering lights should be able to go on any time soon and should see back ups at the toll plaza. driving on the east shore freeway getting here from vallejo to pin ole and richmond you'll see slow traffic here and there on 80 westbound. and on the freeway between hayward and fremont traffic still looks okay. at 6:20. let's go to rosemary. good morning to you. a chilly start out there this morning. maybe grab a jacket as you get out the door. bundle up the kids. it's not going to be a bad day but cool through the morning hours. and for the afternoon we'll be

they're fueling shelve ron's bottom line. the oil company says it will post a higher first quarter profit compared to the fourth quarter of last year. this is due to outlook for exploration and production which has risen with oil prices. so far they say they're up more than 30% since mid-february. verizon is confirming it will no longer offer a one year contract option as of april 17th. the wireless company says the policy change is happening because most customers are opting for two year contracts. there is word however they may introduce a month to month prepaid plan offering unlimited voice and text for $50 a month. data plans though would cost extra. all right. time now 6:22. a zoo battle in berlin. why this one focuses on the remains of a beloved polar bear. and what jerry brown plans on doing today in the bay area on his 100th day as california's governor. good morning. if you're driving any time soon on highway 24 you are going to

metering lights went on. big crowd especially in the fast track lanes. 6:25. back to the desk. all right. we have developing news right now. we're watching san francisco. and this is what's happening right now. take you live if we can. now, look at this. you can read for yourself. this is a matter over a building right there, a vacant building. you see someone standing on a balcony. this is the location police are getting ready to move in on a group of homeless rights protesters who have taken over and occupied this building. we're looking at this live. now what they're doing they're trying to draw attention to san francisco's housing and homeless crisis. see the police out in front. see some of the people gathered in front. and they've been in there for some time and they've got blankets covering themselves. we're told police are going to make arrests of those folks within the next couple hours. some of the officers went into the building last night, but at that point they said it wasn't safe enough to make arrests at

that time. again, police are back out there right now. we hear they may go in around 9:00 this morning. we'll be there with our cameras. we'll be live to see what happens and bring you the information as it comes in. in other news right now, some people are calling for a zoo in berlin to abandon their plans to stuff and put on display the body of the beloved polar bear. he died suddenly last month at only four years old. he became a household name around the world after his mother rejected him at birth. and zoo care givers raised him. zoo is planning to have his remains stuffed and put on display at berlin's natural museum of history. but last week polar bear fans protested. they've demanded that he have a proper burial. your time is 6:27. today's governor jerry brown's 100th day in office. he'll be spending part of the day here in the bay area. the governor will be in millipedes where he'll sign legislation requiring california's power companies to

get one-third of their energy from renewable sources. that's the latest move by the governor in the last 100 days. he's already signed 13 bills in hopes of reducing california's deficit. experts say the governor still has a lot more work to do. >> only half of the equation is complete. that's the cuts that he and the democrats and some republicans have agreed to. there's a significant piece of that equation that's missing so far. and that's revenue. how are you going to -- >> the governor's still working to get temporary taxes extended possibly through a september special election. time now 6:28. the jury in the barry bonds trial goes back to work in about two hours. why some predict the verdict could come today. also the opening bell's about to ring on wall street. we'll bring you the early stock numbers.

good morning. welcome back. opening bell just rang on wall street. and currently stock futures pointing to a lower open. latest numbers we've seen coming in just kind of a slight drop dow down about 2, nasdaq down 15. s&p 500 down four in this early trading. we will smile and say good morning to you. thank you for joining us here on the ktvu morning news tuesday april 12th. i'm dave clark. morning. i'm maureen naylor in for pam cook. the time is 6:30. detectives are still on the scene of a homicide in concord. in the last 30 minutes we learned two bodies have been taken from the home. ktvu channel 2 reporter jade hernandez has been on the scene all morning long. she joins us live with more on the very latest developments. good morning, jade. >> reporter: despite that, concord police have ruled this homicide investigation involving only one victim. we can show you this morning police are still out here. we've been told they aren't looking for any other suspects. but half an hour ago we watched as officers loaded a second

body into the medical examiner's van which leads us to believe if investigators aren't looking for a suspect in this case this could be a murder-suicide. this is what we know from neighbors so far this morning. concord police have gone door to door asking residents if they saw or heard anything last night around 8:30. that's when police dispatch received a call for help to a home along the 2300 block of bedford road. when police arrived they discovered a body. detectives won't release who or how the victim was killed orache if the victim was a man or woman. neighbors have helped us piece together this. the home in question is owned by a woman with two older children. the oldest son has a girlfriend who also lives at the home. the next door neighbor told us the only time she saw neighbors saw police come to the home was when a woman had a heart attack. >> after we saw that all the police around here it was a cop that knocked at our door and he was asking questions. that's when i knew it was serious. >> reporter: we've been told more information is expected to

be released this afternoon. and we'll keep you posted on any changes in this investigation detectives pass along to us. reporting live in concord this morning, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. time is 6:32. in just two hours jurors in the barry bonds perjury trial will begin their third day of deliberations. some legal experts predict their verdict could come down by the end of the day saying it's a matter of counting the number of weeks in the closely watched perjury trial. the jury heard three weeks of testimony. >> normal rule of thumb sometimes trial lawyers say a day of deliberation for every week of trial. >> yesterday the jury listened back to the testimony of bonds' personal shopper and childhood friend. she testified she saw bonds receive an injection from his former trainer, greg anderson. bonds is accused of lying under oath when he told a grand jury he never knowingly used steroids. we have a special section on the bonds trial online. it includes court documents and

complete details on the steroid scandal. find all that information by going to ktvu.com and clicking on the bonds trial tab. time now 6:33. the trial into the chauncey bailey murder continues today in oakland. the jury is now heard recordings of several jailhouse phone calls made by bailey's confessed killer. prosecutors claim those phone calls helped prove he shot bailey on the orders of yusuf bey the fourth. bey is the former leader of the now defunct your black muslim bakery and accused of ordering bailey's death because of a negative story the journalist was writing about the story. this is sentencing day for the palo alto ho coo bar owner convicted of killing his girlfriend. he is facing a possible life sentence when he goes before a judge this afternoon. two months ago a jury found him guilty of strangling his girlfriend and setting fire to their palo alto home in 2009. prosecutors say the couple had a long history of domestic

violence. time is 6:34. pupping season is underway. and bay area beach visitors are being reminded to keep their distance. ktvu's kraig debro is live in sausalito where seal pups are currently being cared for. >> reporter: good morning. it is pupping season. behind me in the background you can hear a lot of pupping noises. noises made by the pups here. it doesn't mean it's the season when new pups come into the world. it means we're seeing an increasing number of pups on the beach. they're about four to six weeks old. each one found on the beach about 600 miles. each one also has colors on their heads put there by staff members. they do it so other staff can tell which is which. especially if they are under water. this year's batch of elephant seals and sea lions is unusual alerting why they'll see more

each year during february and may during pupping season. >> these animals wean from their moms about four to six weeks. at that stage moms take off for whatever reason whether human interaction or something happens to them in the wild. many times these pups are left alone. and they're really left to fend for themselves. >> reporter: the pups here at the marine mammal center about 70 to 75 pounds. that's about 10 to 15 pounds under what they normally would be. adult males are supposed to get up to 4500 pounds. marine mammal center rescues hundreds of marine mammals each year. but this year for the first time they're helping humans watch on thursday. the center is giving free blood and cholesterol screening that is thursday here at the center. they say if you see a pup on the beach you're supposed to call 415-285-seal. coming up on mornings on 2 we'll have information on how to get involved in rescuing seals. reporting live in sausalito. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:36. let's talk traffic now.

sal, what's happening on the roads? you know, right now things are getting more crowded all over the place as you can see traffic -- i'll show it to you. traffic at the toll plaza all of a sudden backed up to the middle of the apartment. and metering lights are on. little more crowded. nothing undo able. about an eight minute delay. nice look at northbound 101 approaching the 80 split. traffic looks nice. if you're driving out to the south bay on 880 let's say you're driving on 880 south, traffic looks good. but i want to move the map over to the right. we had an earlier crash on 680 near bern al avenue. that's gone but traffic is still very slow from 685 at the interchange heading south on the son roll grade. 6:37. let's go to rosemary. few minutes away from official sunrise. and many of us shining bright with sunny skies. we've got a little bit of low cloud cover out there this morning. on shore breeze blowing through san francisco as well as

oakland. you can see it anywhere here from 8 to 9 miles per hour. not bad but it is cool out there. you have to consider the windchill factor that as we move through the afternoon. we could begin to see our temperatures climb. for now a chilly start. widespread upper 30s low 40s in the forecast outside your door at this hour. your satellite view we are mostly clear outside of just those few clouds hanging along the coastline. that system that brought us all the clouds now off to the south and east. we continue to watch a new storm as it continues to make its way towards our area. we'll migrate along the coast by tomorrow and for the afternoon we will be partly to mostly cloudy. even the possibility of a few scattered showers. for today not too bad. mostly sunny skies expected. we could be a little breezy at times. take a look at your forecast. through tuesday no problems here. we will see clouds approaching the area in the overnight hours. you can already see the rain here to the north of us by the early morning. sliding down across the area it looks like by 11:00 or so on wednesday we could see a few scattered showers popping up over the north bay.

we'll bring you latest details as we get them into our ktvu newsroom. also tonight security will again be tight at at&t park. the giants and the dodgers play again in their three game series. the tight security all in response to last month's attack against giants fan bryan stow outside of dodgers stadium. last night san francisco police were very visible, very evident, at the ballpark. time is 6:44. this morning homicide detectives in the san francisco are investigatorring the death of a 16-year-old boy. last hour ktvu's allie rasmus was at the bayview neighborhood police station. she's now moved to the school where the young victim attended classes in san francisco. allie. >> reporter: well, maureen, initially police thought the death of 16-year-old andy could have been a suicide, but, yesterday, police told school district officials here in san francisco and administrators at thurgood marshal high school that the student's death was suspicious. as you mentioned homicide investigators are now on the case. he was a sophomore here at the

high school. a school district spokeswoman who i talked to on the phone about 15 minutes ago told us today the school will have grief counseling available for students who were friends with him and anyone in the student body who may need it. the 16-year-old's body was found in a home in san francisco's silver terrace neighborhood. police aren't telling us how he may have died. but they did arrest a 15-year- old on murder charges. three other teens between the ages of 15 and 18 were also arrested. they were arrested for attempted arson and conspiracy. and according to police the arson charges are because police discovered either gasoline or kerosene some sort of incendiary fluid poured near the murder scene. san francisco's unified school district spokesperson say they don't know if the four other teens arrested were also students in the school district, but police say right now they're looking for a fifth

teenager who may be connected to the murder. live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. the time is 6:46. japan's nuclear safety agency has raised the severity rating at the damaged nuclear plant from a5 to a7 which is the highest on the international scale. the new 7 rating puts the crisis in japan on the same level as the 1986 chernobyl disaster. leaking radiation has contaminated the air, tap water, vegetables, milk and sea water there. and there are new questions this morning about the safety of one of california's nuclear power plants. pg&e says it wants to do more safety studies at diablo canyon. the plant says within three miles of two faults. pg&e asked federal regulators to delay issues an operating license extension until the utility does comprehensive quake risk assessment. more than 400,000 people live within 50 miles of the diablo canyon plant. time now 6:47.

southern california emergency workers will take part in an emergency drill today at the nuclear power plant. this drill is something that's done every two years, but this year plant officials think there's a lot of interest from the public because of that nuclear disaster in japan. the sirens will blare. 300 emergency workers from los angeles to san diego will simulate how they would respond during a radiation leak. >> we've worked hard at it. we have a plan. we work the plan. i think we're ready to swing into action. >> now the drill begins this morning. it will continue through thursday. the workers will test emergency shutdown procedures. the plant by the way has never had a radiation leak in its 42 year history. time is 6:48. let's get over to sal. some of the latest problems including 680 and toll plaza getting busier. >> that's right. as a matter of fact traffic has been getting busy all over the place. we just found out about a new crash in antioch eastbound 4

welcome back. time is 6:55. one of the world's largest passenger planes is grounded right now after its wing clipped the tail of another jet. this is new video of the air france air bus 380 as it sits at new york's jfk airport this morning. that jet was taxiing to the runway for takeoff last night when it hit the tail of a delta airlines plane that had just landed. >> the plane shake very, very violently. next thing you were told to hurry out of the plane.

>> officials say no one was hurt in that incident. time now 6:55. oakland police are telling ktvu a man was shot overnight while sitting in a car. and he has died from his injuries. police were called to golf links road about 7:30 last night by a man who told them his friend had been shot. the unidentified victim was rushed to highland hospital. that is where he died. police aren't giving us much as far as details are concerned. you can see from our camera crew at the scene there was evidence of dozens of shots around that car. also in a separate incident an oakland man was shot by two men who broke into his home. this happened about 9:30 last night on parker avenue. the victim was able to crawl to a neighbor's house. that neighbor called the police. the victim was shot in the chest. we don't know his condition now. your time is 6:56. some job seekers are using bart billboards for some extra exposure. 18 members of an east bayonetworking group shelled
