crucial time for these creatures who have lost their mothers. good morning to you. i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. it's tuesday, april 12th. we are continuing to follow overnight news from concord. two bodies were pulled from a home on bedford road just about an hour ago. now police are trying to figure out how those two people died. jade hernandez is live with what we've learned about this case so far. goodgood morning, jade. >> reporter: good morning. i can tell you detectives have been out here for hours. officers loaded a second body into their van, but they are not saying if this was a murder-

suicide. concord police have been going door to door to ask residents if they have heard anything or saw anything. when police arrived, they discovered a body at the resident. >> i noticed cops and the ambulance and we came outside and -- it was kind of weird. >> reporter: we've been told more information is expected to be released by the concord police department this afternoon. we will keep you posted on any changes of the investigation that's passed along with us. jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news.

to draw attention to san francisco's housing crisis. these are live pictures of the building. you can see some manners hanging from the side and also some people hanging outside, camped out on the steps it looks like. police plan to make arrests within the next few hours, possibly before 9:00. we'll continue to follow this story during the next two hours on "mornings on 2." a legal fight could be brewing in mountain view after a crumbling hillside left three homes teetering on the edge of collapse. last month, stevens creek overflowed the banks eroding a hillside near the saw ha raw village mobile -- sa har -- sahara village mobile home park. the residents there want their mobile homes moved at their cost. a monterey county woman has been arrested for leaving her

children at work. this was at king city park on sunday. she left the three children alone at kin that park for three hours. she was arrested on child endangerment. 77-year-old joseph naso was booked on suspicion of four uncounts of murder. he's in the marin county jail. he was arrested yesterday after being in the el dorado county jail arrested on unreap lated charges -- unrelated charges. one of the killing involved a -- one of the kill -- killings involved a woman.

we'll bring you more on this on the news at noon. 7:50. san francisco police want to beef up security at city clubs but owners are resisting the extra muscle. a hearing will be held tonight that would require all club visitors to have their i.d. scabbed and go through a metal detector. this pro would be filmed on security -- process would be filmed on security cameras. 7:05. well, it's pupping season at beaches all over california. dozens of baby seals have been rescued from bay area beaches. kraig debro is live where a crucial part of that rehab process is just about to start, right, kraig? >> reporter: that's right, dave. right inside the gate here, the staff is feeding the elephant seals. they were brought here by pupping season. pupping season is between february and may, when pups get

separated from their mothers. they sort of timed this for us. jim's here to explain why this is such a crucial part of their upbringing. this isn't just a demonstration. this is crucial to the survival. >> this is what we call a fish school. these mammals don't really know how to eat after they are weaned after four to six weeks. what happens is, they don't know what a fish is. so here at the marin mammal center, you can see the volunteers are using tongs to position the food. the animals -- >> so they got separated from their mother. but these guys are eating fish. but you still need to teach them how to do that. it seems like an instinctual thing. >> yes. and once they start to do that, they are on the road to recovery and during the pupping

season, we will feed these animals around 1,000 pounds of fish total. we go through a lot of -- >> reporter: that one doesn't want to eat the fish. so you have to entice him. >> yes. and we want to make sure medically that we make sure they gain weight. >> reporter: the pupping season runs through the end of may and a lot of these pups. they will be on their own after they learn to eat on their own. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, kraig. >> 7:0. in other news, muni is now reviewing security tape. it's investigating an incident that may cost a bus driver his job. today's examiner reports it happened on the 24 line in san francisco. several passengers complain. they said they watched the driver scream at a couple trying to board a bus with the driver in the stroller. they say the driver allegedly

ordered the family to get off the bus. he had been working for the company for six months. all right. let's check in with sal. any problems with the commute? >> it's getting busy now. that doesn't necessarily mean there are a lot of problems but it will be slow. let's take a look at 237. you will see some stop-and-go traffic there which is typical heading across the bay. as far as the accident count, we don't have a lot. things have been rather good. in the last few weeks, especially on the rainy days, we had some terrible commutes. 8 0 northbound and southbound, you can see -- 880 northbound and southbound, you can see traffic looks good it's pretty

good morning. mostly clear skies over san francisco. look at all of that low cloud cover over part of the coast this morning. we should see that burn off to mostly sunny skies for the afternoon. in japan they've raised the crisis level of the damaged nuclear plant to a 7, the highest level on an international scale. japanese nuclear regulators say they raise the rating following -- the rating following new

assessments. this puts this on the same level as the 19 6 concern noble 6 c -- 1984 chennobyl -- chenerbyl disaster. today, there will be an emergency drill at the san onofre power plant. it's something that's done every year but this year they say there's more interest from the public. sirens will blare as 300 emergency workers from los angeles to san diego simulate how they would respond during a radiation leak. and pg&e says more studies are needed about the safety of california's other nuclear power plant. the diablo canyon plant sits within three miles of two faults. pg&e has asked federal

regulators to delay issuing an operating licensing extension until the utility does comprehensive quake risk assessments. more than 400,000 people live within 50 miles of the diablo canyon plant which sits in san luis obispo county. overnight we got the details of the budget deal that prevented that federal government shutdown. it appears few government agencies and services are being spared. ktvu's alison burns, live in our washington, d.c. newsroom with the breakdown. alison? >> reporter: dave, the house comes into session in just a couple of hours. let's get to a live look at the senate floor. senators are just getting to work for the day. we do expect to hear more grumbling about the budget today from republicans who wanted bigger spending cuts and democrats who say the cuts go too far. senate majority leader harry reid said the cuts would be painful, the list totals nearly

$40 million. here's the breakdown -- this could have an impact locally as the deal cuts $3 billion for high-speed rail projects, millions for first responders, and millions for the wick program that provides food subsidies to low-income women and children. money for headstart is going up. the centers for medicaid and medicare get more money to implement health reform and the pentagon budget goes up by about $5 billion. the department of veterans affairs is also the only other agency that gets a boost. the voting on this year's budget starts in the house tomorrow. reporting live from washington, d.c., alison burns, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:18. we're following breaking news. this is coming to us from antioch. firefighters at an apartment fire in antioch just got it under control.

good morning to you. welcome back. 7:23. two american troops were killed in afghanistan by friendly fire. they were apparently mistaken for insurgents. it's believed to be the first case of u.s. troops killed by a drone. in new york, police have found more evidence of a serial killer who is still on the loose. they've found a ninth, possibly tenth body. all victims are women. police began to search the area after a 24-year-old prostitute disagree -- disappeared. she agreed to meet a client she met on craigslist at a beach on

well, good morning. welcome back. :30. this morning, homicide -- 7:30. homicide detectives in san francisco are investigating the death and killing of a 16-year- old boy. now, earlier, allie rasmus was at a police station in the bayview but now she's at the school the victim attended.

>> reporter: good morning. classes here at thurgood marshall high school started in the last hour. so we've had a chance to talk to some students. they describe the victim as a funny person who stayed out of high school. police told district schools and administrators that the death of the 16-year-old was suspicious and homicide investigators were now on the case. he was a sophomore. today the school is going to have grief counseling services available for all of the students. the 16-year-old's body was found in a home on the 2100 block of kata avenue in the -- the home where he was found, that's not the home he lives. police don't know whose home that is. they are not saying you ho he

did. four people have been arrested for attempted arson charges and conspiracy. the arson charges because police discovered some sort of incendiary poured near the scene. they don't know if the four other teens arrested were students here, we're told. however, they are looking for a fifth suspect that they believe could also be involved in this homicide. back to you. >> thank you. 7:32. we wanted to take a moment and tell you about a developing story we're hearing about right now. there's word of -- we're getting calls into our newsroom from the richmond area. people are hearing sirens going off in richmond. they are wondering what is going on. we're hearing there is a malfunction with the siren equipment, that there's no real

alert at any -- of any kind but they are trying to repair that. there's a malfunction -- some type of technical malfunction. they are trying to fix it. in oakland, a man was shot by two men who broke into his home. it happened around 9:30 last night on parker avenue. the victim was able to crawl to a neighbor's house and the neighbor called police. the victim was shot in the chest but we don't know his condition at this time. no word on any arrests. in a separate incident, oakland police tell ktvu that a man who was shot while sitting in a car has died from his injuries. police were called to golf links road around 7:30 last night by a man who told him his friend had been shot. the unidentified victim was rushed to the hospital where he

died overnight. two men have died in a scuba diving accident. the tuolumne sheriff's office says four men went diverring at the gold mine pit in james -- diving at the gold mine pit in jailstown. the army corps of engineers sent in special equipment yesterday. they recovered the body of one of the drivers who did not resurface. another man who initially survived the accident died later a hospital. we're also waiting for autopsy results about the two nevada teenagers. they died while diving in monterey bay. they did not come back up. they were with a group of people. their bodies were found at the bottom of the bay after a 45- minute search.

killer who is behind bars in the marin county jail this morning. what we know about the crime and when we're expected to learn new details. that's coming up at 7:45. 7:5. this morning, the chp -- 7:35, this morning the chp has a new lead. they are looking for a toyota corolla who killed a ped crossing 280 in daly city early sunday morning. investigators are looking for the registered owner. car. he's from south san francisco. officers don't believe he was responsible for the crash but he may possibly lead them to the driver. 400 parking meters have been vandalized this year. vandals are not getting much in the way of cash. they say the meterheads are so sturdy, they often find them sawed off but intact with the coin still inside.

microsoft is fueling their war of words with google this morning. microsoft claims google is misleading customers about the security of their software programs for governments. they say google's software has not been certified under the management act. google says it has been certified and they can prove it with court documents. toyota is issuing a warning to u.s. car dealers. the car company says their supply of new vehicles could be severely impacted during the summer. they are also outlining supply issues and further production cuts. toyota says the shortage is caused by the earthquake and tsunami in japan that slowed output. we'll soon know where two

journal," naso was on -- was on patrol for stealing groceries in 2009. and he was reportedly arrested last april after a probation officer found guns and ammo after a surprise visit. investigators do tell us the homicides occurred in 1977, 1978, 1993 and 1994 in different counties and at least one of the killings was in marin county and involved a female victim. naso is being held without bail and those two press conferences are scheduled in just a fun -- couple of hours. we'll have complete coverage coming up at noon. back to you. >> thank you. 7:48. again, we've got developing news. we've been telling but a siren malfunction right now in richmond. a lot of calls are coming into the newsroom saying what in the

world is going on in richmond? newschopper2 is flying over this refinery in richmond whereby the sirens are being heard. we've been told there's a malfunction in the technical part of the sirens, causing these sirens to go off. they are working on it right now. we wanted to bring you these live pictures from richmond to let you know exactly where the sirens are coming from. we'll have more details later. 7:49. a delta airlines flight made an emergency landing in north carolina after a very pungent electrical odor sickened some of the crew members. the flight took off from j.f.k., new york and was headed to fort lauderdale, florida last night. the plane had 94 passengers on board. it landed safely. no one had to go to the hospital. we still don't know what caused

that smell aboard the plane. federal investigators want to knee what led to one plane clipping another on the runway at j.f.k. international airport in new york. look at that wing there. it happened yesterday when this air france, airbus-a 380 clipped the tail of a delta commuter airplane. both planes were evacuated. nobody was hurt. the planes are grounded. this morning a nato general is speaking out about criticisms by the french foreign minister that nato air strikes in libya are just not doing enough. the nato general says the raliens has been very successful -- relyians has been very successful. france's foreign minister said that nato needs to do more to

update we've been following for you all morning long. just went past 30 minute, police cleared the area where two bodries inside. jade hernandez has more on the investigation underway. >> reporter: you are right. after hours, detectives and police have cleared the area, this home here. even though concord police have ruled this a homicide investigation involving only one victim we know there's two bodies. we watched them load two bodies into the medical examiner's van this morning. police are not saying if this was a murder-suicide or a domestic violence tragedy. concord police have been going door to door to ask residents what that he heard around 8:00 or 8:30. when police arrived, they discovered a body. detectives won't release who or how the victim was killed or even if the victim was a man or

charged with murder. the other three face attempted arson charges. police say that's because they found evidence of gasoline poured near the victim's body. they are still searching for a fifth suspect. ktvu's allie rasmus is at the young victim's school this morning and will have more at 8:30. we want to update a story we've been following for the past hour here on "mornings on 2." firefighters battled an early- morning apartment house fire in antioch. you are looking at newschopper2's picture over the scene. this is at 11th and g streets. just a short time ago, the firefighters got the flames under control. we haven't heard any reports of any injuries there. but as you can see, there was some damage at this property. investigators want to know how the fire began. police in oakland told ktvu a man who was shot while

sitting inside of a car has died. police were called to golf links road about 7:30 last night by a man who told him his friend had been shot. the unidentified victim was rushed to highland hospital. that's where he died overnight. police are not giving us any ore details but our cam rue group found evidence of dozens of groups of shoots -- shots fired around the car. last night, on parker avenue, there was a shooting and the victim was able to crawl to the neighbor's house. he was shot in the chest. his condition right now is not known. a monterey county mother has been arrested for leaving her children alone at a park. witnesses told monterey county sheriff's deputies a woman left her three children at a king city park on sunday for more than two hours. deputies arrested her on

suspicion of child endangerment. the children have been placed in the care of relatives. san francisco police are looking to add some extra muscle to the nightclub security. tonight, a hearing will be held to discuss a police proposal that would require all club visitors to have their i.d. scanned and go through a metal detector. this process -- this process will be filmed. just 30 minutes from now, jurors in the barry bonds's perjury trial will begin another day of deliberations. now, some legal experts prea verdict could come today. that's based on the legal rule of film that says there is a day of deliberations for every week of testimony. well, this is third week of deliberations after a third week

inside the cages of the marin mammal center as rescued pickups are learning -- pups are learning crucial survival skills. kraig debro is out there with these life-or-death situations. >> reporter: good morning. take a look at the facility. every one of these pens has at least one elephant seal or sea lion in it. it's not mating season. it's the time of year that pups get separated from their mothers are facing certain death if they aren't rescueed. the pups get separated in four to six weeks after being born, before they can learn how to eat on their own. staff members teach the elephant seals too -- to eat fish, her ring in this case --

two american troops were killed in afghanistan by friendly fire from a droned aircraft. they were apparently mistaken by insurgents. it's believed to be the first case of u.s. troops killed by a drone. in new york, police have found more remains, they believe are the result of a serial killer who remains at large. investigators have located a 9th and possibly a 10th body. all of the victims have been female. let's check traffic now. sal, you're watching a lot of different things. >> yeah. we're watching a crash in sacramento here from our chopper. elk grove at franklin.

we have a look at this bus crash in sacramento on elk grove near franklin. this bus was on the road and apparently became involved in a pretty violent collision that sent the bus -- you can see the

skid marks there off the road near elk grove and franklin. the streets in the area are blocked. you can see police and fire crews are on the scene. this bus was carrying high school students, although it's not a school bus it was a -- school bus. it was a private bus carrying the students. judging by the emergency response, we -- it is safe to assume perhaps there were minor injuries, just junking on what we're looking at. we haven't had any official confirmation on that. looking at the area. it's a good area to avoid. had is on elk grove right near the corner of franklin. we'll try to get more information for you and pass it along as we get it. this is also a day of mourning at one san francisco school following the tragic killing of a 16-year-old student. allie rasmus has just talked to some of the classmates and to the school principal. you're back with the late et on

all of this -- with the latest on all of this. >> reporter: that's right we spoke with the principal and he said the death of the 16-year- old came as a shock here to a lot people in the community. he was a 16-year-old sophomore. he was found dead early sunday morning. initial list his death was errorred as a suicide. but later in the afternoon, the medical examiner determined the circumstances are suspicious. the principal said administrators were informed of the change in investigation yesterday afternoon. z ep ng's body, where he was found, that's not the home where he thinked -- where he live. police won't say how he died nor do they have a motive. four teenagers have been arrested for aseptember -- for

from a viewer of that fire in antioch we first told you about at the top of "mornings on 2." you can see the flames from the fire in this photo sent to us by delilah. newschopper2 was over the scene about 90 minutes ago. there's no reports of injuries. but as you can see the flames claused -- flames caued major damage. the cause of the fire is under investigation. uc berkeley police released a police sketch of a man they say assaulted a woman on campus. take a look. the suspect is described as a white man in his 20s about 5'7", short, brown hair with a thin build. he was wearing denim overalls a green sweatshirt and a dark, tight fitting cap with a small brim. it happened on the cal campus. police don't know if the assault is connected to another incident that happened about an
