why marin county is prosecuting a man who was arrested on a cold case with four homicides. >> reporter: students at the san francisco high school are going through grief counseling after a classmate of theirs was found murdered over the weekend. the showdown came over the past hour. what happened when police confronted squatters who took over a san francisco building -- next at noon.

good afternoon. new at noon, marin county shorts just released new details about a suspected serial killer. the investigation into this case goes back to the 1970s. kraig debro is live in san rafael to explain what led to this arrest. kraig? >> reporter: yeah, tori. law enforcement from marin county to the sierra nevada mountains today announced a year-long joint investigation. a nan accused of four homicides. joseph naso. he's 77 years old. he's being held on the marin -- in the marin county jail with no bail. his crimes are cold cases dating back to 1977. this morning, the team of investigators released just a few more details about naso's arrest. police say naso's arrest came

at the el dorado county jail monday. he had been in the jail prior to this recent arrest. they would not say why he served time there. according to a published report he was on probation for a grocery store robbery. a probation officer made a random visit and found him to be in possession of firearms. that's a violation of his probation. they would not say what evidence they found but it did crack the case. >> during that arrest investigators found items by mr. naso that imcoy lited came -- implicated him inable -- multiple murders of women. >> reporter: roxanne, tracy, from yuba county. the d.a. is trying the case under a law that will combine prosecutions with the consent other

jurisdictions. the d.a. will charge him with special circumstances, meaning he could get the death penalty if convicted. reporting line in san rafael, kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. concord police have identified two men found dead there inside a home. the bodies of fredrick muir and miranda potrelly were pulled from the home around 6:00 this morning. officers say they received a distressed call from someone at that home around 8:30 last night and they went door to door asking neighbors what they heard or saw. >> i noticed it was around 9:00 p.m. and there was -- there were just cops and the ambulance, firefighters, you heard everything and we just went outside. it was kind of weird. >> concord police say the two appeared to have been shot to death. they are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-

suicide. the autopsy should give police more information on how and when the two died. the autopsies are scheduled for later this week. homicide detectives in san francisco are investigating the killing of a 16-year-old boy. ktvu's allie rasmus has more on the investigation and what's happening at the victim's school. >> reporter: well, tori, the victim was a sophomore here at thurgood marshall high school. you can see the school has placed its flag out front at half-staff in honor of andy zeng. his body was found at a home on kasata avenue. by monday, police arrested one 15-year-old boy for murder in connection with his death. three other teens were arrested for attempted arson and conspiracy. the arson charge, police explained, is because they found some sort of flammable liquid at the scene of the crime. police are still looking for a fifth teen who they say may also be involved in the homicide. students at the high school

showed us this facebook page they created to memorialize zeng. grief counselors will be available for the students all throughout the day. >> it's really nice to know him. it really breaks my heart to know he's gone now. >> he has a lot of friends at the school site. it was just a shock when we found out this had happened to him. >> reporter: now, the home zen's body was found was not the house where he lived. we went by the house and buzzed the front door. no one came out to talk to us. police will not tell us how he died or whether they established a motive. >> they also won't tell us the relationship he had with the five other suspects. however, police say investigators will have an update on this case later in the afternoon. live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. san francisco police this morning moved in and forced a

group of homeless rights protesters out of a building in the city's fillmore district. more than00 demonstrators from the group "homes not jails" took over the vacant building sunday night. they say they were trying to draw attention to san francisco's housing crisis. they say eight demonstrators were arrested for trespassing. the build something owned by kaiser permanente and is unfit for okay pan -- occupancy. the barry bonds's trial resumes. the jury is deliberating. this is the third day of deliberations after the three day of trial. bonds is charged with three counts of lying to a jury in 2003 and one count of obstruction of justice. we have a special section on the bonds's trial.

a 60-year-old concord man who is legally blind and uses a walker ran from his burning apartment this morning with his pants on fire. it happened at 6:30 a.m. at his home on g street. cliff order perry said he was wrapped in a blanket when he suddenly saw a huge flame. his pants were singed but fortunately he was okay. fire crews put out the nails in about 15 minutes but most of his belongings were destroyed. this morning, at least three students were injured in a bus accident at elk grove in san francisco. there were more than 20 students on the bus which ended up in a field. one student suffered a nose

injury while two complained of back pain. police are investigating the accident. the bus driver said he had a green light and the driver of the car told a local tv station that he had done nothing wrong. japanese officials are apologizing to residents near crippled nuclear power plant to raising the level to 7, putting the crisis on par with the 1986 chernobyl disaster. japanese officials say it does not mean radiation leaks are getting worse. the bulk of the leak was at the beginning but they are still concerned about a possible nuclear accident until cooling systems are restored and slow leaks that continue to release radioactive material into the air, ground and sea. toyota is issuing a warning to u.s. car dealers. the car company says their supply of new vehicles could be significantly impacted during the summer. they are also outlining further

production cuts. toyota says the shortage is cause bid by -- caused by the march 11th tsunami and earthquake in japan. oregon authorities have identified the body of a man washed out to the sea by the tsunami along the northern california coast. the surge struck march 11th, hours after the quake in japan. 25-year-old dustin weber was swept away in del norte county. his body was found april 2nd in oregon near the mouth of the columbia river. he went to the beach with friends to take photos when the surge hit. parents, children, child providers are rallying in san francisco to prevent child buts -- child cuts to budget care. >> we must do everything we possibly can to provide more child care slots for our working families here in san francisco! hoping to raise awareness about the drastic consequences with today's walk around the block. they say it's important to protect funding for child care. >> without child care, parents are gonna lose their jobs and that's the last thing you want in this economy. a delta airlines flight made an emergency landing in north carolina after a pungent electrical odor sickened crew members. the flight took off from j.f.k. in new york and was headed for fort lauderdale, florida last night. the plane was carrying 94 passengers. it landed safely. no one was hospitalized. there's no word what caused the smell on the plane. federal investigators are trying to figure out what led to one plane clipping another on a runway at j.f.k. international in new york. it was captured on amateur video yesterday when an air france, the largest passenger jet in the world, clipped a

delta airlines flight. nobody was hurt. the planes are grounded until they investigate and review the damage. muni is reviewing tape that could cost a bus driver -- a bus driver his job. several passengers dahled to complain after -- called to complain after watching the driver scream at a couple who tried to board the bus with their child in a stroller. they say the driver ordered the family to get off his bus. muni did not identify the driver who had only been working for the company for six months. a legal fight could be brewing in mountain view after a crumbling hillside left three homes teetering on the edge of the -- teetering on the edge of the collapse -- of collapsing. three mobile homes were forced to be red tagged. now "the mountain view voice" reports some people in the

barrel, falling 3% after a warning from goldman sachs that that was high. the dow is down 126. nasdaq, down 31. s&p is down 11. microsoft is fueling their war of words with google today. microsoft claims google is misleading customers about the security of its software programs for government. they say google's software has not been certified under the federal information security act. google says it has been certified and they can prove it with court documents. san francisco is doubling the amount of a subsidy giving to companies on welfare. they upped the program $5,000. so few companies are taking advantage of the offer and the city still has more than -- than $1.5 million in funding money. the program runs until june

0th. oakland city leaders are mulling over spending ut cuts as the city faces an even bigger can deficit than thought. the deficit is $5 million, up from $46 million. 80% of discretionary spending will reportedly have to be cut. parking enforcement jobs, street sweeping and senior centers are all on the line. they will decide to put a parcel tax before the voters. and oakland officials say 400 parking meters have been vandalized. but the vandals are not getting much cash. they say the meaterheads are so sturdy. city officials are replacing meters with multi-space meters with credit cards and others with a sleeve over the pole that spins when you try to saw it off. a malfunction caused an emergency warning to sound for

half an hour in in richmond. contra costa health safeties officials say the -- services officials say the sounding made the center be unindated with phone cause. it was all just a false alarm that had nothing to do with the refinery. san francisco supervisors will vote on a resolution today, opposing leash restrictions in the golden gate national recreational area.
