but one company has an alternate. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at noon. >> good afternoon. we begin with new developments concerning the muni driver caught texting behind the wheel. she was supposed to have been suspended but recently she was seen still driving. ktvu's kraig debro joins us live in san francisco to let us know the driver status now. >> reporter: tori, that is the bus drive she drove. we are at the bus stop at 24th and casha. muny says they fired the driver earlier today. we have are at this bus stop because the person who actually recorded the meeting operator texting behind the wheel says the driver forced them off at this entersection after he recorded her texting while driving. >> i can say she is no longer an employee. >> reporter: the customer recorded the video in february but the controversy will breed stories beyond today. he filed a complaint. muny confronted her and

suspended her for three days without pay. she admitted to texas texting but told them she pulled over to respond to a family emergency. when they saw the tape they felt lied to and immediately sought to have her fired. that is not usually the first remedy. >> we frown upon them texting while driving. we wanted to respond as soon as possible and to take immediate action. >> reporter: muny expressed surprise after learning the driver was back behind the wheel as late as yesterday. she came in for her shift this morning, was pulled aside and terminated. in fact the source said she had to be escorted from the property. union officials would not comment for the story but the treasurer walter scott says he

wanted to find out what happened. finally they admit they are procedures but they choice to by pass those under these circumstances and according to union members there will be grievances the woman will file to get her job back. live in san francisco kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. >> we could hear today whether san francisco muny operators have authorized a strike after a week of union voting. it would not mean they would go on strike immediately, just their leadership would have the power to call a walkout if negotiations stall. it came in the mild of contraction negotiations described as contentious, voting ran from last friday through yesterday. another controversy may be brewing about an open door on a moving muny train. muny is asking the person who shot this video to call them. it shows an l-line metro train rolling along with one of its

doors wide open and muny wants to know when this happened. >> what we have done is looked at each vehicle that has gone through that station at forest hill and we have not found any doors that were open, so we asking for the person to contact us and give us more information about when they took that video and what day it was. >> another video appeared on utube of another metro train operating with its doors open. police are searching for suspects at a shooting at a gas station just before midnight. investigators say at least 1 gunman started shooting, wounding two people. both are expected to survive i witnesses saw several young men running from the scene but no arrests have been made. one economists says he believes it is possible the price of gas could hit six dollars by this summer. richard hastings, a strategist for global hunter securities,

says all it would take is a couple of hurricanes to reduce refinery output in some key locations. we talked with some people buying gas at san mateo this morning, they said even at current prices it is tough. >> every week it goes up, i don't know what is going to happen in the summertime. people are staying closer to home. >> especially you know in my age, we have been saving on -- on the social security, i don't think so we can go very far. >> if gas does up to six dollars a gallon it would take $120 to fill up a 20 gallon tank. we talked to a lot of people who say they pay those prices because they don't have any other choice but what if you had a greener and cleaner and cheaper alternative? claudine wong joins us live to explain how one oakland company is trying to save people money. >> reporter: tori, this only effects people who use diesel

but if you look at the board behind me it is the most expensive up there at 4.69 a gallon, it is expensive but you do have another option. matt rolled into the yard today with one request. >> fill it up. i work in oakland and heard about a place selling diesel for less. >> reporter: they have produced it for the last couple of years but shipped it out to retailers. starting today you can buy it direct from their production facility. the process works like this. they send this truck around to restaurants and other companies to pick up this. it is your basic used cooking oil. the oil is treated and washed. after four days it looks like this. and it is ready to go from this truck into this car. he says the demand is there but getting the oil is harder. he donated to the cause. >> yeah, i got used vegetable

researchers say the deaths of both juvenile and adult sharks may be caused by an infection or toxic discharge in san francisco bay. one northern california man was walking to church on sunday when he spotted an envelope. he picked it up then later made a stunning discovery. >> i opened it in the kitchen and i find out 17 bills, 100 dollars. and fakes. bills, 50s dollars, so my wife say it is too much money. you can't keep this. >> so he called police who tracked down the owner. the man says it never crossed his mind to keep the 2000 dollars in cash. it may cost you more to get some of your favorite burgers. and what is going on with lindsey lohan said. she is back in any l.a. courtroom.

mcdonalds customers should expect to pay more for burgers and fries before the end of the year. the fast food giant says increasing costs for beef, dairy products and vegetables means it will have to charge higher prices. mcdonalds says it could raise prices 4.5% and it influences how the rest of the industry copies. lindsey lohan is back in an
