president obama is back at the white house after his trip to the west coast. the president boarded air force one at l.a.x. this morning. he was in the bay area on wednesday and thursday to raise funds and sell his long term budget plan. today is the deadliest day in a month of protests in syria. a human right's group says at least 75 people have been killed during prodemocracy demonstrations today alone. here are some pictures of a protest in lebanon supporting the syrian people. the lybaneze were allowed to march after friday prayer. the brutal crack down on the protesters for the past two months triggered a wave of key figures to abandon the president. today the president called the defectors cowards and renegades. in libya today, the united states has began using a new tool in the conflict between

this map shows how ocean currents will carry some of the billions of the tons of debris from the japanese earthquake and tsunami across the pacific and to our shorelines. they expect the debris will begin to appear on march 2014 and will linger in the region for years. the hawaii island will be hit by repeated water flows for the next several years. gas prices have jumped above $4 a gallon. according to aaa the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in california now stands at $4.21 a gallon. that's $1.11 higher than we
