oakland police just reopened broadway street to traffic but the investigation into a fatal shooting continues. an early morning in san francisco sent three people to the hospital. what investigators are saying about that fire this morning. bart is getting a facelift coming up we will tell you how you can have input on what the final product will look like.

our weather for the weekend is carrying right into monday. that means a little bit more rain. what about the rest of the week? can we get some sunshine in here and warm things up? good morning, to you. welcome to a brand new day. monday april 25th i'm dave clark. >> and i'm pam cook. let's start with weather and traffic. steve paulson i heard warmer weather by the weekend? >> yes. today we have to deal with a lot of cloud cover and light rain. it's on the mild side. it looks like a mostly cloudy day with occasional cloudy rain. some mid to upper 60s inland. we will take a look at that five-day and show you warmer weather. let's get to the traffic with sal. steve good morning, westbound interstate 880 looks good. also this mornings drive is going to be good. it's getting a little bit more

crowded at the bay bridge. getting a little bit more action here coming up to the teleplay va. if you're getting on to the bridge it's okay. police are investigating two overnight shooting at an unlikely place right outside nightclubs at jack london square. allie rasmus is there. >> reporter: investigators actually just left. police just opened up broadway street to traffic between third and fourth street. this whole section of the street had been closed for five hours because of a fatal shooting that happened in front of this sweet jimmy's bar. just a short time ago police left the scene and turned off the lights. there is a sign out front explaning the police place is shut down. six people were shot here early this morning. two men and two women were injured. it happened just already 1:00

this morning. police say that is when a car full of people pulled up to the bar. one of the men got out and tried to get into the bar but was denied access. that's when the man pulled out a gun and started shooting. between 10-15 people were inside the bar when this happened. police have not made any arrests yet. they are still looking for one black male shooting suspect and the rest of the people who were in the car. a sergeant told me earlier police are not ready to release a suspect description or vehicle description just yet. right around the same time that this shooting happened, police also responded to another car about shots fired a few blocks away from here. a man was found shot outside of kimbels nightclub. he was taken to the hospital in stable condition. police don't know if these two shootings are related. when it comes to the shooting that happened at sweet jimmy's there republican people that witnessed what happened. police have been interslewing

the witness -- interviewing the witnesses since early this morning. half a dozen people are out of their homes now following an overnight fire in san francisco. this happened about 12:30 this morning on powell street between vallejo and green streets. fire started in the outside stairwell of the second floor. three people are being treated for smoke inhalation. one of them cut his foot on glass outside. coming up in 30 minutes only on channel 2 we will let you hear from a woman who is being called a hero after this fire. last weeks warehouse fire at the martinelli's apple plant took a deadly tole on local wildlife. hundreds of fish were killed. debris and soot from this burning warehouse filled the water. foam used by firefighters may

have also killed some of those fish. it took firefighters two days to put it out. the san carless city council -- the san carlos city council could vote to out source its fire service. firefighters were outside asking for signatures. if that happens the san carlos fire department would be disbanned and 47 firefighters could be out of a job. city leaders say an estimated $1 million would be saved. time now 6:05. guess what bart wants your opinion. picking out the styles of its new seats. ktvu christian kafton is joining us live to tell us how you can be a part of this. >> reporter: this is really a chance for commuters to shape their own futures. this is part of barts seating lab. what they are measuring here is the various widths of the seats. that's what they will try top

the elderly and disabled community. that's where the seating width distance comes into play. >> the seat leg room as well. >> okay bob franklin thank you very much. and again this is all part of an overall upgrade for bart. they will be replacing and expanding their fleet. it's part of a 13 year, $3.4 billion plan. wikileaks releases new government documents revealing information about detainees a the guantanamo bay. coming up at 6:15 we will have a live report from washington, d.c. with disturbing information about some of the detainees that have already been released. time now 6:07. pg&e reportedly changing its position on spiking the pressure on natural gas lines. the san francisco chronicle reports the utility now supports a proposed state rule banning spikes with some

exceptions. the pg&e previously argued that federal regulation required spiking in order to test the pipelines and that the practice was safe. among the pipelines the company spiked was the one that blew up in san bruno. today pg&e will hold an informational meeting in mountain view as it prepares to test natural gas pipelines that have similar characteristics to ones that blew up in san bruno. mountain view will be one of the first places tested beginning next month. tonights meeting will begin at 5:30 at the middle school. there are two federal lawsuits facing the san jose police department accusing officers of excessive force and racial profiling. no comment from the department because the cases are ongoing. in both cases complaints were filed by latinos. reportedly one man claims a police officer beat him three years ago so severely it

fractured his eye socket. another complaint claims an officer ran over him with a patrol car during a chase in 2009. two separate street robberies in san francisco's mission district are being investigated by police. the most recent happened early saturday morning at 24th and mission street. police say four attackers knocked two men from the ground and stole their cash. police arrested all four suspects. on friday police say a man was knocked to the ground on folsom street and pistol whipped. time is 6:09. let's check in with sal and get you to where you need to go. how is it looking? >> reporter: it looks okay right now. traffic right now will be effected by the wet weather and by wet i mean drizzle. a little bit of a backup at the toll plaza. it looks like they might be turning the metering lights on soon. we will get a bigger backup. also this morning we are

looking at interstate 880 as you drive past the coliseum. no major problems heading south or north. and this mornings drive is going to be okay on the peninsula if you are driving on 101 or 280. a little bit of slowing on highway 1. and 85 slowing down northbound at 17 in the south bay. 6:09 let's go to steve. thank you, sal. we do have a cloudy pattern. very light rain over us. nothing too heavy what we had on the weekend just took it right into monday. mostly cloudy light rain. a little bit of a breeze. can't lose that. everything is coming out of the west. so we get that on shore push. tomorrow looks like a little bit more sun and slightly warmer. we'll have a cool down by thursday. all signs point toward a dry weekend and warmer weather once we get closer to it. today we have to deal with the cloud cover. there is a lot there until you see the end result. there is not a lot as far as strength in the systems. it's just an on shore push

escaped. this was the second jailbreak at this prisoner. three years ago as many as 1,000 prisoners escaped when they set you have a large truck bomb. wikileaks has released documents about the guantanamo bay prisoners. cover prisoners. carol han is live. >> reporter: it gives us individual intelligence assistance of everyone since 2002. they are ranked to according how likely they were to pose a threat if released. under the bush administration, about 200 of the high-risk prisonerred were freed or -- prisoners were freed were passed on their government. one is training rebel forces in libya.

that deadly cave in. a suspect is dead following a gun battle that injured am police officer in lost -- that injured a police officer in los angeles. that is according to the l.a. times. officers reportedly shot the suspect after he fired at them. the officer was grazed but is expected to be okay. two bystanders were also hurt. we don't know their conditions at this point. the stabbing victim is expected to recover. this morning antioch police are investigating a weekend shooting. yesterday police interviewed a 24-year-old man that showed up at a hospital seeking treatment for several gunshot wounds. he told them he was shot somewhere in antioch but refused to tell them anything else. time now 6:18. sal, you have everything under control around the al mr.-- around the toll plaza? >> it's getting busier here.

wednesday and they not say when it will be restored. the company also says it's red building the network. general motors is likely to reclaim its title of world's largest auto maker this year. it will boost moral for gm workers and make a remarkable come back story. industry analysts say that will have more to do with toyota problems than gm's increased producttivity. a series of toyota recalls sent buyers looking at other brands and toyota production won't return to normal after last months earthquake and tsunami until later this year. actress lindsey lohan starts doing community service work at one of l.a.'s toughest areas. she starts her work downtown in a womans center. last week a judge ordered lohan to immediately perform 500 hours of community service. later on she will be working inside the county morgue.

california in 60 years. a 13-year-old boy from palo alto has raised $20,000 from gay teens to preventing suicide. noah organized an indy rock benefit concert. he created a website asking people to donate money so he can pull this off. last night bans from all over the country came here to support the event. he got the idea last summer after hearing stories about gay teens being bullied and committing suicide. >> they are being bullied for something they can't help and it's really not something that is wrong with them. >> noah says he's not gay but has friends that are. money that he raises will go to the trevor project which is a teen help line and it gets better it's a you tube channel. apple will not comment of why it's tracking the location of the iphone, ipad, and mack

users. two members of congress were concern the about the privacy policy so they wrote steve jobs. while jobs did not answer personally company attorneys responded by saying apple needs access to location based information so it can quote provide high quality products and services that its customers demand. it's an all too common problem for oakland police. radio trouble creating confusion at a critical moment. one woman is being hailed a hero after an early morning fire in san francisco's knob hill neighborhood. find out what she did that has neighbors talking. the star of the show today on wall street could be the bay area netflix. the reason why is next.

pures as police conducted their investigation into the fatal shooting. right now we can see and hear a tow truck in the parking lot. it's not process of towing away one of the shooting victims cars. you see the family members standing by. the family members have been here since about 2:00 this morning dealing with the loss and grieving out here. a total of six people were shot last night. two men and two women were injured and the other two young victims were young men that were killed in the shooting. it happened just before 1:00 this morning. police say what they believe happened was a car full of people. they tried to get into the bar but was denied access. witnesses say that's when a man pulled out a gun and started shooting. 10-15 people were inside sweet jimmy's bar when this happened. police have not made any arrests but they are looking for one black male shooting suspect and the rest of the people who were in the car with

him. but a sergeant out here told me earlier this morning right now police are not ready to release a suspect or vehicle description just yet. right around the same time this shooting happened police responded to another call about shots fired a few blocks away from here also in the jack london square neighborhood. a man was found shot outside of kimbel nightclub. that man was taken to the hospital in stable condition. they don't know if these two shootings are related. when it comes to the shooting here police say there are witnesses. police have been interviewing the witnesses since early this morning. reporting live in oakland allie rasmus. an overnight fire on powell street in san francisco proved to be tough to fight. ktvu tara moriarty is at an apartment building where one woman went above and beyond to help a neighbor. tara. >> reporter: at least half a dozen people are out of the apartment complex that caught

fire this morning. one of them a woman who is being hailed as a hero. if you follow me i will show you where this fire started. this is a tricky area they had to drag their hose all the way down this corridor. if you take a look up there is very little space between the buildings here. it was very hard to throw up a ladder. if you take a look over to the right here you can see where it's all black that is where the actual fire started. now the 911 call came in at 12:30 this morning. because flames were shooting out the front door the people that lived here had to escape through the back door. 60 firefighters fought this fire. and crews evacuated nearly two dozen people. that includes the folks that live next door that are back in their homes tonight. at least six people that lived in the building will not be allowed back home. one of them is liag gee who is

being held a hero. >> i came up and i carried him down because he was in the top floor i carried him down and no door would open. no lie. i saw the smoke and the fire. >> reporter: treated for smoke -- three people were being treated for smoke inhalation at a nearby hospital. one of them cut his foot on glass outside. arson investigators have already come and gone. they will not say if this fire is suspicious or accidental. we'll have a better idea later this morning. again that woman actually carried an elderly man out of the stairs down the stairs own out of the building just in time when emergency crews arrived. back here live you can see all of the debris that is piled up. a lot of old victorian doors

and-- victorian doors and knobs. right across the street is north beach. there is caps corner, as well as washington square not too far. this is right on the border. technically we're in knob hill. time now 6:34. bart wants your opinion on what the new seats and trains should look and feel like. starting today bart passengers can test out seat styles and sizes for its new fleet of cars. a seat laboratory will make about nine stops around the bay area. riders will be able to try out different options and even fill out a survey and give your opinion. one of san francisco's most popular cable car lines will be partially shut down this week beginning today half of the powell highline will be closed for maintenance. the closure will last through friday. the cable cars will run from market street up powell but they are going to stop at jackson. buses will go the rest of the way. the good news is your commute

will cost you less. cable car fares will drop from $5 to $2 this week. once again the problem from oakland police radios lead to a critical communication break down. the latest trouble came yesterday along martin luther king way. police cornered a man that crashed a stolen car baa their radios were cutting in and out. frustrated officers were forced to use their cell phones. that lead to confusion just as officers were moving in. >> we were able to transmit intermittently. >> officers finally gave up on the search after two hours. the suspect is still on the run this morning. now police later discovered one of the radios was stuck on open which garbled transmission. it was the latest fluke in a frustrating system. a suspected sniper is in the los angeles county jail this morning after a

frightening incident involving a police helicopter. this is the scene near the airport yesterday. police scrambled to stop a sniper that fired at a helicopter. bullets hit the fuel tank and forced the chopper to make an emergency landing. fortunately no one was hurt. a family member stopped the 18- year-old suspect. police are not sure what lead up to that attack. a search resumes today far an 11 boy that believes to be dead. he's from energize. he disappeared friday after going hiking with his family. the search crews has been focusings search near a creek in the park. it's believed that he fell into the water when the parent were not looking. those crews also spent easter sunday looking for this child. search crews say it's very unlikely he could survive in water like this.

that's because the large snow base this past winter is making creeks in the park both colder and faster than normal. it is now four days and counting to the royal wedding. coming up at 6:42 we'll have a live report from london about the massive preparations under way. time now 6:37. gasoline prices are rising again this morning. we checked overnight. it went up an average of a penny a gallon. so today drivers will pay about $4.28 for a gallon of regular in strength. it's a nickel less than oakland and in san jose but almost everyone we talked to has a theory of why gas prices keep going up. gas company profits are popular targets. >> i know how things work. and they have the highest profits ever but yet they are saying they are not making any money. >> people try to make money on the gas they buy oil and not

for use. >> well president obama agrees specklators are helping to drive up the price of gasoline and the last time that happened was in 2008. 6:38 is the time right now. let's go back over to sal. 4:is the commute look? >> it looks good. you know we are doing okay. we have computers here so right when i say that of course sometimes things tend to pop up. at the bay bridge it is getting a little bit slow. the drizzle that steve has been talking about has been moving through. the twitter nation is a little quiet this morning. time to ramp it up. let's take a look at north and southbound 880 that traffic is moving along okay. as we look at the chp list again we don't have a lot of crashes going on which i hope it stays this way. the wet weather may effect things. let's move along and take a look at the san mateo and dumbarton bridge.

london is buzzing with last minute preparations to insure that everything is as perfect as a fairy tale friday when a commoner marries a man likely to one day be king. it will be the biggest event in britain since another royal wedding nearly 30 years ago. >> i remember watching diana and charles' wedding when i was a little girl. >> reporter: many hope it will lift spirits across britain and beyond. >> the world definitely needs it. it's exciting to be hire. everybody is very excited and people are happy. >> reporter: the guest list includes foreign royal dig nitries and celebrities like elton john and david and victoria beckham. the best spots were those without an invite to watch is outside bucking ham palace where the procession will begin. half a million people are expected to line the route. many will camp out to score a prime spot. the and the british government estimates $2 billion viewers

speaking of planes. flights outs of st. louis are expected to get back to normal by the middle of the week following a horrible tornado. the main terminal of the airport was damaged friday night just looks at the pictures. part of the roof is gone. windows are smashed. security video look at this. the tornado blowing through look at the workers running for cover to get away from this. american airlines plans to resume flight there is today. southwest airlines the airports biggest carrier resumed flights yesterday. this is the most powerful tornado to hit the st. louis area in 40 years. the city of oakland begins its annual battle against the potholes. crews from the department of public works will be out there pouring the gravel, filling the dreaded holes in the cities asphalt. oakland started that program five years ago. the city will use extra staff and #re sources to try to -- and resources to try to deal with the ongoing pothole

time is 6:56. overnight an air strike in libya. take a look at video shown on libyan state tv. reportedly 45 people were hurt in what the government calls an attempt to kill gadhafi. the attack destroyed a library building and an office and badly damaged a reception hall. last month a nato cruise missile targeted an administration building in that compound. a massive search is under way in japan for the bodies of the 12,000 people still missing following last months
