cook. there are wide spread 30s out there. it's cold and breezy. highs today 50s, 60s, and a few low 70s. the good news for the weekend there will be warmer weather. we'll have that in five minutes. here is sal. steve; right now traffic looks pretty good if you are driving on westbound highway 4. driving up to the willow pass grade. earlier accident near chicago is gone. this mornings commute on 80 westbound driving out to the mccarthur maze is good. prince william and kate middleton are officially husband and wife this morning. they appeared before a crowd of thousands in front of birmingham palace. there you see them. william and kate stepped out and looked at the adoring crowd waving at them. then they were joined by both sides of their family. they all crowded out on the look at this crowd.

it was incredible. their family joined them out there on the balcony there but the crowd wanted one thing. they wanted to see the couple kiss. and they chanted for it before it actually happened. you can hear the chanting. they got what they wanted and they approved. and then a moment later william and kate had a second kiss. they can do that now. the royal air force then had a fly over birmingham palace in honor of the new royal couple. plenty of people here in the bay area got upperly to make sure they would not miss the royal wedding. jade hernandez is live in san jose where that wedding watching party took place. jade. >> reporter: that is right. it took place inside of this british pub. it's empty now. but the boss here seemed to surround prince william and kathryn middleton and their history together. the fact they met at a university and fell in love and

might be able to live a happy life. >> we asked people paid a lot more attention to their boys an their happiness and just kind of taking the monarchy to the 21st century and turning the corner and modernizing things. it has been really good energy with this whole wedding. >> i think it's a big change for the british monarchy. i think we will see two things. kate will make a big impact on what will happen in the future. >> reporter: so many different reasons why so many people wanted to come out and watch the wedding this morning. one british woman explained her mother is in england and found a spot across west minister abbey to watch the wedding. a traditional breakfast was served along with tea. i don't know if you can tell earlier many have traditional

hats on. the proper attire. the room was nearly silent during the vows. they continued to watch as the queen, william, and kate appeared on the balcony at birmingham palace. it's the balcony where prince diana and william waved from. now this party is over this morning. but there are many more scheduled for later today. one in san francisco. several in san francisco later this morning. at the palace hotel and the british consulate later tonight. reporting live from san jose jade hernandez. time now 6:04. we are following developing news from the south bay. right now firefighters in san jose are batting an early morning fire on drake street. kraig debro just arrived there.

>> reporter: this is a drake behind me. the fire crews are rolling up their hoses. everybody is familiar with this scene including me because i was here in january when this very same house right here caught fire and obviously didn't burn to the ground because we have another fire this morning. around 2:48 this morning they got the call to come here. this house was fully engulfed in flames. again because station 30 is the closest station because of budget cuts it only had a ladder truck. ladder truck doesn't carry water. it took another four minutes for another truck to get here. there is a home next door that didn't catch fire last time but wasn't so lucky this time. >> all the bedrooms are basically facing the other house. i guess our bedroom doesn't have a window. hers does so she got woken up by the light and from the

flames next door. >> reporter: this was the scene back in january when the house on drake caught fire back then. speaking to fire officials this morning. they checked to see if investigators had come up with a cause to that january fire. they had not. now they have two investigations under way. one started back in january and one this morning. they believes it might have been intentional. he does say power had been restored to this home a month ago. he thought that's because the owners were planning to rebuild here. you will hear more from him coming up. this morning investigators in san francisco are trying to determine the cause of an overnight fire in a pot club. this started at 12:00 p.m.. firefighter were on the scene in minutes. the fire only caused minimal

damage. >> the sprinkler system caused the fire to stay in one room. >> dozens of people do live in lofts above the pot club but no win was hurt. we found out an east palo alto apartment building damaged by fire did not have sprinklers. it started on the third floor of the building around 6:00 yesterday evening. three apartments were damaged. you see the pictures hire. fire officials say the 35 people that were in the building -- that live in the building were not there last night. luckily no onerous hurt. the san francisco chronicle says it's in trouble with the white house 37 according to the chronicle, this video you are looking at of a protest that happened during one of president obama's fundraisers in san francisco is the source of the controversy. coming up at 6:15 we will bring you a live report from washington, d.c. on why the white house says the newspaper should not have posted this

video on its website. a fremont man is in jail this morning after crash into a school bus. the 20-year-old was driving drunk around 7:30 yesterday morning when he hit the bus on middle field road. 38 elementary students were on board. officials say the bus driver was shaken up and complained of pain after the crash. no students were hurt. our time is 6:07. we will get you to where you need to go this morning. sal has the very latest. sal. >> traffic is moving along well around the bay area. highway 4 is doing very nicely coming up to the willow pass grade. we had an earlier exit. also this mornings commute has been looking good on interstate 880 north and southbound driving up past the coliseum. and if you are driving on the san mateo it looks good over to the peninsula where you can see traffic moving along pretty well. at 6:0 let's go to steve.

>> thank you and a happy friday. it's cold out there. temperatures in the 30s. i will show you a panel of those in a moment. a brisk saturday morning and all systems go for sunshine and warmer weather. not only saturday but especially sunday into monday. highs near 80s for some inland. strong system especially for end of april move into the north of us and east. that is ramped up the wind. that is all for us. a northerly wind should turn more north easterly by tonight into tomorrow. very windy on parts of the coast. but it is north, northeast there. along the coast some blustery conditions for awhile. look at the napa airport 33. also saw a low 30 north napa around first street. there is some out there. 39 livermore. 40s for many. 44 santa rosa. some of the cold lows including kenwood 37. zaire toga at 38.

married couple. just about an hour ago. that is the two of them leaving west minister abbey as they got in a carriage and went through the streets of london on their ride to pucking ham palace. time now is 6:13. and let's turn to the shuttle launch where the power of love will be felt by the crew of this space shuttle endeavor. you are taking a live look as its sitting waiting for its launch. the commander of the endeavor mark kelly says he's excited to have his wife see this launch. she is gabrielle giffords who is recovering from a gunshot wound to her head. she is going to watch from a private viewing area. she is not going to be with the 700,000 people gathering to see endeavor's liftoff. locally you can see the launch in mountain view and we will have it for you on ktvu.

if you want to watch the launch you can see an expanded addition at noon. our coverage does begin at 12:00. this morning the san francisco chronicle is reporting it's facing retaliation from the white house. ktvu alison burns live in our washington, d.c. newsroom with the video that is at the center of this controversy. allison. >> reporter: dave, since my last update an hour ago, i talked to one of my key contacts at the white house and so far no one in the white house press office is willing to go on the record to respond to this story. it all centers on this video that chronicle reporter captured when she was covering the president's san francisco fundraiser. remember protestors paid $76,000 to get in and then interrupted the president. she was assigned to be the print pull reporter of the event with the condition she

provide a written report to other reporters. she also took this video and posted it on her blog. the chronicle says the white house is now threatening to exclude the paper from coverage of the president's future events in the bay area but chronicle editor says the rules are too restrictive. he says if something more serious would have happened, would you observe the rules? we expect them to use the reporting tools stray to cover the news and carla did. the white house press corp has been pushing for a long time to get more video access to president obama's events. reporting live from washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news. time is 6:16. bradley manning the army private who is suspected of leaking classified documents to wikileaks is housed at fort elevennings worth kansas.

air strike has killed 12 rebels. it is at least the third reported friendly fire since nato jets attacked libyan officials. both nato and the rebels are taking additional forces to prevent those mistakes. but rebel leaders support nato air strikes. before retiring from the army in 2007. he has been working as a civilian contractor in afghanistan training afghan pilots. >> he thought he could make a difference by encouraging these people to do something by themselves. >> he was at a meeting at at airport on wednesday when an afghan pilot opened fire and

killed him and eight other troops. he is survived by his wife of 28 years, a daughter and two sons. the latest trial on the hills dale high bombing case will begin in december. they couldn't agree with youshock was legally insane when he set off two pipe bombs. this trial should decide if alexander youshock will go to prison or a state mental institution. the state budget crisis could delay the mailing of vehicle registration forms. they are set to go down by a half% percent but they -- by a half percent. they will push the bill that will delay the dmv for sending out notices. our time is 6:18. we are getting new details about the america's cup race and how it could effect giants games. piers 30 and 32 will be the

clothing companies is moving its headquarters to alameda. construction starts next week on the new headquarters for vf outdoor which outsees jam port and lucy. it will move in next summer when work on the first phase of the 210,000-foot building. they could occupy that build handgun is being built to gold lead certification standards. walmart says it will start sell guns again. it stopped selling rifles and shotguns saying they were not in demand. but after seven straight quarters of falling sales, walmart says it is adding more merchandise variety to stores. walmart says guns will be sold in area where is hunting and fishing are popular. time now 6:21. the residents in one southern state they have dealt with the tornadoes. now they are being warned about

good morning, interstate 80 looks pretty good here as you drive down to the berkeley area and okay land -- oakland. time now 6:25. emergency workers along the mississippi river warning there could be another disaster on the way for the people living along the river. 33 people at least have died in the tornadoes that have hit that state. but officials say more lives could be at risk in the coming days as water is expected to hit its highest levels since the floods of 1927. that could really test the lev levies there. unlike the tornadoes, this is

one disaster they can prepare for. glance meantime parts of vermont look at this already under water in vermont. homeowners are scrambling to protect their homes. the water level has hit its highest mark ever. flooded highways have stranded come of the residents and they are stuck until the water reseeds. >> san jose mayor chuck reid is calling for a ballot measure to stop a bill. a third of police officers retiring on disability. that is a much higher rate than other large cities. the audit say there is is a big financial incentive to seek disability pensions because those are tax free. now two big festivals celebrating mexican heritage in san jose have been canceled. a local chapter of the gi form chapter sponsors the zip koa --

>> take thy kathryn elizabeth. >> and that is how it happened. after the exchange of the vows the arch bishop made their wedding official. they didn't kiss after the announcement from the archbishop that they were a married couple. that took place an hour ago on the balcony at birmingham palace. they are known as the duke and duchess of cambridge. investigators in san jose are looking for a reason for a hour fire. >> reporter: gorge claw -- good morning, ciao dean. nobody knows the reason of the fire. we saw the family kind of walk back into the home next to the one that caught on fire this morning because there is what

they call exposure damage to that house. talked to firefighters this morning they said if there had been anybody in the house that burned this morning, it would have been too late to save them. >> if there were to be somebody in there, it wouldn't have been something we would have been able to do much about because of the size of the fire by the time we got here. our primary concern was exposure and trying to protect them which we did have an issue with the neighbors house. >> reporter: from looking at the house there is a little bit more than exposure damage. fire did get in at the attic of the house. the call came in also 2:48. the first engine to arrive on the scene arrived four minutes later. budget cuts eliminated the engines at station 30 which is the closest fire house. ladder truck got here first and had to wait four minute minutes. once they got here it was fully engulfed in flames and the people next door they at first

didn't know there was a fire. >> i just got everybody out as soon as possible and fire department was already turning the corner. so it was just bassically get everybody out and just hope for the best. >> reporter: and this was the scene on the same street at the same house in january. now this is in addition to being a single family residence here it was also listed as a marijuana disfence -- dispensary. they checked with arson investigators they still don't know the cause of the fire in january. the person that lives next door to the house that caught on fire here was able to snap a picture. take a look at this. he e-mailed it in to us our newsroom and you can see what the firefighter were talking about how huge the flames were and why they wouldn't have been able to save anybody had there been anybody in the house. however, they did have information from the person next door that the house had been vacant from an earlier

fire. we will have more from the scene a little bit later on on mornings on two. reporting live in san jose kraig debro. time is 6:33. plans are moving ahead to fix part of a landslide that is affecting half a dozen houses in san pac low. allie rasmus is live in san pablo to talk about a very important step that has to happen. >> reporter: that next step will determine the future of six homes affected by that landslide here. we are standing in front of one of those homes. city officials red tagged this home several weeks ago declaring it too dangerous to live in. since then the family of four that lived here have been in temporary housing. let's show you video of this problem. after last months heavy rains the hillside beneath these homes started slipping away from the foundations. now the city of san pablo has plans to fix part of the problem.

the city's plan would stabilize the land beneath two of the homes impacted by the slide. that homeowner says that is supposed to prevent this landslide from getting worse. >> but the slide is stable right now. it hasn't moved for the last week. so this is the bear minimum the city can do to keep any further damage from happening. it does not in any way shape, or form do anything to address the actual slide. >> reporter: as you heard that homeowner is not happy about the city's plan. it doesn't go far enough to fix the overall landslide problem. but he and the owners of five others homes agreed to the cities plan. he did that because he says he doesn't have much of a choice. he says the value of his home has been wiped out and the problem the task of shoring up the hillside is too expensive for these families to figure out on their own. the homeowners have agreed to the city of san pablo's plan to fix part of the problem here. they signed the paper work and

it's up to the city to decide what to do next. reporting live in san pablo allie rasmus. richmond police are searching for a man accused of attempting to kidnap a 12-year- old girl. police say he's latino in his 30s with spiked brown hair and a bald spot. a man pointed a gun at her while she was walking to grant elementary two weeks ago. we also have a picture of a man's vehicle. it's a small light blue pickup truck with a gray rear panel. there is also a dent above the right rear wheel. 6:36. today the atlanta braves are expected to announce their decision about the future of mcdowell. he used antigay slurs to a fan. mcdowell threatened him when he asked him to watch his language around his children. mcdowell has since apologized

but quinn's attorney is asking for a long suspension and a hefty fine. fans of bryan stow says they are people are setting up fake websites. he was attacked at dodgers stadium after the day in march opinion the stow family say there is is only one sanked website for you to give donations to bryan's medical fund but they are seeing fake websites pop up including ones out of the country. >> it's located in australia. that is all we can we don't have any contact information. we don't know who these people are. they have not exacted me or anyone in our family. >> also for the second time his doctors are trying to bring bryan stow out of a medically induced coma. bryan stow's seizure have prevented him from coming out a couple weeks ago. time now is 6:37.

let's head right over to sal castaneda who is trying to make this a good friday morning for you. how are we looking? >> we are doing okay. we have a nice looking drive around the bay area. for the most part this is a nice looking drive on westbound interstate 880. if you are driving this morning on 80 westbound it should be a nice drive to the bay bridge toll plaza. also look at the sun. nice. this is only a little backup. westbound 580 traffic is moving along nicely getting up to castro valley. if you are driving to the nimitz freeway so far so good. 6:38 let's go to steve. >> sal, the future is so bright i've got to wear shades. we have sunshine, sunrise over the big city and it's clear. it's also cold out there. now we'll warm up but it's a cold morning. a lot of 30s this morning. but sunshine will take over today and then we'll have

warmer weather as we go into the weekend. windy at times. tomorrow morning saturday morning will be crisp and clear. but then warmup. it will be a nice day 70s and by sunday close to 80. we will take that into monday as well. strong, strong low move into the north of us. that is not doing much for us expect ushering in a cooler air mass and kicking up that wind. a northerly wind is in place and that will establish itself a little north and north easterly. on the coast point rays lighthouse has 35 miles an hour gusts. by noon it will decrease. napa airport says 33 degrees. fairfield was down to 36. you combine that breeze can some of the temperatures and it's a cold one out there. 44 san jose. san rafael at 41. it's cool. kenwood is in there with 30s.

saratoga i saw both readings at 38. fairfax 38. and clayton is 39. there is a lot of upper 30s near concord. our one system there is moving in. the highs are bidding in rapidly behind that. as it does it will calm things down after today. we will see sunshine today just not very warm unless you are up toward santa rosa county. tomorrow we start that warmup. yes it will be beautiful beach weather if you're heading out or anything this weekend. brisk morning northerly wind but sunny today. temperatures upper 60s low 60s. but then by tomorrow we will see a lot more wide spread 70s. temperatures will be 70 antioch. berkeley 64. danville san ramon. remember we are in the 30s we have to make up 30, 35 degrees for some of these.

accompanied by her father stepping out of the hotel where she spent her last night as a single woman dressed in a gown that had been kept a mystery. the designer sarah burton. after kathryn's four minute walk down the aisle a fairy tale ceremony. >> i pronounce they be man and wife together. >> reporter: marking the end of an eight-year courtship and beginning of royal matrimony. every second of the day watched by a predicted audience of billions broadcast live on television and the internet. claudine, many of the people have been watching in high definition and i'm sure you will agree the colors in the abbey look absolutely vibrant. this has been a wonderful occasion. >> another excellent report. thank you live from london. let's bring you up to date on some of the other stories.

investigators in san jose want to know what caused an early morning house fire on drake street this same house burned last january. it's not clear if the two fires may be connected. the death toll rising to 297 from that series of tornadoes that roared through the southeast u.s.. right now president obama and his family are flying to tuscaloosa, alabama. they want to see the damage firsthand. they will also meet with residents there and the governor. and the crew of the space shuttle preparing now for the space shuttle endeavor final visit to the international space station. we are getting a look at the endeavor warming up. mark kelly and his wife gabrielle giffords is in florida to see what is probably his final trip into space. 6:47. governor jerry brown has canceled plans to build a new death row complex. the governor said the state

bump them up. sunshine looks to be good today and all the way into early next week. it's the wind we are dealing with and very chilly cold morning. things look really quiet and they look warmer 70s. last few flames you can see the cloud cover moving offshore an indication by north, northeast wind but not before we have low 30s to mid 40s. no doubt about it it's a cool morning. some of the temperatures kenwood along with saratoga, clayton and around concord 39 degrees. big low up in pacific north west that's heading inland. as it does the high is building in rapidly behind that. 38-48. our cold and breezy here. we will have sunshine but breezy conditions. can't lose that yet but tomorrow we will. 58 sunny and breezy. windy along the coast. 50s, 60s, and low 70s.

that north wind helps napa closer to town and also santa rosa. sunshine lots of it and warmer temperatures. especially sunday and monday. time now 6:49. americans had more money and they spent it in march according to the commerce department. personal income was half a percent and consumer spending jumped six tenths of a percent. much of that extra money was spent on gasoline and foods which we see incoming price ifs. now they are forecasting it to hold steady as the cost of the necessities just continues to increase. let's take a look at your number this morning. the dow is up 33 points. we are looking at good numbers this morning. investigators are happy because we had earnings reports coming in from cat pillar and bell weather companies. and those reports actually higher than analyst expected.
