see the wedding. they'll tell you why, next on ktvu channel 2 news at noon. good afternoon. we are following a breaking story of a rescue in the oakland hills just 15 minutes ago. fire rescue team pulled a victim up more than 100 feet a hillside along claremont avenue near grizzly peak boulevard many the injured person was taken from a silver suv that appears to have gone off the road and down the hillside. you can see these pictures from news chapper 2 as the crews worked hard to bring the victim up from the steep hillside where you can see it looks like some of the tracks of the car wept down the hill. we will update you on the condition of the injured person as more information becomes available. the final launch of the space shuttle endeavour has been delayed because of a mechanical failure. commander mark kelly and his

crew were on their way to the launch pad just a few hours ago when nasa stopped the countdown. engineers say they could not get two heaters working on the auxiliary power unit. nasa is hoping to try again on monday. wounded congresswoman gabrielle giffords had left her hospital bed two days ago in order to attend the launch >> it's not clear if giffords will head back to texas today but she may meet with president obama and the first family. this is video of the first family from less than an hour ago. they are still planning to visit the kennedy space center despite the cancellation of the shuttle launch. on his way to florida today, president obama this morning stopped in alabama to survey the devastation from wednesday's training of tornadoes. mr. obama and the first lady toured tuscaloosa where homes

william and kate exchanged vows. they then headed to buckle ham palace on an open carriage where they exchanged their kiss in public. the moment on the balcony was especially en -- en deeing. -- endearing. it was not one kiss but two kisses. not only for the guests but the throngs of people lining the streets hoping to get enough close glimpse of a historic royal celebration. as early as 8:15 a.m. london time, guests began arriving at westminster abbey where the ceremony was held. among them, celebrities like david and victoria beckham and elton john.

moving, some of it passing the missile. and traffic going the other way is fine. getting back to the royal wedding coverage. the royal wedding ended before the sun rose for watchers on the west coast. ktvu's jade hernandez attended a few watch party. >> 21 flat screen tvs captured it. her mother his london and called her from the westminster abbey. so kate's british roots making watching inevitable. that's the pomp and circumstance, the royalty. it's part of my heritage. so there is no way i would not have seen it. >> reporter: the san jose british pub offered about 100 people a chance to watch the royal wedding together while eating a traditional english breakfast. >> as i watched the first one and this one every bit as good. i love the pomp and pageantry. i'm a royalist.

>> reporter: some wore union jacks and others wore traditional british wedding hats. as these two walked down the aisle, eyes followed them out the door and beyond. some even predicted in the way that the royal couple will operate. >> they say that the commoner will change opinions. >> we're going to see two things. kate is going to make a big impact on what's going to happen in the future. >> they actually know each other. that's biggest difference. they knew each other and became a couple after that. >> we want these young people to be happy. i think that's kind of the reason why we are out here support that go >> we caught royal watches entering the royal hotel. >> the whole pomp and circumstance thing, we brits do that rather well. i think it's something that really attracts people to the u.k. and to the institution like the

mon nary. monarchy. we have an update now. just moments ago, the royal couple has arrived back at buckingham palace for the dinner reception for 300 guests, this one hosted by prince charles. you may have noticed that hats were the ultimate accessory at the royal wedding this morning. some. more memorable hats were worn by prince william's two cuss kins, princesses beatrice and eugeney. a famed irish designer made those hats. some others designed other hats, like this one for victoria beckham. some are called fastennator. hats are of tradition in british weddings and wearers say they were following that trend it's not really royal

fever. but there is playoff fever as the sharks begin the next round of the playoff. kraig debro joins us from san jose to let us taste of the excitement. any tickets left? >> reporter: oh, yes. there have been tickets here. there are tickets left for tonight's sharks playoff game. game 1 is not sold out. we met a couple of faithful fans here this morning. these are the people who know they can buy tickets online but don't like the markup on the prices. ticket buyers also say one gets a wider variety of choices coming here. the sharks will play the detroit red wings. we spotted defenseman jonathan ericson getting out of a cab. >> i think we did pretty evenly in this series. should be a pretty good event this year. they knocked us out of the playoffs last year. >> reporter: minutes later, the sharks to the ice for a morning workout. the sharks made it to the

this video has caused a river between the san francisco chronicle and the white house. the senior reporter shot it when protesters interrunted president obama's private fundraiser last week in san francisco. he was the print pool reporter for the event. she posted the video in addition to the print arl article. the white house has threatened to exclude the paper from future presidential pools. >> some of the protesters actually videoed themselves and uploaded that and some of the other attendees of the fundraiser videoed it and uploaded. what the white house expects says that the reporters will be at a disadvantage compared to an average person >> a washington, d.c. bureau contacted the white house press office this morning but nobody there would contact on the chronicle controversy. just a moment ago, the atlanta braves announced the punishment for their pitching

coach roger mcdowell. the braves placed mcdowell on administrative leave while the team investigates what exactly happened at at&t park this past saturday. the pitching coach used antigay slurs and gestures during an argument with a giant fan at at&t park last weekend. justin quinn, the fan, says mcdowell threatened him when he asked him to watch his language around his young children. mcdowell has since apologized. the quinns' attorney, gloria allred has demand add long suspension and a hefty fine. once again, the braves have placed pitching coach roger mcdowell on administrative leave the city of san pablo is taking steps to fix part of a landslide. it's affecting half a dozen homes on wyman street. ktvu's allie rasmus is reporting on the plan.

>> reporter: the fence is teetering on the edge of the hill, the patio broken in slabs. it's all because of a landslide that happened in march. the walker house is one of six affected. city of san pablo has a plan to fix part of the problem but homeowners remain skeptical. >> if the plan puts me back to the house, that will be great but it does not look like it's going to fix my house completely. >> reporter: the plan calls for drilling metal piers into the hillside. >> it will go to support the home at the top of the hill. >> but some homeowners say that the plans do not go enough. those metal piers are designed to only stabilize the home but not the hillside beneath them. >> it does not in any way shape or form do anything to address the actual slide. >> reporter: fity and homeowners -- if city and homeowners agree to fix this

problem, construction on the temporary solution will begin next week. but that's a big if. that's because city wants homeowners to sign a waiver to prevent lawsuits. >> the waiver is one of the key elements that needs to be in place. >> homeowners plan to turn in the paperwork without the waiver on monday. san jose fire investigators are looking for the cause at a vacant home that used to be a pot club. it is the second fire at the same home in four months. it's not clear if this morning's fire is connectd in any way to the previous fire in january. at that time, the home was used for a canabis club caused herb appeal. the neighbors had to run for cover also. >> i just guided everybody out

as soon as possible. the fire department is already turning the corner. >> this is a photo taken by the neighbor as he evacuated his home. the fire was so hot it burned a hole through his roof and left him with fire and water damage. it took antioch firefighters about an hour and a half to put out this two-alarm fire this morning. chopper 2 brought you these live pictures duringmornings on 2. no one was injured. investigators are looking for the cause. investigators in san francisco are also looking for the cause of an overnight fire in a pot club starting at 10:00 p.m. at 12 and harrison in the market area. firefighters say that the fire only caused minor damage due to the elaborate fire system set by the pot club. no one was hurt. two berkeley police officers were on a mission of mercy to save a deer in

distress. ktvu was there and caught the rescue on camera about three hours ago. a small deer got itself wedged between the bars of an iron fence in north berkeley. the police officers rigged a toe line and pulled the fence apart. the little deer lost no time bringing willing free and running off. good afternoon to you. inching towards the weekend. we have a great weather cast for you, giving you a live look at the golden gate bridge. a little breezy out there at this hour. some advisories this morning. temperature are warming after a chilly start. 51 degrees right now san francisco. 62 oakland. mid-60s at this time in napa. the news is saps for the day will be those winds. take a look at these gusts reported so far this morning. anywhere in the 20 to 25 miles per hour through santa rosa.

good news from caterpillar and other industrial shares ant dow currently up 35 at 12799. the nasdaq i is down 2. the disney wonder cruise ship is making its inaugural call to the port of san francisco. we caught images of the cruise liner as it came into the bay around sen am and now docked at pier 35. the ship is on its way from los angeles to vancouver to begin a summer of cruises to alaska. there are guests onboard right now along with several disney characters who will be enjoying san francisco. kia is issuing a recall for a 58,000 spectras but only in 20 cold weather states. the national highway traffic safety administration says that the straps holding the gas tank are rusty and faulty. if the gas tanks fall into the ground, they could spark a
