anti-american senn meant runs deep in pakistan and citizens criticize their army for failing to protect them. the army is threatening to cut off cooperation with the u.s., if the obama administration stages anymore similar raids in the future. the helicopter left behind in pakistan by the navy seals who killed bin laden is getting some attention. some aviation experts say they have never seen anything like it before. there are suggestions it's a top-secret stealth helicopter that was used by navy seals in the operation. it was damaged by hard landing during the raid and was left at the compound, but there are reports it was removed yesterday. the c.i.a. is reviewing a stash of computers and other information brought back by the seals from bin laden's compound. agents are combing through files of five computers, 100 storage devices, such as flash drives, and 10 hard drivers. officials call it the most

at this hour in oakland a memorial service is underway to honor the 51 police officers killed in the line of duty. this is an annual event that started with the procession through downtown oakland. 90 family members of fallen officers along with city leaders and police rank and file are taking part in the ceremony. that includes the family of officer george wright, who was killed back in 1907. we now know that seven suspected gang members are due in a san francisco court at 1:30 this afternoon in the killing of a german tourist.

last summer's fatal shooting of the man sparked outrage around the world. she and her husband were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and her 50th birthday, when she was shot and killed at union square. investigators say she was caught in a gang shoot-out. yesterday they announced a break in the case, after raids in three bay area cities. four suspects face murder charges, the others are charged with accessory to murder. about two hours ago, firefighters in santa rosa lifted a shelter in place order that had been issued after they found a leaking canister while fighting fire there. the debris fire and the suspicious tank were in a backyard on kearny street. when they fun to the tank, firefighters backed off and called in the hazardous materials team. they figured on the the tank contained hydrogen chloride, fluoride and gas, a poisonous gas mixture used in industry.

cruise, they'll just park and unfortunately a byproduct of that is people begin to congregate around the vehicles. >> parking won't be allowed on several blocks of santa clara claire street until 2 tom morning and the sheriff's office will be out looking for drunk drivers. today is the starts of a san jose program for people who want to have gang-related tattoos removed. teens and young adults who complete a 10-week program can get tattoos removed free of charge. the course includes lessons on top, like trust, communication, and career prospects. once participants complete the course in july, they will qualify to have their tattoos removed for free. a new twist for the state budget. more money has been found. $2.3billion to be exact due to additional income tax payments. this will help close the remaining $15 billion budget deficit. but it's also putting a wrench in the governor's plan to

balance the budget. he wants voters to extend more than $11 billion of taxes and fees that are about to expire. those extensions have been strongly opposed by republicans who just want more spending cuts. but people we asked this morning are okay with extending taxes. >> appear less taxes move to a cheaper state. >> what they'll do is add taxes, but will they spend the money wisely? >> while personal income taxes are higher than expected, corporate taxes are $650 million below projections. leaders in the california state senate and assembly are turning down media requests to open up their appointment calendars. legislative leaders say it would be an invasion of privacy and pose a security risk and it's a violation of legislative privilege. the news organizations say it's important for the public to know how elected officials are spending their time and who they're meeting with.

temperatures warming up nicely across the entire bay area. looking outside right now, towards berkeley, already enjoying hazy sunshine out there. and currently berkeley in the low to mid-70s. checking in at 76 degrees. right now the fog is mainly to the south of the bay area. it's way down to the south. but closer to santa barbara and southern california. but as we wake up into early tomorrow morning we will be tracking more fog patches approaching our coastline. right now here's a look at some of the numbers just updated. already tracking a few low 80s for santa rosa, fairfield, concord and livermore. livermore right now 85. san francisco 66. and oakland in the upper 70s, around 77 degrees. we'll call it sunny and warm. tomorrow, pappy fog and we'll be cooler, and the weekend a significant dropoff in readings. also thicken up the clouds. at left partly cloudy and maybe a few mostly cloudy observations first thing sunday morning for mother's day. but high pressure remains in command of the weather future

today. but we'll begin to cool off for the coast today compared to yesterday a little cooler. also right around the bay closer to san francisco, temperatures coming down about 4 to 8 degrees from yesterday's readings. but that's just the beginning of the cooling trend. the temperature profiles as you head into the weekend as the system moves in from the north. this will be the source of a few extra clouds and in terms of rain chances there's a slight chance the north of the bay area closer to eureka and redding. but mainly a few clouds and also temperatures dropping off as we head into the weekend. for today, enjoy the warm temperatures. by 4:00, there's the range for most areas. upper 60s to the upper 80s. by 7:00, we'll call it mild, 60 to 75 degrees. and then 10 tonight, mostly clear skies, mid-50s to mid- 60s. but by 10:00 tonight, we could have a few patches of fog approaching parts of our shoreline. here's the numbers and some warm numbers towards santa rosa. fairfield, and antioch and brentwood. san francisco right around 70 and oakland 81 degrees.

san jose tops out 86. mountainview 83. and half moon bay in the upper 60s. here's a look ahead. your 5-day forecast will be watching patchy fog, coastside as you can see into friday. but then for the weekend, a big dropoff in the temperatures from saturday and especially into sunday as we thicken up the clouds and only 60s out there for sunday. we'll gradually warm up the next week for monday and into tuesday. but it's one of those deals where whenever we have sunshine and warm temperatures, you can almost count the days, and then the fog comes back. so it will come back probably by tomorrow. >> okay. thank you, mark. san francisco's police chief and his command staff are getting rid of their gas guzzlers. the chief informed his top brass just yesterday they'll be trade engine their crown vices and suffers for hybrid vehicles. it's unclear how the city will pay pay for the new vehicles but the gas mileage is expected to help save money. the crown victorias get between 14 and 19 miles to the our.

several new studies show americans are using less gas. today's rise in claims for unemployment benefits suggests fewer people are driving to work and even these with jobs are cutting back on driving to save money. gas prices rose for the 44th consecutive day, while crude oil is now down to $100 a barrel. the idea of a carpool lane on highway 101 in san mateo county is again under consideration. local transportation officials are about to launch a $200,000 engineering study on the impact of a carpool lane. it may run from whipple avenue in redwood city to the san francisco county line. there's no room to add a new lane, however, so it would be created by converting one of four regular lanes into a carpool lane. prince william and his new bride are coming to california. this is video of the couple after their wedding last friday. their visit overseas will be the first official trip as a

married couple. william and kate will first spend a week in canada, they will arrive in california on july 8th, and spend three days here. the palace has not released their itinerary so we don't know if they'll visit the bay area. but it will be kate's first visit ever to the u.s. we have mixed news on the economy just ahead. also, a development late this morning concerning donald trump and the debate over whether he should drive a car in the indianapolis 500.

turning into a bad afternoon nor the dow at least, dropping significantly down almost 200 points right now. a big concern as the health of the job market, also oil dropping below 100 dollars a barrel now, down to 98. gold at 1477. and the dollar is reversing, going higher today. right now the dow down 191. nasdaq down 20. s&p is down 17. today the labor department says the number of americans outs of work jumped unexpectedly last week, 474,000 people filed for first-time unemployment benefits. that is up 43,000 from the week before. and the third time in four weeks the number has increased. experts had forecast a drop in the number of first-time claims. and today individual retailers are reporting strong april sales.
