sometime after 7:00 this morning. the road to parole has been very controversy. in fact, former governor arnold schwarzenegger tried to stop this. since his conviction and imprisonment, he's apparently been a model prisoner, earning his get and working without -- ged and working with -- without recuse. back live out here in front of san quentin state prison. why all of the controversy? well, obviously this is the killing of a family member and it's torn the family apart. so much so that morgan's mother

park neighborhood. kraig debro is back. there's new information. kraig? >> reporter: yeah, dave. i just talked to a guy who does maintenance. the man was wounded. you can see the businesses down there. there is a mix of homes and businesses. "the marin independent journal" says someone the woman talked with somebody in the home and a man went for help. police say the man from corte madera died as he staggered to his home. the marin i.j. says the person at the home saying someone came up to the driveway saying help me! help me! and he collapsed.

the explorer sped off. it turns out the people in both of these vehicles had already battled minutes earlier. >> prior to that call, we had a couple of reports of two cause and possibly bats and sticks -- calls of possibly bats and sticks. >> reporter: two other people are believed to be involved in the deadly fight, which started here, sought treatment at the emergency room at the same hospital. they got treatment and police are questioning them about what happened and why. neighbors gave detailed descriptions of both vehicles. they would later stop an explorer based on those descriptions. they are still looking for one outstanding vehicle and people inside of that car. it's described as a white pontiac. we got a license plate number here. license plate number is -- let me find it on my sheet. you can see it on your screen -- it's 3 ulg 274.

mom. when though spotted them, they spotted them in a parking lot, at which time they took them safely into custody. >> police are still looking for george rodriquez, the woman's boyfriend. police are not releasing details about the case. police in santa cruz say a very dangerous camper is in custody this morning. officers arrested 47-year-old paul valeras in a camping area. it was got an easy one, they say his dog tried to attack them. they say the suspect refused to call his job off. the officers were shaken up but not hurt. a federal grand jury in san jose has indicted three federal officials and a contractor. the indictment claims the owner

a second man suffered minor burns while he was trying to help his coworker. it's not clear how the man's hand became trapped. 7:09. the fight against childhood obesity is going to a whole new level in san antonio. several teachers are tracking what they eat. they are taking pictures of their lunch trays. two pictures are taken, one before they eat and then another after they eat and that will -- and then they calculate the calories eaten and that information is passed onto the parents. the abused of disabled placards in san francisco is getting brand-new attention. disability say the number of people using those placards has skyrocketed. those placards allow people to park for free for an unlimited amount time at the meters.

welcome back. this is what people in chico are seeing this morning. several billboards all around town pushing for more police on the street es. the chico police officers association is paying for those billboards, the message includes -- gangs are hiring. why aren't we? and too many criminals, too few cops. chico, like other cities, are having a budget problem limiting the number of officers on the streets. a blackjack player at the tropicana casino in atlantic city won nearly $6 million. it's the single largest win in the casino's history. the casino says its win caused the revenue to drop by 54% on table games and by 20% overall. it made me think of some of those movies like "ocean 11."

hey, sal, what's happening on 101 in san francisco? >> well, we're watching it because -- to see what the traffic is light. maybe it's a little light he than it has been -- lighter than it has been. the bay bridge toll plaza, we're not gonna show it to you this -- i won't go into it. it's slow i can barely see it. it's backed up for a 10 to 15- minute delay. the dumbarton traffic looks good. northbound 101 at shoreline boulevard, there's a crash there. if you are driving into the south bay, northbound is slow because of that crash. 280 is also slow coming up on the lawrence expressway and southbound 280 is slow coming up on the lawrence expressway. let's go to steve. thank you, sir. we have low clouds around. but there's breaks in the clouds.

time unemployment claims. the government says 4 34,000 people filed initial claims last week. that's a drop of 44,000, the steepest decline of february -- since february of last year. but the number of continuing claims was up over 5,000, just up by three-quarters. more than two out of five people asked believe the economy will continue to improve. one-third think it will stay the same. and 2004 for first time in a few years, approve with how president obama is dealing with the economy. a 3-year-old girl is in the hospital this morning. her mother is under arrest. pam cook's in our newsroom now with who the police are desperately trying to find. >> well, police are calling this a severe case of child abuse that sent a little girl
