early have been set up now. now as you said it has been almost 7 weeks since the attack on brian stowe, this is the first week for the giants and dodgers. so here is video of the officers coming in early, the officers and security on stand- by. police say they have done a lot to try to capture them. they put up billboards all over los angeles, showing a description of the people they think attacked stowe, after that he was put in a coma, and on monday he was flown back to san francisco for more treatment. now one fan i spoke to said he knows about what happened, but feels safe despite the incident. >> one of the people working there said if there was a problem, said move me, everybody is real friendly here. >> reporter: now officers are focusing the investigation on the latest incident, the woman who drove the vehicle the two men left in that night.

here is a description of her, believed to be in her 20s, 5'2"- three, latino, and wearing a a pony tail, she was wearing a number 16 jersey with andre ethier on it. they are releasing that, and saying they have a $200,000 reward. they're doing all they can to make sure this happens. right now there are not a lot of fans, but we'll talk to what the people think about the negative publicity they're getting, more coming up at 6:00. live, los angeles, paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 action news. and today we learned of a small sign of improvement on brian stowe's condition. more from san francisco. >> reporter: i just got off the phone with the san francisco general officials. and i can tell you now up in the icu there is a lot of hope and sobering reality. >> brian stowe remains in critical condition.

>> reporter: the surgeon told us after stowe was transferred there on monday, the medical team was able to stop one of his five high dose anti-seizure medications. >> i am happy to report that he has had no further seizure activity. >> reporter: the 42-year-old paramedic was severely beaten outside the stadium 48 days ago, been in a coma since. they have a top reputation for brain injury recovery there. >> this place is going to bring him back. i have hope. >> reporter: they say they worked a miracle on his cousin. >> within a couple of months, he was up and walking just like normal. gunshot to the head . >> reporter: the doctors say this type of injury is very complicated, but brian is responding. >> he is showing some functions, but again how that relates to his long-term care as we discussed with the family, is still unclear. >> reporter: and doctors say over the next few weeks they

will reduce the rest of his medicines, they say to better understand his true functioning. ktvu, channel 2 action news. and the crews there and here in the bay area getting more information. we continue the coverage of the brian stowe incident on our website at ktvu.com and click on the stowe tab, where you find the constantly updated section. and breaking news, cars collided with a bike rider, happening about 4:10 this afternoon in the 4100 block of sierra road in san jose. the accident happened during the tour of california race. but authorities can't confirm that the accident involved a competitor. police say the bike rider suffered major injuries. we'll have more on this report later in the news cast. and tonight we're learning a lot of new information about arnold schwarzenegger and the child he had with his former housekeeper, including her name, where she lives and who paid for her house. ktvu rita williams has more on

the story. confirming that the governor had two sons just five days apart. >> well, frank, traditional news organizations confirmed today what other magazines reported last night. that the mother of arnold schwarzenegger's teenage son is 50-year-old patty baena, a housekeeper for the former governor and his family for 20 years. today news crews were swarming around her bakersfield home, and a real estate agent said that the former governor bought it for her and her children late last year, for about a quarter of a million. >> i feel for the young boy more than anything, because he is a very, very nice polite young man. >> we're told he had no idea during her pregnancy that she told him -- when he was a toddler. like i said the boy is 13 now. but when he was a toddler we're told that arnold found out. he has taken care of her since.

>> reporter: birth certificates found out that shriver's fourth and last question, christopher, was born september 27th, 1997. five days later, schwarzenegger, apparently he didn't know, had another son, this one with baena. the name of her husband of 10 years is listed on the birth certificate. they separated three weeks later, but in papers filed for a divorce in 2008, patty baena said that the marriage produced no minor children. now schwarzenegger's ex-wife marie shriver appeared last night at the taping of her friend, oprah winfrey's last show. some news organization now reported that patty baena threatened to go public early this year and that is what prompted the former governor on the longer employ baena and to finally tell his wife. reporting live in the news room, rita williams, ktvu channel 2 action news. and we have more on the sex scandal coming up here in 30

city administrator. and deciding early to keep the city's controversial gang injunction program in place. our ktvu crews were there just after midnight when council members voted 4-3 to continue the program. the injunction identified gang members from associating with one another, wearing gang colors or being in a safety zone in north oakland after 10:00. another injunction in the fruit vale injunction says it will make life harder. oakland's police chief says that he thinks gang injunctions work and he believes that an independent review will help to address concerns over racial profiling. and defense secretary robert gates says he thinks somebody in pakistan new that usama bin laden was hiding there. this comes on the heels of usama bin laden being killed by

the navy seals. gates says it may take a while to find out if people in pakistan were protecting usama bin laden. but gates says there is still no evidence that top leadership in the country knew he was there. >> i have seen some evidence to the contrary. and we have no evidence yet with respect to anybody else. my idea is that somebody did. >> gates spoke in the middle of growing anger in congress. many lawmakers want to cut aid to pakistan unless it takes strong action against militants using a safe haven. and coming up, graduation ceremony for the coast guard cadet, the words of warning and the reaction from the military graduates about to take on a dangerous duty. and united airlines apologizing. a spokesperson for the carrier says that technical errors were to blame for the reinstatement of the numbers.

they went back into use on monday for the first time since the attack. the numbers have been removed from the airline's computers. and republican house speaker john boehner wrapped up the visit. he capped that last night with a host by the executives at hp and applied materials. it was his first trip here since taking over nancy pelosi's position as house speaker. last night's event was private. guests paid at least 2500 to be there. on monday he held a fundraiser at san francisco's ritz carlton. and a plan for a fee hike in student fees. the final word is expected to be made at the next regent's meeting in july. also today they named leland as the new chancellor with a salary of 310,000 a year, along with a car and moving cost

allowance. leland is the president of georgia college and state university. if you ask any graduating senior, they will tell you they knew this, the job market is tough for recent graduates, only half of recent graduates who have health insurance get it through their work. just less than half say their first jobs didn't really require a degree. those who graduated between 2006 and 2008 did better than those who graduated in 2009 or last year. the median starting salary for the earlier grady graduates, 30,000 for the last two years, it is 27,000. and a jump in commodity prices helping to rally. the dow adds 80, the nasdaq was up 31. and desperate, arrogant, that is how the prosecution

. there was supposed to be a hearing this week for barry bonds in which the details of his sentencing was discussed along with whether or not the prosecutors would retry him. but it won't happen, the hearing will be in june. he was convicted of one count of obstruction of justice regarding the performance enhancing drugs, prosecutors have not said if they will retry bond on charges. and the trial of yusef bey who was accused of ordering the death of bailey, was held. more on the story. >> reporter: well, yusef bey the fourth sat calmly here at the alameda county courthouse as the prosecutor told the jury

he believed he was above the law and that he ordered the murder of the journalist, chauncey bailey. in her closing arguments, the district attorney said that the members of the your black muslim bakery did whatever he told them, including murder. yusef bey thought he was above the law, he acted and talked like it. it is a gang mentality. she played a portion of the videotape that the investigators recorded, talking about silencing witnesses. crum said by 2007, yusef bey was trying to save the shop from collapse. he was worried that chauncey bailey's rating could hurt the chances to raise money. and that he said they needed to stop him, so he didn't stop the chances of keeping the bakery

. some good news for the people who spent days trying to save the huge tree there, grandmother. the general manager of the public utilities commission requested a halt to construction around that 300- year-old oak tree in san mateo county. he said the legislature will consider alternatives to cutting it down, the tree stands in the way of a 5 billion project, a water delivery system. some residents claim the tree is protected under the ordinance that recognizes specific species of trees as a great asset. and tonight it is game two

terry childs worked on the computer system and for nine days refused to tell anybody what the pass word was for the system. a judge ordered him to pay one and a half million to the city's department of technology, which the city says is the cost it was to fix the system. childs recently finished a four year jail sentence. and new information on the case of a stand-off with the robbery suspect holding a knife in berkeley, police say that khalif entered the home this morning. as was first reported on ktvu channel 2 action news at noon, dozens of officers swarmed the area. police say the suspect was chased from another house after being confronted with a bat. officers found him with a knife, and later officers talked him into surrendering about 10:00 this morning. and president obama told the coast guard cadets at graduation that despite the threat of usama bin laden, the threat of terror is far from over. the address was presented in

race. ktvu's robert honda has more on the story, after a cyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a car. robert do we know if that was connected in any way to the race? >> reporter: well i think it probably was in terms of circumstances. we're here on sierra road, where the accident took place above us on a stretch where it was crowded with fans near the end of the race. we're talking with officials to learn more about what caused it. but we do know he was taken to the hospital with major injuries. it made some of the fans sad, they're trying to resume some of the party atmosphere. getting back to the race, we're on the difficult portion that frank mentioned, the steep climb which made for an exciting day and race. but fans had to get an early start to be a part of it. >> reporter: at least 100 of the cyclists took off from livermore for the race. while fans and others went wild, others joined in because well it is supposed to be a

times this year to cover rising prices. and a woman in michigan says the offer to sell her cousin on ebay was just a joke, but police are not laughing. autumn braden listed the name. they thought it was a hoax. braden says she was trying to figure out how ebay works. police say they don't think she was really trying the sell the child and that she likely wouldn't be charged. and an fda panel recommending different dosing instructions be added to labels to protect very young children. the panel is calling for more dosing information on the labels. they the fda panel says that the lack of dosing information can lead to parents accidentally giving too much medicine to very young children. the panel's recommendations are

not binding, but the fda almost always goes along with what the panel advises. also to keep your little one safe tonight, a new study out for how common it is for baby products to contain the toxic chemicals. the scientists tested 100 items such as baby carriers, portable cribs and rocking chairs, finding 80 contained the chemicals. some are linked to memory, hormone production and cancer, experts say parents should consider buying baby products containing down, wool and other materials unlikely to have added fire retardants. and a standard at major airports now coming to napa. how that changes the game at smaller airports, still ahead. and the rain has moved on, the temperatures are on the increase, i'll show you which cities will be the warmest as we head to thursday

were today. watch where they go on friday. so today we had upper 50s at the coast, upper 60s inland. by friday in the 70s inland. low 70s around the bay. so a nice warmup into friday. the bay area weekend looks nice as well. and the storm moves out, causing all sorts of problems for folks in the rockies. high pressure building in, you have seen this before. once the lows leave, the highs come in. we head for a warming trend. it wouldn't be hot, not going to have high fire danger or bad air quality. it will be warmer, not hard to be warmer, considering temperatures in the 50s and the rain that we've seen. tomorrow morning, patchy coastal fog, right here, down to pacifica and we see little patches of fog. coastal fog back in the spring forecast. some clouds move in as we head into friday, saturday and sunday. just filtered sunshine, keeping temperatures mainly in the mid- 70s and we roll into the bay area weekend.
