officers and police were giving last minute details. the officers were handing out security fliers, and i'm working to get copies and show you what is in it. and besides that, there are motorcycle officers and of course officers on foot. now the officers put up billboards and descriptions of the men who they believe beat stowe at the game. after that stowe was put in a medical coma. and we spoke to fans, this is what they said. >> i think it is an isolated incident, i don't think it would happen again. >> nothing like that should ever happen here at any stadium. after to have it happen here where fans like to have a friendly environment it is really a shame. >> reporter: now you're looking at a description of the person who is believed to have driven the getaway car. the police believe she is in her 20s, 5'2" or three, latino,

wearing a pony tail, and on the right side here you can see she was wearing this andre ethier jersey, number 16. once again now, the officers are out here in force, on horseback, bike, every way possible. i was told we were given an update on brian stowes, and we were seeing what was happening with him. john fowler has more on that railroad . >> on that. >> reporter: right now doctors say he is in critical condition still, but signs of progress continue. >> however i'm happy to report that after 30 hours of e o g monitoring he has had no further activity. >> reporter: they say after he was transferred to san francisco monday he was able to stop one of five high dose anti- seizure medicines. the 42-year-old paramedic was severely beaten outside dodgers stadium 48 days ago. >> i think it is great that he is closer to home.

and i think having his family around him will help him to make more progress. >> reporter: it is known as a top place for recovery. >> this will bring him back. >> reporter: they say they worked a miracle on his cousin. >> within a couple of months he was up and walking just like normal. gunshot to the head. >> reporter: doctors say traumatic brain injury is very complicated, even mysterious. but that stowe now briefly opens his eyes and responds to pressure stimulus. >> he is beginning to show pressure functions, but again, how it relates to the long-term progress is still unclear as we related to the family. >> reporter: doctors say in the next few weeks they will reduce the rest of his medicine to better understand, they say, his true brain function. reporting live, john fowler, ktvu. and ktvu.com has a special session dedicated to brian stowe, including the police sketches of the two suspects. investigators are still searching for them and a link to how you can help his family.

and an update now on a story we broke last night, a more than 100-year-old war memorial returned to the city of oakland five days after somebody stole it. only ktvu's eric rasmussen was there after the city got it back. live in oakland and how one man cracked the case. >> reporter: well believe it or not, the man was working at a recycling unit close by where the thieves made off with the giant port hole or gun hole. you can see they had to do serious work to get it off the base here. and late this afternoon, police tell me the guy they arrested claimed that he bought the thing on craigslist. they may not be able to buy his story yet, but he says he is just glad to have a piece of history back. the city of oakland needs a heavy duty truck with a crane to get back this element. the thieves stole it, it had little more than a few wooden

history. that torpedo port had been on this display here for the last 100 years. the city says it is now considering giving this thing a new home in the veteran's building here at lakeside park. we are live in oakland, eric rasmussen, ktvu. and coming up at 6:15, thieves target a house of worship in san francisco, the valuable items they took there. and on the hunt for a bank robbery suspect, showing you the scene here on telegraph, officers say it happened this afternoon at about 3:30, saying the suspect walked up to a teller, demanding cash. he then made off with $2000. police say this do have surveillance video that may help them track down the suspect. and a two-time convicted bay area rapist received a second life term today. 25-year-old kevin anthony of santa rosa was sentenced 25 years to life in prison, plus 84 years for the rape of an 87-

year-old woman in 2005. anthony will serve that sentence on top of the life sentence he received earlier for the rape of a young girl. and nevada police still don't know what killed a man whose body was found buried in his back yard. the investigators put up a blue tent in february as they carefully removed the body from a recently built barbecue. a coroner's report released said that dale smith's body is too badly decome posted to say how he died, but it rules out poisoning or a violent injury. and getting a chance to decide whether or not male circumcision should be a crime. city officials say enough signatures were collected to put the initiative on the ballot. that would ban the circumcision of males younger than 18, making the practice a misdemeanor. the supporters of the ban call the circumcision a form of cutting up. opponentings opponents say it

is a violation of religious freedom. and at the center of a storm, live in bakersfield. they are learning more about the boy and his mother. good evening, brandy. >> reporter: you know this is a media circus out here in bakersfield. there are stations from around the country, even the networks now parked in front of this home. the live vans, clearly parked down the street from the home. all because of the reports that the mother of arnold schwarzenegger's love child lived inside that house. >> they're just a nice family, nice neighbors. >> reporter: neighbors have nothing but nice things to say about 50-year-old patty baena, and her 14-year-old son who we now learned is the love child of former governor arnold schwarzenegger. >> we knew that she had worked for arnold schwarzenegger and was working and that she would commute back and forth to los angeles. >> reporter: patty worked as a

housekeeper and personal assistant for the schwarzeneggers for 20 years. after buying this bakersfield home last year, neighbors say at first she just spent weekends here. but a couple of months back mentioned she was retiring and has been here full-time with her son . >> this young man is just at the top end of being polite. and being very kind, and just -- somebody you want to be around. >> reporter: neighbors say he loved to play basketball, is into martial arts and a fundraiser for charities. they, like the rest of the world, had new idea who his father was new this. >> this is a life changing thing that happened since last night. >> reporter: while the home and mortgage is in baena's name, the times reported that schwarzenegger took responsibility for the child once he learned he was the father, about the time the boy was a toddler . >> this boy was born one week apart from marie's son, christopher. so they were separated by birth

at one week. arnold is not listed on the birth certificate. >> reporter: after admitting to the affair, schwarzenegger is now separated from shriver. after being married for 22 years, they are now separated. and now baena and her son are now caught in the middle of a media circus. >> we are just sad, he is a nice young man and i'm sure will get tied up in all of this. >> reporter: live in bakersfield. ktvu channel 2 action news. and schwarzenegger is not the first and probably won't be the last politician caught cheating. but some say in the end the scandal may not hurt his career. >> sometimes politicians -- i wouldn't say they're helped by scandals. but it can actually make voters pay attention to them and remember them more. >> reporter: san jose state research director linda jackson says that the former governor was smart to take responsibility for his actions, instead of trying to cover them up. past examples include newsom

who continued his career, and apologized for having an affair with his campaign manager's life. and definitely not going to run for mayor in november, lee said. this comes a day after the board of supervisors voted to change the city charter to let lee have his old job back once he leaves office in january. he was the city's administrator before he was appointed as interim mayor. and a cyclist seriously hurt after colliding with a car in san jose. it happened during the tour of the amgen california race. the biker was struck at sierra road at 4:00 this afternoon. we just learned a short time ago the victim was a fan, not a competitor in the race. the cyclist was taken to the hospital with major injuries. now the tour of california made its way through the bay area today. 178 of the world's top cyclists took off from livermore this morning for the race's fourth

stage. the cyclists began to arrive at the finish line in san jose at 3:00 this afternoon. the crowds greeted them at the end of their 82-mile stage. >> it is a great event, and luckily we get to have the finish here today. that is what makes the difference. so we need more finishes in san jose. and chris horner took the stage today, stage five is tomorrow. it is the 135-mile ride to casaroble. and the ahead of california teachers association says the battle is far from over. they added money for kindergarten to 12th grade education. >> it will be there for a year, the districts are fighting for more permanent stable funding so they can plan past just a year. >> the teacher's association staged this rally last week at the state capitol. they say they will continue to pressure state lawmakers to

. a san francisco church says that thieves have stolen some of the hand rails. we shot this video this morning at st. francis church on church street. ktvu received a tip that thieves had stolen the bronze hand rails that led to the terrace. the church says the hand rails were taken on april 30th. the rails were used by people attending daily meetings and services and other businesses,

the church is working on replacing them. and today, david stevenson spoke with the chief about the new tool that could shed more light on the work that plain clothes officers do. >> reporter: and we learned more details about some of the plain clothes officers under investigation for the actions seen on surveillance video, and the plans to outfit other officers with cameras. the san francisco police chief today said that in six weeks he hopes to outfit plain clothes police officers with $100 mounted cameras, to document the residential searches. >> i just think it is time the officers are protected, and that we have video of our own to show the proper conduct. >> reporter: the plain clothes police officers are under fire and under investigation for possibly search and rescue violations, during recent drug busts captured on surveillance video. the pickup defender says that two cops seen in separate drug busts stole the items from the people arrested.

they gave us more details about the officers under investigation. >> certain officers were involved more than others, they were put on administrative duties, and the others were put in uniform. >> reporter: they field tested these cameras that record audio and video. the public defender says they don't solve underlying issues of misconduct. >> video cameras on police may be part of the answer, but this is really about making sure that everybody in the criminal justice system, whether you're a police officer, judge, prosecutor, or defense attorney, that you act with integrity. >> reporter: he emphasizes officers under investigation are innocent until proven guilty. but he got more information at a crime and justice meeting today. >> the policemen document think that the citizens have the same rights as people in pacific heights and think it is okay to break down their door. >> reporter: san francisco's mayor and some of the police

commissioners who would vote on the cop cameras say they would support them to help maintain public trust. reporting live, san francisco, david stevenson, ktvu. and the family of a explain bay area restaurant owner is suing the men convicted of his murder. the attorney for his family says that the wrongful suit allegations include a variety of charges, for the two. the two were found guilty in the 2008 shooting death of the 53-year-old achille, he owned the restaurant until he sold them to garcia in 2007. and a fiscal major for the third year in a romeo row, the board of directors will hold a meeting in oakland. ac transit is facing an estimated 14 million budget shortfall for the next fiscal year. muni rolling out a new plan to ease the trip for riders on

the most crowded light rail line. a six month pilot program is being looked at for commute hours. it will take them from the outer sunset to the financial district with limited stops along the way. the express will launch on june 13th, nearly a third of the street car riders take the juda line. a military jet crashed, we just learned that the military plane crashed on take-off at the ventura county naval air station here in california. from the looks of it, it could be something along the lines of a c-130. it is not a fighter jet, but a transport plane it appears. we don't have all the information at this time. we are working to get more details. as we do, we'll bring you more details. the headline here from southern california, some type of naval plane has crashed in southern

california. all right, we are going to take a break on that and try to get more information. meanwhile, we'll go the bill for a check of the weather. yes, we have clouds out there right now, clearing out tonight. let's look at tracker two. a report of light sprinklings in the north bay, temperatures out there right now are in the mid-60s. the forecast for tomorrow, more sunshine, but before that happens, it starts off cool. temperatures in the low 40. we get into here tomorrow, as that system moves out high pressure sets up. all the inclement weather is going east, you will hear about it in the next 48 hours as it heads to the basin and plains, where we could see severe weather. and moving up to friday, thursday, the high pressure dominates our pattern right into the bay area weekend. so with the high pressure here, the warmer temperatures are in the offing. today we see temperatures in the mid-60s. tomorrow, 70s, maybe some 80s as we go into friday.

but the basic temperature transcribed, that is what you wanted to see, warmer as we go through time. the computer model says patchy fog developing tomorrow morning. coastal fog now. patchy fog now in the forecast. really right through the weekend. a few high clouds come in on friday, saturday, sunday as well. this filtered sunshine will allow temperatures to just get into the 70s, mid-70s, won't go much out of that, upper 70s on saturday. forecasted highs saturday, 70s, warmer than today. the forecast shakes out like this. you can see that we have some clouds in there, but no rain, basically a much nicer weather pattern. warmer daytime highs as we move towards the weekend. >> that sounds nice, thank you. and we'll be right back with more after this

. more now on that developing news, the breaking news in southern california where a -- we're just learning what type of aircraft -- this crash was a military plane, a boeing 707 tanker, crashed just a short time ago at the naval base in ventura county, near oxnard. it is a coastal area in southern california. we just learned again it was a boeing 707 tanker with three people on board. a crew of three.
