way. let's check in with rosemary. >> we continue with the same pattern. partly cloudy skies. the sea breeze will be back again in the afternoon. really picking up by the second half of the day. our highs, well, we're going to drop off just a bit. meanwhile this morning, we're also walking up cooler. we'll take a look at current conditions and break down that sunday for you, coming up. three people are in the hospital this morning after an explosion at a livermore apartment complex. it happened near school street. live with more on the gruesome scene. >> reporter: claudine, police are here at this hour, we've been here all night. that's because this is considered a crime scene. they're just waiting for investigators to arrive this morning. you can see why. just take a look behind me. you can see the damage here that was done by that explosion. even blew out the windows sh

and just left debris. police and firefighters arrived and found flames and smoke comes from the five unit apartment complex. the force of that explosion caused glass to shatter. authorities found two men in his 20s, another in his 30s suffering from burns. >> there's people laying on the ground screaming. the gentleman who lived in the apartment, his hand was completely blown off, and the woman who lived with him, she was covered in blood. it was a horrific scene. >> reporter: the four other families who lived in the other units had to be relocated. police say the explosion is suspicious. neighbors tell us, they believe someone may have been making drugs in the apartment complex. authorities though, have not confirmed that information.

back out here on the scene, police are just waiting for investigators to arrive, because they want to actually go inside the apartment complex and collect evidence to really figure out what happened here. they also believe that the fire marshal may also be back out here to determine if the building is structurally stable. as far as the victims go, we hear they are in critical condition at area hospitals. san francisco police are searching for three suspects after a shooting in the bay view district. it happened just before 12:30 this morning on third and pilal. flee people approach -- three people approached him, and tried to take a laptop and shot the victim. the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. in oakland, police are also investigating the shooting of a

man in a car. detectives say the victim was sitting inside a green lexus when he was shot, someone drove him to highland hospital in that lexus, he later died at the hospital. one person is dead after a motorcycle accident in san francisco. it happened at 40s and juda. it's still not clear what led up to the accident and the victim has not been identified. fairfield police are looking for three siblings this morning, after they disappeared from a park. officials say 10-year-old trinity richardson, 5-year-old gregory, and 6-year-old liliana normally stay with their grandmother and the children were last seen on kentucky street yesterday. they believe the siblings may be with their transient mother. lopez mighting driving a white

ford explorer. an amber alert for stockton children is over this morning. michele moore and ilene were found safe with their mother. their father claimed someone stole his car with his two children still in the backseat. stockton police say the father now lied about the abduction and the children were with their mother the entire time. san jose police are searching for the owner of a horse that crashed through a store window. it smashed through the window of a american store, called hammer and lewis fashions on white road. the horse became stuck in the window and an employee had to call police. officers had to shoot the horse because it was severely injured. the leader of oakland's family radio network said the rapture would come at 6:00 last night. the deadline passed without

incident. ktvu tried talking to him after 6:00 p.m. at his home, but no one answered the door. a neighbor tells us, he truly believed in his prediction and made it years ago. >> he made it 17 years ago in 1994, and it was really under the radar then. he had a lot of meetings, people coming to the house and everything. all the cars had signs on them that said the world was going to end. >> atheists attending the conference celebrated in oakland. that conference continues today. a group of people in harrisburg, pennsylvania decided to celebrate the end of days with a pub crawl. the pennsylvania nonbelievers started drinking at 6:00 last night, and ended when the pubs closed. some in the group say they practice christianty, but do not believe in rapture

predictions. coincidentally, a earthquake shook the bay area just after 7:00 last night. it was centered about 2 miles south of herculese. there are no reports of any damage or injuries. a live look over the bay. we're dealing with some low clouds out there. we've got sunshine, and high clouds in store for today. very similar pattern to what we saw yesterday. but we will continue the cooling. this morning, we're a couple of degrees cooler. 40s in santa rosa, as well as napa. 51 in oakland this morning. san francisco checking in at 50 degrees. 51degrees, san jose. the winds generally light out there, will be picking up throughout the day. it's due to this system you see on the satellite and radar. we've got high clouds that will be moving through the area consistently as we move through the day. this because of the weak wave that will stay to the north of us, bringing ice lighted showers to parts of the central

valley and northern california. we will remain dry, but we're going to continue with the strong onshore breeze and the cloud cover. giving you a peek at what's happening. here are the low clouds. by noon time, 1:00, we've got high clouds. and these high clouds continuing to stroll through by about 8:00 this evening. looks like we do get a better clearing and winds are expected to pick up as well. right now between 10 and 12 miles per hour outside our door. we've got winds picking up 16. san rafael, and san francisco. even into the evening hours could grow stronger from 15 to 20 miles per hour. with the cooler air mass in place, once the winds start to blow, it really does feel cool, especially along the bay. temperatures will be similar, and we'll continue to watch temperatures fall for the afternoon in areas around santa rosa, napa. the inland spots will notice a few degrees of cooling for the afternoon. 60 expected san francisco, upper 50s ray long the meet

coast. 6 -- immediate coast. 68 in san jose. extended forecast here. we continue with what we've seen over the last couple of days. and we're not going to budge much. money into tuesday, partly cloudy skies. temperatures remaining in the upper 50s along the coast. mostly cloudy skies on wednesday. models even hinting as the possibility of a few scattered showers on wednesday, if you can believe this. come thursday, mostly sunny skies and our temperatures do rebound. if you're going to be out for your sunday, we'll break it down with the day planner coming up in few minutes. iceland's main airport is closed this morning, as a volcanic eruption continues to pour smoke into the sky. covering most of ice left-hand side ride now, making it -- iceland right now, making it unsafe for planes to fly across the country. experts will take the risk and fly over the volcano today, to learn more about the eruption.

this follows last year's eruption of different volcano in iceland. the volcano made its way into the jet stream and was scaried all the way -- carried all the way into europe, forcing air traffic to be grounded for five days. they were afraid dust and ash would get into the engine, possibly causing accidents. more than 10 million travelers ended up getting stranded. the police captain charged in security is blasting the plan that would replace officers with sheriff deputies. a proposal would replace officers with deputies from the santa clara county sheriff's office. captain jeff smith tells the mercury news, the sheriff's office doesn'thave enough officers. planning to upgrade trains and seats, starting at 3:00,

riders will be asked to give their input on the best mix of seat sizes and coverings. other seat labs will be held in pittsburgh, union city, and dublin in the coming weeks. time now is 7:10, some foreign countries are critical of the operation to kill osama bin laden. there has been a lot of talk about flooding, this morning, residents across the country are dealing with other dangerous elements, and one of them is caught on tape. this is 680, there are reports of loose sheep and goats in that area of mission boulevard near dublin. that can be a very dangerous situation. if you're headed out in the area, be on the lookout.

off, high clouds in the forecast today. a camera was rolling when this funnel cloud touched down in a small town in oklahoma yesterday. the funnel cloud was part of a series of storms. tornadoes that wept swept through parts of oklahoma, missouri, and kansas. at least one death is being reported in kansas, in the small town of reading. severe hail. the majority of the town of 250 people were destroyed. all roads in and out of reading have been closed off. astronauts on the space shuttle endeavour made their second spacewalk. this is the second to last shuttle mission for nasa. the 30 year program will end in july with the final flight of

atlantis. this comes a day after a historic teleconference between the crew and pope benedict xvi. the pontiff blessed the astronauts and made mention of mark kelly's wife, gabrielle giffords. >> i hope her health continues to improve. >> thank you for the kind words your holiness, and thank you for mentioning my wife gabby. >> the conversation was the first ever between the pope and astronauts in united states. you may remember, christina green was the youngest victim killed in the massacre. >> the man accused of the deadly shooting will be in court this week to determine whether he is competent to stand trial. the hearing is scheduled for this wednesday. if loughner is found incompetent, his trial could be delayed for months, or even

years. he would remain in custody until a court determines he is able to understand the charges against him. mental health professions have already found him incompetent to stand trial. he is accused of shooting 19 people. killing 6. another high profile republican is deciding against a run for the white house. indiana governor, mitch daniels sent an email to supporters yesterday, saying he will not run for the presidential nomination next year. he says he does not want to put his family through the grueling challenges of a campaign. he follows mark huckaby in deciding against a presidential run for 2012. mitt romney hasn't officially announced his candidacy yet, but that hasn't stopped him from hitting the trial.

he mixed some nice words about president obama with a tough message about his handling of the economy. >> i think he's a nice person. i just don't think he understands how the economy works. i think you have to have had a job to understand how the economy works. >> sherman cain announced his run for the gop nomination in atlanta. he wants to replace the federal income tax with a national sales tax. he has never held an elected office. tomorrow the gop field will get one more candidate. tim pawlenty is expected to announce his run for the white house in iowa. today barack obama will start a six day tour of europe. in britain he will meet with david cameron and give a speech to parliament. he will held meetings with the

russian and french presidents. he is scheduled to end his trip in poland. in an interview with bbc news, the president said he would order another covert military raid, similar to the one that killed osama bin laden, if it meant stopping terrorist attacks. the pakistani government is upset with the united states over the bin laden raid, because it was done without its knowledge. mr.obama said in the interview, while the u.s. respects pakistan's sovereignty, the united states needs to be secure. while the pakistani government remains upset with the united states over the bin laden raid, it is now denying a report that u.s. troops were embedded with its forces. the pakistani newspaper published a report this weekend saying u.s. troops provided pakistani assistance in 2009. the pakistani army is now denying that report. anti-american sentiment remains high in pakistan. time now, 7:18. new this morning from iraq, 13

people are dead, after 10 bombs went off in baghdad. this is video that shows kids and others sounding the charred metal after one of the bombs went off. at least seven of the dead are police officers. it's believed one have been meant for an american convoy. left in the dark, the airport that suffered a major power outage, stranding dozens of passengers overnight. >> a devastating situation following a mudslide. outside our door this morning, partly sunny to mostly sunny skies. what you can expect for your sunday coming up.

rescue crews are looking for at least two dozen children after a landslide. there have been conflicted reporting about the number of

children in the area at the time of that landslide. the food and drug administration is warning parents against feeding premature infants simply thick. it's been led to life- threatening conditions in some babies, and it should notten given to babies born within 37 weeks of presidency. the ibm team is working with doctors to fill the computer with medical information. the goal that dr. watson will be able to help human doctors diagnose disease and injuries. hundreds of people woke up in a minnesota airport today after a nearly 10 hour power outages. some were put up in hotels, but

today. 52 expected inland. pacifica, half moon bay, a cool day once again. as we go inland, we warm up. 63 expected hayward today. 70 in napa. 7 it degrees in santa rosa, with partly cloudy skies. a weak system riding over the north of us, if you're headed out of town, we may experience a few scattered showers here. we're going to be dry, but temperatures will remain who average, sunday, monday, tuesday and into wednesday. we've even clouded up a little bit there. wednesday, the possibility of a few scattered showers in the forecast. a slight chance at this point. thursday, mostly sunny skies. temperatures finally rebounding, back into the mid- 60s for the coastline. back to you. a stretch of coastal wilderness will be preserved as open space, the rugged coast is located near moss beach. congress recently approved the

the explosion rocked the neighborhood, and critically injured three people. this morning, investigators are still trying to figure out what caused it. good morning, and welcome back to mornings on 2. i'm claudine wong. >> an explosion at a livermore apartment complex happened around 5:00 yesterday afternoon on silver oaks way, near school street. live this morning at the site of the blast. >> no one spent the night here at this five unit apartment complex, and you can see why. the windows are blown out here in this unit. if you look on the street there, you can see there's debris everywhere, and this is all because of the force of the explosion that happened here. police have been camped out at this apartment complex all morning, because it is considered a crime scene. they're waiting for investigators to arrive to help piece together why there was an explosion here yesterday evening. residents describe what it felt my computer. and i felt the first wave of

the shock of the explosion go through the window, rattled everything. then my screaming. >> when police arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from the apartment complex and two men and one woman suffering from severe burns. they were airlifted to the hospital. neighbors have their suspiciouses as to what happened. >> the neighbor had come over to us and said it was a propane tank of some sort that exploded, and that he used his assumption they were manufacturing some form of drug. police have not confirmed whether drugs were involved, but they are calling this explosion suspicious. they are sending out investigators later this morning to comb through this scene, to try to figure out, again, what happened here. now the four other families if a live in this apartment complex had to be relocated

because of all the damage, and they're unsure if the building is even structurally safe. we're hoping to get some more information once the investigators arrive here on scene. reporting live from livermore. police in mill valley are reviewing surveillance video to find an armed robber who stole more than $10,000 from a gold store. police say a mask man storessed the store's employees to open the safe. there were two customers inside at the time, but no one was hurt. >> the robber put a gun, you know, to their head, and said give me all your money, give me whatever you have, threw a black bag on the the counter. >> police searched for the robber for two hours, but couldn't find him. police say they're look forgot

a light -- looking for a light skinned black man. in oakland, city council members say the cash strapped city needs to act more like a business to help close its budget short fall. they held a town hall meeting. he said the city has already cut $90 million, and 600 jobs in the last three years. now she says oakland needs to slim down even more. >> needs to get to the right side, and some dear programs are going to go. we have to get to the right size, then as the economy comes back, we can start adding back. >> the they're debating the three proposed budget plans. san francisco mayor, ed lee continues to get pressure to run in the mayoral election.

former mayor, willie brown and some chinatown leaders also want lee to run. lee said at the beginning of his term, he would not run in november's election. he's staying with that message. on thursday, he once again denied interest for running. lee said quote, i don't need it. san francisco police continue to study surveillance video, in hopes of finding a man who was stabbed on a muni bus. police say a fight broke out on the 14 mission bus. the victim was stabbed with a screwdriver. investigators are trying to figure out what killed a 25- year-old man mysteriously, hours after he was taken to an oakland jail. he was booked thew the jail sh -- into the jail around 3:00 friday night. around 9:00 a.m., he started having shortness of breath. by 10:10, he was pronounced

dead. the coroner's office is expected to conduct an autopsy today or tuesday. barry bonds childhood friend and former trainer is busy with a new job. coaching little league baseball. greg anderson is one of three coaches for the capitol electrics. he had to miss four games earlier this season, after being sent to prison for failing to testify in the bonds trial. giants fans are looking to pull out the broom sticks today. the giants took the second game of a three game set yesterday behind tim lincecum's eighth career complete game. lincecum allowed only 3 hits, and struck out 6 on his way to his 5th shut out of his career. the home of the giants will soon have a new attraction. the team is going to commemorate their journey to

the world series with a special walkway around at&t park. it's called the world champions walk. it will have granite markers highlighting moments of the team's 52 year journey to bring a world championship to san francisco. fans will also be able to buy brick favors to mark their own memories of the team's history. a portion will go to the giants community fund. sharks fans will gather in downtown san jose, hoping the team can pull even. the puck drops at noon, with the vancouver canucks leading the series, 2-1. the sharks bounced back to win game three at the tank friday night. the series moves back to vancouver on tuesday for game 5. if necessary, the two teams come back to san jose for game 6 on thursday. game 7 would be next saturday in vancouver. ♪ [ music ] good morning to you, a live look from bay point here, we've got some high clouds out there. we've got low clouds closer to the coast. even a little fog to deal with

this morning. our pattern remains as we remain through you're sunday. but we're -- throughout your sunday. but we're going to be cooler. our winds generally light out there. came conditions, just a light breeze in san jose. cooler by a couple of degrees. even cooler in napa. 58degrees right now in livermore. 51 in san jose. 51degrees in concord. slipping into the 40s this morning, napa, as well as santa rosa. the cooler air continuing to filter in with the system over northern california. in fact, northern california, parts of the central valley could see a few sprinkles. we're going to remain dry. the cooler air, the strong sea breeze, and temperatures will remain below average as we roll through today, and even the extended forecast.

for today, we're looking at from 3 to 6 degrees cooler. especially our inland spots. along the coast, similar to what we've seen recently. our winds are expected to pick up. could be a little gusty at times through the afternoon. your cloud and rain forecast here along the bay area, by about noon time. you may look up in the afternoon and notice the high clouds overhead. by 6:00, looks like we get some pretty good clearing. for the most part, we're going to continue with mid-and high level clouds for today. generally light this morning, by the afternoon, 17 miles per hour reported in san rafael. 16, san francisco. 8:00, still blowing pretty good. areas over the north bay could see winds 15 to 20 miles per hour at times. your afternoon highs for today. 70degrees expected in napa. still a nice day. 65 in oakland. just a little cooler than what we saw yesterday, and perhaps a

little breezy in your neighborhood. the afternoon, mountain view, 69 loss catos. we remain below average for this time of year. all the way through tuesday and into wednesday, where we actually are looking at the possibility of a few scattered showers. come wednesday, mostly cloudy skies. we rebound thursday. thursday looks to be the warmest day of the extended forecast. 65 for the bay area, coastline. if you're out to watch the giants and the a's play today, we'll have that forecast coming up at 7:55. the mississippi river is slowly receding, the water continues to back up into tributaries. neighborhoods in mississippi that have been flooded for weeks remain swamped with water. most people there say it is a waiting game to see where the flood waters go next. >> it's probably the most devastating thing.

good morning to you, a live look at san rafael. sitting at 49 degrees. time is running out to get a pension reform plan on the bat ole. it must get 6 of 11 votes by the end of july. current candidate for mayor, joining us live. mayor lee has put out a plan. union's put out a plan. i know you're getting a pension from the city yourself. what do you think? which plan do you like? >> i think we're going to see on tuesday, a consensus plan. there's been hellman groups, warren hellman, san francisco labor, city leaders, the mayor. i believe we're going to see a comprehensive package introduced on tuesday.

i think because it will include pension reform, and healthcare reform, that it's going to actually exceed what prop b would have been, which would have been savings about $120 million a year. >> it looks like there's an agreement on a few things. that employees need to contribute. it appears the big difference is how much should they cap it. how should this be done? >> let's start with the fact over the past two years, city employees have given back $250 million in wage concessions. i think city workers want to be responsible and want to be part of a solution. if you look at healthcare around the country, wellness initiatives are the most important things going. 30% of the young people covered under our city health plan are also overweight. these are not statistics that

are like that for the rest of the country. but by focusing on it, can he with bring down health coverage. jeff pushed a dialogue and created a morale imperative that we didn't want to face something that had not been considered. mayor lee has brought people together, and i think we'll have a good plan this week for the voters. >> politically, how big of a deal is this? it's a big field. you've got a lot of other people pushing in on this. is it important you guys say, let's band together on this issue? we can argue about the other ones? or is this something where people take a stance and try to get some leverage with the voters. >> we don't want to go off the rails like you see in wisconsin or other places. i think we'll come together and have something good. the next accept for me as mayor

is to really focus on wellness initiatives. we've got to keep it continued. we need a healthier workforce. not smoking. not being overweight. being more active. these are things our society needs to do, and it's a way to bring down healthcare costs for the city. >> i want to say, if there's no consensus plan. it can be very confusing for voters if you have more than one plan, will that make potentially any plan fail? >> i think there probably will be more than one plan. i do think that the public supports ed lee. i think the people really support the job that ed lee has done this year. and if you see labor and business, and community coming together for the plan that the mayor and the board approves, i think we'll be fine. >> thanks for joining us this

morning on mornings on 2. >> great, my orange tie for the giants go sweep. the voters in minnesota next year will decide whether to ban gay marriage after a protest from both sides, and nearly six hours of debate. a proposed amendment that would define marriage as between a man a woman was defined last night. it was the last step needed to put it on a ballot in 2012. >> not the kind of thing, our state legislature should be wasting their time on when people are out of jobs. >> marriage is between a man and woman, for the benefit and good of society at large. >> supporters say it is necessary to prevent judges and future lawmakers from making gay marriage legal in minnesota. today is harvey milk day across california. we're just hours away from the

celebration in the castro district. they're going to be celebrating the grand opening of a call center for the trevor project, which offers suicide prevention for lgbtu's. milk became the first openly gay politician in california. he was assassinated in 1978 by then supervisor, dan white. girl on girl violence took center stage in pleasant hill. 87% of the students say the majority of the bullying occurring not online, but in classrooms, hallways and somewhere on campus. >> one girl threatened to slap the white out of me. yeah, it's really bad some times. >> i think what's happening now is, it's not just bullying for

caused glass to shatter, and part of a window to blow off. authorities found three suffers from severe burns. >> people laying on the ground screaming. the gentleman who lived in the apartment, his hand was just completely blown off. the woman that lived in the apartment with him, she was just covered in blood. it was just a horrific scene. >> reporter: the victims were airlifted to the hospital, the four others who lived in the nearby units had to be relocated. authorities have not confirmed that yet, back here on the scene again, we are waiting for investigators to arrive to collect evidence to really piece together what happened here. as far as the victims go, we're told they're in critical condition at valley medical center in san jose, and at uc davis medical center.

iceland's main airport is closed this morning, as a volcano continues to send ash into the sky. making it unsafe to fly across the country. experts from the university of iceland will take the risk and fly over the volcano today to learn more about the eruption. this is the first time it's been active since 2004. this follows last year's eruption of a different volcano in iceland.

the hopes of finding people who stabbed a man on a muni bus. police say a fight broke out on friday night between two groups of people. an autopsy will be performed on a man who died within hours after being taken to the oakland jail. michael huerta was booked into the jail around 3:00 a.m. friday. around 9:30 a.m., a nurse and doctor were called to check on him, after he started having shortness of breath. a sheriff's department says he stopped breathing. he was pronounced dead just after 10:00 a.m. san francisco police are searching for the owner of a horse when that was put down after it crashed through a store window. it smashed through a western store called hammer and lewis fashions. the horse became stuck in the window, and officers had to
