good morning. thank you for joining us on this tuesday may 24th. i'm pam cook. and i'm dave clark. a brand new day. let's check your weather and traffic. here's steve. >> pam and dave, thank you very much. we do have patchy dog out there. but it will be sunny to mostly sunny today. maybe a few high clouds late. but overall temperatures about where they were yesterday which is still below average for this time of year. so low to mid-60s coast and bay upper 60s and low 70s inland. breezy but not as bad as yesterday. update on your traffic with sal. steve, right now traffic good on interstate 880. light and wind not a problem. also this morning's commute going to be okay in san francisco along northbound 101. back to the desk. time now 6:01. police in men lo park say two men kicked in the door of a home over the weekend and they attacked an 88-year-old man inside. ktvu's kraig debro joins us live now to tell us more about this violent home invasion, kraig. and two other incidents they

may or may not be related. >> reporter: that's right. police haven't connected those absolutely. but they are similar happened same time of day, same method used in each. behind me the 1000 block of wind amere. first incident happened around 5:15 in the morning. i spoke to police this morning. they said that the thieves tried to enter the home or actually did enter the home through a garage door. not the garage door but a side door that let's people into the garage. and then they got into the home through a door leading from the garage to the kitchen. when they got inside the home the 88-year-old man confronted the man. the men told the victim not to move because he had a gun. the victim was hit on the head with an unknown object. police say the thieves then ransacked the home. that was the first incident of three that day. >> this is a new occurrence for us. the time of day early in the morning usually pretty quiet for us. officers on scene very quickly

the report of the door kicking in about 5:40 in the morning while officers were on the scene for that morning when officers got the report of the second door kicking. >> reporter: police say the man in wind amere regained consciousness two hours later but he's going to be okay. two other similar incidents rather attempted robberies took place on central avenue and on laurel avenue. get this the first at 5:40, the second at 5:50. the thieves did not get into either home in that case. but one of the cases the homeowner or somebody inside the home did see a man who looked like he might have been one of the men trying to get into the home. he called the police. he gave a vague description of the man. now right now we're working on as i told you at 5:30 we're working on seeing if these incidence are connected to what happened in san mateo earlier this month. very similar. we're going to check with police to see if they're connected. reporting live in men lo park, kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. a 4-month-old baby is back home with her parents this morning after a bizarre kidnapping attempt involving the little girl's grandmother.

they reunited with their 4- month-old baby yesterday after she vanished from her bassinet over the weekend. investigators say 58-year-old erica snuck into her son's house to take the baby and then headed home to southern california. the grandmother then reportedly introduced the baby to friends as her own daughter. that's when one friend became suspicious and called police. >> i want to say i've forgiverren her. right now i'm just -- i have no hatred. i have no anything in my heart. i'm just so happy to have my baby back. >> erica, the grandmother, is now in jail and faces kidnapping charges. time now 6:04. happening right now. opening statements are beginning in florida in the case of a mother, casey anthony, accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter. we're looking live. there she is in florida inside this orlando courtroom. casey anthony right there is on

trial. now her daughter, caylee, was last seen in june 2008. her remains were found six months later. casey anthony has already entered a not guilty plea. she claims a babysitter kidnapped her daughter. miss anthony could get the death penalty if she's convicted. more violent weather could hit joplin, missouri, today where rescuers are racing to find survivors of a tornado. early this morning president obama announced that he will travel to joplin on sunday to meet with the people effected. we just had a live report out of joplin, missouri, where they say at least 117 people are now confirmed dead and bad weather continues to be a challenge. two people were actually hit by lightning yesterday while they were searching through the debris. so far 17 people though have been pulled alive from the rubble. missouri's governor says he is confident that there are even more survivors. >> we believe there are other live folks out there. we have firefighters,

paramedics, we have first responders throughout the region helping us. >> now today the national weather service reports a 45% chance of another tornado outbreak in the area that includes dallas, oklahoma city and joplin. time now 6:05. president obama is in london this morning for a three day state visit. the president and first lady michelle obama were greeted by queen elizabeth, the very elaborate ceremony at buckingham palace. coming up for you at 6:15, we'll bring you a live report from our washington d.c. newsroom on who else the obamas met this morning. also this morning israeli prime minister will tell the united states congress israel will never return to its old narrow borders. the prime minister's address to congress comes just days after president obama's speech where he said that peace talks between israel and the palestinians should start with pre-1967 borders and also include land swaps.

at a meeting of thousands of american jewish supporters yesterday he reaffirmed his position that the old borders are indefensible. overnight nato war planes launched more than 20 air strikes against targets in tripoli, libya. you can look off in the distance there. keep watching that smoke rising and watch the light. that's right near libyan leader moammar gadafi's compound. the nato attack was one of the heaviest against tripoli since the nato mission started just over two months ago. we now know the name of a man gunned down in antioch over the weekend. police say 19-year-old harold of antioch was shot and killed on sunday. it happened on d street shortly before 8:00 in the evening. he later died at a local hospital. and it's still unclear what led up to that shooting. so far no arrests have been made. time now 6:07. sonoma county supervisors are expected to announce major job cuts in today's board meeting. the plan calls for eliminating

more than 200 jobs to help offset a huge budget deficit. however, it could have been a lot worse. previous estimates called for as many as 500 job cuts. early retirements and increased city fees helped to lower the number of projected job losses. once again water bills are going up in marin county. last night the marin municipal water district approved a fifth consecutive year of rate hikes. the average water bill will rise nearly $4 starting in august. the agency says this latest increase is tied to several factors including lower water use by its thousands of customers. bart plans to ask residents in three bay area counties for a billion dollars. transit agency says the money would pay to replace 1,000 old train cars. bart will ask that a parcel tax measure be put on the november ballot next year in alameda, san francisco and contra costa county. all right. time now 6:08. sal, have you fixed things around the toll plaza?

have you fixed things anywhere? >> where's sal? >> there you are. i was going to answer things aren't doing too poorly now for the morning commute. as a matter of fact we have a nice looking drive at the bay bridge. we always keep an eye on that. this is about the time it starts to change. as we get later in the year we have more sunlight. it seems maybe a little later than it really is. it's only 6:08 now. northbound 101 approaching the 80 split looks good coming up to the downtown area. if you're driving in the south bay traffic looks good. and on the peninsula highway 101 and 280 still haven't quite woken up yet. still a nice drive. 6:09. let's go to steve. all right, sal, real quick before we get going nice tweet said these tornadoes in the midwest is this normal? may is prime time. may and june is prime time for east of the rockies. the key is we're getting systems in for us these are very cold systems for may. move across the rockies they have a lot of cold air. then coming up from texas you get what's called that low level jet stream with really

hot warm air. so the ingredients recipe for severe weather is about as good as it gets. just so you know. if we didn't have these lows coming in, they wouldn't make it across parts of the rockies and into the plains. but they are. as they are coming in they're keeping us on the cool side and giving us a lot of clouds, cool wind. tomorrow 68, mostly sunny later on clouds in advance of the system which will be here tomorrow. 57 to 74. sun, clouds, breezy. wind not as strong as yesterday but still there. about every day either north of the sacramento valley or up towards the sierra, quincy, northeast california you're getting these thunderstorms erupting. people writing me saying i'm seeing lightning and stuff. this is extremely active pattern. these are northern storms. not tropical in any nature which is what we normally get towards june if any. in fact 38 at the napa airport. 40s for many. upper 40s or low 50s. if it wasn't for the breeze we'd be even cooler than that.

fremont our target forecast. go 49, 64 then a high today of 68. it will be sunny. just not very warm. they usually get a good breeze in fremont in this kind of a pattern. west at sfo. southwest at fairfield. south-southeast san jose. so everything showing signs of being kind of a sea breeze. today's all right. we do get sunshine today. but there's the next system coming in. look at that time it's starting to get enhancement on the backside. cold upper level support. also a really good jet stream for this time of year. this is computer model forecast. patchy fog just today on the san mateo coast. i think it's a little ahead of itself to bring in some of these clouds maybe later on today. what i want to show you is tonight here comes the system right there. here comes the rain for tomorrow morning. in the north bay tomorrow morning and i think for everyone else we'll be talking about rain by this time tomorrow. sunny, breezy, today patchy fog. maybe high clouds lay # late but that would be mainly north of sonoma county. highs today 60s or 70s. just not much of a spread between the coast and the bay. usually we get about a 30- degree spread by this time of

year that's not happening. we're only seeing a ten degree spread between the coast and many inland locations. thursday really cool. friday looks okay. saturday and sunday looks like another system for another round of cool weather. new developments this morning about the former imf chief accused of sexually assaulting a hotel maid in new york. the evidence that may have surfaced. big plans for the biggest energy company in the bay area. the reason community leaders do not think it's a good idea for the neighborhood.

well, good morning to you. welcome back. time now 6:14. at this hour president obama and the first lady are wrapping up lunch with the queen. queen elizabeth at buckingham palace. ktvu's allison burns live in our washington d.c. newsroom to tell us what else is on the president's agenda during his three days in london. allison. >> reporter: dave, it was a lavish welcome at buckingham palace just a few hours ago. ♪ [ music ] >> reporter: the arrival ceremony included the star spangled banner and 41 gun salute. right before the ceremony president obama and first lady had a private casual meeting with the royal newlyweds william and kate. there's also a lot of serious business for president obama in london. he'll talk with prime minister david cameron about afghanistan and pakistan and the debt

crisis. and reportedly announce a debt forum to prevent long-term threats to national security. they'll return to buckingham palace tonight for a state dinner. they'll be staying there. there's a genuine warmth between the obamas and the royal family. reporting live from washington d.c., alson burns, ktvu channel 2 news. new reports say dna taken from former imf leader dominique strauss-kahn matches what was found on the uniform of a hotel maid who claims he sexually assaulted her. that's according to to two people familiar with the investigation who spoke to the associated press. some employees of the hotel tell investigators strauss-kahn made passes at them and invited one woman to his room when she was offduty. strauss-kahn is currently under house arrest. he denies the maid's allegations. tomorrow a judge will decide if the alleged gunman in the tucson, arizona, shootings is competent to stand trial. jared loughner is charged with the january 8 shooting rampage

that killed six people and wounded 13 others including congresswoman gabrielle giffords. now two mental health experts have evaluated loughner. prosecutors and defense attorneys say they do not plan to dispute the findings. time now 6:16. abortion rates fell among most groups of u.s. women between 2000 and 2008. that's according to a brand new study published today in the journal obstetrics and gynecology. however the researchers say the abortion rate among women considered low income actually went up during that same period. researchers aren't sure why, but the recession may have been a factor. smokers headed to new york city's central park should leave your cigarettes home. a tough new outdoor smoking ban is now in effect. smokers can no longer legally light up at new york city's public parks and beaches. this ban is design today help curb exposure to secondhand smoke as well as cut down on litter from cigarette butts.

chevron is trying again to get permission to makeover its richmond refinery. the san ramon based company wants to revamp the facility so it can process more types of crude oil. two courts ruled a previous environmental review is inadequate. a community group says it wants more information about possible heavy metals that could be sent into the air. the chp arrested seven protesters who unfurled a banner from the lower part of the richmond san rafael bridge. they now face charges of trespassing and conspiracy to commit a crime. the demonstrators are demanding chevron pay an $8.6 billion fine for polluting the rain forests in ecuador. chevron is appealing that order saying the judgment was based on fraudulent evidence. time now 61:00. a huge stretch of coastal wilderness along the san mateo county coast will be permanently preserved as open space. yesterday congress approved funding to complete the transfer of thousands of acres of undeveloped land to the national park service. it's a rugged area north of

half-moon bay. the purchase is excellent news for hikers, mountain bikers and others who just love the outdoors. well, the san jose sharks are facing elimination tonight in game five of the western conference finals. the sharks are down three games to one in their series against the vancouver canucks. sharks' captain joe thornton will play tonight despite his injury in game four. fred is in vancouver with the team. been watching them practice. you can catch his reports later today here on ktvu channel 2. keep your fingers crossed for the sharks. >> yep. time now 6:19. sal's watching your commute and he's smiling too. >> well, you know how one of the congressmen at a common at a timers called out patrick. i thought it was funny. sharks fans know what i'm talking about. go out and take a look at the commute now. golden gate bridge looks okay.

breezy but still below normal temperatures. higher clouds will move into the north bay in advance of that system which is getting right there valely close. 48 at the napa airport. 38. 48 livermore. 48 mountain view. 47 san jose. mid-40s santa rosa, san rafael. that's chilly. look at that system. that's the one going to give us rain for the northbound. no doubt about it. maybe points south. tomorrow sunny, breezy, patchy fog. few clouds roll in late but mainly for the north bay. overall not as windy but still 60s and low 70s for many that should be in the low 80s. staying below average on these temps. the five day doesn't have much of a warm up anywhere. clear and windy on thursday. a little warm up friday but then another system digs in for another round of cool weather by sunday. pam and dave. all right. thank you, steve. cisco system asks denying charges that it helped the chinese government track down members of the spiritual movement. members of the group are now suing cisco.

they say the san jose company designed the golden shield firewall and provided technical assistance to the beijing government so it could track dissidents and censor the internet. banned by the chinese government in 1999. today yahoo's popular e- mail will get a facelift. the new look will make it possible to update facebook and twitter accounts while in yahoo's e-mail boxes. the sunny vale company says it will also double the speed and allow for bigger attachments. yahoo's been losing accounts to google's g mail. time now 6:22. some say they're ugly, others say you need them to get faster phone and internet service. it's the continuing debate over these boxes once again at the san francisco board of supervisors. and four years of high school comes to an end for some south bay high school students. the sobering lesson that came with their diplomas. good morning. westbound 24 off to a nice start getting up to the tunnel. there are no major problems there. we'll tell you more about the

all right. time now 6:25. more than a dozen people are in the hospital this morning after a tour bus crash on interstate 80. investigators say the bus -- you see it right there, went off the highway yesterday afternoon careened across the grass and a dirt berm just south of cherry glen road between fairfield and vacaville. it came to a stop on a frontage road. the highway patrol says 13 people were taken to the north bay hospital in fairfield. they had minor to moderate injuries. 50 people were on the bus. the driver told investigators the brakes failed. high school seniors are being reminded about the dangers of drinking and driving. [ cheering and applause ] >> san jose santa teresa high school held its commencement ceremony last night. in addition to diplomas seniors also received a picture of 16- year-old jordan michelle west. santa teresa student and cheerleader died in a drunk

driving accident last november on highway 101. graduates we talked to say drinking and driving is still going on despite that accident. >> i can only tell you that they're making the wrong decision. >> you ever try to say anything to those people? >> oh, yeah. >> statistics show a third of all alcohol-related teenage deaths occur during graduation season, the three months of april, may and june. time now 6:27. at&t's plan to install 700 utility boxes around san francisco going to be debated again today before the board of supervisors. the board will decide whether environmental review is needed for these boxes. the planning department approved the boxes in february saying they don't create enough of an impact to require a review. but critics appealing this they say the boxes are an eyesore. at&t says the boxes will improve internet and phone service. time now 6:27. attacked and knocked unconscious. the elderly man targeted in his

back giving us a better look. we haven't heard of any injuries, but this is a house fire. we're not seeing flames. so maybe they've knocked it down and controlled the situation. we see the firefighters gathered around. and we're not sure at this point, but we'll be on the ground soon to get you more details. just wanted to show you what's happening in this breaking news. a fire that had broken out in san leandro, firefighters are all over it. more details coming up later. well, the bart board is considering buying more tasers for its police force. ktvu's allie rasmus explains the move has ties to the fatal shooting of oscar grant at the bart station on new year's day 2009. allie. >> reporter: well, pam, that shooting you mentioned happened here at the fruit vale bart station up on the platform actually back in 2009 bart passenger oscar grant fatally shot by bart police officer mesherle. now in the trial that followed that shooting mesherle's defense was that he thought he was using his taser, not his gun. ever since then bart's outside

consultants have recommended that bart's police officers use tasers more consistently to avoid confusion with potentially fatal consequences. later today bart's board of directors will decide whether to spend $140,000 to buy more tasers for bart police. about 130 more tasers. some passengers we talk today this morning say more tasers would be a good thing. others say the additional tasers have to come with more training for the officers. >> because that is important. if you're going to be handling anything like that, it is important to have more training. otherwise what's the point of carrying them? >> i agree with that. safer for the passengers. >> safer for them to use tasers. >> yes. i don't feel comfortable with gun at all to be honest. >> reporter: right now bart's police force only has 60 tasers. and officer must check them out when they're on duty. so the $140,000 would be used to buy 130 additional tasers so that each officer would have his or her own.

reporting live in oakland, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:32. a search is on this morning for two men believed to be targeting men lo park homes for robberies. ktvu's kraig debro live with what the police are saying about three different incidents that happened over the weekend. kraig. >> reporter: dave, so like you said there were three. two others in men lo park. police have not connected those two with each other and then those two with this one. but in this one a man actually got hurt. again happened on the 1000 block of wind appear sunday morning around 5:15. according to police two men got into a home by going through a door, a side door to a garage and then kicking in a kitchen door once they got inside the kitchen door they were confronted by the man who lives in the house 88-year-old man. they told him not to move because they had a gun. don't know what was said after that or transpired after that but police say one of the men then hit this man on the head with an object. he fell to the ground and after

that the man went through the house looking for anything they could find. >> they went through property in the house. we're still looking into exactly what they took. we don't know exactly what was taken. and then fled the house. >> reporter: there were two other incidents that took place. there were similar incidents because in both of these incidents one on laurel, they both took place around the same time 5:40 one was reported. 5:50 the other one was reported. very similar because the men tried knocking on a door or banging on a door to get into the house. and then neither time could the men get in the house, but one of these incidences the one on laurel, not the one on central, somebody actually saw one of the men sort of a vague description of the man probably not enough to convict anybody but did see somebody. nobody was hurt in either of those incidences and now and the one here on wind amere the man's going to recovery older man got hit in the head i asked police if the injuries are

going to be long-term or life threatening they said no. but, again we're talking to police about another similar incident that happened earlier this month. this one in san mateo. very similar. man ran around the back of the home, got in the house and hit the 90-year-old woman in the head with something and robbed her house as well. live in men lo park, kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. today in joplin, missouri, they are now searching for survivors of the tornado that has killed at least 117 people. coming up at 5:45 we're going to take you there live to see what is happening now in that disaster zone this morning. the ash from an erupting volcano in iceland has forced the cancellation of 250 flights now in northern ireland, scotland and parts of scandinavia today. the cloud of volcanic ash is not expected to move over continental europe. one american traveler at the airport in amsterdam said she's taking it all in stride. >> if i absolutely had to stay, i wouldn't be upset about it.

we're on vacation. it's a beautiful country. we want to see the place. if we have to stay an extra week, i'm okay with that. >> now the eruption of another volcano in iceland in april of last year led to a shut down of air space for more than a week across europe. time now 6:35. deliberations resume in the chauncey bailey murder trial. closing arguments ended yesterday. yusef bey iv and mackey accused of killing the newspaper reporter in august of 2007 as he walked to work in downtown oakland. brusard testified he shot the journalist on the orders of bey. the defense says brusard is not credible. it is arraignmented day for almurisi. he's the man accused of trying to storm the cockpit of a jet bound for san francisco earlier this month. a judge ordered almurisi to stay in jail while he undergoes psychiatric evaluation. he calls the yemen immigrant a

threat to society who's at risk to jump bail. family members say almurisi is suffering from mental problems and they say he is not a terrorist. this morning los angeles police are scrambling to limit the potential damage from a leak in the bryan stow beating case. late yesterday some news websites in the los angeles area published a mug shot of suspect ramirez. now a police sketch that resembles ramirez was sent out by police, but the photo from his parole file was not supposed to be released to the public. the media outlets immediately removed the leaked mug shot after getting angry calls from the l.a.p.d. now the investigation into the attack outside dodgers stadium is ongoing. and detectives worry that the leak could compromise their entire case especially if witnesses see the picture before ramirez appears in a police line up. the suspect's mother is also angry, but for a much different reason. she says police have the wrong

vacaville. so west wind making it to vacaville that tells you t not going to be that hot today. it will still be sunny to mostly sunny. leading edge of the system will start to spread higher clouds in to the north bay later on. it's also starting to increase fog on the mendocino coast. i've seen that. when you see development back here, that's really impressive for the end of may because that tells us there's a lot of scheduled air support and a really good jet stream. really good for this time of year. that's leading us to believe that this system will make it. patchy fog today. sunny but still cool maybe slight warm up. not a lot. we still have the westerly wind and then focus our attention tonight as that system increasing, clouds and cloudy, cooler, rain again moves in not that much south but i think in the north bay a quarter to a half inch of rain is certainly possible. sunny, breezy today. some higher clouds late but not before we end up with 60s and low 70s. when you're going from low 40s to low 70s, these are still way below average for the inland temperatures. about four to six near the coast and about 10 to 15

inland. cloudy, rain on wednesday. clearing cool on thursday. a break friday and another system moves in here sunday, monday looks like. well, a bay area city needs a mayor. the interesting application process that starts today. also getting their fair share. how lawmakers want to make sure there's enough money for people devastated by all of the natural disasters. good morning. northbound 101 traffic moving along nicely as you approach the 880 interchange. but it is getting slow in some areas. we'll let you know where.

good morning to you. welcome back. quick look at some of the top stories we're following for you right now at 6:44. today sonoma county supervisors are expected to announce 200 job cuts because of a huge budget deficit. however, it could have been worse. previous estimates called for 500 job cuts. the muni's operation wants the federal government to withhold billions in federal funding. if muni recently passed proposition g in contract negotiations. prop g says arbitrators have to consider how proposed contracts would effect fares and service. however the union claims that's illegal. president obama and first lady michelle obama received a royal welcome this morning from queen elizabeth at buckingham palace in london. you see them all there. the obamas also met briefly this morning with the new duke

and duchess of cambridge. prince william and kate they just came back from their honeymoon. today in joplin, missouri, they are searching for survivors of one of the worst tornadoes in u.s. history. jim spellman is in joplin this morning where the death toll continues to rise. and, jim, what can you tell us about more bad weather heading your way? >> reporter: yeah, later this afternoon we expect more heavy thunderstorms here and even the possibility of tornadoes in the region. something that they certainly don't need here in joplin. besides being just generally nasty and nerve rattling to people who have just gone through a tornado to have the sector of others coming has been hindering the work of the search and rescue team. we're near the center where search and rescue teams can show up and get something to eat and supplies. they hope to take advantage of the relative break in the weather. the weather was horrible all day yesterday. in fact two rescuers were

struck by lightning yesterday is how bad it was. today they're hoping to get advancement on it. now the death toll we just got word has risen to 117. that makes it the deadliest tornado since modern recordkeeping of these sorts of things in the 50s. but the good news they say is that 17 people were rescued. that's the number they want to see go up today. the rescues and keep that death toll from rising. pam. >> all right. jim spellman in joplin, missouri, thank you for that update. time now 6:47. lawmakers on capitol hill want to make sure there's enough disaster money available to help people effected by all of the bad weather. federal money's in demand after all the deadly tornadoes in the south, the flooding along the mississippi river and now the big disaster in joplin, missouri. lawmakers have alabama and missouri want to add more money to the homeland security spending bill for the new fiscal year that would pay for domestic disasters. the house appropriations committee will deal with that spending bill today.

nonprofit organizations in alameda county will use social media this morning as part of a disaster drill. at 8:00 this morning they will post a status update on their social media pages. it says please reply to this message. we are testing our ability to reach out before, during and after disasters. the group putting on the drill says today's exercise will help nonprofits better serve the public in the event of an actual emergency. time now 6:48. the city of san carlos still searching for a new mayor this morning after the unexpected death two weeks ago. the vice mayor withdrew his name from consideration after his recent arrests for drunk driving. now the city council's decided to accept applications for a fifth council member who could potentially be nominated for the mayor's job. the window for those applications opens this morning. it will close on june 3rd. all right. 6:48 is the time right now. and, sal, you have an update on

that crash in the peninsula? that's right. news chopper 2 overhead, pam and dave. southbound 280 at 380 looks like this crash is blocking the transition lane. looks like they're trying to let some cars through. now this is on 280 right at the 380 transition and still have two lanes blocked with paramedics and fire on the scene. reported to be nonlife threatening injuries. in other words these people are not going to be in danger of, well, having life threatening injuries i guess, but traffic is slow already trying to get to 380. if you're taking 280 out of the city to get to the airport want to take 380 i would rethink that right now and start taking 101 if you can because you can see as news chopper 2 tilts up for us the back up on 280 is now stretching into daly city. so this is going to be an unexpected bad commute coming down to san bruno out of south city. let's move along and take a look at the westbound bay

bridge. that is backed up from the macarthur maze and the metering lights are on. it's about a 15 minute wait. and if you're driving on the east bay commute 880 southbound it looks okay heading down to fremont. 6:49. let's go to steve. all right, sal, thank you. we have at least some mostly sunny skies. i noticed some patchy fog mainly peninsula, san mateo coast a little towards the east bay and some up towards the mendocino coast. but at least it will be sunny today and not as windy. not, not as windy. wind will be back tomorrow. today's forecast has some rather cool readings and the numbers there there's one upper 30. also heard from joe up in oak month near kenwood 41. it's chilly. 40 to 50 patchy fog, clear, sunny. by noon mostly sunny, 54 to 68 the low clouds will disappear but the system coming in for tomorrow will start to show itself this afternoon especially towards the north bay. 58 to 74 some of that patchy fog just kind of get a hint right there along the san mateo coast otherwise it is clear. and that system will inch closer later on. but there's a 38 at the napa airport. so some low 40s, mid-40s.

a lot more 40s and 50s. that's not something i usually say this time of year. westerly breeze or a southwesterly breeze right through the delta. so everything's in place for another on shore direction for the wind. but at least it will be sunny to mostly sunny. the system we're expecting tomorrow is going to usher in some rain. i mean you can see itself dropping down from the gulf of alaska. so it has cold air support by that i mean area of low pressure and good jet stream on the south side. if you're in the north bay look for rain tomorrow not today. patchy fog staying on the cool side though just hard to warm up. sunnies -- hold on. sunny but 60s and 70s. maybe some sunnies out there. why not? cloudy, cooler then rain again mainly north bay. i think sfo, oakland about vallejo, benicia, fairfield north tomorrow in line for rain. south of that clouds and cooler. sunny, breezy today after patchy fog. high clouds late but mainly north bay in advance of that system. but 60s and low to mid-70s. mainly 60s upper 60s and low

70s even concord and livermore and morgan hill, santa rosa and napa low 70s. should be much, much warmer than that. tomorrow we bring in some rain. you're kidding me? no i'm not. clearing cool and windy thursday, friday looks okay. saturday into sunday another system drops down to keep this cool pattern going. >> oh, boy. thank you, steve. today the federal government will take the first step in selling off its ownership of insurance giant aig. after the closing bell today the company will announce the share price. the treasury department owns 92% of aig and is expected to sell down at least 15% of that which could raise as much as $6 billion. checking in on the numbers pretty quiet actually on wall street. slight gains following european's lead and asia market's lead with some slight gains. we have some housing news coming out in just a bit. that could send the market in either direction. delta airlines and u.s. airways are trying again to swap some of their takeoff and landing rights at two major east coast airports.
