could rise dramatically, ahead on the tt -- ktvu morning news. welcome to wednesday, it's may 25th. i'm pam cook. we'll have to check in with steve because before you head out the door, you need to know if it's going to rain. >> that is correct. san francisco more in line with anybody else getting some light amounts and nothing too heavy yet but stretching from county and right up updated clover dale. almost down to santa rosa if you head up toward lake county, pretty good rain there. the system will continue to just work its way south but it looks like it will stay cloudy and windy for some rain for others. for this time of year we do have some rain in the forecast. >> traffic northbound 101 looks pretty good coming up to the 80 split and no major problems there. the morning commute looks ing o

interstate 80. now, let's go back to the desk. right now the frantic search enters another day for a missing teenager from danville. ktvu reporter hernandez joins us now from san francisco where police and volunteers are now concentrating their efforts. jade, what you tell us about the search today. the search this morning has been pushed back a bit. you can see behind me the golden gate bridge and u.s. police mobile command center, we've been told that this search was supposed to get underway around 5 but over night part police say the time has been pushed back until late they are morning possibly at 7:30. we're live where the command post was set up yesterday and will be today. yesterday, a chp helicopter scanned for the 15-year-old which has sent several different law enforcement agencies in search of her. her father found ally's bicycle at the parking lot near the

golden gate bridge yesterday morning. he and the few others were the first to begin searching. he read a note on ally's commuter and directions to the spot where temporary command post has been set up. the sophomore was last seen standing outside her school locker monday morning. she never went to class. friends are doing what they can they don't know what to say explain ally is at risk and she left behind a note. friend, ally's assistant principal all to her strength and sports and academics as to reason why this should not be happening. she's very very smart and she's also very passionate about athletics at this point in time as to what we need. friends gather for a prayer vigil tonight at the danville congregational church. it begins at 7:00 tonight. as i mentioned we're live at the command post this morning

and u.s. park have told us that they've pushed back the start time of this search to around 7:30. of course we'll be here and we'll keep you posted, reporting live, ktvu channel 2 news. time now, 6:03. a man hit by a car in san francisco this morning is on life support and will become an organ donor. this man reportedly darted out into the street at lumbard and pierce around 1:30. the driver did pull over and probably will not be facing charges. investigators say drugs, alcohol even speeding has all been ruled out. this section was re-opened to traffic just about 2 hours ago. some of the deadliest streets for pedestrians are right in san francisco. report by national coalition of transit organizations. they say san francisco ranks third in the nation for pedestrian deaths. most of these make up 12% of traffic related deaths in san

francisco they make up more than 51%. this report says senior citizens and minorities are killed more than any other pedestrian group. police are hoping new surveillance video may help solve a double homicide near -- ktvu claudia joining us lye to tell us what we're finding out about the victims and we take a look at what that video shows. good morning. we're here in oakland because police know at this point at least one of the victims was here in oakland before he got on the freeway and headed that way. we're not talking about a big time frame between the time this surveillance video was taken and hour later when this victim and another man was on inincorporated. it's taken at a restaurant. detectives wouldn't identify the restaurant for us but the focus isn't on the restaurant. they don't know who the men are, they do know you can see 30-year-old ramone hat field. hat field and 29-year-old sean

raleigh were killed about an hour after this video was taken. detectives clocked it. we're talking about 25 minute drive from this restaurant to the crime scene which means these guys in the video were one of the last to see the victims live. the main purpose is to get the public's assistance in identifying these two individuals that possibly might be able to shed some light on who the victims were going to meet, who they were with, anything that would bring light to why they were in the unincorporated area. this is video from the scene when the investigation was underway on scene, now the folks out there that i talked to in the hours after the shooting told me they heard two separate bursts of gun fire, one victim was found in a car. another victim found half a block away. we want to give you one more look at the surveillance video. one man appears to have a

tattoo or birthmark over his right eye. we're learning a little bit more about the victims now. ktvu channel 3 news. at least 13 people are dead after series of storms ripped through the midwest last night and early this morning. i want to sew you video from oklahoma city. 8 people were killed after that new series of -- that number -- the severe weather killed three people in oklahoma and two others in kansas. missouri rescue crews continue to look for survivors of sunday's deadly tornado. one man who was trapped beneath the rebel was rescued after he was able to send a text message to a friend.

>> oh, yeah. >> yeah, i just got arrested. >> the death toll is now at 125 and more than 1500 people are still missing. the national weather service is categorizing that tornado as an sf making it the 8th deadliest tornado on record and now forecasters say even more bad weather is on the way including chance of more tornadoes. day two of the testimony of casey anthony. we're don at that room right now, these are live pictures at orlando, florida. prosecutors started laying out their case against casey anthony yesterday. they say her daughter died in 2008 from three pieces of duck tape being placed over her mouth and her nose.

there's what's happening in the dark right there in the middle of your screen, but the defense is arguing that the young child drowned in the family swimming pool and that casey's father tried to cover it up. this morning, president obama will deliver a speech just about 15 minutes ago the president wrapped up the joint press conference with british prime minister david cameron coming up at 6:15. we're going to have a live report from our washington, d.c. news room with the message president is delivering. time now 6:09 this morning, suspect in brian stow beating case is due to appear in police line up. they're holding off on filing former charges. the attorney for suspect says his client was never at dodgers stadium the day of the attack and he says his client is willing to take a lie detector test to prove he's innocent. the family is suing the l.a. dodgers accusing them of negligence.

they got rid of head of security and they got rid of two-thirds of the security people. so now then what happens then. if you have no security, people will let you do anyone and anything they please and you have things like this happening. now attorney tom has been involved in several big cases including the case that inspired the movie erin brkovich. his lawsuit is seeking $30 million. we posted a copy of that lawsuit and its allegations at our channel 2 web site ktvu.com. look for the brian stow tab. ask we just had a problem on the golden gate bridge. there was a piece that was stuck north gate of the bridge. we were watching as no cars were coming down. they have just moved off that piece of equipment and a lot of people who were stuck in traffic near the tunnel are now coming through. you can see the caution light

is still flashing. they had a little bit of trouble of getting that road work off. if you're driving to the south coming into san francisco. you may see some delays near the tunnel, the cars are broken free and heading south. move along and take a look at bay bridge where that traffic looks okay heading out to the toll plaza. this morning's commute is doing well on interstate 880 in both directions right in oakland. now, let's go back to steve. thank you, sir. cloudy skies, some rain already to the north starting to pick up here, especially northern napa county. south of that it's going to be hardly -- we do have a lot of cloud cover and wind is picking up too. temperatures today, heart pressed. breezy, rain to the north, especially north bay, 50 or upper 40s here for lows by noon that system will be moving south and weakening so cloudy, breezy for many, especially south bay, rain mainly north there could be some light amounts as you move south towards oakland. not very warm on these

temperatures, we will keep temperatures in the 50s and 60s. inland areas will be in the mid- 60s. the front should scoot through pretty fast, we'll be on the cool breezy side. highway 116. you can see some of that starting to darken up, looks like from about north so far is where the heavier amounts are, even though it's not that heavy, it is there. that system continues to give us a cool pattern. 's or upper 40s. it's not going to be very warm today. that system is moving fast. most of it will be in northern california, the mere fact that another cold low is spinning in, very active pattern in place and i really don't see much change to it as we go into holiday weekend. light rain, most of it will be in the north bay, but some lighter amounts could make it to the south.

the wind, though, will be for everybody and also the cool temps. 50s and 60s. brent wood 67. napa 64. 65 san jose. a lot of these temperatures should be in the low 80s, they're not even close. clearing breezing on thursday, clouds again maybe some rain again to the north on friday, saturday, partly sunny and cloudy windy and cool on sunday. the stage is set for dramatic moment in a salt lake city courtroom today. it involved kidnapped victim elizabeth smart and the man who held her captive for several years. plus the problem reportedly uncovered among some california national guards men.

president obama just wrapped up a news conference in london just about 20 minuting ago. let us know what the two leaders say they have in common. >> reporter: the news conference was u.s. british partnerships and cooperation. the news conference did just wrap up a few minutes ago. they took questions for about 50 minutes. nato carrying out its heaviest strike over night. president obama says the operation will wear down the gadhafi regime but he's not saying how long it will take. >> i believe that we have built

enough momentum that as long as we sustained the course that we're on, that is ultimately going to step down. >> reporter: in about an hour and 15 minutes president obama will deliver a speech at west minister hall laying out the main theme of his trip that u.s. and europe must play lead roll together. in global security, we'll have live coverage here throughout the morning. for now we're live in washington, d.c. ktvu channel 2 news. elizabeth smart is preparing to publicly con front her kidnapping for first time. today's sentencing of that man there, brian david mitchell in the courtroom. the former preacher is facing a possible life sent for the the highly publicized kidnapping ha happened 9 years ago. elizabeth smart was 14 in 2002 when mitchell kidnapped her at knife point out of her bedroom and forced her into a marriage. police now believe a

missing 3-year-old girl from southern california may be in lake county. her name is ava. here is her picture here. she was last seen may 6 at her mother's home. police believe she is now with this man. this is 22-year-old nicholas, her father. police say nicholas and an unidentified woman took her and may be in lake county. he was last seen driving a 1989 ford coach man motor home. if you have any information call the lake county sheriff's office. arizona judge is expected to decide today whether the accused gunman in tucson shooting is mentally fit to stand trial. he's charged with shooting congresswoman and 18 other people on january 8. six people died in that shooting rampage, two mental health experts have evaluated him. if he's declared unfit the judge could order him test and

custody to see if treatment might make him able for trial at a later time. time now 6:58, hundred california national guard members collected more than a half million dollars in improper pay. the sacra men most of that pay was related to full time guard members who were paid premiums on top of their regular pay. the paper also says some members also received money they shouldn't have for commuting expenses. he looked at the years between 2006 and 2010, national guard says that money owed will be collected. police say 33-year- old william sea bras stan beat a couple with a large wrench after confronting them at santa rosa home. couple suffered cuts and bruises. that attack was reto busan for

620. steve. we do have cloudy skies, some rain to the north, 10th of an inch. there's some rain, i'll show you the line here in just a second. today we're bringing in this system, not much for some, maybe a tracer, in fact i doubt get anything out of this. if you do it's light. possible, though, quarter to half inch for some of the wetter locations russian river. 20 to 40-mile an hour wind. 50s and 60s. system will focus most of its energy around the southern edge. showing from about the bay. santa rosa. i've heard from observers from roanoke park, they say it smells like rain. it feels like rain, but so far no rain. farther north you go, the better likelihood, clouds and wind. we do have the cloud cover for everybody on 50s on the temps and upper 40s. liver more holding on to 48. that's for this time of year. but it is staying slightly north of us, never the less

we're going to get some of that rain moving in. windy at times. cool cool temps, well below average for this time of year. especially inland. you have 50s and 60s on the temperatures and some of these locations should be in the 80s, they're not close. so this pattern looks like it's in place for a while with only slight warm up, if anything it might get cooler as we head into the holiday week on sunday. >> all right. thank you, steve. this morning, japan looked forward to exports dropped in more than a year. japanese exports dropped 12.5% last month. auto shipment from japan were off 67% after the quake and tsunami in march, many suppliers could not produce enough parts especially for cars and electronics. more than half say they won't buy an electric car no matter how high gas prices go. 57% of asked, pyroelectric car

traffic is moving welcoming up. again we're seeing a little bit of delay. those lights have been switched on for about 10 minutes or so. we're getting some slow traffic coming in. minority texas is one of the areas experiencing severe weather this morning. tornadoes are reported near dallas and fort worth. this is video of funnel cloud spotted yesterday. no support of injuries there. the storm did damage homes and

knocked out power. coming up w' going to take you to missouri, very hard hit area where hundreds of people are missing from the deadly storms there. the latest space walk had to be cut short this morning because of an interesting problem. an astronaut was installing power cables when he told nasa and his crew mates that his eye wiz stinging like crazy. he was able to rub his eye against strap. they say the problem with tears in space they don't fall, they just stay in your eye. he was able to stay out and finish the work scheduled for the space walk. time now 6:27 east bay professor arrested in his native nigeria is free now after getting out of jail. he took a leave from school in december, campaigned and ran. he lost despite big lead in the polls. he filed a fraud complaint. 2 weeks ago -- his family is hoping people will encourage

more than 400 of the jones towns victims are burried at ever green cemetery. the police officer at the center of a corruption investigation is no longer with that police department. they report lewis lombardy was let go from his job yesterday. it's not clear yet if he resigned or was fired. lombrdi appear northside court last week. the former commander of the drug task force. lombardi welsh and two others accused of selling drugs that they seized during raids and other crimes. the san jose city council will study several ideas for reducing the city's retirement benefits republic employees for take consider before taking a final vote. he wants the council to declare state of emergency and put a pension reforme measure ton the ballot in november. in its meeting yesterday, the council vote today wait until june 21st, to make a decision on the mayor's -- mayor's

request. city workers spoke out proposal at meeting. now in san francisco, mayor ed lee -- to rain in pension cost there as well. mayor lee came up with his proposal in talks with labor and business leaders. now, the mayor's proposal boosts most workers health care and pension contributions, puts a cap on pension benefits and raises a retirement age for most city workers from 62 to 65. >> in january when i was sworn in, there were five major objectives that i wanted accomplished, and clearly pension reform was at the top. >> last fall voters shot down public defender jeff prop b pension reform plan. he's now gathering signatures for new proposition because he says the mayor's plan does not go far enough. >> time now 6:35. the husband of a man killed by a bus last year filed a wrongful death lawsuit against

him. 49-year-old scott was killed last april after being hit by a bus as he crossed mission street. well on monday the husband filed the wrongful death suit accusing him of carelessness and negligence. according to that lawsuit, the driver of the bus was distracted at the time of the accident and allegedly was unwrapping a candy bar. about 700 flights are expected to be canceled today because of that volcano in iceland. right now airport ins germany are closed and no planes can take off or land but we understand that flights could resume tomorrow. now, we checked with san francisco international airport. so far only one flight from dubai experienced any delays, but you are urged to check ahead with your airline before heading to the airport. well, over night another series of deadly storms hit the midwest. tornadoes touched down in oklahoma, kansas, and arkansas. jim spellman joins us now from missouri, a very hard hit area.

that death toll 125 people and hundreds of people still missing, right. >> reporter: last night the death toll just from last night's series of tornadoes and three other states, 15 people add together the misery of this region. i want to show you what's going on right here in this neighborhood. crews are out in mas in the last hour or so working with chainsaws, bulldozers, trying to clear away trees and debris in this -- from this neighborhood. that's an indication that right here where our camera can see, search and rescue mission is done here, nobody here for them to rescue elsewhere in the city. they're focusing still on search and rescue. they know that the window to save anybody who may have been trapped in sunday night's storm is closing back. now, today we had expected good weather all day so they hope to make a lot of progress. just within the last few minutes we've got updated forecast storms are developing, winds are picking up here, clouds are coming in.

hopefully we don't expect it to be severe as what we've seen in the past. hopefully it won't hamper them too much. yesterday's tornado that went knot of the city forced everybody to stop, evacuate everybody out of these areas for fear that all of this degree you see could come projectiles. it's a really bad situation, they're really trying to get ahead of it today. hopefully the weather won't do any other harm to them. back to you. >> we wish them all well. thank you for that update, jim. live in missouri. time now, 6:38 in other news, well the san jose sharks have ended their season. they're heading home after a heartbreaking elimination from the nhl playoffs. >> the vancouver, they are heading to the stanley cup finals, they beat the sharks in double over time, double over time. the sharks were beaten by a crazy goal that stunned

you know, they're a good team. at least they lost to a team that's really good. let's go out and take a look at the commute. westbound bay bridge backed up all the way up. if you look to the left, any ramp is not all that bad getting down to the toll plaza. so we should be in pretty decent shape. this is a look at interstate 880 as you drive past the coliseum. the traffic is moving along very nicely and there are no major problems if you are driving on to the east shore freeway coming out to let's say going up to richmond. traffic is moving well. this morning, if you're driving on the commute from hayward to fremont, so far so good heading south all the way to san jose. 6:40. let's go steve. >> thank you. well, some rain moving in about san francisco north right now. nothing too heavy. south of san francisco sfo oakland i doubt much falls at all. north of that, look at that,

cloudy skies. i wouldn't say an angry sky yet. it's starting to get there. it's going to give us another round of rain. you can see there, back over to parts of san francisco. at least that leading edge is there, they're stretching right back over. i doubt much is falling there. ray hill do, we'll cop out heavier amounts are up here. roanoke park just reported some rain. and you can see where that line is falling. i'll do this and that will give us a little bit better idea santa rosa, getting some rain. picked up 6/100 and observer has picked up 14/100. so we're getting there. cloudy and rain today. most of that rain will stay north. the end result is very cool pattern. a lot of clouds, wind, what the heck is going on? well, it's just -- our time for here. it's locked in. it's called a blocking pattern,

everything is blocked. what we have right here, cloudy skies, breezy conditions, rain, nothing too heavy, for the end of may it deserves a wow. temperatures will be extremely cool. you can see our temperatures moving through. you can see that line beginning to move in, as it does, 40s and 50s, a lot of 50s, low to mid and some temperatures today, the temperatures between the low and high about 10 degrees and for this time of year, that's rare. system has a lot of cold assorted with it. possibility of thunderstorms i'd say north, lake county maybe northern sacramento valley later on. today we're looking at couple one hundreds to maybe quarter to half inch towards the river, starting to rain up in middle town. and also cool and wind and that's what we have today, cloudy skies if you don't have the rain, we'll have the clouds and some of the wind and temperatures are in the 50s or 60s. low to mid-60s and a few upper

a man hit by the car this morning. he reportedly darted out into the street around 1:30 this morning. that's when he was hit. the driver of the car reportedly will not be facing charges. two oakland police officers are being called heroes right now after their quick response to an over night fire. they rescued three people from a burning apartment building on 38th avenue and carrington. just about 45 minutes from now,

president obama is due to address the british parliament. this is considered the centerpiece of the trip. now earlier this morning you see the president here. he appeared at the joint news conference with british prime minister. well, this morning the suspect in brian stow beating case is scheduled to appear in a police line up. reporter tricia is at dongers stadium this -- dodgers stadium this morning where there were many potential witnesses to that attack. good morning, industry sha. >> reporter: good morning -- tricia. >> reporter: good morning pamela. detectives are going to bring in some witnesses in hoes they will pick out the suspect, hopefully the one that's in custody, the suspect who was accused of beating brian stow at dodgers stadium. that primary suspect was arrested 3 days ago here in l. a. he is 31-year-old ramirez. he is said to ma'am the r match

the description. they'll be putting him in a live line up today. right now he's only being held on a parole violation, no criminal charges have been filed yet. now the attorney representing the suspect's family now says the suspect has an alibi, that his 10-year-old daughter is ready to testify that she was with her father all day long on march 31st and that they were not at dodger's stadium. meantime detectives continue to work and track down and find suspect no. 2 as well as the female get away driver. brian stow's family meantime has now filed a lawsuit down here in los angeles against the dodger's organization for a lack of security measures and a lack in providing timely aid to the injured stow. the attorney for the family says the dodger's got rid of their security director and dissolved two third of security people over the last 2 years. the family attorney says this

more clouds friday, partly sunny, partly cloudy, windy and cool on sunday. this morning sony reports it's been hit by online security breach. the company says this time information is about 2,000 customers of its sony ericson in canada. sony says their names, e-mail, addresses, and encrypted pass words may have been stolen from a company web site. but it also says no credit card information was taken. sony's playstation at work was hacked last month affecting more than 100 million online accounts globally. all right, i'm checking in on the numbers right now, the dow jones is down just a little bit. nasdaq actually doing much better, though. it's actually up about 5%. a lot of stocks across that broader index up today. pepsi, proctor and gamble and hostess are stepping back in time. they're pulling out all the
