joining us, it is monday, memorial, day, may 30th. i am pam cook. i don't know about you but i heard all weekend stephen, wow, this is weird weather for memorial day. >> yeah, at least it was sunny, we got rid of the rain and the clouds but guess what? they are roaring back in, in advance of another system here on tuesday and wednesday, so any warm up yesterday we curtailed that, 50s and 60s, low clouds past some of the inland locations. here is sal. >> on the golden gate bridge traffic moves well down to the toll plaza, it is a nice drive throughout southern marin county. also this morning looking at north and southbound 880 in oakland, the traffic is light. at 4:31 back to pam. >> two people are dead, one person is in critical condition this morning after someone opened fire outside an oakland motorcycle club. tara moriarty joins us now with

reaction from family members who witnessed this violent shooting. >> reporter: well, people had gathered here last night at 88th and international for a sideshow and a barbecue. you can see where the tire marks are where the cars were spinning dow notes and a woman's body was found in front of this beauty supply store. if you look in this direction two more people were found shot over there. we have video taken by someone actually at the scene, where you can hear the gunshots. it happened just before 9:30. when police arrived they were already dead and rushed some of them to hospital. they identified her. this is a photo of her taken

hours before she died. >> i trust in the lord. she is going home. she left two beautiful daughters behind. >> reporter: she was the mother of two girls. this happened in front of the east bay dragons motorcycle club and police have no suspects in custody. we will bring you the latest as the information becomes available. live in oakland, tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> san jose police are investigating this morning after a violent weekend. a 35-year-old woman was shot and killed while driving on ambler way saturday night. her name has not been released but family members say she was a mother of 5. the woman's nephew, a passenger in the car was grazed but not seriously hurt. >> we always felt like san jose was one of the safer places. it is starting to not feel like

that at least lately. >> the city's third homicide in the past 5 days, the 24th for the year. hours before that shooting a san jose teenager was stabbed to death outside an apartment complex. police found vincent tran lee early saturday morning. he recently celebrated his 18th bird day and graduated from independence high school. no arrests have been made in either case. the search continues this morning for a missing 26-year- old nursing student. michelle lee has not been seen or heard from since friday night. investigators say the nursing student left kizer hospital in high ward hayward at 7:00 and told her students she would be back but never. >> reporter: ed. n e v er returned. police found her car a few blocks away and she is not

answering calls to her cell phone. >> there is no indication she has psychiatric or medical issues, so those things make it suspicious. >> police are trying to get a search warrant for her suv to hopefully find out more information. also new this morning the california highway patrol is investigating two hit-and-run accidents, possibly caused by the same car. i want to show you video shot from the overpass above the crash scene. take a look. you can see a couple of cars there. it happened at about 11:00 last night on westbound 580 near the regatta boulevard off-ramp in richmond. there were mangled cars loaded up on flatbed trucks. the chp says they believe these cars crashed because another car was driving wrecklessly. they are now asking anyone who might have seen the accidents or the other car involved to

call the highway patrol. friends and family who lost loved ones in the jones town massacre more than 32 years ago dedicated a new memorial over the weekend. more than 200 people gathered for the dedication yesterday. four plaques are in place containing the names of the 918 people who died in the jungles of guana. the ambassador to the u.s. spoke at the dedication, he hopes it will allow them to move on. >> i join you in the expectation that the memorial which you are dedicating today will provide a measure of closure for those who continue to be victimized. >> the memorial includes the name of reverend jim jones, who forced members of his com

commune to drink poisoned punch. people are still missing in joplin as they gathered to remember those killed in the tornado. we want to show you video from the service attended by president obama. he praised people for coming together and taking care of people in the days following the tornado and he says federal aid will be there long after the cameras are gone to help joplin rebuild. >> there is no doubt in my mind that joplin will rebuild. and as president i can promise you your country will be there with you every single step of the way. >> during his tour of the area the president met with some of the survivors. 135 people have been confirmed dead. but authorities are still working to identify more victims. they say they are taking extra precautions since one woman missouri identified miss identified a victim as her son.

it has been one month since a tornado touched down in alabama. how the victims there will be getting extra help. this morning president obama will take part in an annual memorial day service at arlington national cemetery. he will lace the traditional wreath at the tomb of the unknowns and deliver remarks at a memorial day service following that wreath laying. measures who died serving their country will be remembered today in san francisco's presidio, this morning world war ii veterans will lay a wreath marking the nation's entry into that war 70 years ago. there is also a parade. a u.s. coast guard play over and a 21 gun salute. that parade begins at 10:30 at the presidio main post. a ceremony follows at the san francisco national ceremony. for more on today's ceremony and there at the presidio go to ktvu.com and look under the right now section. if you are taking bart today expect some delays

because of maintenance work in the transbay tube. bart estimates about 20 to 40 minute delays for trains coming from or going to dublin or fremont. other lines can expect up to 10 minute delays. riders traveling from san francisco to dublin or fremont will have to take a pittsburgh bay point train through the tube then transfer at oakland's 12 street station. work is expected to end at 2:30 this afternoon. there should not be delays on the bay bridge though this memorial day. the work on the eastbound detour near the toll plaza was finished yesterday morning. cal trans worked overnight to realign the lanes so work can be completed on the new eastern span. the new bridge of course is expected to be completed in 2013. 4:39 is the time. i would imagine sal not a lot of people driving to get to work today. most people have today off. >> i think a lot of people do have the day off, pam, although we are here, so we are working and some people are so the roads are pretty good. right now we don't have any

southwest out to vacaville at 10, sea breeze is there. yesterday the city by the way hit 47 degrees, missed a record low by one going back to 1893, so if you thought it was cold sunday morning it was. so we are really well below average on some of the lows and especially inland highs, you should see low 80s, not happening. here comes that next low, right there. not strong but the mere fact it is on its way means we keep this pattern going, low clouds some sun today. breezy to windy, cooler across the board, low 70s yesterday, shaved those right off. right off there. 15 to 30 miles per hour, highs today upper 50s, 60s close to the coast, upper 60s and low 70s inland, antioch and morgan hill low 70s, clouds tuesday and wind. we will get a break thursday and friday. there is a huge discrepancy on our forecast models for the

good morning. a lot of low clouds and even higher clouds, a sea breeze in place. we had sun yesterday but we lose that especially coast today. >> police in lumas are investigating a triple homicide. police say one woman was found dead inside the home saturday morning and a man found dead outside. a third victim was also found severely injured outside the home then later died at the hospital. the three victims reportedly suffered trauma to the head. no signs of forced entry and investigators say the act does not appear to be random. the u.s. is apologizing for a nata air strike in afghanistan that killed civilians. the air strike was launched on a compound where insurgents took cover after killing a u.s.

marine but the compound had civilians inside as well. the u.s. says nine civilians died in the air strike, afghan officials say as many as well children and two women were killed. the afghan president condemned the air strike and said he has issued his last warning to the u.s. and nato on civilian casualties. 5 italian soldiers have been hurt in a suicide bomb attack outside their military compound in afghanistan. at least four people were killed when the bomber blew up an explosives packed car this morning in the western part of the country. it is one of 7 areas scheduled to be handed over from nato to afghan control in july. a new poll shows the nuclear crisis brought on by the march earthquake and tsunami in japan has made people there lose faith in their government. 81% of people surveyed say they do not trust government information about the nuclear

crisis. nearly 85% say they utility that operates the damaged nuclear plant is not doing a good job of dealing with the crisis. more federal aid is being promised to alabama, one month after tornadoes devastated that state. we want to show you video from hackelburg, alabama. yesterday janet napolitano toured that area. she told the town that federal emergency workers will be there on the ground for as long as they are needed. residents hope the secretary's visit will give hope to the community. >> i feel inspired. >> this looks much much better than it did the first day and i thank them for that. they have put a lot into this. >> more than 230 people were killed in the tornadoes that touched down last month. some people were worried that federal aid would run out but

the secretary says there is a bill that would provide another 1 billion dollars. they are still waiting to see if the federal government will come through there. the city was hit by flash floods and there is still lingering damage but california chose not to invoke the disaster assistance act. people there are waiting to see if fema well provide aid. the reserves are depleted. the city has spent close to a mill million dollars to fix city property and expects to spend 500,000 dollar. this morning the yen defer is headed home for its final mission. late last night the astronauts bid farewell to their visitors from endeavour. they thanked them for their help and mark kelly reminded americans what this holiday

weekend is about. >> on this memorial day weekend i would also like to say that you know we -- as a crew, we are thinking of the veterans out there that have lost their lives in wars, especially recently in afghanistan and iraq. >> the shuttle pulled away from the international space station late last night. it is due back on earth early wednesday morning. now endeavour will be retired after this mission and sent to a los angeles museum. atlantis is scheduled to make its final shuttle flight in early july. u.s. troops in afghanistan are remembering their fallen comrades on this memorial day. members of the army stationed in kabul held a candlelight vigil to recognize the more than 150 ous service members killed in afghanistan since the war began in 2001. in iraq more than 4400 americans have died since 2003. american flags will be very visible today as we mark the

memorial day holiday. now a bay area company is stepping forward to take care of those flags when they become too old and worn to display. federal law requires it be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner but not every 1 knows how to do that so the general manager of bay area mortuary services is offering his services. >> we are doing this because we respect the flag and we don't want it to sit on the garage floor or in a closet. you know we would rather see it come in and be used for a meaningful purpose. >> they started gathering flags this weekend and he says some of them are in pretty bad shape. 1 so faded you could see through it. another had shredded stripes. the chp continues their crack down on drunk driving through tonight. how many arrests have been made so far and how they compared to

surgery, they repaired three torn ligaments in his ankle yesterday. he was injured during a collision at home plate last wednesday. the giants trainer says he will have another surgery in two months to remove the pins doctors put in yesterday. the national league rookie of the year also broke a bone in his lower left leg but there is good news for giants fans, pablo sandoval could be back in two weeks. manager bruce bochy says if all goes well he could start a minor league rehab assignment next weekend. he had surgery earlier this month to remove a fractured portion of a bone from his right wrist. before he got hurt sandoval was hitting 313 with five home runs and 14 rbis. all right, coming up on 5:00. let's check back in with sal. maybe the traffic will be headed to the malls or something to stimulate the economy today. >> well, this is a nice thought i guess pam. right now we don't have any traffic headed to work because it is early and it is memorial

day. a lot of people have the day off. so you can see the traffic moving well, here on the golden gate bridge. the traffic continues to look good driving to san francisco's doyle drive. also this morning's commute on westbound bay bridge is a nice drive and the construction of course eastbound has been done. i didn't even really notice it on my way over to oakland from san francisco this morning, it is easy. not something that you have to take to get used to so you might not even know it is there. traffic is moving along okay if you are driving on westbound 92. the san mateo bridge. let's go to steve. >> thank you, very good morning. sun yesterday, today weak high pressure builds in. low clouds moving in south of san francisco. they are making it into parts of the east bay so another cool day and clouds moving in to the north in advance of this

system. you see the higher clouds slicing across min mendocino county. those are the temperatures. san francisco warmed up to 63. still though average this time of year is 66. we will cool you off today. fog, sun, breezy, but continued cool with a high today of 60 degrees. some of that high cloudiness and low cloudiness showing up here, a west wind, a west- southwest wind right through the dealt starks delta so everything in place. here we go again. the pattern has not changed. i know we are saying goodbye to may and hello to june but things are not changing. so more clouds, thats clouds, so more clouds, cooler, light
